Title: AXV: 2018 OFFICIAL DRAFT THREAD
Post by: nas on October 07, 2018, 09:24:35 PM
2018 / 2019 Off Seasons Drafts.

General Draft Rules.

1. Picks are to be taken in a maximum of 24 hours from the pick before, and in a maximum of 2 hours from coming online at FF

**Note** as voted in re the 2018 Rule discussion thread: First round only: but if it goes over, you get the next allocated AFL drafted player. Also if you log on prior to the next coach pick, you can change the allocated pick.

2. **Applies from 2nd round: You will forfeit your draft pick if you have not picked within 24 hrs of the preceding pick or within 2 hrs of being on line following preceding pick.  Should this situation occur you may take you pick at any time following from players still available.

3. Draft picks can only be taken in either draft if the team with the pick has a vacant position on their respective list. If not they will not be able to take the pick and will pass.

4. Where Players picked go on your lists: With the removal of the Rookie list all players now go on the Seniors List.

5. Players that are available in the drafts:

a) National Draft - Players picked in the AFL National Draft and any rookie upgrades that AXV Clubs would like to make (Note: This is the only way to move a player from your rookie list to the senior list without de-listing and re-drafting them)

b) Players picked in the AFL Rookie & Pre-Season Drafts, players de-listed by AXV Clubs & Players from the left-over player pool from the National Draft & previous seasons.

THE NATIONAL DRAFT:

This draft will be 5 rounds of selections from the players taken in the 2017 AFL National Draft all players to go on senior lists.

* Teams may choose to PASS at any time any number of times during the National Draft.

* When a team chooses to PASS in the National Draft, they will receive that pick at the same number in the preseason/rookie draft.

PRE-SEASON/ROOKIE DRAFT:

The preseason/rookie draft will be 5 rounds of selections.

* In the event that any team PASSES in the "NATIONAL DRAFT", any number of times, these passed picks will be taken at the same number they were in the national draft in the preseason/rookie draft.

* In the event you have more retirements and or delistings from your club than you have picks to replace those players you will receive compensation picks at the end of the rookie/preseason draft to fill your team to the list cap levels.

KEEPING PLAYERS ON YOUR LIST WHO ARE DE-LISTED BY AFL CLUBS: As per the rule discussion thread: Finalise squads after AFL Draft. Players will be needed to be removed from list by **TBA**

*As a courtesy, please pm the coach who has the pick after yours in the draft

No waiting on BB, but been over 2 weeks since last log on. Going to make a call re the Retirement Delisting thread & set a date. Then we can transfer over them & get a move on. Hope that all is ok with BB tho.

Appreciate the help that I'm receiving from Nige

Well, the admin hasn't been sighted in 16 days. I hope everything is okay with BB, but that's absolutely ridiculous at the same time. I'm just doing what I can to help us move along as best we can and am happy to pitch in to help out for the time being. nas usually plays 2IC to BB but I had a chat to him and as he just said above he'll make an executive decision sooner rather than later and hopefully BB shows up some time soon with an explanation.

Surely it isnt a massive issue, I for one, wont be logging on much over christmas, so if we cant get the draft done in the next few days, does it really matter if we dont start till next year??

Maybe we could get someone to look after his team for a while .. Rookie Draft .. they don't need to trade. I don't mind doing it, i would honestly pick the best players in my opinion for him.

Also Rids mentioned he would help out again if needed now his bubs is doing well. Not sure if this is still the same?

At the end of the day i just want to know if the competition is going to continue so i don't have to log in all the time making sure i don't miss anything.

It's not so much about starting the draft now as it is just about getting things up to date for whenever we do start and concern over the fact that a comp admin not logging in for 16 days is a bit of a worry.

Nat draft finished two weeks ago to the day and I imagine that the intention was to have it started and finished by now so we wouldn't have to even worry about drafting over Christmas or waiting until the new year.

Given we've waited this long, I'm not too fussed when it starts at this point. Personally (and I'm sure others too), I just want(ed) some kind of update after zero activity in this part of the forum for two weeks hence taking the time to get every up to date and give nas a chop out as I know he's been trying to do so whilst being pretty busy with things going on in his life.

Certainly not the worst option, probably best for the someone like nas (since he's basically caretaker atm) or someone independent to do it though, I'm sure we could find someone if it came to that.

Haven't heard or seen much of Rids lately, I know he checks in from time to time but is "hidden" while online. He's a busy man too, and obviously has a little fella as we know so I'm sure he's busy enough.

