Round 1

Rising Star of the Week

The Round 1 nomination heads to Dublin where Jacob Weitering scored 87 to help the Irish juggernaut do what they do best. The youngster repaid the faith shown by coach Holz and put a very respectable score on debut. In fact, that effort was better than some of the stuff produced by the competition's biggest names this week. But wait, there's more! Weitering got lucky! Mexico City's Tom Papley and George Hewett, Seoul's Caleb Marchbank and Christchurch's Toby McLean all had better efforts... for their reserves.

Team of the Week

And we're back! The first team of the week for 2016 sees Josh J Kennedy, the star forward from New York don the armband with Seoul's shining light in Patrick Dangerfield as his vice. Familiar faces from seasons past appear with Parker, Priddis, Ward etc all no stranger to this honour while surprise faces like Jason Johannisen (though the writer knows he's a gun having discovered and drafted him), Shane Biggs and Kane Lambert. Hard luck story of the week heads the way of the Argentinians where Tom Hickey produced a monster effort for La Plata. Oh and to the surprise of absolutely nobody, Holz takes out coach of the week.

D: Jason Johannisen (Tokyo), Sam Docherty (Moscow), Shane Biggs (Buenos Aires), Bob Murphy (Rio)
M: Patrick Dangerfield [vc] (Seoul), Luke Parker (Tokyo), Matt Priddis (PNL), Callan Ward (Beijing)
R: Nic Naitanui (Moscow)
F: Josh J Kennedy [c] (New York), Kane Lambert (Beijing), Aaron Hall, (Rio), Jack Gunston (Dublin)
I: Gary Ablett (Rio), Sam Mitchell (Christchurch)

Coach: Holz (Dublin)

Lambert! What a star performance by him on the weekend 8) And great to see our new skipper in the team for hopefully what is the first of many times this year.

Only one in the team of the week, was a good all round effort. Happy that the loss of roughy didnt appear to hurt Gunny too much.

More importantly it feels good to have a rising star nomination again. Didn't think i was a shot with him on 18 at half time.

The sad new is my man Murphy getting in for Rio :(

No-one in the team of the week but still won #teameffort #cobrastrike

Hopefully Mills, Parish or Acres should pick up a rising star nom sooner rather than later.

Round 2

Rising Star of the Week

It's head to Seoul where young headgear-wearing Caleb Daniel gets the nomination with a 77. Yet again though, we've got a pack of unhappy youngsters plying their trade in their reserves side hoping to get noticed... will they ever? Oi coaches, those names are Tom Papley, Darcy Parish, James Sicily, Orazio Fantasia and Wayne Milera. Will one of these lads follow in Caleb's footsteps and get next week's nomination? We're sure they'll try, but their coaches might have other ideas.

Team of the Week

Some absolutely amazing stories to come out this week! Josh Gibson, the captain of this team posted a huge 191! Jarrad Waite, the vice, is the highest scorer after two weeks. Marcus Adams makes the team on debut!  New York with three representatives, same with Pacific. Suprises such as Callum Sinclair being the ruck and New Delhi's Tom Scully being the 4th best midfielder this week were some of the other fairy tales!

D: Josh Gibson [c] (New York), Marcus Adams (Buenos Aires), Bachar Houli (New York), Rory Laird (Pacific)
M: Nat Fyfe (Berlin), Sam Mitchell (Christchurch), Scott Thompson (Rio), Tom Scully (New Delhi)
R: Callum Sinclair (London)
F: Jarrad Waite [vc] (New York), Dayne Zorko (Beijing), Eddie Betts (Mexico City), Alex Fasolo (Pacific)
I: Dustin Martin (Dublin), Tom Mitchell (Pacific)

Coach: Levi434 (Rio)

Alright Nige,

Gawn R1 this week, not that hack Goldstein. He goes on the bench.

I'm warning you... non-compliance will be punished *holds the back-of-hand in the air with wide, shaking eyes*

in the case of a draw probably should go to the highest average player.

