Title: WXV: Berlin Brewers
Post by: Purple 77 on November 14, 2011, 12:15:55 PM
After long discussions with c4v3m4n and hawk_88, who both presented strong cases by submitting their own logos respectively, the Berlin Brewers are proud to present their new logo created by hawk_88 as shown below:

Star recruit Lance Franklin had this to say about the new logo, "I for one am stoked with our new logo. The team is coming together very nicely!"

"A Storm is Brewing"

The Berlin Brewers are happy to announce that they have signed a 5 year deal with the Olympic stadium, which is situated in the heart of Berlin, to play 8 games a year in the much hyped up game of the World 15's.

In a statement made by President Christian Wulff and star recruit Lance Franklin, they, and the German people, are delighted to have this game hosted in their capital of Germany and would make sure they fill up every seat of the 74,500 seat stadium.

He went on to say that their were many adjustments needed to be done to the stadium for it is not up to the requirements of the game, but assured the German people that it would be ready, round 1 against the reindeers.

"We have a big pre-season ahead of us and it is really good that we have a stadium to train in," Lance Franklin said.

At long last, the Berlin Brewers have signed a contract that will see their reserves team under new management and under a new name; The Rhineland Rum-Runners! This move by the Brewers is an attempt to increase the amount of time and development put into its players that are currently not in the senior side; whether it be because of injury or poor form. Berlin also sees this as boosting the profile of fellow German state Rhineland and hence Germany.

A logo has already been produced by the designer of our Guernsey and whom also presented a possible logo for the Brewers, c4v3m4n as shown below:

Our Sponsors
The Berlin Brewers are proud to present their first official club sponsor - Volkswagen. Volkswagen have signed a three year deal with the Brewers allowing the club to make advancements both on and off the field. Their company logo will appear on the front of the Brewer Guernsey along with the yet to be released World 15s logo.

Along with the signing of Volkswagen, the Brewers also managed to get Adidas to sponsor the club for the next 4 years. This is another major signing for they are a well-known and highly profitable company. The Adidas logo will appear on all advertisements made by the Brewers.

The Berlin Brewers made sure that both of their major sponsors are local Germany companies to provide long lasting partnerships and to promote the team in the new World 15s competition that is due to start in 2012.

The Brewers have now struck a deal with a third sponsor, and our first gold sponsor. The Berlin Brewers are proud to announce Oettinger as our first Gold Sponsor. For those of you who don't know, Oettinger is Germany's best selling beer brand and we thought it appropriate to get them on board with the Berlin Brewers. The decision to make Oettinger our gold Sponsor was not totally based on the fact that they were beer brewers, it was a strategic move that will give our Football Club more funding and awareness around the World, with Oettinger agreeing to have our logo endorsed on their produce. The Brewers, along with Germany and the World have growing excitement as the weekend of the inaugural first round of the World 15s approaches, which we believe will hit the world like nothing before has.

Pick 66 - William Hams
Pick 71 - Wylie Buzza
Pick 78 - Brodie Murdoch
Pick 87 - Joel Patfull

With this haul of mid to late draft picks, the Brewers were pleased to get promising first year players Mason Redman, Corey Wagner and Wylie Buzza to go with Mitch King; thereby completing the entire Melbourne ruck set. We have also managed an absolute steal from the PNL Reindeers whom really let one go in William Hams; with the suspended Bombers, expect Hams to take a step up this year. We also managed to pick up ex-Christchurch experienced defender Joel Patfull - for insurance - and ex-New Yorker Brodie Murdoch to reunite him with his brother in an attempt to bring out the best of them both. Finally, we feel that ex-Cobra Jaden McGrath will surprise 2016 and look forward to an exciting career at the Brewers.

Recruits from the 2015 Pre-Season & Rookie Draft

PSD Pick 12 - Josh Smith
Rookie Pick 14 - Corey Adamson
Rookie Pick 30 - Daniel Talia
Rookie Pick 60 - Malcolm Karpany

The Brewers were stoked to grab Josh Smith with Pick 12 in the Pre-Season draft; we reckon he will get games this year for Rhineland at least, and we think he can develop into something quite handy down the line. We also nabbed 3 recycled players with our 3 rookie picks; Corey Adamson (Toronto), Daniel Talia (New Delhi) and Malcolm Karpany (Beijing) - all of which have something to hopefully offer the Brewers.

