Good to be back in the SC spirit! Always the most exciting part of SC is the start of the season. Here is my first crack at it:
DEFS: Shaw, Gibson, Hurn, Rampe, Waters, Goddard (Warren, Wigg)
MIDS: Ablett, Pendles, Jelwood, Watson, Tmitchell, Petracca, Van Berlo, Freeman (Dick, Dumont, Lambert)
RUCKS: Nic Nat, Leuy (COX)
FWDS: Goddard, Martin, Gunston, Swan, Membrey, Clark (Hogan, C. Daniel)
Remaining Salary: $100
Few concerns which are Gibson and definitely Tmitchell but I feel that with Nick Mal gone, Mitchell may feature now.

Some interesting POD picks

I'd move TMitch into the forwads and bring in either a mid rookie or premo for Gunston.

Gibbo is a risk in defence, so is Rampe. The latter mainly because we still are unsure what role he will play now Malceski is at the Suns.

Decent platform to start with none the less.

Gibbo is at 497k so I think that's a bit too much for him. I went for Birchall instead. My gut feeling is that Mcveigh is going to fill the void from Nick Mal but if not, Rampe would be locked in 100%.

My backup team is
DEFS: Shaw, Birchall, Hurn, Everitt,, Waters, Goddard (Warren, Wigg)
MIDS: Ablett, Pendles, Jelwood, Watson, Swan, Petracca, Van Berlo, Freeman (Dick, Dumont, Lambert)
RUCKS: Nic Nat, Leuy (COX)
FWDS: Goddard, Martin, Tmichell, Walters, Membrey, Clark (Hogan, C. Daniel)
Remaining Salary: 94,500
Not too sure about Walters, he was on my radar last year till his injury. I may replace him with Stevie Motlop.

I've now officially changed this into my diary thread.
DEFS: Shaw, Birchall, Hurn, Everitt,, Waters, Goddard (Warren, Wigg)
MIDS: Ablett, Pendles, Jelwood, Barlow, D Rich, Brayshaw, Van Berlo, Freeman (Dick, Dumont, Lambert)
RUCKS: Nic Nat, Leuy (COX)
FWDS: Deledio, Goddard, Martin, Tmichell, Membrey, Clark (Hogan, C. Daniel)
Remaining Salary: $19,800.

I'm more comfortable with this team here, it looks fairly solid.

INS: Deledio, Barlow, Rich and Brayshaw.
OUTS: Watson, Swan, Petrecca and Walters.

As a Carlton supporter I wouldn't be touching Everitt, Mick was using him in lockdown roles often which can kill his scoring.

I really do like it though.

It is an interesting team. Hurn, shaw, Birchall should be top 10... Wondering what you want out of Everitt... Won't be s top 10 IMO not priced low enough to be a cow.
Barlow is a top class pod, really like him.
Rucks are risky, I would look to upgrade leuy rather than him being s keeper.
Like you fwds, think swan is a must, top 10 for sure. Chuck Deledio out for him with wicka saying lids will play more forward.
Use left over cash for a 100% keeper down back.

DEFS: Shaw, Birchall, Hurn, Newnes, Waters, Goddard (Warren, Wigg)
MIDS: Ablett, Pendles, Jelwood, Barlow, D Rich, Brayshaw, Van Berlo, Freeman (Dick, Dumont, Lambert)
RUCKS: Nic Nat, Leuy (COX)
FWDS: Deledio, Goddard, Martin, Tmichell, Membrey, Clark (Hogan, C. Daniel)

Thanks so far for the advice guys. I jumped on the Newnes bandwagon which is a better pick. I'm sticking with my risky rucks as high risk could mean high reward (or failure).I'm undecided on the forward line. I could either A) Keep deledio and downgrade a couple from mid/defence to upgrade Tmitchell to Swan. Or, I can downgrade Deledio to possibly Christensen, Dahl or if I dare, Rioli.

I really think you need to lock in Swan as he will be top 5 for 465k.
Apart from that it's a good team.
Would downgrade Goddard to Swan because I like the Mitchell pick.

Spent a lot of time away from my SC team thinking i'd leave it until the NAB cup starts but with Waters being injured, it's forced me to make some changes.

Just 1 the change of N Brown in for Waters. This now leaves me with $139,600 leftover. 1 Possible trade I can do is get Bellchambers in for Membrey. However, i'm not sold on Bellchambers scoring well even though its good cover for the rucks. What should I do with the money guys?

UPDATE: With Lids having Achilles soreness, I thought i'd trade him out. That left me with a fair bit of cash to spend so I've made some more changes to the team.

