Swans premiership ruckman Shane Mumford has accepted an offer to join cross town rivals, the Greater Western Sydney GIANTS.
One of the game's premier ruckmen, Mumford has played 100 AFL games and was a member of the Swans 2012 premiership side.
The GIANTS will now work to facilitate a trade for the out of contract ruckman when the AFL Trade Period starts next week or secure him through the AFL pre-season draft.
Mumford said he was excited to be joining the GIANTS for the next three years.
Massive get for the Giants, they needed a ruckmen.
Pick 19 would be nice?
trade radio were talking 30odd and since he can walk into the PS draft we dont have all that much negotiating power

Yeah that's what I was thinking, a second round pick will get it done.
Good get i think, anyone think he might become more fantasy relevant without having to share with Pyke?

He's going to be very fantasy relevant, he'll be their No.1 ruck. Will be priced at a 79 average iirc.
He could be a very good buy next year. Has a huge ceiling and can have some big games. Depends how they use him and Giles next year. I'm not really sure, does Giles play well as a forward?

giles is a pretty decent forward, a solid mark and is really accurate.
Wow that is awesome for GWS :)

Pretty sure he's had a couple of 4 goal games...
there were a couple of games, especially last year, where if we'd had 2 of giles, we would have won them...
I just realised this will be Mummy's third club. :o
Cheap enough for SC?
Hmm he will be priced on an average of 88. 470k based on this years magic number.
Finished the year with: 89,95,77,123,113,111,102,91,159. So he is a very capable scorer.
Not for me but one to look at.

To be fair, he didn't get a good run at the Cats, and maybe he feels Buddy creates an abundance of talls and no room for him? Still, he is getting paid quite a lot at the Giants for the player he is, so can you really blame him?

Always been a quality scorer, it's just about staying on the pitch for the big fella.
Shane Mumford has officially been traded to the Giants in exchange for the Giants third round pick - #35.
not all bad, should have got more, is a better player than Hampson @ 28
But could have gone to GWS in PS

Yeah he is obviously worth more than that, but as you said he could've walked for nothing so I think it's a fair trade. As a Swan supporter I'd be happy getting pick 35 for Mumford, as it's better than nothing.

Would have liked a higher pick but its better than nothing. We would have got worse if he left as a free agent

he wasnt a free agent, he was just going to walk into the psd... so you would have gotten nothing at all :P
