Title: Pokemon Go
Post by: Ziplock on September 25, 2015, 08:10:32 PM
Been watching Pokemon Go stuff today, and man it makes me super excited, like how sick does it look.

Any other pokefans unnecessarily keen for it? If you haven't seen the trailer, look it up, at the very least it's a really well made trailer :P

I feel like it could be really, really good.

That being said, if they slacked out it could just be good :P

Team Valor (Red)?

The battle mechanics were a bit weird, lost two pokemon in a gym fight that I should have easily won in

There aren't instructions, I had to find it and read it on the net. That was a poor decision on their behalf. Battling was hard to understand for me when I tried to take on a gym leader

oh yeah it's the right one. no idea why it wasn't working before but I caught the first one. it took me a while to realise it's actually real life sort of. I haven't walked around outside yet but I'm guessing you catch pokemon and play the game out there? this is some next level shower!

I'm guessing that's a big deal? Can only one person own a place at a time?

I'm upgrading my phone to play (well, upgrading it because my nexus 4 has a shot battery life and a bunch of issues :P )

I'm thinking either a HTC One X9, HTC Desire 825,  Oppo R9 or R9 plus.

They're all decent phones so should be able to run the game (plus have gyros for AR mode unlike budget ophones like the moto G3)...

any chance anyone has played/ knows someone who's layed on these phones though?

flowering magikarp out of the 2km ones

ahh fark that! I have a 5km one. Was hoping for like articuno or zapdos or some shower!
score if/when you evolve it though!

"Our servers are experiencing issues. Please come back later"

pokemon overload ;D

forgive the spelling, but a gygrados is the evolution of magikarp if my memory serves me correct?

Its just sucks that the metres dont tick over when your not in the app. the 5km could take me a while lol!

yep a Gyarados. load up on the Magikarp haha

try driving around really slow. obviously when there's no traffic around though. I think that's working for me cos my egg is now 4.2km and I haven't walked flower all

Wonder what the max distance you can go at before it wont register? Must be between like 15-20kms p/h id say!
About 25km I have worked out but varies a fair bit I think

Sweet. 12 minutes cruising around that speed and im hatched! Slow drive home from footy training tonight come at me  8) 8) 8)

set your screen timeout option thing to 10 minutes or whatever the max is cos I'm not sure if it counts if your phone locks
Ever since I have had an apple product I have changed the phone to next lock by itself, this setting finally paying off

Turn battery saver on flip your phone upside down
I've only just realised what you were talking about here! I thought you meant the battery saver on the actual phone, I didn't even see the settings thing on the app! and yeah when you turn it upside down it goes black but you can still hear the music and see "pokemon go" upside down. so does that mean it will still alert you when there's a pokemon within catching distance?

Yup. It vibrates when a Pokemon is near. Unfortunately if it locks you get nothing. I had it on this mode on the way home from work in the car since you can't accidentally hit things and just ran my finger over the screen. I think I got 3-4kms up because my 10km egg is now at 7.6.

I also hatched a 5km egg, I got a fricken Krabby.

You will also find that there are places where certain Pokemon spawn. Around my city I know what areas I can catch meowth, voltorb, magnemite etc. They are always in the same area, so once you figure that out, you can farm those locations making it easier.

I caught so many Voltorbs and Magemites when I was down in Rosebud shopping centre. Caught a Magneton and missed out on an Electrode :(. Kinda wasted alot of my mobile data on youtube while I was down there, so limited for another 10-11 days until I get it back :(.

I did catch a Growlithe today so I'm more than happy with my Pokemon Go team <3. Even if they all suck and my best is now a weak Pinsir at 300-something with horrible attack power.

Can't play because I don't have a bloody smartphone, but it's taking over! It's amazing how many people who never play games are jumping on

there's a couple of budget smart phones that can run the game

moto g3 (but you cant AR) for around $300

If you want dirt cheap with AR, the Huawei Y5 (you can get it from jb hifi) *should* be able to run it (only disadvantage is it doesn't have 4gt, but  3g does work) for like $130.

Did a shower ton of research after I brought the G3 and foundout it didnt have a gyro (returned it, cheering)... I ended up being a galaxy s5 in the end :P

I'm level 9, still haven't had a battle yet. I evolved a Zubat into Golbat and that's my strongest at 416. Next top 5 are as follows

Pinsar 262
Kingler 243
Evee 226

That is some drive Kyle! Some great pokemon there, and I really wish I could get an eevee :(. But the Scyther seems worth it 8).

It's delayed from your last trip sometimes. I found a way to abuse the km system at work on Friday night. Because we're on the 11th floor the GPS goes a bit nuts and ends up bouncing me from 3 or 4 different locations hundereds of meters apart depending where I am standing in the office. I can move in a 5m radius and it adds up the 'distance traveled' from those locations.

started a few days ago, Level 8.
strongest is Pidgeot @ 452, got 2 Golbats @ mid 300s, and the rest float about at 200.
pretty garbage stuff around my area, mainly Zubats/weedles/pidgys/rattattas

not close pokestops so i usually float about with under 20 pokeballs LOL

I'm at level 15 on team Blue.