Like I said, happy to help nas out in the interim. Pretty quiet time of year for me. Run ADT with LF but that's pretty well sorted and chip in to help Holz (and nas) with Euros when and where I can, so I don't mind doing what I can here too since I really just want this comp up and running somewhat properly again because I do enjoy it for what it is.

I enjoy the comp as well, i kind of just want to get the Rookie draft done and dusted so i don't have to think about it anymore. Then everyone can just come and go as they please until we get closer to the new season.

I'm with you there, but unfortunately with the activity of AXVs coaches making it the slowest comp when it comes to drafting, it just doesn't look likely we'd get it done before Christmas.

Took us 9 days for the nat draft, which means if it takes us the same amount of time, even if we started right now then we wouldn't finish until Boxing Day and the closer we get to Christmas, the less likely people are gonna be active (by their own admission, as well as what history suggests).

Unfortunately, because some people don't like coming on every day to check and some don't like leaving lists, combined with the time of the year, the ideal scenario is extremely unlikely to play out.

Yep I'm away for close to a month after Christmas with little internet (and none for 11 days of that on a cruise). I didn't think it would be a problem considering we normally have everything done by now. But this doesn't seem to be the case.

I have offered a few times now to help out but haven't heard anything back from anyone. At the end of the day, I gathered that my offer was not required. More than happy to just coach the team without the additional load so happy to leave it as is now.

I have been popping online every few days to see if anything has progressed or not. Nostra and I only look after 2 teams now in the XV comps and with BXV drafts etc wrapped up, it is only really waiting for this one to begin.

Mate, re not being contacted, in my case was due to the health problems that your family has had (hope that health problems are on the up) & pretty sure BB would have been under the same thoughts that you wouldn't wanted us to DM you asking if you could do this & that. My thoughts were that "if things got better on the home front then it would have been your call to offer."

I have been in limbo since the 26/11 re a DM to BB so know where your coming from re not receiving a reply.

Without the help of Nige I would be further behind to where we are now.

I have posted multiple times saying that things were back to normal (as normal as having a 9 month baby can be), and that I was more than willing to help out where and when required. All good though. Nige has been able to help out etc so more than happy to just be a co-coach. The last thing I want to do is step on anyone's toes. I appreciate people helping out when I needed to take a break and it was never assumed I would just waltz back in when things were better.

I will leave it up to others in regards to what role I will play. Happy to do whatever is required to get the comp back rolling.

Ok as answered a few times I was trying to await BB to come back on, but seeing as you are keen then go for it. Not with my blessings  tho. Trying to be courteous to Admin. One team has 51, been on & awaiting to remove 1 player. Have been trying with DM's, but to no avail. My hands are tied.

Can confirm all of this. nas has been in communication with me about everything since I’ve been giving him a hand. We’ve got BB AWOL for the entire month to date, SR has basically categorically ruled out coming on through the Christmas period, nas has asked 1 team to delist a player so we can start. Wouldn’t be fair to do so before it happens in case any team wants to draft that player.

We’ll ride out the Christmas season as it’s a busy time for all and then start in the new year. Jan 7th 2019 is the start date, first Monday of the new year. Not everyone will agree with this date, but nas and I have agreed it’s for the best. Unfortunately we can’t please everyone.

Well just remove the Crabs last draft pick which was #60 Z.Foote, to bring their list to 50.
BB hasn't been on for almost a month, can't wait forever.  Folders don't have a pick until #9, so we can at least get to there.

In saying that, I also don't mind waiting until after December if that's what happens.

They’ve got the ability to delist whoever they want and we’re not taking that choice away from them.

With some luck, maybe we’ll have heard from BB by the set draft date as well.

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year all!  :)

I never received a message about the 51 players on the Crabs list. We are happy to have our last selected player to be removed (Foot I believe).

I actually thought the team lists were meant to be 51 btw. They were originally 40 + 6 rookies then we removed the rookie list and added another 5 players from the add on players. All good though.

I replied with an answer to your DM where the stage was & reply quote "All good mate .. thanks for info"
Sure was a few days back earlier in Dec, but I answered & politely in return.

Like i said i don't care when we have the Rookie draft (don't actually care who i pick to be honest i can give a list of 50 players if you like.) Just give us a date ..Jan Feb March ... then i don't have to ask all the time and i can get on when i like.

We’ll ride out the Christmas season as it’s a busy time for all and then start in the new year. Jan 7th 2019 is the start date, first Monday of the new year. Not everyone will agree with this date, but nas and I have agreed it’s for the best. Unfortunately we can’t please everyone.

Tom will be picking in that case for me just fyi. No internet from about the 6th to the 21st

Will start a new thread as to keep it it in one place in prep for Monday the 7/1/19.