In previous years, we have seen the Coaches Award won by mature aged players experienced an unconventional and unexpected standout season. This years recipient is in fact just starting his career, acquired in trade we he came along with Xavier Ellis in exchange for ex-Brewer Mitch Clark. At the time, he was just seen as a sweetener to the deal, but ended up being the most valuable part of the deal. Congratulations to Marco Paparone for winning the "Your Shout" Medal (Coaches Award) for 2015! Paparone displayed outstanding consistency within the 70-100 range, with only 4 scores below 70 and two centuries outside that range. Marco also finished 3rd in the "Designated Driver" Medal (for consistency), and was one of 5 Brewers to play all 19 senior games in 2015. Coach Purple 77 just marveled at Paparone the longer the year went on; proving to be a vital cog in the forward line. Paparone has a long and successful career ahead of him, that is for sure.

Congratulations to veteran ruckman Mark Jamar for winning the "Designated Driver Medal" for the most consistent/reliable player in 2015! The winner of the award would register the lowest Standard Deviation throughout the year, taking into account both their senior and reserve games. To be eligible for the award, a player must have played at least 5 games at senior level. Jamar has also retired from the WXV club that picked him second after Lance Franklin and that he played for in his entire career. Although Jamar played just the 5 games (the first 5) this year at an average of 74.2, his guidance of Max Gawn and Jake Spencer has ensured a powerful ruck combination for many years to come. Mark;s contribution to the Berlin Brewers WXV Football Club cannot not be underestimated, with a legacy worthy of his round 2 selection in 2011.

Congratulations to the patient; persistent Rory Atkins for winning the The "DUI" Medal for Berlin under the WXV Rising Star qualifications for the 2015 season! Although his achievements have been less of that than the previous recipients of the award, Rory's story has been one largely of patience; having been on Berlin's list for all 3 years of his career before making his debut in his one and only game in the Elimination Final win against New York. It was a baptism of fire for the young Atkins; and one he responded well to with a solid 50. Had he had played in the last H&A game of the season, he would have won a WXV Rising star nomination as well. Although he has had to work harder and for longer than others to get a game, Atkins carries the attributes to make it in WXVs going forward.

Wondering if the Berlin Brewers have any comment over star Buddy Franklin tearing his hamstring and missing the next three weeks.

Do the Brewers regret playing him against the Wolves?

Will Daniel Wells take over as captain?

Any talk of tanking amongst the players?

WXV LATEST

COACH DENIES TALKS OF TANKING
Berlin coach Purple 77 has denied talks of tanking within the playing group and staff labeling such rumours has "Rubbish" and "Unthinkable."
"You can't ask players to throw 50% of themselves onto a footy, you just can't. And even in the old days of the AFL you couldn't, that's why when they tanked they put players into different positions that would hinder their performance. Well you can't exactly do that in the Worlds now can you? People would see the unnecessary players in the wrong positions and I would get sacked.'
"I would never think of doing it anyway."

Meanwhile, Purple 77 was asked whether he regretted playing Lance Franklin last week, who worsened a hamstring injury on the weekend, amidst injury concerns the week before.
"Look, this is a terrible situation for Lance and the club, put any World 15 coach would have played him last week. He ticked every box that needed to be ticked to play so there was definitely cause for concern,'
'But now our regular captain is out for basically the rest of our season, since finals are now impossible. But we may be able to play him in the last week where we expect a big performance to show our fans whats coming next year. In fact, the performances start now."

Coach Purple 77 was also criticised on the weekend for his aggressive public outburst on to out-of-form duo Brent Moloney and James Magner.
"Look, you are always that little bit more emotional after the fresh moments of a loss, and maybe I was a bit harsh. But if replacements permit, those two boys will not play this weekend against the Cobras.'
"We just can't look the other way week after week when those boys put in 40s and 50s every week, so the challenge for them now is to find form before our year is out."

Daniel Wells is expected to take over the captaincy for the Brewers, where he described it would be "an honour."
"If I'm honest, I never thought I could be captain of a Worlds team when I was young. I mean, last year I was at a promising club at North Melbourne where I slowly but surely developed, only to then have the AFL expand into the World and teams rip apart into new ones.'
"But to be a captain of Worlds team would be something I wouldn't take to lightly, it would be an honour. I can guarantee to "Purps" that I will deliver if I was captain."

Berlin Brewers vs Pacific Islanders Exhibition Match
The Berlin Brewers and Pacific Islanders officials have organised an exhibiton match, because the respected coaches Purple 77 and c4v3m4n both agree their season was too short and that they can get more out of their players.

The Brewers and Islanders have organised this match in a friendly manner, and to give the fans one more match before the new season. But with a rivalry rapidly growing between these two clubs, the coaches and players will not take this game light-hearted.

