So on Thursday I won a satellite to get a seat into the Sunraysia Ace on the River tournament. $220 buyin with a guaranteed 20k prize pool. They say first place is something like 6-7k. Nervous

North Melbournes Finest

I've played a lot of sit and go tournaments on Poker Stars, started with $20, and over a couple of months got the account up to $100, obviously that's not amazing but a profits a profit. Just something to pass the time anyway.

Oh yeah and I play Texas No Limit Holdem.

no need to be nervous, just remember u won your way into it.  so really its a freeroll for you.  you can only win you cant lose.
and if that doesnt make you feel more comfortable, then have a few drinks before u play haha

I am giving this a bump instead of starting a new thread.

I downloaded a World Poker Tour Game on the 360 and have been playing over the last few nights. You can join ring games and test your skills out against other players online. No real money is involved, just the chips you are given to start off and daily bonuses. If anyone has XBOX Live Gold it is a free download and I highly recommend it for a bit of fun.

Yeah used to love those games but now I just drop down to 5c/10c for fun :P Good to see some people into their cards.

The government in all their wisdom has banned online poker, so you only have a few weeks left to get your fix.

It's apparently important to protect adults from playing a skilled based card game in their own home.
No problem though letting adults flush money done the drain playing Lotto, Keno, Pokies or Scratchy tickets.. Flowering joke.

We live in a "free" Country in 2017, where the internet is a very important part of our lives.
Since when should the government stick their noses into where we spend our money anyhow?  Can buy alcohol and cigarettes which cause health issues and is a strain on the health system.

Can sit all day at a pokie machine which is programmed to pay out 87%, guess what, every time you spin you are losing 13% of the cost of the spin.
So it's not like they are "protecting" the problem gambler.  Yeah go to the pub, drink(because you're at a pub) and play the slot machines, yeah that's fine.
Sitting at home throwing a few bucks at a virtual felt, while cooking dinner or whatever. NO you are a criminal, stop it!

They could tax online poker, just tax any sites that want to operate in Oz.   Or create a site in Oz and tax it like any company.
I think the Casinos have a vested interest in blocking overseas online gambling, wouldn't be surprised if a brown paper bag has been handed over at some point.

This is a statement from a week ago..
"The new law hasn’t been put in place yet and no timetable has been set on when sites such as PokerStars will exit the market."
