Miami Gators 15.9.99 lost to San Francisco Grizzlies 18.10.118
(Real: 1483 vs 1767)

How good is Tom Green? And how bad is Callum Brown? And how good is revenge game Tom Powell? Scope of improvement is clearly there for both teams, but can they actualise it in 2024?

Best
Miami: Powell, Clark, Flanders
San Francisco: Green, Stewart, O'Brien, King, Wardlaw

Anaheim Mighty Ducks 15.13.103 lost to Chicago Sharks 19.8.122
(Real: 1546 vs 1830)

Chicago solidify themselves as a premiership contender with another strong score, even with CC Hogan (sorry for the trigger words Koop) not kicking the expected 8+ against the Eagles - they look and score strongly on every line. Anaheim were lead superbly by Merrett and Sheezel, as in 2023, and Weightman, as in never, but also as in 2023 the rest of the team ranged from mostly bad to worse - obviously unlucky to have Cunningham KOed on 0, while Witts was missing and most of their talented youngsters had down games. Upside is there (pandering to kb there).

Best
Anaheim: Weightman, Merrett, Sheezel, Rioli
Chicago: Briggs, Heeney, Sicily, Brayshaw, Andrews, Liberatore, Idun, Farrell

Colorado Avalanche 18.11.119 defeated Boston Celtics 16.11.107
(Real: 1786 vs 1609)

Boston are decimated by injuries and picked up two early in this game (Docherty and May, while Wood was the same for Colorado), but were no match for the might for VC Luke Jackson against North - helped out by Setters and Darcy Cameron. Colorado could be right in the thick of things if Newcombe turns his poor start around, while Boston just need to get fit bodies in - I hear Macrae did well enough to probably get a recall.

Best
Colorado: Jackson, Setterfield, Cameron, Xerri
Boston: McKay, Crouch, Laird, Owens

Las Vegas Sinners 20.8.128 defeated Carolina Panthers 19.11.125
(Real: 1921 vs 1876)

Wow! The Grand Final rematch lived right up to expectations, with the result remaining the same. Vegas had four of the top five scoring players of the round, with the highest of those being a CC - it should be lowkey disappointing that they "only" managed 1921, as they had a few passengers. Impressive score, but can they replicate it without the outlier 145+ scores? Carolina were much more even around the ground, lead as usual by stars of the competition like Bont, Gawn, and Willem Drew.

Best
Las Vegas: Butters, Papley, Gulden, Petracca, English, Fisher
Carolina: Drew, Bontempelli, Ryan, Wanganeen-Milera, Gawn, Treloar

New Brooklyn Hawks 18.12.120 defeated Memphis Dragons 15.15.105
(Real: 1804 vs 1572)

NBH were crippled by Daicos playing only the 50th best game of his career (per Cal Twomey), but were class in the other XVII positions to more than account for Memphis, who could not replicate the Round One success of Fyfe, Dangerfield, and Rowbottom.

Best
Brooklyn: Gresham, Steele, Duggan, Lyons, Acres, Pendlebury
Memphis: Taylor, Warner, Lipinski

Ottawa Otters 17.12.114 lost to Quito Quetzals 18.10.118
(Real: 1705 vs 1764)

Time to kick Lynch and Sidebottom to the retirement home/curb, as they lost this game. Quito did have 4 x 30s of their own, but Serong more than made up for them - and McGovern, Yeo and Whitfield brought the ship home very strong to secure the win.

Best
Ottawa: Baker, Miller, Davies-Uniacke, Neal-Bullen, Marshall, Taranto
Quito: McGovern, Serong, Whitfield, Miers, Yeo, Houston, Hewett, Dunkley
