Currently have a French bloke up forward, regen named Chris Gomis, has scored 41 goals and has 11 assists in 26 games after 64 and 25 in 35 last season :D flowering legend! Overall statline: 74 games, 116 goals, 37 assists, 8 yellow cards.

Try having 30,000. :P

Promoted out of Skrill North with Guiseley in my first season. Basically on the back of John Macken and Ally Shankland.
Mid-table in the Skrill Premier during the second season but I've got some great players in loans that just came in and I think we might push for a playoff spot.

I play err, FM 2013 handheld. :P

Due to me being really good at this (last manager mode I won 17 league titles and like 40 Cups in the 30 seasons), I set myself a challenge to buy no one at all. Currently managing a Portsmouth side in Skrill Premier (Third team in 4 seasons), got the perfect formation and tactics set out, just need a good attack.

In my first season I conceded only 39 goals (the least in the league) but only scored 29 (the least in the league). Finished 20th of 24, only survived because of goal difference. :D I have 17 0-0 draws throughout the season, and made Rd 3 of the FA Cup where Everton were too strong (By 1 goal). This season I made it to Christmas 5-10-9 and in 17th, and am yet to concede more than 2 goals in a single match. Conceded 20 goals (the least), scored 17 (the 2nd least), so am quite happy. Unfortunately got knocked out of the Cup in the 1st round but am into the 2nd round of the FA Trophy. :)

It's going to be a long 30 seasons, if I can just make it to the Premier League I'll back myself. :)

Deep runs in cups is what makes it. How long do you spend on the game? Training is a huge part+scouting. I'd def scout for young talents and sign them on pre contracts if that counts as not buying.

So just investing heaps in to the youth academies and scouting then to bring in young players?

For some reason my squad is not becoming familiar with the new formation?

Training on tactics only at high intensity for last three weeks, all match training on tactics too.

Played 7 friendlies so far.

Any ideas guys.

Did I just get Badgered?

Haha 4-1-2-1-2 with Liverpool.

                Suarez, Sturridge.
                    Coutinho.
               Henderson, Gerrard.
                      Leiva.
      Cissokho, Agger, Sakho, Johnson.
                    Mignolet.

Unfortunately the handheld version is a little rundown and easier to manage than the full PC version, so that's probably why I make it sound so easy.

If the board let me upgrade the training facilities I would. Scouting I'm not doing as it's whoever is in my club + whoever I can get from my reserve side, which don't go down as transfers should I offer them a contract. I considered about whether to allow free transfers but deciding against that too.

narrow formations are really hard to get right in FM.

I'd def read into football tactics  specifically Tactical Theorems. huge help for me helping to understand tactics. It also shows how much of a real life sim FM really is.

So I added in another tactic and all of a sudden the players started become familiar with the original one, probably just a glitch or something. :P

Also my formation is legit 4-3-2-1 with wing backs, 1 DLP, 2 wingers, 1 IF, 1 AP and 1 Poacher

sounds like it should never work but it works so well. Its really important to get a really good CM who can attack and defend though. And having the 2 wingers at ML and MR means that they will also help defend

I had to pick up a Karl Pilkington, young CB.

My formation is 4-2-3-1. Two Wing backs, two limited defenders, the CDMs are Deep Lying and Ball Winning. Attacking three are Winger, CM, Winger (Defensive through the centre of the pitch), and the Striker is a Poacher. Seems to be working well enough, my CM has high stamina so can play out 90 minutes easily. :) Wing Backs struggle sometimes.
