#26 Robin Nahas

Age: 25
Height/Weight: 176cm/70kg
Position: Forward
2012 SC ave: 70.2
2012 DT ave: 65.7
2013 SC Price:
2013 DT Price:
KCN says: Nahas started his football career at Port Melbourne after being deemed to small to make it at AFL level. He was finally given his chance by Richmond whom picked him with their ninth pick in the 2009 rookie draft. Due to his light frame his game relies on pace which he has in spades. Usually plays a small goal kicking role for the Tigers and occasionally moves up the ground into the midfield. His first few seasons were good but it not until the 2011 AFL season where he really hit his straps, subsequently putting in several match winning performances where he was both prolific on the scoreboard and in the disposal counts. In 2012 Nahas was not as fruitful, although he regularly played his part in a good season for the Tiger’s. He was a useful rookie for fantasy coaches in his debut season playing 19 games with averages of 71 and 69 respectively for DT and SC, he wouldn’t have broken many hearts in his second season as he was in his second year and would not have been a regular feature in many teams. For his third season he became a fantasy revelation with many handy scores in the forward line.  However with his form his fantasy scoring also fell last season to a mere 65 average in DT and 70 in SC.. While I do not expect him to return to his free flowing scoring of 2011 in the new season, I do expect him to raise his average a small amount in DT and maybe a little more in SC. Additionally I predict that he will play a big role in the Tigers on field fortunes as he is now one of the older players in the side and will have a larger responsibility. Due to his position in the side being cemented and assuming that he does not lose consistency or get injured “touch wood” he will be a capable pick in XV competition for at least another 5 years or so.

#1 Chris Newman

Age: 30
Height/Weight: 183cm/82kg
Position: Defender
2012 SC ave: 77
2012 DT ave: 71
2013 SC Price: 409,000
2013 DT Price: 364,800
TheAnt says: A very good player for Richmond, Newman is starting to go on the decline. His best days of fantasy football may be over. In saying that however, there is a very good chance he could get played as a permanent winger with some of the newer recruits coming in. With 6 defenders however, his fantasy relevance will take a bigger hit. I imagine he'll improve on his average this year, but the hard running, booming kick veteran from tigerland may not find himself in many taems this year.

#45 Brett O'Hanlon

Age: 19
Height/Weight: 189cm/87kg
Position: Forward
2012 SC ave: 34.1
2012 DT ave: 37.2
2013 SC Price: $181,100
2013 DT Price: $190,400
Toga says: A competitive medium forward who was picked up by the Tigers at the start of 2012 in the Pre Season Draft, O'Hanlon showed glimpses of his ability in a year that for him, was ruined by the green vest. Played 8 games this year and started as sub on almost every occasion, his top score was 63DT and 67SC, both sub affected, showing that, if given a full game, he could be a fantasy relevant scorer. Given the Tigers' midfield depth going into 2013 I think that selecting him for your team would be far too risky, as his JS has taken a hit, along with the fact that he won't be discounted enough to be considered. Could be handy in the XVs in a few years time, but there is risk involved with his selection.

#18 Alex Rance

Age: 23
Height/Weight: 194cm/93kg
Position: Defender
2012 SC ave: 86.5
2012 DT ave: 71.3
2013 SC Price: $461,600
2013 DT Price: $367,400
Toga says: A rock in the Tigers defence in 2012, 'Tross' is now a crowd favourite at Tigerland. Showed his ability to shut down dangerous opponents such as Buddy Franklin this year, as well as posting some massive scores such as his 138 DT/125 SC vs. Collingwood in Round 2. The recruitment of Troy Chaplin in the Free Agency Period has me looking at Rance as a potential smokie for 2013, as I think it should free him up a bit. Maybe not for DT this year, but is certainly a viable option in SC, and is definitely one to look at in the XVs competitions, particularly in the World XV format.