Round 3

Rising Star

Seoul will be happy with this, back-to-back nominations! Clayton Oliver claims the honour this week with 90 following teammate Caleb Daniel's nomination last week. Funnily enough, only two rookies scored higher and they were the two previously nominated so far this season in Daniel and Weitering. Do we have three horse race on our hands? Stay tuned and find out. Also, James Sicily would have taken the nomination had he been named for the seniors.

Team of the Week

This is probably one of the more bland teams of the week we'll see. Quite a number of familiar faces and 12/15 of the team were from the same 5 teams. In something slightly more interesting, the two top scorers were rucks and therefore we have co-captains this week! Max Gawn takes the ruck spot through a technicality, that being the use of the alphabet. If I had my way, we'd resort to the old technique of them cancelling each other out and awarding it to the next best ruck which was Cairo's Shane Mumford... and some filthy Cape Town scum by the name of Mark Blicavs. But yeah, any complaints can forwarded to nigedoesnotcare@gmail.com and it may or may not be acknowledged. In other news, rookie Jacob Weitiering made the team in just his third week as an AFL footballer, but you didn't need me to tell you that because Dublin's coach Holz has probably waved it in your face already. The coach of the week is Levi434 of Rio who is running an absolute juggernaut at the moment.

D: Bachar Houli (New York), Jacob Weitering (Dublin), Heath Shaw (Mexico City), Tom Langdon (Seoul)
M: Patrick Dangerfield (Seoul), Joel Selwood (Dublin), Gary Ablett (Rio), Trent Cotchin (Mexico City)
R: Max Gawn (Berlin) [cc]
F: Luke Dahlhaus (Tokyo), Leigh Montagna (Christchurch), Aaron Hall (Rio), Brent Harvey (Mexico City)
I: Todd Goldstein (Dublin) [cc], Luke Parker (Tokyo)

Players like Gawn when they fluke a big score should get their time in the sun.

Round 4

Rising Star of the Week

Raise your cups of tea! Orazio Fantasia of London is our Round 4 nominee with a 96 to take home this week's honour. He helped his team to a narrow win and gets to point and laugh in the face of Berlin's Darcy Byrne-Jones who did better by a solitary point but has a coach that clearly didn't care about his rising star ambitions.

Team of the Week

Unexpected captain and vice captain this week, that's what we like to see. We also had a number of different faces to keep this team fresh. Oh and you know we love our hard luck stories here at TOTW and the heartbreak is real for Tom Nicholls of Buenos Aires who performed best this week of all the rucks but played in the reserves.

D: Alex Rance (Dublin), Elliot Yeo (Rio), Matt Suckling (Pacific), Shane Biggs (Buenos Aires)
M: Luke Shuey [c] (London), Pearce Hanley [vc] (Cairo), Nat Fyfe (Berlin), Sam Mitchell (Christchurch)
R: Todd Goldstein (Dublin)
F: Jarrad Waite (New York), Eddie Betts (Mexico City), Isaac Heeney (New York), Zach Merrett (PNL)
I: Rory Sloane (Dublin), Callan Ward (Beijing)

Coach: Holz (Dublin)

Round 5

Rising Star

A clear winner this week and with a monster score no less. That's "Two Metre" Peter Wright with a huge 142 gets the nod this week. More scores like that and not only will he keep getting named for Cape Town, but others might notice and pry their eye off the likes of Weitering, Daniel and Oliver.

Team of the Week

A mix of old and new this week, that's something cool! Are we seeing a changing of the guard here at TOTW? That forward line in particular throws out a few surprises and fresh faces. Also worth noting the leaders down back and up forward, guns! New Delhi's Sidebottom leading the way this week with Berlin's beast of a big man in Max Gawn his 2IC. Hard luck story of the week goes out to Beijing where the old fella Ted Richards wasted his efforts for Shanghai.

D: Jeremy McGovern (Cairo), Heath Shaw (Mexico City), Kade Simpson (Mexico City), Matthew Boyd (Christchurch)
M: Steele Sidebottom [c] (New Delhi), Jack Viney (Berlin), Joel Selwood (Dublin), Patrick Dangerfield (Seoul)
R: Max Gawn [vc] (Berlin)
F: Paul Puopolo (Cairo), Peter Wright (Cape Town), Toby Greene (Seoul), Michael Barlow (Pacific)
I: Mitch Wallis (New Delhi), Scott Pendlebury (Buenos Aires)

yeah scrub averaging 128.