DEFS: Shaw, Birchall, Hurn, Newnes, Brown, Goddard (Warren, Wigg)
MIDS: Ablett, Pendles, Jelwood, Barlow, A.Swallow, Heeny, Van Berlo, Freeman (Dick, Dumont, Lambert)
RUCKS: Nic Nat, Leuy (COX)
FWDS: Bartel, Goddard, Martin, Tmichell, Saad, Clark (Hogan, C. Daniel)
Remaining Cash: $87,500

Few things i'll be keeping an eye out is to see how Membrey fits into St Kilda's team. It's either him or Saad to take F5. Unsure about Jimmy but I think he's one of the best options around as a POD. Another one i'm considering is Patty Ryder or even NRoo although Nroo starts dropping off mid season but he's a strong starter and finisher. Andy Swallow at just over 500k is an absolute bargain for a player of his calibre. Been trying to get him into my team for awhile but with waters out, it gave me a bit of cash to upgrade Rich. I still got a bit of cash left so that could be used to upgrade some rookies e.g Saad or Brown if there are better options to choose when the NAB cup finishes.

p.s a name change was also done to The Socceroos

Still going to be a problem getting a rookie priced player to be D6 come season start. Allan Richardson in his interview with AFL.com.au basically said Goddard will not play early games.

Saad is on the rookie list at St Kilda and needs to be promoted to play. Keep that in mind.

you might want to ship off waters unlikely to play round 1

Hopefully Saad gets upgraded.

I made a second team, what do you think is better?
DEFS: Shaw, Hibberd, Hurn, Newnes, Lever, Maynard (Brown, Wigg)
MIDS: Ablett, Pendles, Jelwood, Barlow, A.Swallow, Heeny, Van Berlo, Freeman (Dick, Dumont, Lambert)
RUCKS: Nic Nat, Leuy (COX)
FWDS: Bartel, Goddard, Martin, Tmichell, Saad, Clark (Hogan, C. Daniel)

Or

DEFS: Shaw, Hibberd, Hurn, Newnes, Lever, Maynard (Brown, Wigg)
MIDS: Ablett, Pendles, Jelwood, A.Swallow, Hannebery, Heeny, Van Berlo, Freeman (Dick, Dumont, Lambert)
RUCKS: Nic Nat, Maric (COX)
FWDS: Goddard, Martin, Swan, Tmichell, Saad, Clark (Hogan, C. Daniel)

Team 2 for me but I think the Backs are too weak overall.

I've spent a fair bit of time away from SC since i've been pulling my hair out too much. I've made some changes to the side which I think is decent now.

DEFS: Shaw, Hibberd, Newnes, Lumumba, Dick, Maynard (Saad, Mckenzie)
MIDS: Ablett, Pendles, Jelwood, Barlow, A.Swallow, Van Berlo, Anderson, Vandernberg  (Heeny, Dumont, Lambert)
RUCKS: Nic Nat, Maric (COX)
FWDS: Goddard, Martin, Smith, Swan, Hogan, Clark (Karnezis, Krak)
Salary: $2,200

My concern is that backline since it's very weak. I might consider ibbo or Jamie Mac to fill D5 and look to downgrade Maric/Smith.

Yep you nailed it, downgrade Smith or Swallow and strengthen that back line.
But it will be glorious if 4 solid back rookies line up rd1  :)
Title: Re: C Judd 3 votes.

DEFS: Shaw, Gibson, Newnes, Lumumba, ,Pearce, Goodes (Saad, Dick)
MIDS: Ablett, Pendles, Jelwood, Barlow, Rich, Newton, Cripps, Vandernberg  (Heeny, Miller Lambert)
RUCKS: Nic Nat, Goldy (Read)
FWDS: Bartel, Martin, Swan, Salem, Hogan, Clark (Daniel, Steele)
Cash remaining: $61,300.

Starting to look better now. Only things to work on are some rookies and finding a decent ruck cover for R3.

Saad Dick on the bench.  ;D ;D ;D

Def - excellent
Mids - likewise
Rucks - NicNat underdone but huge ceiling so worth the risk
Fwd - A bit thin and Bartel surely on the slide at last - or at least I hope he is. Maybe Belly or Hale to cover R3?
Title: Re: C Judd 3 votes.
Post by: NickyBoy on March 24, 2015, 04:33:31 PM
I'm ready to ride some bad scores from NicNat but i'm hoping for some long-term gain from him. No way, I think Bartel is still a good player and would be easily in the top 5 fwds this season. Hale moves like a crab so its a no from me. Belly can be unpredictable with the ASADA investigation and his scoring could be over hyped.

DEFS: Shaw, Gibson, Newnes, Lumumba, ,Pearce, Goodes (Saad, Dick)
MIDS: Selwood, Sidebottom, Barlow, Parker, Griffen, Cripps, Vandernberg, CEY (Heeny, Miller Lambert)
RUCKS: Nic Nat, Goldy (Read)
FWDS: Bartel, Martin, Swan, Salem, Hogan, Clark (Daniel, Lamb)
Cash remaining: $142,100.

