Will Mitchell get the first tag for the first 8 rounds with Sewell out?
If this is the case, how will he cope with it. I currently have him in my team but wonder how the injury of Sewell will affect him and his game.
he's been getting the tag for a while when hodge doesn't get it.
he copes well under the tag. doesn't get a massively low score like didak, shaw or davis ;D
wouldn't worry about it.
will sam mitchell be able to rack up the points this year
or should i look elsewhere (pendles, selwood, thompson?)
Yes, he is a gun. At that level you won't go wrong no matter who you pick. Comes down to who you like as a player to watch imo.
Yeah not exactly hard to pick the right player in that price range. He will score well, nothing indicating he won't.
pre season scores are very good
will he play 22 rounds ?
should play all 22. only if he gets injured will be out. doesn't get suspended much.
have had him in + out for weeks
still not decided
He doesn't get suspended but he gets a lot of reprimands, never seems to be eligible for the brownlow.
at least that means he doesn't miss games :P
yay had him for the last couple of years not about to stop now lol
He will be consistent and play all 22 games. Hawks are low on numbers I doubt they would throw the Skipper on the bench.
With Burgone to come in eventually will help as well.
Don't know how well Burgoyne will go this year, he used to have Lade and Brogan putting the ball down his throat at every stoppage and now he's at the Hawks who have virtually no rucks left at all.
I think this is a key point for S Burgoyne this year. I'd love to hear the arguments from anyone who thinks he can maintain or step up regardless of this.
no longer being number 1 midfielder might hurt his fantasy scores. as alex said, no great ruck to work with. he has become accustomed to lade and brogan tapping the ball his way. he doesn't find alot of his own ball.
could go either way depending how he adapts to his new role down at the hawks. can either step up a notch with no more tag or be on the edge of premium status with no more great rucks.
did not see the game between hawks n collingwood just wondering how serious mitchells hamy soreness was????? worth the trade or just wait it out with bastinac covering ???
Bastinac seems to be good cover so i would keep Mitchell. hope he is back soon.
I think Mitch will be playing against North for sure.
Mitchell should be playing this week, no point of trading.
He came back on about 10 mins later but coach decided not to play him in the last 1/4. He will be back unless he injures himself further in training
Need to Trade Mitchell who for?
why is he out for sure
Listed as test//He will play//Keep Him
i'll answer that question no hes not
he will be facing a fitness test this week and it was precautionary and they didnt want to risk their captain when they were getting owned anyway
Sammy wont miss any or will miss 1 at most not worth a trade.
C Judd, M Murphy, K Cornes anothers?
Keep him :)
But if you have to, either Judd or MM. Probably Judd
Also should be in trade section
Ok thanks are there any others that you recommend?
keep him
if you have to, then list above and Hayes, gibbs or boyd
Looks like Sewell will be back this week too. Means that Mitchell might get back to his old role and start to score better hopefully.
Dont trade Sammy Mitchell..... Reason....... Sewell is back this week which will free Mitchell up a little and they have a good run of games coming up so hold on for now.

I did see that Sewell is back this week, but where will Hawthorn play him? in the middle, or at Half Back?, cause there was talk in the pre-season that he'd be moved back to the Half Back position. And with Young back and playing this further adds to my arguement.
I still Mitchell is 50/50 with me at the moment to weather he stays or goes, if I do trade him it might be for Rischitelli.
Mitchel is gone with a Hammy

That one will hurt plenty! Thank god I'm not one of them, but have plenty of other's to worry about!
the year of the hammy!
Any idea how long for???
Doesnt say yet.
Sure is the year of the Hammy,
Gibson Roo Kerr Mitchell
Donutville
Lame.
Donut coming up
I might trade him out. I dont want a donut. Second, Shuey and Banner are not playing so I am quite screwed. I might trade him out for Bastinac and money$$$$$. Wat you guys think?
Don't trade. I'm facing a donut.. :( Have Boyd and Howlett on bench, but won't trade. It's obviously only a 1-2 week injury. Better to save the trades.
Very tempted to trade...
I could bring in ablett.
Wish i knew how long Sam will be out for
I would say just this week, he sounded like he was touch and go all week!
Would it be completely stupid to ACTUALLY trade him this week?
Quote from: NADO95 on April 24, 2010, 08:22:44 AM

