Title: WXV Leadership Groups 2016
Post by: Purple 77 on March 11, 2016, 05:43:47 PM
Hey all!

The season is fast approaching, and the leaders have emerged from what was no doubt a gruelling pre-season from your club. So who are they?!

As you may know or have forgotten, we have introduced a new rule called the "Leadership Group". To quote the rule book (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,51596.msg682918.html#msg682918);

Quote19. In the week leading up to the first round of the season, each team must nominate 5 players on their list to form their leadership group. The Captain, Vice-Captain and Co-Captain's you select on any given game, MUST come from this group.

19a. During the mid-season bye (Representative Round), you are able to update your leadership group.

19b. If a player in your leadership group suffers a long term injury, you are able to promote another player in their place. However, should that player recover, he will resume his place in the leadership group at the expense of his replacement.

19c. Some leniency may be given under certain circumstances to allow for a captaincy selection outside of the leadership group. E.g. If all 5 members of a leadership have been seriously under-performing, and other players in your team have unexpectedly been scoring magnificently, you may be granted to choose a player outside of the leadership, but only in a co-captain capacity. All requests for leniency should be sent via PM to the Administrator, and they will have the final call.

^^19c is grey area, but what I'm trying to get at, is that if you think you have case, then by all means PM me, but any decision I make is final, even if maybe a similar case in the past had a different result.

I'm technically opening this thread a little early, but making this thread has been nagging at the back of my mind for some time now and I thought I'd rip the bandaid off.

So you can name your Leadership groups from now until all the way up to the opening bounce on Thursday the 24th of March. You can name as many drafts of your leadership group as you like without consequence until then, but as soon as the bounce starts, they're locked in until mid-year. The rules say Rep round, but that is like after Round 13, so for this year, we'll do it after Round 9 and before Round 10.

You have plenty of time to choose your Leadership Group, and I will be reminding you especially in the week leading up til Round 1 so don't stress too much.

Any questions? Please ask!  8)

Good question! Yes they'll be locked in for the rest of the year, unless one gets long-term injured, then you can promote someone to take their place.

The 5th and final member of the leadership group was a tough choice. Do I jump the gun and include the Package just as he's about to explode? McVeigh is almost as reliable as Mitchell and won't be injured forever. Do I include Watson in protest of the unjust activities in the trade voting? Hartlett would be in the leadership group of most teams. Gibbs was recruited to be a captain. But no, the 5th member is none other than the man who is going to put together another season of brilliance and remind the world how good he can be if he's trying: Ryan Griffen.

That is actually a really good tactic. I plan to use that myself by naming Fyfe in my leadership group, so I can promote whomever I like down the track.

The "downside" is, that if they do comeback, then the player you promote in their place is demoted again.

But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see that utilised... doesn't say anything in the rules to stop it... for now at least  ;)

We've been chatting about this for a few days now, and are still debating on which 5 to go with

We've narrowed it down to 6, and Waite is not one of them  :-X

That is actually a really good tactic. I plan to use that myself by naming Fyfe in my leadership group, so I can promote whomever I like down the track.

The "downside" is, that if they do comeback, then the player you promote in their place is demoted again.

But yeah, I wouldn't be surprised to see that utilised... doesn't say anything in the rules to stop it... for now at least  ;)
/ sign of respect.

New York Revolution Leadership Group

David Mundy
Mitch Duncan
Stephen Hill
Josh J Kennedy
Kurt Tippett

Decided to leave out Waite as his last 3 weeks are probably more realistic in terms of what we can expect moving forward, and North's draw gets a lot harder

Jordan Lewis the surprise omission - just can't take any more of his 50's as captain so we've gone with the more consistent Hill and JJK who should be reliable CC options

Rumour has it that Waite is looking to leave NY, following the blatant disrespect from coaches RD and AK.

One change to the Cape Town leadership group.

Josh P. Kennedy
Lachie Hunter
Mark Blicavs
Dion Prestia
Tom Hawkins

Out goes Nick Graham. Not likely we'll use Hawkins as a captain but, he could beat up on a few teams with the Cats' easy run home so it's good to have the option to throw him the C to try and spring an upset.

Given Beamer's listed as indefinitely now, I guess we may as well promote Poppy to the leadership group officially since he's our best fit option outside of Hanley (and Mummy?).