I went for a complete different strategy in my mids. Ablett will take some time to get back to his best so I'm expecting him to lower in price & same with Pendles. Parker & Sidebottom are great POD's who will definitely get 100+ each game.

I think you need one of them... Their first 5 rounds are pretty favourable for Pendles and Gaz so I wouldn't expect less that 115 from both of them... Ablett with saints and melbourne first 2 rounds should play himself into form reasonably quickly... Then I think they have cats, Giants and lions in no particular order... Few easy points there!
Pendles has lions, Blues, Crows, Saints, dons who he has very good records against from memory.

Definitely need 1 of them! I think if Ablett is named r1 you pick him over Pendles.

Abletts BE will be very high at the start of the season. I don't think he will be capable to get 140+ with his mind concerned about his shoulder injury.

MIDS: Fyfe, Sidebottom, Priddis, Parker, Dangerfield, Cripps, Newton, Cockatoo (Heeny, Anderson, CEY)
RUCKS: Maric, Goldy (COX)

Oh how times have changed... I wish I could go back and fix this team  :(

Current Team is:

DEFS: Shaw, Gibson, Newnes, Lumumba, Hunt, Mckenzie (Mcintosh, Hamling)
MIDS: Fyfe, Priddis, Danger, Parker, Lewis, Rocky, SJ, Cripps (Heeny, CEY, Saad)
RUCKS: Goldy, Maric (COX)
FWD: Martin, Dahl, Swan, Tmitch, Tarrant, Clark (Saad, Bont).
Trades left 16
Cash remaining: $99,300.

First bye is affecting me a lot, here is the team for this bye
DEFS: Shaw, Gibson, Newnes, Lumumba, Hunt, Mckenzie (Mcintosh, Hamling)
MIDS: Fyfe, Priddis, Danger, Parker, Lewis, Rocky, SJ, Cripps (Heeny, CEY, Saad)
RUCKS: Goldy, Maric (COX)
FWD: Martin, Dahl, Swan, Tmitch, Tarrant, Clark (Saad, Bont).
Only 12 playing with Mckenzie on the borderline (maybe 13). Should I do any trades this week? When Melbourne has their bye I plan to offload Lumumba and jump on Broadie Smith for a straight swap. Not sure of any other trades to do currently with a lack of rookies emerging.

Wow, mate you could be one of the only people who's really going to struggle this round but then be sweet as next round!

Not much you can do there from the looks of it, Tosh to A. Pearce, CEY to Boston and Clark to Gray nets you 3 more players this round, the best fwd out, and 211k left over going forward, and I think it leaves you still in good shape for the next round. But still copping 2 donuts so it's unlikely to get you a win, see if you think it's worth it...

I decided to cop the loses since i was in too much of a hole and save my trades for later rounds.

This round i'm going for lumumba --> Smith and Saad ---> Sloane.

Future trades will be either Kmac or Taylor Hunt ---> Edwards. CEY ---> Boston next round. Leaves me with 160k~ to then upgrade Cripps to JPK. However, if these are my future trades then it leaves me with 9 premo mids when rocky comes back. Should I trade Rocky or SJ out for some cash generation when another rookie pops up?
Title: Re: C Judd 3 votes.
Post by: NickyBoy on June 22, 2015, 01:39:15 PM
Last week of the bye trades
Mcintosh ---> Yeo
CEY ---> Boston
SJ ---> Pendles

My team is now

DEF: Shaw, Gibbo, Houli, Yeo, Newnes, Smith (Hunt, Hamling)
MIDS: Fyfe, Pendles, Priddis, Danger, Parker, Lewis, Rocky, Cripps (Mckenzie, Heeny, Boston)
RUCKS: Maric, Goldy (Cox)
FWD: Martin, Dahl, Tmitch, Swan, Bont, Steele (Tarrant, Saad).

I have 2 upgrades to do: Tarrant and either one of Mckenzie/Heeny. I plan on leaving cripps for the rest of the year at M9.

Next week trades: Hunt ----> Edwards
That gives me enough money to upgrade Tarrant to either Goddard or even motlop. Or I wait another week in hope of getting Gray after he drops down some more.
I hope Mckenzie plays for Saints so he can rise in price which makes it easier for me to upgrade him...

Cash remaining : $84,400

I was hoping to go Hunt ---> Edwards but looks like he may get the axe. Only other option is colquhoun but now i'm left with 499k to upgrade Tarrant. My dilemma is do I roll the dice with Gray in hope he drops by a large sum and Tarrant can try achieve his breakeven (2% chance of that). Or do I pull the trigger and just take Boomer instead?

Pretty happy with the team. I might trade out Smith for James Kelly next round and left the team like that for the finals.