Yes it would
He should only be out for this week next week at the max they wouldn't have orignally named him if he was going to be out for 4+ weeks unless he agrevated it at training
dammmm
ARRRGGGHH..woould love to bring Ablett..
will Mitchell be right to play this week?
his on test...maybe he will make the trip to the west
He is having a shocker of a year glad i dont have him.
why do people think that Mitchell isn't performing this year? He has scored 112, 98, 112, 66 (playing half the game)
Obviously someone posting on a DT thread thinking they are posting on a SC thread
hah yes had a pretty good dt year but a crappy sc year
o well that y i dont play sc :D
oh crap!!
just heard Mitchell being interviewed on 3AW - and he says that he probaboy won't be playing again this weekend!!
jeeezzz he has soft hammies!! :P
Double crap!!
Last 2 weeks I've had to cop donuts because of him and Boyd. Well, I just have to hope Boyd's back then.
i had donuts last week thanks to mitchell, martin, banner (emer), shuey (emer), GAJ. hopefully GAJ an martin are back but i now have cover with JKT for mitchell but i would still love him back
well they dont really like to take injured players on the long trip over to WA
will see him miss again i recon
he is a jet but that hammy is sucky for DT coaches with him (ie. me!)
agree browny..
when they say "doubtful" combined with a trip out west....well i don't think we should be counting on him!!
so just wondering what flavour dohnut i'll be eating this weekend!!
i wont be depneding on whether martin and GAJ get up i will have a midfiled full of players with JKT cover for mitchell :D
Well all this talk going around that Sam Mitchell will again miss this weeks game, making it three straight he has missed!!!!!
Anyone got any info on exactly when he will be back because I can't keep getting donuts!!!!!! Cheers
Says on injury update hes waiting on the Test.
Find out tomorrow I suppose..
do u have cover for him?
if he goes and aggrevates it more itll suck more for DT coaches
yeh well hopefully he has overcome the injury and will be fine to play...my midfield is:
bartel, ROK, barlow bastinac, mitchell, morabito (kayler-thompson,shey)
i have 110,000 in the bank and was thinking of trading zieball in my forward line for grant and then trading morabito for hayes/selwood. Even if mitchell doesnt play i have cover for him with JKT, however my young midfield line up is really inconsistent and has cost me lots of points!!!! i just dont think it is worth trading mitchell, cos he will be back soon and is normally a good dt scorer.
If i get rid of morabito this week, then next week i will trade ladson for a cheap defender and then bastinac for swan/ablett....
how does that sound guys??
looks set to miss:
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/93735/default.aspx
must be a tear in the hamstring if his out again
Quotei wont be depneding on whether martin and GAJ get up i will have a midfiled full of players with JKT cover for mitchell
Fingers crossed that JKT gets named.
Dream scenario for teams announced
In: Mitchell, out: somebody not on my team
Good scenario
In: Mitchell, out: JKT
I'll live it with scenario:
No Mitchell, but JKT stays
Death to everybody scenario:
No Mitchel, Out: JKT
Mitchell wont play..
http://www.afl.com.au/news/newsarticle/tabid/208/newsid/93735/default.aspx
Mitchell wont play and that should mean JKT holds his spot! hopefully...
I feel for all you Mitchell owners, that's crap that they havent given out publicly how long he's expected out for originally.
He should be back next week. Although I thought I said that 2 weeks ago... ???
And there's always that risk with a hammy that he could aggrevate it again during the week or in a couple of weeks time which is concerning.
The trip to Perth seemed the deciding factor. Hope JKT plats then!!
If thay had of said 3 weeks fro the start I probs still would have kept him. Hoping he would have played if it was in Melb, so he should be well healed by next weekend weakening the chances of reinjuring it.
JKT dropped aswell, thats shower!
hawthorn will lose coz they brought in suckling!
absolute joke that ladson, ellis and sheils get a game

I don't have either one of them
So I'll add to that
Best ever senario = you do not have either Mitchel or JKT
i have moles, JKT n mitchell already not named and none of them are emgs
do i trade out moles, down to howlett
OR
do i upgrade mitchell to ablett or someone
OR
do i just take the 0 on the chin and pray for no late withdrawals
if youve waited on mitchell this long wait on more week
I've got 'im and I'm not doing anything with him.

