Title: AFL Moneyball 2016
Post by: jvalles69 on March 10, 2016, 02:02:10 PM
Having my first crack at AFL for the year after doing fairly well last season in the AFL.  Even though it's NAB, guys should be playing a bit harder, Port vs Richmond tonight, will update how I went after the game! :)

Yeah I just entered between $2-$10 tourneys or head to heads last year, came out about $500 in profit.  Good fun if you get the strategy down right.

So I finished 13th out of 66, top 21 gets a prize ($20), $10 buy in.  Happy with that considering I had Townsend and Grigg who got injured.  My score was 684 (Wingard, Riewoldt, Hampson, Townsend, Grigg, Ellis, Ebert, Rance, Houli)  Top score was 751.  Could start to the season!

I only started playing this 2 weeks ago after depositing $20, have already made over $400 profit after finishing equal 2nd last night and 3rd in the Dees and Dogs game. i also play the Double up for insurance and am 7/7 in that.

Its allot of fun to watch your position change as the game goes on.

If you don't cop a injury and are good at picking an initial DT or SC team then you will make your money back on this at the very least.

Yeah I normally back a big tourney and then back the same team in the double up, never seem to fail on that one, slow going, but you just need to hit a big tourney once in awhile, and profits profit! ;)

Well I've decided I needed to give this go ;)

A lot of verification processes required, copy of your driver's license, credit card and a certified document of your address!

Yeah same as all sports gambling websites, if you don't give them those details then they don't let you  withdraw funds!

Played the last couple of NAB matches.   One decent collect and a few money back.   Biggest beef I have is the players status is not correct on the playing list.    Been caught out trying to find out who is actually playing.
Cost me a couple of collects so far.     So I am sitting back now until round 1.  Where I know how to find accurate team sheet data.      It is irritating to say the least that MB cannot update their systems in an accurate and timely manner.

Second beef is it is not clear how to delete a game prior to start time if you change your mind or find out a player you want is not playing.  OK if game is cancelled or not sufficient starters but appears no way to cancel you game prior to siren time if you enter in advance.

Scores update quickly and it is easy to monitor your game and status.  I normally have FF matchday screen and Moneyball screen as well as live internet game if I am home.

Finished 12th in one to double up, but 11th in the other, 1 place outside a prize.

Crowls, you should be able to edit your team right up until the first game starts if you need to swap out a player, but once entered I don't think you can cancel the team...if you were to put a head to head bet on  Geelong vs Hawks and you tip Geelong and then Dangers a late out, you can't cancel the bet there so makes sense you can't cancel a bet you've placed on moneyball.  Need to keep an eye on the ins and outs prior to bouncedown.

You did well to finish 12th in the double-up JV. For a while I didn't think you were going to sneak into the prizes ;)

Finished 7th in that one, 14th in a $2 so doubled my money for the night.

As Hippo said it is fun watching your progress on the live standings, particularly when in the second game you have more players than most of the other entrants and come home strong ;)

I'm doing the double up with the final 2 games. I find it interesting that a number of entries have players only from the Melb v StK game and none from the WCE v Ess game. Was the same on Friday night.

Personally I have 5 eagles players so hoping to storm home late ;)

Similar sort of thing, but if any of you guys want to join this league, ones tipping the other you pick 7 players each week like moneyball, doesn't cost anything, but if you top score for the week or your league is best for the week then you get $1000!

Head to thegame.com.au to sign up.

I've started a tipping league and a Pick 7 league both called "Jason's League".

Tipping league code: TAJ3M5TN

Pick 7 league code: SXPZ6P52

How'd you go mate? I did the double-up, I was watching the match delayed and as the Moneyball site doesn't give away the match scores I checked in about half-time and I was ranked 129/168. Checked in again at full time and finished 50th :D didn't even have that good a team either.

I was prob up $80 for the week, blew $10 on the NBA again today though.  ::)  I'm happy to make a slow profit on this one, make some bigger dollars on all the promos the betting agencies have.

I had a great weekend betting so moneyball took a back seat. Haven't played NBA for a few days. I might need to get back on it before the end of the season

Just signed up to a new one https://www.fantasychamp.com.au/ (https://www.fantasychamp.com.au/).

Slightly different scoring system to anything else out there, thought I'd give it a go before it gets too many members and I can take some money off a few.  ;)

Not necessarily, Moneyball participants were pretty rubbish to start with and now they've got a whole lot better, whether thats experience or just more members I'm not sure, but I figure the less ppl involved the greater chance of getting some coin back.

Your not wrong there. I used to win money at least every 2 games at start. Then started to get harder especially when young guns rose a bit in price And wasn't any bargains that noobs didn't know about. I just do the $2 ones now, other one too hard to pull off. Basically need to fluke a few roughies to pull it off.

Yeah I was doing the double ups mainly last year, but feel this year you've gotta be in it to win it, so will do a few double ups mixed with the big ones and hopefully I can snag at least 1 decent prize.  The Tbetta guy on DT Talk does pretty well, I always see his name up there on the leaderboard.

Yeah i came 22nd in one of the bigger ones on the weekend. Think it was saturday one. collected 55.

But upon looking through the names in there, i counted one dude having 10 sides!!! what the actual F! who creates 10 different sides for the same game day.. He wasnt the only one wither was seeing other with over 5 entries as well..

Yeah I've noticed multiple entries don't think its a bad strategy, pick the same cheapies you think will score well in all of them, then 1-2 premos who you'd captain in DT, then mix and match the leftover spots.  Guy in draftstars had the top 3 teams in the 5K comp and won 4K out of the possible 5K!  :o

Yeah... If you make 10 teams, your bound to hit a top 10 spot guaranteed and get your money back. Just not sure if it's fair if you can make that many teams ha. That's crazy!! Might start doing it myself ha!

I know certain moneyball tourneys only let you enter 1 team, but not sure what the limit with draftstars is?

I dont do draft stars. But i know money ball changed.. i think it used to be one, but now its clearly a lot more than one haah. More entries more $$$ for them i suppose.

Get on drafstars, better prizes and less ppl have caught on.

Just went on there! Wow 30k for the main event. Huge. See you have 2 teams ready to roll for that haha. Pricing is weird but.  Everyone seems expensive.

Have you been winning much on there? Apparently 60,000 people signed up according to the email i just received.

I've won $250-$300 each week from combined Draftstars and Moneyball, with about 75% of it coming from Drafstars.

Only the big ones and the big turbo's.  Outlay over both is about $60-$80 depending on how hard I go on Moneyball.

Yeah, but they are in the smaller comps like the $2 clangers and the all round clanger, if only I could hit something in one of the big jackpot ones!
