Rising ruckman Scott Lycett says he has the best coach in the league.

Working closely this pre-season with former club champion and current ruck coach Dean Cox, Lycett has trained more than any other squad member over this summer campaign.

The 22-year-old is hopeful that the benefits of Cox’s expert tutelage will produce visible results in his game.

“This year we’ve really got the chemistry together,” Lycett said of Cox.

“He’s a fantastic coach and I’m hoping I can be half the player he was.

“I’ve got the best coach in the competition I reckon, so hopefully it plays out that way on the field.”

Having extended his contract with the club in August last year, Lycett’s confidence grew markedly with each game he played and the South Australian began to look more at home as an Eagle.

Now poised to step up his workload for the team, Lycett says he hopes to spend the rest of his career playing for the blue and gold.

“Hopefully I can get another four-year contract and just win a premiership with West Coast, that’s the ultimate goal,” Lycett said.

“I’d love to be a one-club player. I love this club, they gave me my chance, so I think [staying here] is a no-brainer.”