Take the donut..he'll be back next week!!
so it seems his out to round 9 now, wish they told me this a few weeks ago, dont no if i can hold him that long
round 9? Where'd that come from? Not saying it isn't true!
wouldnt make up random info
google "injury update" think its injury update.com or .au
click on afl then hawks
ohh crap! that long! i think i will still hold on to him...
im trying to hold onto him but bastinac or martin are not filling in too well!
hey mish are u "INTER" in the ff dream factory league?
It actually says Rd 8 for his estimated return. Don't know why the comment below says Rd 9. Would wait for more info.
http://www.injuryupdate.com.au/afl.php
"Looking like a traditional grade 1 strain, if so would be expected to return round 9"
maybe read the whole lot 1st hmmm?

Understand that B2F, but why does it say;
Sam Mitchell hamstring strain Rnd 4 Rnd 8
Looking like a traditional grade 1 strain, if so would be expected to return round 9
So, therefore I am not sure why they would put Rd 8 above it as the estimated return?
I'm saying wait til later in the week to find out, coz it's contrasting!!
he has no chance of coming up next week, i still dont like his chanes of the week after. time to upgrade to GABLETT!
is it worth keeping mitchell and not trading him.....i have to trade one of my reserves to cover him or else i will get a donut....he is a class player and always does well but i need him scoring some points for me....not sure whether to hold on to him or upgrade to hayes/ablett/swan???
I've held onto Softcock Mitchell since the start. Fantastic player, but thats just it. He is not playing! Very close to giving him the boot for Stanton, Sylvia or Boyd. I have been faithful for 3 years, maybe time to cut my losses and WASTE a trade?
Also, should I jump on the Hargrave bandwagon or is Lovett-Murray or Grundy a better option?
DO NOT TRADE MITCHELL!
If you've kept him this long you have to stay the course when the maximum left to wait seems to be two weeks.
As for Crusty's 2nd question. I'd go NLM, 4 games all above 80 seems to be pushing keeper status, Grundy will get bigger tons but he'll also throw in a 60-70 week as well.
Will he play next week
You create a new thread every Sunday to ask the same question. Couldn't you use the old one?
I do??? Sorry prospector can't you merge them all together tho?
i can, but gee it would be easier for me - and a lot of other people, if you would bother to do it first, by just diggin' out the Mitchell thread, and adding to it!
I have just read on AFL.com that he will be playing against Richmond next week. I have him too so am glad to see him back.
Sam Mitchell expected to return with buddy aswell...
Good News :)
and burgoyne too ;)
mitchell better bloody play!
no JKT tho which sucks
seen as tho there are no tantalising players on the bubble this week is was thinking of:
Mitchell ---> hayes/ dal santo
or
wait 1 week for mitchell to rise (b/e 72) and ablett to fall (b/e 136) and hope my cash will bridge the gap
or
neither, offer your suggestions
or
do nothing
10 trades $84,500
Three letters...NDS.
His b/e this week is a Reltonable 54 (Hayes is 130) and Saints play Power, Roos(season high 144), Richmond and Crows in finals weeks.
Lock him in!
interesting concept
altho is this too much of a sideways trade?

interesting concept
altho is this too much of a sideways trade?
Absolutely, right now, but Mitchell last 4...includes Pies last round where earlier this year had second lowest score of the year, 66.
GAJ is an interesting target
think he needs more time in the midfield
but his lowest score is gonna be around 100 so not bad
Mitchell to Hayes/NDS?
No Ways, I'm sure that trade is needed else where.
Option 2.
GAJ may well reach that B/E.
And what are your chances?
You think he'll go head to head with Harvey or will Ling give him the tag?
136 is a bit far, but may reach 115 - 125.
Probably won't go head to head with Harvey, both play to much time in the forward line to go head to head because then Harvey can easily slip into the forward pocket and GAJ will have to go backline, Harvey will get the Pink Pig in a upset, North by 16. You heard it here first!
so yes or no?
Massive waste of a trade. Im sure there is others in your team that need upgrading before mitchell
thats is true but at this point in time, i do not have enough cash to make a sufficient upgrade, and no one good is on the bubble for downgrade, and wanna make my team better
had an idea, fyfe to boomer as fyfe has topped out?
Keep Mitchell!!
Mitchell is a prem - keep him.