*866 Golduck, *782 Pidgeot, 638 Jolteon, *612 Fearow, *599 Scyther, 570 Tentacruel, 558 Golbat, 546 Electrode, 538 Magnton, 481 Pidgeot, 466 Ponyta and a 464 Golbat are my top 12 at the moment.

The ones with the asterisk are currently residing in different gyms. It is the most I have had at one time.

I mainly have Rattata's, Zubats and Pidgey's around me. But if you go to different places you will catch different types. Get close to water and you get some cool types.

The higher level you are, the higher level Pokemon you will come across. I am currently picking up 212 Pidgeys etc etc.

You get coins and stardust that you can collect every 24 hours until they get knocked out of the gym when defeated by an opposing team. I do have a job haha. By leaving the app open next to me at work, it seems to walk and therefore just hatched a 10km egg. Got a 752 Magmar. flowering stoked.

2 of My Pokemon just got knocked out of Gym's though. That is that blue thing next to them which means they are in gyms. You can't use these Pokemon to upgrade or battle other gyms with. When they are defeated from a gym you need to bring them back to full health.

Eevee’s evolution depends on the second attack it has resulting in an Eevee with Dig evolving in Flareon, one with Swift evolving into Jolteon and finally an Eevee with Body Slam evolving into Vaporeon.

Walked passed so many people outside Crown by the Yarra with their noses buried in devices obviously doing this.

So long as they don't walk into anyone or run under a bus I suppose it's alright.

level 23 guys and closer to a gyrados every day :'(

I'm at level 18, had a big sesh last night until the battery died anyway. Working on a Gary, got 255 candies at the moment. There is quite a few Gary's getting around my area now.

Got myself a Mankey and a couple of Dragonair for the first time and hatched a couple of eggs. 687 Ponyta and a weedle (ugh).

I'm pretty lucky where I live, there is 6 pokestops in a close area that is usually all lured at night and you can just keep doing laps so it works out pretty well. One end is usually filled with Machop/Magnemite/Meowth/Sandshrew/Nidoran, with the other filled with water types. I'm still yet to get my last Squirtle to let me evolve it. I come across it but the flowerer keeps getting away. Still yet to see a Pikachu/Bulbasaur/Charmander.

isnt it just spam the tap to do normal attacks. When the bar below the health is full hold for a second for a special attack. Then you can swipe left and right to try and dodge attacks.

2 days into my new account and caught my second Dratini at uni :D. Caught one yesterday with friend using the pokevision. Today though was random luck running into it and a Magikarp together walking across uni (to get a km into my 10km egg).

Already catching a larger variety of pokemon past 2 days than I did with my old account. Uni helps with that :P.

Yeah I'm level 24 as well

tbh, the fact niantic hasn't fixed the 3 step glitch but instead removed the steps, then threatened litigation on websites that had only been created to provide an alternative to the broken tracker is really annoying.

Then they changed their refresh rate from 1s to 5s to 10s... partly to deter tracking sites but also to ease server stress... just do your job and make a fun game.

Don't get me started on the la\test updates increasing the flee rates and defence mechanisms either.

tl;dr Niantic are being dicks

yeah im annoyed every time i throw a perfect ball they lift their wings up or jump constantly. Did they also take out exp for excellent and nice throws? i randomly sometimes get a curveball bonus when i never throw curveballs.

something i have noticed is my egg hatching seems out of sync, i walk a long way some times like 500-600m and only get 100-200. Anyone else having that? it also seems to update pretty slow how often is it supposed to be.

Im at lvl 20 but loads of evolution in the bag and lucky eggs so probably 21 pushing 22.

yeah I get that a fair bit. except I don't really walk, I mostly drive :P but haven't done for a while. but there were some times where I'd be driving a bit, come home and an egg was 4.9km and then after a while sitting in my room it'll hatch out of nowhere

go a 2k incubating and 2 5k ones. then i weeded my eggs down to 3 -2k eggs and 3-5k eggs. much better then 8 5k eggs.

I want a Jolteon so bad I waited till I got an Eevee with swift and saved all my Eevee candies... just evolved my one with swift and it turned into a flowerin Vaporeon! flowerin shattered :(

and now I just read if you rename the Eevee it'll evolve into what you want. Sparky for Jolteon, Pyro for Flareon and Rainer for Vaporeon. be even more spewin if this is true

There's and easter egg in the game that let's you choose what your evee will evolve into once for each type of evolution. Nickname your eevee the following nicknames before evolving and enjoy :)

Rainer = Vaporeaon
Pyro = Flareon
Sparky = Joltean

Nice, you've gotten farfetched and mr.mime? Theyre meant to be country/continent locked and only obtainable via eggs which are even then meant to be quite rare.
In regards to egg hatching I was reading some guys testing of the egg hatching and he claimed that the distance of the eggs would only record every 10 or 15 minutes and would only measure straight lines, so if you were walking along a curved path you would get less distance

Just shy of 100 caught but I wasn't going for pokedex, using all my candies on first evos instead of saving for the final evolutionary pokemon in a line as its better for exp. Since I'm bored now though I will just go for pokedex

Any of you guys seen the latest Pokemon Sun and Moon trailers? What do you think of the older gen 1 pokemon that have been re-classified with different types? The Exeggutor that is now part dragon type is getting a lot of hate. I like the fact that the same pokemon from different areas/regions have different types, it's kinda like differing species. Ninetails as an ice type looks cool as hell!