With Gawn not hard to look good in comparison when your playing for Melbourne/Berlin :P

much tougher to stand out when playing for a good side in Dublin/North

With Gawn not hard to look good in comparison when your playing for Melbourne/Berlin :P

much tougher to stand out when playing for a good side in Dublin/North

Who's in the TOTW Holz?

And who's not in the TOTW?

That's right.
im more interested in TOTY and Finals.

I can understand that your worried about making the finals so the regular season is very important.

and to answer your questions

I think Wright is our first TotW player this season.

Shows how poor our start has been ... and yet we're not going too badly at 2-3.
Well done mate. That was a huge score from a wxv debutant!

Round 6

Rising Star

Our Round 6 nomination is heading the way of Christchurch where Toby McLean and his score of 74 gets the nod this week. It's not the greatest score you'll ever see, but this competition doesn't need that. It's all about being in the right place at the right time. His teammates Corey Ellis and Jack Steele as well as Cape Town's Blake Acres and Rio's Brayden Maynard were stuck plying in their trade in the reserves while outdoing Toby Mac this week.

Team of the Week

A few surprise representatives this week with the likes of Courtenay Dempsey or Tokyo and Tom Hawkins of Cape Town putting their hand up while Cape Town's Lachie Hunter has well and truly announced himself as a future superstar donning the armband this week. Otherwise we see familiar faces left, right and centre. Coach JROO8 nabbed his first coach of the week honour too.

D: Heath Shaw (Mexico City), Courtenay Dempsey (Tokyo), Matthew Boyd (Christchurch), Jimmy Bartel (Mexico City)
M: Lachie Hunter [c] (Cape Town), Luke Parker [vc] (Tokyo), Joel Selwood (Dublin), Dan Hannebery (London)
R: Nic Naitanui (Moscow)
F: Dale Thomas (Tokyo), Tom Hawkins (Cape Town), Jesse Hogan (Moscow), Nick Riewoldt (Mexico City)
I: Shaun Grigg (New York), Lachie Whitfield (Seoul)

Coach: Mexico City (JROO8)

Toby Mac should win the award. Doesn't put in a 30 after a 130, he's just solid every single week.

Round 7

Rising Star

The brews are on Berlin this week as hyphenated wonderkid Darcy Byrne-Jones picks up the nomination with a perfect 100! He was beaten by two lads playing reserves this week; James Harmes of New York and Jayden Hunt of Beijing will wanna keep up the good work and hope their coaches notice and they too might follow in Darcy's footsteps.

Team of the Week

Some great stories out of this round with big Maximus Gawn monstering his way to a score well and truly worthy of the armband. Quite a few regulars checked in this week, but the big surprise is the appearance of the big defender from Seoul in Jackson Trengove. Beijing would have mixed emotions as Coach Toga claims coach of the week honours but they're also home to hard luck story of the week in Josh Jenkins who got to strut his stuff in a Shanghai guernsey.

D: Matthew Boyd (Christchurch), Kade Simpson (Mexico City), Sam Docherty (Moscow), Jackson Trengove (Seoul)
M: Marcus Bontempelli (Pacific), Scott Pendlebury (Buenos Aires), Nathan Jones (PNL), Joel Selwood (Dublin)
R: Max Gawn [c] (Berlin)
F: Steven Motlop [vc] (Pacific), Nick Riewoldt (Mexico City), Isaac Heeney (New York), Tom J Lynch (Seoul)
I: Bryce Gibbs (Christchurch), Leigh Montagna (Christchurch)

Coach: Toga (Beijing)

Round 8

Rising Star of the Week

There hasn't been too much to smile about for our favourite Canadian team in WXVs, but we guarantee the Toronto Wolves will be happy with future superstar Jacob Hopper notching up an incredible 106 on debut to secure this week's nomination.