Fyfe to Boomer sounds good.
anyone that doesnt have him targeting him for their last midfielder? averaged 90's for 3 or 4 str8 years now and at 373,00 ::)>> i did :P
I will be keeping him in mind, sure, possibly upgrade Armstrong to him in a few weeks.
so fyfe to boomer?
so glad i kept mitchell this round :D
defs a good M6!
M6??
?Maybe M7?
Swan(C) Montagna(VC) Bartel Dal Santo Barlow Gilbee (Banner Gysberts)
oohhhhhh i seee
defs your M6 i rekon
yep good trade.
yep thats what he means, 6th mid.
bout time mitchy carved up!
started strong and continued it

haha definitely went up 20k last night... im embarrassed to say it ive been eyeing off an upgrade for my last midfield slot for 6 weeks and he hadnt really factored into my plans until i really crunched the numbers(dreamteampro stats pack) and my available budget at the time 385,000,
yeah, he is looking to be a great option now.
glad i got him this week as howlett was my cow and he is fresh out of milk in 2010 :P
Yeah, his milk is off by now.
the other guy i was considering as an absolute unique pick and a smokey was farren ray avg 89 last year and is just starting to heat up avg 97 over the last 5 games and is only owned by 0.79% of teams, i dont reckon he will get rested in the last 4 rounds either but what stopped me was he doesnt really throw up big 100s like mitch
yeah I remember last year Farren averaged close to 100 for a steady time and so i put 10 bucks on him for the Norm Smith at $67. He hardly got a touch. :(

yeah there r risks with any player and i knew that getting him at 80k under his starting price, ive had stanton from the start and early it was looking like a great pick and i qoute WAS
picked him as one of my premiums at the start...but must admit...he was giving me the shiets 4 weeks ago when he was out with a hammy for weeks and weeks...
but class will tell....he is a premium for a reason, and generally expect 100+ each week from him - especially now that the Hawks are actually finding a bit of form !!
i know everyone is having the barlow debacle
i was contemplating holding the trade for a week or 2 given that i have i have cunnington on the bench and he will be given more roles with zieball out of the team
but now mitchell is out for a week afta hand surgery
so will have to make the barlow trade and put cunnington on for mitchell, or hope that JKT finally gets a call up again haha
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
In the mix: round 15
HAWTHORN
Skipper Sam Mitchell will miss after undergoing surgery to insert a plate on a broken bone in his hand suffered last Friday night. Rick Ladson was a late withdrawal from that match against the Bulldogs and must be in doubt after being hospitalised for dehydration caused by a virus. Campbell Brown and Josh Gibson are in the frame to resume, while Jarrod Kayler-Thomson kicked four goals and was named best afield for Box Hill last week.
BEST NEWS I HAVE HEARD IN A LONG TIME!!!
Ahhh JKT could be back..... yippee!
then he might no be the worst trade i have done this season
even with one game culd be juicy enuf to downgrade to koby stevens!!
not quite ripe enough to downgrade yet, i will probably keep him for 2-3 more weeks, he probably won't even play after we have said this!
1 or 2 more games will be his max then trade him out for stevens
JKT better be back, then I can sub Mitchell and possibly Barlow, playing Basti and JKT :)
oh crap..!
was prepared to hold off on Barlow trade for a few weeks as could carry him with Martin in hot form - but now Mitchell as well - leaves me needing both Martin and Gysberts to play!
Don't like that much.....especially as Bailey seems to have given Gysberts the cold shoulder...
If they are both named, then I can hold off the trade - but otherwise just going to be too close in my league match this week to cop a guaranteed donut - and I need to win this week to lock up a top 4 spot.
guess we wait until the last moment on friday !!
Gysberts could be played, I think Grimes could be out, haven't looked into it though.