#8 Jack Riewoldt

Age: 24
Height/Weight: 195cm/93kg
Position: Forward
2012 SC ave: 90.7
2012 DT ave: 80.1
2013 SC Price: $482,300
2013 DT Price: $412,600
Toga says: The spearhead of the Tigers' attack, Jack Riewoldt won his second Coleman Medal in 2012 in what was considered by most to be an off year from him. Struggled with a few injuries throughout the year, with the added pressure of being double teamed week in week out given the absence of Ty Vickery from the team, it's exciting to think what Jack could do next year injury-free and with teammates such as Vickery and Aaron Edwards now in the side. There's a good chance that the addition of these two to the side will relieve Jack of some pressure, and along with the increase in forward 50 entries with the Tigers' improvement, we could see a lift in his fantasy scoring next year. Already a viable option for your SC team, there might be better options for your DT, however he would make a handy addition to any XVs side.

#21 Shane Tuck

Age: 30
Height/Weight: 189cm/92kg
Position: Forward
2012 SC ave: 115.1
2012 DT ave: 104.8
2013 SC Price: $608,700
2013 DT Price: $538,200
Toga says: One of the most underrated mids in the competition, who has been a revelation under Damien Hardwick after years of struggle, Tucky had a stellar year in the Yellow and Black in 2012, upping his DT average from the year before by a whopping 34 ppg! A reliable player, with his lowest score being a first round sub-affected 47, he scored more than 90 points on 16 occasions this season, whilst 5 of his tons were 130+ DT and 10 of his tons were 130+ SC! So when Tucky goes big, its very big! As i said, he is very underrated as a midfielder, which is great for his DT and SC prospects because he is less likely to cop tags from opposition teams whilst lining up alongside Cotchy and Lids. Despite this, he is entering the final stages of his career at 30 years old, so I wouldn't be trading for him in the XVs competitions.

#29 Ty Vickery

Age: 22
Height/Weight: 200cm/95kg
Position: Forward
2012 SC ave: 52.2
2012 DT ave: 47.4
2013 SC Price: $280,500
2013 DT Price: $243,900
Toga says: After an impressive 2011 season which saw Vickery play 22 games and boot 35 goals for Richmond, 2012 was a bit of a disappointment, playing only 9 games before his season ended after shoulder surgery. Sorely missed in the Tigers' attack as a foil for Jack Riewoldt, big things are expected of Vicks in 2013, which will be his fifth season in the system. So, a KPF entering his fifth season, who has already proven that he can kick 35+ goals in a year... Breakout anyone? Could definitely be one to watch over pre season, as he is underpriced, and if he's looking good, might be the smokie that sees you soar up the rankings next year. Will take balls, but could pay off!

#31 Nick Vlastuin

Age: 18
Height/Weight: 187cm/86kg
Position: Defence/Midfield
2013 SC Price:
2013 DT Price:
KCN says:Taken at #9 as the tiger’s first pick of the 2012 national draft Vlastuin is a solidly built midfielder whom possesses the ability to play either as an inside midfielder or off the half back flank. His 2012 form earned him All-Australian selection as a defender following his efforts with the Northern Knights and his representative team Vic Metro, which established him as one of the brightest prospects of this year’s draft. His price will have the expected premium that comes with being picked at number 9, of the current crop of draftees at Richmond he will have the best job security and I estimated him to get around 15 games this season playing as either a half back or in the guts. He will not set the world alight although should give coaches an honest return for their value. Should become a regular member of the tiger’s side in the coming years, which will make him a good pick up in XV competitions.

JROO8 says: White has a lot pace and normally plays at half-forward. But in 2013, I don't expect to see White much. He couldn't get many games in 2012 and the Tigers have bolstered their forward line with the inclusions of Edwards, Knights and Petterd and I can't see him breaking into the side for to many games and when he does play he would probably be the sub. I wouldn't pick him in your fantasy side as he isn't a high scorer and doesn't have good JS. At best he would be forward depth in your XV squad.

Rookie List
Richmond only have 38 players on their senior list, meaning they can upgrade two rookies. Ricky Petterd, Sam Lonergan and Orren Stephenson will all be fighting for these two spots.

#48 Ben Darrou

Position: Defender

2012 DT ave: 0
2013 SC Price: xxxx
2013 DT Price: xxxx
JROO8 says: Darrou was drafted by Richmond in last year's rookie draft and is yet to debut. He is a big bodied defender with good foot skills and is a ferocious tackler. I don't think Darrou will get games in 2013, so I wouldn't pick him in your fantasy sides and he won't have much value in the XV competitions.