Wait what?!?! This sounds a little cooked, think it could be a bit of an over complication.. Pokemon's simplicity was part of it's beauty

It's not really an overcomplication. Just think, a rat living in canada and a rat living in australia may have evolved over the year and become a different type because the temperature differences between the regions.

Maybe that was a bad example but Vulpix was originally found on cinnabar island, which contained a volcano. So it was hot. Vuplix was fire, makes sense.

In the new region, apparently it is found in the snowy mountain area, so therefore it is ice type instead of fire.

I really like that. Except rumours of Growlithe and arcanine being a water type. That is trippy as hell

caught a Kangaskhan today on the way to Seaford

came across one and the cow ran away after 1 berry and a great ball

thought flower me he'll never came back

then he appeared again a bit later. lost count of how many berries. at least 5. and the cow kept attacking when I would throw balls so I used at least 20 great balls

finally got him though. you beauty!

Seems to have died off lots. Semaphore has become very quiet. People keep saying due to the poor tracking system they stopped playing. But when it is fixed I doubt people will get back into it

That's ok, still hundred million players :P trading system probably out before the year ends too which will be nice. Tracking system shouldn't be too far away now either.

I dinged lvl 25 last night :) Been taking it much much more slowly though to try and fill the pokedex rather than spam pidgey exp grind

its certainly dropped off but there are still loads playing.

those who are paying for incubators are surging ahead. Its taking me a long time to grind through my 5k one by one when i see some people hatching 9 at a time.

almost up to lvl 22.

are people still playing?

im a few candy away from a garydos.

every gym just has dragnotie which is boring i reckon they should have just had closer CP so its not just the saem 10 pokemon fighting.

im also running into the problem of every gym being mystic and its alot harder to train up a gym then take it down.

Looking forward to the buddy system a bit, and hopefully tracking is fixed soon.

ok so grinded out the 400 magikarp, as soon as i hit 396 candy they all disapered so went stuff it buddy up and walk the 4k out.

I had a 176 almost poerfect magikarp was expecting 1800-2400 and it came in at 1800 with the worst move sets possible. so was super annoyed.

but then i got a 80+ IV Lapras with bulk candy and 2 ice attacks to eat up dragonite, he is now 1900 cp and my stronegest so that eased the pain.

i regret being Mystic as i cant take down any gyms as they are all blue. i have a lvl 9/10 opposite my house all dragnoite. I which i could take it down with my lapras but its a mystic gym :(

yeah it's great being instinct because you can attack any gym :P

circular quay is on another level though.

ill head to crown tonigh and see how things go.

ok so i walked along crown for 1.5 hours i caught probably about 70-80 pokemon which is a decent haul and walked a dratini candy with my buddy. I only found one dratini though and caught it. I did catch 21 magikarp though

so not as good as i expected.

My friends mentioned fastpokemap does anyone use that.

Yeah started last week, it is really good. Highly recommend. It is just like a worse version of pokevision.

I'm level 26 now but not trying for exp anymore rather than going for the completion of the pokedex. At 125 and close to evolving about 3, after that things will get much much more tricky and will require a lot of luck.

Values for every Pokemon have changed (except Lapras I believe) so all CP has been adjusted, some have gone up and some down. Some pretty noticable changes when you open your game.

Tracker is sooooo good now! Back to the old step method, but now also allows you to see which pokestop they are at. Random pokemon though can still appear not near a pokestop, but it also shows you where the pokestop is if you want to track one there. It's how I found a Snorlax today and Growlithe :D.

CP changes only help me cause my pokedex is pretty weak of pokemon :P.

its how it should have always have been i dont want a super tracker where i can get anything i want i like the fun or things popping up at random rather then chasing down a charizard.

Yeah I get that but adding sightings as well wouldn't make it too op, the current tracker makes it easier than it would be if they only had sightings. They have basically made any type of tracking Pokemon to be controlled by pokestops by getting rid of the sightings menu and while I like the new tracker, there should be an option for sightings as well.

Ahh this is why I don't see anything. Only get tracks around pokestops.

Interesting change, as I don't live anywhere near pokestops I dont really like it.

Annoyed they changed the CP's too, I had so many purposely in 1000-1100 cos it looked nice hahah
