Title: WXV 2016 Milestone Players
Post by: Purple 77 on March 23, 2016, 03:28:08 PM
Thought this was a nice little feature during the week last year. Admittedly, I don't intend to go as in-depth this year into the milestone players, mainly because there will be soooo much more players reaching 50 games. But there is only ONE player capable of hitting that untouched 100 game milestone this year  :o that is no other than the world beater known as Bradley Ebert. He has played 81 WXV games (and 1 reserve game) over 4 years, ALL for Mexico City, so if he keeps up his average of 20.25 games, he can create history... this year!

I'm also going to attempt to announce the 50 gamers during their 50th game, instead of after. Doing it in the lead-up is tricky, as they might not get selected.

geez Meow dominated that draft. If they just stopped trading after that first draft and trade period and just drafted they would have like 4 straight flags.

H Shaw, B Smith, N Wilson, P Seedsman
D Beams, T Liberatore,  A Treloar, H Bennell
N Naitanui
D Martin, S Higgins,  Sam Kerridge, T Lynch (Suns)
A Christensen,C Masten

thats with zero drafting.

massive injuries this year though

in contrast

Dublin

Nick Malceski, Scott D Thompson, Troy Chaplin, Lachlan Hanse
David Mundy, Callan Ward, Jaeger O'Meara, Lachie Neale
Shane Mumford
Dale Thomas, Michael Barlow,  Josh Bruce, Sam Frost
Bradley Hill, Josh Caddy

Ebert a real shot at 100 this year...

He'd be a bigger shot if JROO didn't rest him that one game...
JROO should cop some kind of penalty for such a move imo.  :P

IKR?! I made my feelings well known when he did rest him >:(

Round 15 - 50th Game

... nobody!

But I tell you what Round 15 was, just another game that Brad Ebert didn't play  :-X

So that's two games in a row Ebert hasn't played for Mexico City, for two straight losses...

JRoo was losing his mind that week, he forgot Ebert would carry the team on the field. Now Ebert's 2 games out showed how much of a mistake that was.

Brad is Love. Ebert is Life.

These players just played their 50th game in the round gone by

Round 16 - 50th Game

Ben Stratton (Cairo)
Club History: Tokyo --> New Delhi --> Cairo
Origin of Recruitment: Pick 306 (17th Round) of Initial draft by current Tokyo coach Boomz

Dane Rampe (London)
Club History: London
Origin of Recruitment: Pick 9 (1st Round) of the 2012 Rookie Draft by current London coach Ringo

Devon Smith (Pacific)
Club History: Sao Paulo --> Pacific
Origin of Recruitment: Pick 21 (2nd Round) of the 2012 International Draft by former Sao Paulo coach Crowsfan

Tom T Lynch (London)
Club History: PNL --> London
Origin of Recruitment: Pick 419 (24th Round) of Initial Draft by current PNL co-coach Hellopplz

HISTORY MAKING GAME!

Dane Rampe the first EVER player to reach 50 games coming from a rookie draft! That's right, the spud draft!

I'd like to know whom has played the next most games from a rookie draft... I wonder if they've played more than 10?

And what makes it more special, is that he's stayed at London the whole time! This is possibly one of my favourite milestones for the year. Most successful rookie draftee by a mile. Well done London/Rampe!

Well done Rampe!

I reckon Blicavs would challenge him for best rookie though :) I don't have those numbers on hand though

50 games for one club is a rare achievement in this comp

best rookie draft picks:

9. London - Dane Rampe
43. Pacific - Zachary Williams (auto picked due to 24/12 hour rule)
29. Toronto - Kayne Turner
43. Dublin - Neville Jetta
20. Toronto - Tom Ruggles

probably missed a few.

I reckon Williams the best pick up and it was auto.

So barring injury, resting or dramatic form drop, we'll have our first 100 game player in either Round 2 or Round 3 next year!

Noting it is a lot closer if you include EurAsia or AAP Alliance games in the total, as Ebert's played none.

Do AFL players have All-Australian games against Ireland included in their career count?

No, they don't, but it's still acknowledged separately.

That's why I'm not counting EurAsia/AAP games in the players total :P

There was none! But kudos to Garlett who made his debut in a Semi Final, whereas New York's Jordan Lewis moves to 93 games