#22 Sam Lonergan

Age: 25
Height/Weight: 182cm/81kg
Position: Midfielder
2012 SC ave: 72.3
2012 DT ave: 65.4
2013 SC Price: xxxx
2013 DT Price: xxxx
KCN says: Taken with pick 50 in the 2005 National Draft for Essendon, Lonergan’s tenacious, no-frills approach in the midfield trenches holds particular appeal for Richmond coach Damien Hardwick. His 2012 season was inconsistant, playing 14 games with varying fantasy success peaking in round 6 against the Lions with a Supercoach score of 142 and a DT score of 129. Hes is also infamous for breaking the shoulder blade of Andrew Carrazzo subsequently sending many fantasy teams into disarray. The backlash from supporters was harsh, and he was even sent death threats in the mail which must have dented his confidence to some degree. His role as a tagger at the Bombers rarely put him into fantasy calculations and his fantasy scoring plateaued early in his career in just his second season where his DT average was in the low 60's and his Supercoach in the early 70's and late 60's. His selection on the rookie list gives the impression that Hardwick may use him as backup should Jackson or another tagger fall to injury and with his experience will relish another opportunity at AFL level. Scoring wise if he manages to get a game I would expect his scores to be hovering around the high 50's in DT and High 60's for Supercoach. Lonergan would be handy midfield depth at best, in the XV competitions.

#13 Ricky Petterd

Age: 24
Height/Weight: 185cm/85kg
Position: Forward
2012 SC ave: 48.2
2012 DT ave: 47.2
2013 SC Price: $239,00
2013 DT Price: $243,400
Toga says: Picked up in the 2012 Rookie draft with Pick #7 for the Tigers, I expect Petterd to be a valuable addition to the Richmond line up. Should be underpriced next season given he only played 4 games in 2012, and, providing he is upgraded from the rookie list at the start of the season, he could be a great smokie for your team in 2013, as he has averaged up to 79DT and 83 SC ppg in recent years. Given the Tigers small forward depth at present I am not sure how many games we should expect him to play in 2013, however he is one to watch over pre season.

#50 Giedon Simon

Age: 18
Height/Weight: 172cm/71kg
Position: Forward
2013 SC Price: xxxx
2013 DT Price: xxxx
JROO8 says: Simon was signed as an international rookie by Richmond, coming from Papua New Guinea. Simon is a forward who is pretty quick and is a tackling machine. I wouldn't expect to see Simon in 2013 as he still needs lots of development, so I wouldn't pick him in your fantasy side and doesn't hold much value in the XV competition.

#37 Orren Stephenson

Age: 30
Height/Weight: 200cm/104kg
Position: Ruck
2012 SC ave: 59.8
2012 DT ave: 53.7
2013 SC Price: xxxx
2013 DT Price: xxxx
KCN says: Taken with pick 78 in the 2011 National Draft by his former club Geelong, being the oldest first time draftee in history. He was than delisted by Geelong and Richmond threw the experience ruckmen and lifeline in the 2013 rookie draft, using pick 36. Stephenson is an experienced ruckman coming up in the ranks originally from Redan in the Ballarat Football League and then to the North Ballarat Roosters. He came into the 2012 season looking like a readymade ruckman in a team which desperately needed one, he finally got his chance to play AFL in the first round against Fremantle, however his form was not up to scratch and he found himself in and out of the side and only played the 8 games in 2012. With the acclaim that he sustained after being drafted by the cats his fantasy price was at a bargain basement level and was a very popular pick in very many teams. The 1-3 ruck strategy was made viable due to the potential scoring and job security that he offered along with Jonathon Giles, Jarrad Reddan and others. However due to his lack of stability in selection he left many coaches disappointed with his season, although for myself he did the job accordingly. His fantasy average was hovering in the 50’s in both DT an SC , in his better games he would score in the 70’s but they were few and far between with many choosing Reddan over him when a premium was injured. For the coming season his first challenge will be to get onto the senior list at Richmond, which if not done before the season could take a while injury permitting. If he does manage to get onto the senior list he will have to compete with Maric, Derickx and other rookies whom may step up. I believe that at some point he will manage to get a game or two, however I fail to see him scoring well. Also in the XV he would be a poor choice due to two factors, one being his age the other being his job security.