Team of the Week

Toronto have more to smile about this week as ruckman Matthew Kreuzer claims the ruck throne this week. Amazingly, three of the four defensive representatives came from Mexico City. Hard luck story of the week sees us look at the silly coaches at New Delhi who left superstar Ben Griffiths to rot in the reserves where he showed he's above the competition. Coach of the week honours go to RaisyDaisy and AaronKirk, the New York co-coaches who orchestrated an amazing victory and monster score.

D: Sam Docherty (Moscow), Heath Shaw (Mexico City), Kade Simpson (Mexico City), Mark Baguley (Mexico City)
M: Adam Treloar [c] (Dublin), Scott Pendlebury [vc] (Buenos Aires], Bryce Gibbs (Christchurch), Rory Sloane (Dublin)
R: Matthew Kreuzer (Toronto)
F: Jeremy Cameron (New Delhi), Josh J Kennedy (New York), Jeremy Howe (New Delhi), Dayne Zorko (Beijing)
I: Cameron Guthrie (Pacific), Dan Hannebery (London)

Coach: RaisyDaisy and AaronKirk (New York)

Round 9

Rising Star

It was bound to happen sooner or later. Yes, Worlds has finally been petraccattacked! Beijing's Christian Petracca scored a pretty solid 105 to get himself this week's nomination. Had Christchurch's Connor Blakely played in the seniors, this week's honour would have been his,

Team of the Week

A pretty decent mix in this week's team with both familiar and fresh faces. The regulars need no introduction, but the likes of Matt Dea and Seb Ross have put their hand up. The big news was a monster score from Todd Goldstein which was amazingly topped by Heath Shaw who broke the magical 200 point barrier. JROO8 gets another coach of the week nod for inspiring Heater to a ridiculous effort.

D: Heath Shaw [c] (Mexico City), Sam Docherty (Moscow), Matt Dea (Cape Town), Dane Rampe (London)
M: Seb Ross (New Delhi), Trent Cotchin (Mexico City), Jack Steven (Berlin), Lachie Neale (Beijing)
R: Todd Goldstein [vc] (Dublin)
F: Josh J Kennedy (New York), Tom T Lynch (London), Dustin Martin (Dublin), Jesse Hogan (Moscow)
I: Kurt Tippett (New York), Jack Ziebell (Toronto)

Coach: JROO8 (Mexico City)

Nice work as usual Nige.

Not complaining or anything just interested to see how you work it out. What's the process for when say above where Tippett as a forward scores more than Hogan, and there would be mids that also score more than Hogan. So Tippett would go to F4 and a mid into U2. Or do you do something different?

I usually award the TOTW places based on where the player was named by their Worlds team. As Tippett was named as ruck for New York, I put him as I1.

Honestly, I probably haven't been consistent with this, but this is the way I personally prefer it to be and plan to keep it unless there's an overwhelming objection by the community. More than happy to change it if others feel strongly about it being done the other way.

Round 10

Rising Star

The Round 10 nomination goes to Connor Blakely of Christchurch who made his debut this week against the club that drafted him in Cairo. He scored 97 to take out this week's honour and help his team to a very comfortable victory over his former club. The next best rookie was Callum Mills with a score 28 points worse off than Blakely's.

Team of the Week

Probably the most interesting team of the week yet if you ask me. While a number of the faces in the team of the week are those we've seen before, the highlight is that not a single player from neither Mexico City nor Dublin made the team. Another amazing point is that Holz still managed coach of the week... but only just! 9 more points and it would have gone to New York's co-coaches or 12 more points and it would have gone to Buenos Aires' coaching duo in Vinny and iZander! Tom Mitchell's big score sees him don the armband, while World favourite (unless you're Holz/Dublin) Max Gawn is his vice.

