The guernsey
(http://img856.imageshack.us/img856/2347/guernsey.png)

Based on the traditional Port Adelaide Magpies strip, this is the home and away guernsey for the Buenos Aires Armadillos. AFL club North Melbourne have been bagged for wearing something similar, but the Aramdillos believe they will not be given the same reception.

The word is that the Armadillos have found the space to afford an assistant coach. They are currently in discussion with a few managers.

And the Armadillos have found an Assistant coach. I don't think the recuitee realised he would be given nothing but Bread, water, and Subway Cookies for his wage, but we have an assistant coach:

So with the season starting in around 2-3 months, the coach has decided to call off all training until Early February. Yesterday the players were treated to a 6-course meal in the heart of Buenos Aires, pigging out on alot of food and sculling down over 3 beers each. Captain Dane Swan was very happy with the idea that the coach came up with:
"It was a very fun day, the whole side bonded together and we all know each other 'very' well after the long day and very long night."

Armadillos's recruit Billie Smedts having a bite to eat.

Word from the Argentinian Police is that the players woke up at the back of the restaurant early Monday morning in a massive heap. Thankfully for the Armadillos, no photos have been released of this incident so it can only be taken as rumours for now.

Pretty happy with the way the team is progressing. unfortunately went down in Rd 1, but there are plaenty more rounds to come, and if we make the finals, anything can happen. :)

Plenty of players pushing for selection this week, especially in the midfield. Unfortunately it hard for younger players (e.g. Clay Smith) to break into the side with Swan, Boyd, Jordie McKenzie and Travis Boak all there.

Hoping to turn things around against wellington this weekend.

And we lost again. Jordie McKenzie asking to be dropped with a dismal 46.

State of the Team: May 2nd

Backline:
Heath Scotland and Shannon Hurn have assured their spots in the side with very solid starts to the season, Johncock looks the goods to take the 3rd place permanently, while the final place currently rests with Paul Stewart. David Wojcinski is almost back to making the Geelong side, and will be looking to slot straight into the Armadillos at the same time. Ban Jacobs and Simon Buckley have played some nice games, but the consistency and scoring potential is lacking. Tom Logan and Cameron Bruce look to be on the outer at their AFl clubs, Dan Nicholson is yet to play, while Matt Dea sustained an injury during the West Coast match and may not play for the Tigers this week.

List: H.Scotland , S.Hurn , G.Johncock , P.Stewart , B.Jacobs , S.Buckley , B.Smedts , M.Dea , C.Bruce , D.Nicholson , D.Wojcinski , T.Logan

Midfield:
Dane Swan and Matthew Boyd have been outstanding, both averaging alot of points and look to hold down the captaincy spot. The 3rd and 4th spot are held by Port Adelaide duo Travis Boak and Kane Cornes, with Cornes looking like he's back to his scoring best, averaging near 100ppg. Jordie McKenzie, David Rodan and Jared Petrenko have all started solidly, but are finding it difficult to break into the top 4 mids at Buenos Aires. Clay Smith, Jesse Stringer, Dean Polo and Jesse O'Brien have all played some games and are providing adequate cover, hopefully they won't be needed though. Jordan Gysberts is recovering from injury and should be back in the coming weeks, and he should find a spot in the Armadillos 15 as the head coach rates this guy highly.

]List:D.Swan , M.Boyd , T.Boak , K.Cornes , J.McKenzie , J.Petrenko , D.Rodan , C.Smith , J.Stringer , D.Polo , B.Meredith , J.O'Brien , T.McIntyre , M.Mascoulis , L.Jong , D.Nicholson , W.Young , M.Robinson , H.Scotland , J.Gysberts

Ruckline:
Jarrad Redden has held the ruckline together since the start of the season, but has since gone down with some 'general soreness' and will miss his 3rd game in a row. Robbie Warnock comes in to play his first game, while Nathan Vardy is recovering from an injury. The massive raps the Crows had on Josh Jenkins has been yet another made up story from the South Australian media, with the young ruckman not impressing and doesn't look like getting a game in the near future.

List: R.Warnock , N.Vardy , J.Redden , J.Jenkins , B.Dowdell , J.Craig

Forwards:
Mitch Robinson, Stewart Crameri and Justin Westhoff have all been playing well and will hold down the first 3 spots in the forward line. The 4th position is a real puzzle, with no-one wanting to take that spot. Ideally Chad Cornes or Jay Schulz would be nice to have, but Cornes is resting up again, and Jay Schulz can't see out of one eye, and will be needing a couple of weeks off. Billie Smedts has done alright, and is getting some experience into him. Michael Osborne gets a chance to shine, and will be starting for the Armadillos this weekend. Kepler Bradley has been disappointing, and Jarryd Lyons will get his 2nd game this weekend.

List: M.Robinson , S.Crameri , J.Westhoff , C.Cornes , J.Schulz , B.Smedts , K.Bradley , M.Osborne , A.Buchanan , J.Lyons , T.McIntyre , B.Bray

I think next time i'll get an assistant of mine to do this, they do nothing.

Yes, missed out on selection for the first 4 weeks. He has since spoken and is playing. (Him not playing may have had something to do with the AFL club he's associated with. :-X)

Well, Captain Swan looks to have gone down with a hamstring injury, leaving the door ajar for some younger players to get a run. Hopefully Jordan Gysberts is back next week, he's is like Foley of my Euros team.

Gysberts, Petrenko, McIntyre, and Warnock "in the mix" to return this week. If 2 of them can get a game i'll be happy. :D Can't afford to drop any games from here in. Wojo to miss, would like to see Johncock return one day, i think he's gone missing down at crowland too. :(

Having scraped into a Prelim final, the Armadillos welcome back superstar Dane Swan. The Armadillos are considered to be the "weaker" of the 4 remaining teams, though with Dane Swan, anything is possible. :)
