The top 4 play off in finals after that.
Round 20: 1st v 2nd, 3rd v 4th

I, Nigel S, would like to apply to be one of the inaugural coaches of a V League team.
Background: After joining the FanFooty is August 2012, I became a fairly frequent poster in the Front Bar and team boards (particularly that of my beloved Tigers). I'm also known to frequent the fantasy boards from time to time and after involving myself in the XVs world in late 2012, have been in and around WXVs, BXVs and AXVs quite a bit.

- Active and aggressive coaching style.
- Never too far away.
- Above average footy knowledge.
- Not a glory hunter.
- Doesn't mind a win.
- Decisive and committed

Sponsors: Pepsi (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/e9/Pepsi_logo_2008.svg/288px-Pepsi_logo_2008.svg.png), Metinvest (http://www.mining-journal.com/__data/assets/company_logo/0010/257284/metinvest-companynews.jpg), KooGa (https://www.essa.org.au/essa-shop/images/424/?260,200,1,-139142240)
No.1 Ticket Holder: Andriy Shevchenko (http://en.ria.ru/images/17758/62/177586249.jpg)
Plan: The Kiev Kingfishers franchise plans to be one of the premier teams in the V League. Playing host to big name stars, future guns and hopefully V League silverware, The Kingfishers shall approach all auctions conservatively, but make strong plays for players they believe to be worth the money. An auction such as this will require strong decision-making, a stand-out trait of the coach, but also a good conscience to know when it is right to drop out of the race. It is pivotal that money management is looked after when building the squad as the $10m could easily be chewed on franchise players who are obviously a cut above the rest.
And a strong standard set!
My Application coming soon :)
This looks like a great idea and I would love to join.
Who am I?
I am the Pelican. I have been on FanFooty for a few weeks and have loved it. I have made a few posts and have tried for a few XV coaching roles and failed.
Experience
I am an assistant at the Huddersfield Hawks
Team
Name: Istanbul Eagles (If either Istanbul or Eagles have been used in another XV I will change the name)
Location: Istanbul, Turkey
Mascot: Evren the Double-Headed Eagle
Home Ground: Ataturk Olympic Stadium
Sponsors: Petrol Ofisi, BMC, Sabancı Holding
Plan
The Istanbul Eagles would bid for young players to build a team which will have the same core for many years to come. They will trade for youth as well. There will be a lot of research that will go into the Eagles' team. Hopefully with the youth approach, Istanbul can win finals in a few years.
Thanks for reading

If you finish in the Top 5, you'll get the opportunity to retain players from what I understand. :)
Might have to re-think my plan on going youth.
It wouldn't be impossible to make the Top 5 with a youthful team, but considering the players that will be auctioned, the task could be difficult (especially the franchise players, since most of them are older).
The following year, those teams still in the competition may get a chance to retain players and I'm hoping that and wondering whether Oss will take a similar route to the IPL and give continuing team a right-to-match card.
Ringo would like to apply for a 10 Franchise.
Ringo joined Fanfooty in March 2011 and became actively involved in the forum reaching veteran coach status and recently becoming a moderator of some boards. Am regularly on the forum end enjoy these fantasy games.

In an attempt to sell this competition to the Asian continent and cashing in on the Popularity of the IPL T20 we will be establishing a franchise in Bangalore and have negotiated with the KSCA- Kamataka State Cricket Association to use the magnificent M.Chinnaswamy Stadium for these matches. (Very happy to work with our neighbouring franchise the Karachi Rhinos in this regard,) The current president of the KSCA Annil Kumble was very enthusiastic in our approaches and was looking forward to working with us should a franchise be granted.
Franchise will be known as the

Additional photos of the Stadium in this link: http://ksca.co.in/ksca-stadium
For the sake of privacy in ongoing negotiations sponsors will be disclosed at franchise opening.
Plans for the franchise without giving away our full plans we will be using the $10m fully to establish franchise and envisage securing a marquis player who will promote the competition in Bangalore. We have established a budget to work with in deciding how much to allocate each player to complete the 10 player roster. The Tigers will be aiming to be competitive from Day 1 and will be aiming to win the competition as well so as to give Bangalore a solid insight to the AFL 5's.
I'd like to be an inaugural V League coach :)

About me: I joined FanFooty in May 2012, and started regularly coming on FanFooty towards the end of that year. Most of my posts are in the 'Players and Trades' boards, and in the mighty Brisbane Lions board. I started playing Dream Team (now AFL Fantasy) in 2011, and I have gotten better ever since. In late 2012 I joined the Swansea Breakers in BXV and the Manila Folders in AXV. I am now co coach with Ringo in BXV, and am an assistant to Nails in WXV. I also have teams in TX and the AXVIII competitions.