D: Jeremy Howe (New Delhi), Josh Gibson (New York), Sam Docherty (Moscow), Jarrad McVeigh (Christchurch)
M: Tom Mitchell [c] (Pacific), Josh P Kennedy (Cape Town), David Armitage (Moscow), Gary Ablett Jr (Rio)
R: Max Gawn [vc] (Berlin)
F: Josh J Kennedy (New York), Chad Wingard (PNL), Justin Westhoff (PNL), Taylor Walker (Toronto)
I: Jordan Lewis (New York), Bryce Gibbs (Christchurch)

Coach: Holz (Dublin)

gawn was rucking against who? and even then one of them got injured.

all the guy is a bully who beats up teams without a ruck.

yes totally.

never mind that he is the top ruck in the comp  and the 5th overall (4th in points scored)

kinda expect the scrub calls from a dee/berlin supporter. I know sitting on 5 wins and 5 losses must be exciting as its the best for years, but we have higher standards here at North and Dublin.

118 is a down year for Goldy and north going 9-1 is ho hum.

jealously is something that comes with being great. Dublin and Goldy have long realized that.

Round 11

Rising Star

The rising star of this week is Jarrad Jansen of London who scored a pretty respectable 98 on debut. Good signs for the future right there. The only other rookie to better that effort was Dublin's Weitering who has already been nominated.

Team of the Week

The team of the week this round has a distinct Mexican and Irish flavour to it with just under half the team being from Mexico City and Dublin, but sprinkled in to the mix were some interesting surprises such as Berlin's Daniel Talia, Cape Town's Dom Tyson and Buenos Aires' Ed Curnow. Tom Rockliff made a sensational return to join the 200+ club and don the armband while Beijing spearhead Josh Jenkins is his 2IC. JROO8 takes the coaching honours for the ridiculous showing from Mexico City.

D: Matthew Boyd (Christchurch), Heath Shaw (Mexico City), Jacob Weitering (Dublin), Daniel Talia (Berlin)
M: Tom Rockliff [c] (Mexico City), Joel Selwood (Dublin), Marcus Bontempelli (Pacific), Dom Tyson (Cape Town)
R: Sam Jacobs (Rio)
F: Josh Jenkins [vc] (Beijing), Daniel Wells (Mexico City), Zach Merrett (PNL), Brent Harvey (Mexico City)
I: Ed Curnow (Buenos Aires), Rory Sloane (Dublin)

Coach: JROO8 (Mexico City)

Sam Collins is a little unlucky. 6 months too old or he would have got the rising star.

congrats to rocky, could he be back?

Max Gawn had a Dual Knee Reco at the Age of 17, look at him now.  ;)

Both Jukes and I are a little doubtful of the trade now, but it's no secret that a rebounding defender will always be a better SCer than a KPD.

Round 12

Rising Star

Well, this certainly doesn't happen often. Jayden Short has won the nomination this week off the back of an 82. The interesting story here is that Short wasn't originally named for Toronto, but became their E4 thanks to our lovely admin doing his job and eventually he got called up to replace Andrew Phillips in the XV which led to this! Spare a thought for Lachie Weller who tonned up for Seoul's reserves.

Team of the Week

You thought Heath Shaw's effort was great? How about Tom Rockliff's amazing performance? Yeah, well Paddy Dangerfield of Seoul just beat both of those to join the class of 2k16 and captain this week's TOTW side. Shaun Hampson was an unlikely winner of this week's ruck duel (thanks to Tom Hickey being named as a fwd). Sam Gibson gets the award for hard luck story of the week with a massive score for the Pacific magoos. Seoul's ridiculously good effort sees JBs-Hawks take his place in the coach of the week throne. Perhaps the most interesting thing of all this week is that 11 different teams were represented in the team you see below!

D: Sam Docherty (Moscow), Jasper Pittard (Toronto), Josh Gibson (New York), Robbie Tarrant (Rio)
M: Patrick Dangerfield [c] (Seoul), Jack Steven (Berlin), Bernie Vince (Rio), Joel Selwood (Dublin)
R: Shaun Hampson (Mexico City)
F: Dustin Martin [vc] (Dublin), Tom Hickey (Buenos Aires), Matt Taberner (Pacific), Tim Membrey (London)
I: Marcus Bontempelli (Pacific), Gary Ablett (Rio)

Coach: JBs-Hawks (Seoul)

Congrats JB,

have tried for years to get Danger dont think it will ever happen.

just a question

Why is Joel Selwood not in the team his 141 beat Ablett, Wells and Bont

i fear im going to quick out a North boy in wells, considering he is also a Mexico boy happy for him to go.

