Title: Fantasy Twitter Releases
Post by: GM on December 10, 2015, 12:44:56 PM
8 players with FWD eligibility averaged 95+ #AFLFantasy points in 2015. Only 2 retain FWD status (but a new 100+ FWD/MID has been added).

Footy Prophet @FootyProphet
Hodge. Boyd. Picken. McVeigh. Shaw. My guess is McVeigh and Shaw hold their DEF eligibility. Thoughts Propheteers? Footy Prophet added,
AFL Fantasy @AFLFantasy
We will see a few position changes this year. 3 of last year's top 5 averaging DEFs will be MID only for #AFLFantasy in 2016. Who holds?

@WarnieDT @sgbrown102 Ahh yes too true - so perhaps McVeigh will be MID only? #interesting #sheddingDPP

Shaw Boyd and Hodge i reckon are the three keeping it from all those tweets.

Out of the top five defenders, McVeigh and Boyd the two to keep it while Mundy, Hodge and Picken will lose it.

Dahlhaus and Deledio the two to keep fwd status. Goddard no chance to keep judging by his season heatmap.

AFL Fantasy @AFLFantasy
The team at #AFLFantasy HQ are compiling the 2016 prices. 9 players will start at over $600K in Classic; inc. 2 RUCs, 6 MIDs and 1 FWD/MID.

So the two rucks are obviously Goldy and Martin and the next seven best averages after that are Steven, Hodge, Pendlebury, Lewis, Hannebery, Swan and Montagna. So does the new 100+ Avg forward come from here or is Swan one of the two to keep fwd status but judging by Swan's heatmap, he is no chance to keep it.

hopefully that means they are making the rookies pricy and being strict on discounting to make the game more of a challenge.

knowing the way things are going though it probably means Libba is priced at 250k.

edit I read the message and they are being harsher so i love that.

Libba at sub 300 for SC just stupid.

The stricter the better. Max 20% I say.

415K would be a 30% discount

2014-2015 discount was 40% for players who average 60+ in 2013

The only problem is Staker was the highest averaging player from 2013 (76.5) not to play in 2014 that I could find. So its hard to compare with guys like Libba (110.36) Crouch (94.55) and JOM (97.68)

The strangest one I found was Brett Goodes, ave of 91.23 in 2013, played 2 games @26 ave in 2014 and his 2015 price was a 50% discount based on a 91.23 ave. They did the same thing with McGuane, Jon Giffin and Robbie Tarrant

I wouldn't be surprised if the max discount is 30% just to make it all a little harder :)

I guess we'll find out on Wednesday (which is still too flowering long to wait!!)

I think all these changes are a reaction to the original rule change of letting everyone have 600,000 trades a year. They don't want the coaches to improve their teams too quickly so they have to kill off every avenue of making money. The first was a change to the player price increase/decrease system, it went from every 3 weeks to every week. Now they are increasing the price of rookie listed players and reducing the discounts of injured players.

I have an idea .. put the rules back to the way they were and maybe you will have 300,000 people playing again.

You need to look at it differently guys. Its not DT anymore, its a completely different game.

When ppl stop looking at it as DT then we'll be more accepting of the differences/changes

AFL Fantasy Twitter "Hodge, Swan, Picken, Gray, Mitchell, Adams, Goddard among those stripped of DPP. Don't panic though, 160 players have dual-position status."

Looks like the three remaining are Martin, Dahlhaus and Lids

Pencil in Essendon recruit Mitch Brown as a cheap swingman. The former Cat is available as a DEF/FWD and will be under $200K. #AFLFantasy

Brown was also gonna be F/D for me. I reckon he's actually a better forward than defender.

Jimmy Bartel will be named as a DEF/MID in 2016 and will cost you $494,000.

AFL Fantasy @AFLFantasy
Brad Crouch and Jaeger O'Meara missed 2015. The midfielders come in at $415,000 each next year.

I guess it kinda makes sense. When clubs play two rucks, one usually does rest forward and therefore spends a fair bit of time there. Annoying when most are irrelevant for fantasy coaches though. Only helps some of us in draft leagues.  :P