Might have to re-think my plan on going youth.
Yeah, the XV competitions are more about list development, this is meant to move away from that formula
It's about time Estonia got some love. 8)
Always had this fascination with Eastern European states, glad somebody knows what's up. :P
about me - hey Guys I'm DazBurg i joined FF May 23, 2010 i'mon everyday
though i do pot alot less these days i tend to read more then actually post these days
in terms of WXV's experience i am assistant to HP at PNL in Worlds and Iceland in Euro's
though the euro's one is more of a token title as i do nothing at all as i don't wish to get confused between too many comps
so i focus on worlds and help HP as most coaches know form there having had the pleasure of trying to trad with myself :D
as far as the team goes this is what i have come up with so far
Team Name - Melbourne Gladiators
(http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g445/DazBurg/melbournegladiators2_zpsc2f70170.jpg)
Home Ground - Melbourne Cricket Ground

Mascot -
(http://i1102.photobucket.com/albums/g445/DazBurg/gladiator-carthage_zps4ac1fa3f.jpg)
Sponsors - To be Confirmed
Plan: Well i do like the idea as it seems alot easier to maintain and keep control over although i do also like the though of keeping players (not all) but as may have been said 2 or 3 from year to year if the coach chooses too or like stated like the IPL in a right to match etc - so until this is decided on my plans may and most likely will change depending on the outcome
well compared to others my application doesn't look to flash but then again i'm not that great at graphics and coming up with mascots etc i will be attempting to make some logos etc but of course they will take me some time to come up with something that looks complete crap if i devote less time then it is unreadable crap..lol
Edit: (Btw most might think its boring to use melbourne instead of overseas team but after looking at the teams in the big 4 comps i noticed only JB has the Australian Ales and the rest are international so thought it best to add some more home country to the mix)

I'd like to apply for a position in the V league because I love a challenge & the simple yet unique format is an exciting new challenge. I've been on FanFooty for nearly 4 years now and I have been playing Supercoach & DT since before then up until now with mixed success. I have been involved in the World's since the beginning of the comp being one of the very first coaches to join. Although I haven't been as active of late, I was at one stage top of the most time spent online list with over a 150 days spent on here so I am definitely active enough :P
Team Name: Jakarta Moonsoon

Ground: Gelora Bung Karno Stadium http://imageupper.com/s02/1/8/M139304260810507_1.jpg (not letting me put it in the post)
Strategically located in Senayan, South Jakarta it can hold up to 80,000 people and has shown it can be adapted to any kind of event, sporting or entertainment. It is located literally right in front of my apartment and I have been running there many times so I can vouch that it is a great stadium with many access points & a well maintained playing field. I will take a picture once it stops raining.
As I am based out of Jakarta, Indonesia, I feel strongly about creating a new team there. The monsoon is inspired by the fact it is currently pouring with rain and the golf course outside my window is completely flooded. Rain along with traffic are the two main things people notice when they come to Jakarta so I believe it is a fitting yet intimidating name 8) Indonesian's love their sport and are very passionate supporters so I think they will adapt well to this exciting 20/20 style format & with me being based here & having a knowledge of the local culture & language I am the perfect person to help bring the game to Indonesia 8)
Plans: We will be cautious in the bidding process to make sure we don't get tricked into overspending on any single player and go for overall strength rather than do a Gold Coast and rely on one marquee player only. In terms of game style we will live up to our name and either literally flood our opposition in the water bowl of our home stadium or flood them Sydney of old style. Sponsors will be revealed if the team is approved.
Hopefully that all makes sense as I'm a bit tipsy as someone decided to get me drunk for my birthday (tomorrow). I thought it was apple juice.
Lot of strong candidates so far:
Current Applicants
Karachi Rhinos - NigeyS [Pakistan]

And offed my house for Jack Redden.
This looks like fun. Thought I'd throw my name in the ring.
For those who don't know me, my name is Master Q. I'm rather active, especially during the season on Thursdays and Fridays when teams and trading get done, and on the weekend when matches occur. Arguably one of FanFooty's most knowledgeable coaches, I have plenty of experience in all forms of fantasy footy. I finished 666th in Fantasy last year, and will be participating in the Elxam Champions League this season. I also had a rather high finish in SC last year as well. XVs wise, I am a former Co-Coach of the Pacific Islanders until taking my talents to the Beijing Thunder, teaming up with Toga. I feel we have done a strong job rebuilding the team and are looking forward to a fantastic 2014.
I am proud to announce the second (possible) Australian franchise, the:
Christmas Island Dreams
Logo and sponsors yet to be confirmed. Plenty of refugees and asylum seekers looking for work, so a stadium can be built as soon as we get the heads up.
Thanks
Master Q

Just a thought, on "keepers" for teams that will still be in the comp, probably be best if it's only 1 player kept. That way it's like a franchise with a star/marquee player and with only 10 players per team, you're not hoarding the good players.