Round 13

Rising Star

The nomination this week goes to a lad who had much hype around him and has battled away to finally earn it this week, Callum Mills takes the honour with an 89, which was bested by 7 other players, none of which managed a senior game.

Team of the Week

Patrick Dangerfield continues to amaze while the Michael Barlow of old has seemingly returned as they take the captaincy and vice captaincy respectively. Robbie Tarrant leads all the defenders with his good form on show while Stefan Martin also has returned to his former self to claim the ruck spot. JROO8 takes out coach of the week, but only just. In fact, Mexico City only had the single representative which shows it was a team effort to top score this week.

D: Robbie Tarrant (Rio), Jarrad McVeigh (Christchurch), Jimmy Bartel (Mexico City), Corey Enright (PNL)
M: Patrick Dangerfield [c] (Seoul), Gary Ablett (Rio), Lachie Neale (Beijing), Rory Sloane (Dublin)
R: Stefan Martin (New Delhi)
F: Michael Barlow [vc] (Pacific), Jack Riewoldt (Dublin), Dustin Martin (Dublin), Mitch Robinson (Rio)
I: Matt Crouch (New Delhi), Anthony Miles (Tokyo)

Coach: JROO8 (Mexico City)

Round 14

Rising Star

It finally happened! Cairo finally got a rising star nomination in 2016! It only took until the last month, but it happened! The best player in the competition and recipient of this week's nomination is Lord Oleg Markov who scored a pretty decent 75 to throw his name into contention.

Team of the Week

Jack Steven had a monster round to convincgly claim captaincy while Matthew Broadbent well and truly earns his place after coming from the emergencies. Cairo cult figure Ben Brown also made an appearance and there was heartbreak for Touk Miller who was the fifth best player this week but wasted his efforts in the reserves. He was avenged by his teammate Peter Wright who was the best of the forwards who played this round. Meanwhile, Purple 77 proved he's capable of being a really good coach for the first time this season!

D: Tom McDonald [vc] (New York), Dane Ramper (London), Rory Laird (Pacific), Matthew Broadbent (Mexico City)
M: Jack Steven [c] (Berlin), Marcus Bontempelli (Pacific), Patrick Dangerfield (Seoul), Robbie Gray (Moscow)
R: Max Gawn (Berlin)
F: Peter Wright (Cape Town), Jesse Hogan (Moscow), Tom J Lynch (Seoul), Ben Brown (Cairo)
I: Luke Shuey (London), Zach Merrett (PNL)

Coach: Purple 77 (Berlin)

Round 15

Rising Star

BEAAAAAAAAAAAASSTMOOOOODEEEE. Yep, Rhys Mathieson won the nomination this week with an 87 as Cairo get back to back nominees. Might have to give Charlie Curnow a run next week!

Team of the Week
Shaun Burgoyne gets the honour of captain this week, an unlikely candidate, but congratulations nonetheless. A single Christchurch representative despite them top scoring while he coaches at New Delhi have no idea what they're doing as Ben Griffiths was stupidly benched. Coach of the week goes to meow meow who we reckon was overdue for one of these!

D: Shaun Burgoyne [c] (Berlin), Sam Docherty (Moscow), Corey Enright (PNL), Kade Simpson (Mexico City)
M: Callan Ward (Beijing), Stephen Hill (New York), Josh P Kennedy (Cape Town), Patrick Dangerfield (Seoul)
R: Max Gawn (Berlin)
F: Dustin Martin [vc] (Dublin), Zach Merrett (PNL), Justin Westhoff (PNL), Jeremy Cameron (New Delhi)

Goldy never really recovered from the injury, same with North hard to get HTA when your team is struggling. Gawn is made to look good by his contested ball machines he has around him. A fit Goldy at say Dees would be scary.

Ill back Goldy, North and Dublin in though.

best thing is he should be even better next year.

Round 16

Rising Star

This news might cheer the Russians up after hearing they can't compete in the Olympics! Moscow's Ryan Clarke scored a pretty solid 99 to claim the nomination this week. Spare a thought for Tokyo's Josh Dunkley who would have shared the honour had he been named in the seniors.

Team of the Week

Big Stef Martin claims the ruck throne and dons the armband. TOTW regular Tom Rockliff is his vice this week. Sam Day and Sean Dempster both were terrific... for their reserves sides. 7of the 15 players this week come from PNL and Mexico City, the last two teams standing in World Idol. Meanwhile, JROO8 picks up yet another coach of the week honour after Mexico dominated on the scoreboard once again this week.

D: Corey Enright (PNL), Jimmy Bartel (Mexico City), Kade Simpson (Mexico City), Steven May (Moscow)
M: Tom Rockliff [vc] (Mexico City), Brendon Goddard (Mexico City), Jack Steven (Berlin), Bryce Gibbs (Christchurch)
R: Stefan Martin [c] (New Delhi)
F: Zach Merrett (PNL), Jack Gunston (Dublin), Tom J Lynch (Seoul), Michael Walters (Berlin)

Of the remaining Rising Star eligible players yet to receive a nomination:

Jack Leslie (Buenos Aires) has the highest average (90) from his 1 reserve match, same story with next best Aaron Francis (Rio) with his 86 from his 1 reserve match.

Trent Dumont though (Buenos Aires) has averaged 81 from his 6 reserve matches, and still can't get a gig!

Darcy Moore (Moscow) has played the most senior matches this year (13) without a nom, followed by Darcy Parish's 11 (Cape Town), then Jack Steele's 6 (Christchurch).

But I'd have to say New York's James Harmes has been the unluckiest; playing all bar 2 AFL games this year (2 seniors, 12 reserves), with 7 scores 70+

Rupert's an objectively better name and so he will get the nomination this week, sorry NDT.

Round 17

Rising Star

The final rising star nomination goes to Archie Smith who only got a game because Stefan Martin was supposedly rested. He managed to channel the ability of his predecessor to amass 96 and rob the glorious and deserving Rupert Wills of a nomination that would have made somewhere in the vicinity of 93 million Egyptians go crazy.

Team of the Week

It was truly fitting for some new faces to show up in the final round for the season, a breath of fresh air is exactly what we love here at TOTW. David Mundy the captain and Steve Johnson his vice. Dublin will be relieved that Todd Goldstein might actually be back. Otherwise, spare a thought for John Butcher who had the game of his life for La Plata Armada because Vinny and iZander can't recognise true talent.

D: Alex Rance (Dublin), Jamie MacMillan (Berlin), Jackson Trengove (Seoul), Rory Laird (Pacific)
M: David Mundy [c] (New York), Dan Hannebery (London), Patrick Dangerfield (Seoul), Rory Sloane (Dublin)
R: Todd Goldstein (Dublin)
F: Steve Johnson [vc] (Berlin), Eddie Betts (Mexico City), Jack Watts (Toronto), Devon Smith (Pacific)
I: Scott Pendlebury (Buenos Aires), Josh P Kennedy (Cape Town)

Coach: Holz (Dublin)

Finals Week 1

Team of the Week

The three teams to score really well make up a bulk of this week's team. PNL, New York and Dublin occuping 11 of the 15 spots available. Corey Enright proving old is still gold for PNL as captain of the team, while on the other end of the spectrum Isaac Heeney is the vice captain. Finals Week 1 made a good representation of the past, present and future star players of the competition.

D: Corey Enright [c] (PNL), Shannon Hurn (New York), Bachar Houli (New York), Kade Simpson (Mexico City)
M: Rory Sloane (Dublin), Marcus Bontempelli (Pacific), Matt Priddis (PNL), Nathan Jones (PNL)
R: Todd Goldstein (Dublin)
F: Isaac Heeney [vc] (New York), Josh Kennedy (New York), Cyril Rioli (PNL), Dustin Martin (Dublin)
I: Patrick Cripps (Rio), Tom Mitchell (Pacific)

Coach: Holz (Dublin)

I don't know RD, reckon he's putting on a brave face. Wouldn't surprise me if he puts in a below par effort this week, could cost you a final.

^I'll quote this across all of history if it happens, btw