I think two is fine.
The marquee player + another player of the coach's choosing.
Then the 'right-to-match' card too.
At the moment I'm leaning towards having no "keepers"..
... But things like 'right to match' or some kind of discount when bidding (i.e. you could bid $2m for a player you already have, but only $1.8m counts on salary cap) seem much better to me.
The issue I have with keepers is someone might select Joe Bloggs for $100,000.... But he has a breakout year... It would be pretty unfair to be able to keep him on $100,000.
Could it potentially work as such where the top 3 have two RTM cards and teams who finish 4th and 5th have one?

Just make it so a keeper has to come out of the top 50 players. Or be one of the first 2-3 drafted by the club.

That still means that they are getting a player potentially worth millions for a bargain price.

Just make it so a keeper has to come out of the top 50 players. Or be one of the first 2-3 drafted by the club.
That still means that they are getting a player potentially worth millions for a bargain price.
yeah i agree has to be a right to match type thing i reckon for this very reason Ossman ;)

Still think each franchise should name say three desired players each year and that franchise has the right to match offers on the three players but the new price is the price the player will be in their Salary Cap. If a franchise decides not to match player leaves. Think retaining 3 out of 10 should be allowed.

Is it? $400k BASE is a lot different to just $100k. And you know, if someone wants to keep Judd because he only costs 500k towards the cap, leaving the other stars still on the table, more boon to them.
Could just have it that a player can only stay 2/3 seasons at most at any franchise.
^ I like what Ringo suggests, and have the 'right to match' for x amount of players. That way you get to keep the players you want, at whatever value the market has them.
Do you not have to bid when it's RTM? Just wait for the highest offer and then you can match it?

Not sure if the New Delhi Tigers will be particularly thrilled about another Indian franchise also called the Tigers :/ But they haven't complained so far....

Well, I think it's pretty obvious that being one of the best players on offer that he'll go for quite a bit.
$10m is the budget, I'd easily bid at least $2m. ;)

The maximum bid for any player will be $9.1m, every player costs at least $100k, so you need to have room to pay the other 9 in your team!
Yeah, exactly.
You have to bid pretty smart.
Considering a starting team is 5 players, the best players should go for at least $2m.
I think the thing that makes it interesting is that a team could potentially load up with a team full of mids if they wanted.
just a clarification and think I am correct - A franchise must have 10 players eg we can not leave 2 positions vacant because we have used cap.
Just working out my strategies.
Also reading the rules there is no captain for double points from the 5 so assuming that is the case only 5 players score with no bonuses.. Adds to strategy I am working on.

Kingfisher Airlines are no longer in business, no use having them as a sponsor! :o I did once fly domestically with them in India before they went out of business though.

Plan
Bringing the game of football to the far north of Canada.
Montreal has
a bright plan of paying premium prices for stars of the game whilst then using
remaining change to bring in breakout players at basement prices and creating
an empire that will be the envy of the V league.
Experience: Head Coach
of Seoul Magpies, English Lions, Huddersfield Hawks and Australian Ales
This
experience gives me a head start in knowledge of lesser known players and players
value when drafting.
Give the Maple Leafs a go and you wont
be let down!
^ sorry about the format!

PHOENIX FIREBIRDS
I'll come up with some details later for my team.
Right!
Let's get this moving......
I'll start two bidding threads in the WXV forum - and 2 players will be up for Auction on any given day.
Great stuff Oss i love the fact you changed it to 12 so no one misses out :)
hey Oss quick question regarding the bidding
so no only do we have to make sure we have 10 we have to make sure we are sure of those 10?
my example is lets use ivan maric now if i was thinking of putting say a 450k bid on him just to see if i can get a cheapie (thinking of the budget etc)
but no one else bids and after i get him and the rest of my players i realize i have spent only 8 million leaving me 2 million left
but i'm locked in to those 10 now am i not?
so basically be sure i've thought it though on the chance of winning the bid etc?
think i pretty much answered my question just needed to type it out and i realized...lol
Yep all bids are final :) you cant spend the change though!