"We have beaten the Islanders in our only two encounters, so although I respect c4v3m4n and the Islanders, we don't see them as a real threat at all.

"We are intent on making it a third time."

With regular captain Lance Franklin set to come back this week, the Brewers have also been boosted by the returns of Jack Watts, Trent West, Chris Knights and Michael Hibberd. But unfortunately stand-in captain Daniel Wells has been withdrawn from the game due to a calf injury.

The Brewers' Matthew Stokes (93) and Trent West (92) have served Germany proud! Leading the Brewers charge giving a 110 point lead after 2 players played from both teams.

With the Islanders' Simpkins' failing to perform (Tom - 47, Jonathan - 28), questions are asked if the sub rule will be used on Jonathan Simpkin?

The Brewers' Matthew Stokes (93) and Trent West (92) have served Germany proud! Leading the Brewers charge giving a 110 point lead after 2 players played from both teams.

With the Islanders' Simpkins' failing to perform (Tom - 47, Jonathan - 28), questions are asked if the sub rule will be used on Jonathan Simpkin?

Time will tell. :P

I reckon I'll have another two players named as sub by the end of the weekend.

Matt Campbell will be named sub as he has for many weeks against Collingwood.

And well my first emergency, Luke Brown will also get the sub vest against Brisbane cause I highly doubt they'll give it to any one else.

After Freo/Tigers game

Berlin: 1192/15 including VC

Pacific Islands: 548/9 including Captain

The islanders were let  down by Subans' 18, and Lee Spurr certainly didn't help with his 50

While for the Brewers, defense leader Paul Duffield led the way with 139, but was not helped with Edwards (43), Jackson (54) and Walters (50) falling behind

The Islanders are yet to have a century, with Captain Judd and Forward Andrew Walker leading the way with 95 and 82 respectively.

The match-up now:

Berlin:
644
Will Schofield
Alipate Carlile
Chris Knights
Joshua Green
Nathan Brown
Maverick Weller (SUB)
Lance Franklin (C)

Pacific:
Nick Smith
Luke Delaney
Nathan Blee
Darren Jolly
Simon Black
Sam Gibson
Daniel Kerr (VC)
Sam Reid (Sydney)
Jamie Elliot
Drew Petrie
Quinten Lynch
Matt Campbell
Lewis Roberts-Thomson (SUB)

The Islanders have the quality, but do they have enough to overcome this lead and a potential rampaging buddy franklin against a Gold Coast outfit?????

Time will tell

After Adel/Bris and Coll/Nm game

Berlin: 1334 (VC included) from 18

Pacific Islands: 977 (Captain Included) from 16

The Islanders couldn't even buy luck, as Campbell (9), Elliot (28) and Delaney (43) failed to perform, even with the leadership shown by Simon Black (98), Sam Gibson (97) and Drew Petrie (96). Still no centuries.

The Brewers last night had Nathan Brown (55), Chris Knights (34) and Joshua Green (53) also underperforming, and there are questions if this game is really taken seriously by the players on both sides.

HENCE

The Brewers have activated their sub, Maverick Weller replaces Sam Darley (29) on the interchange. Although Tom Couch (27) was the only one to score lower than Darley, Darley was chosen to get 100% of Wellers' score.

The scores now:

Berlin: 1305 (VC included) from 17

Pacific Islands: 977 (Captain Included) from 16

After the Port v WCE game...

Berlin Brewers 1443 with just Maverick Weller to play.

Jack Watts has been handed the captaincy after Franklin's late withdrawal.

Pacific Islanders 1192 with Nick Smith, Sam Reid and LRT underway at the moment.

Incredibly tough ask...

WXV LATEST - 09/09/12
Uncertainty ravages players as Brewers clean house

It is almost one week into the post-season 2012 trade period, and the nerves amongst the playing group are at an all time high. The Brewers can reveal that as many as 17 players have been inquired about by rival clubs, showing a clear indication of the quality of youth in the current list. It has been already made public that the Brewers plan to ship out experienced duo Paul Duffield and Brent Moloney to insure the future competitiveness of the club. Midfielder Jack Trengove said that this activity from the club just goes to show no one is safe at this club, and that the players are already regretting their performances this year.
"Obviously, if you had a great year on-field, you wouldn't have too much to worry about come-trade period. But as many of you know that perhaps with the exception of Buddy (Lance Franklin) and Wellsy (Daniel Wells), no one had a good year this year and now a few of the players have payed the price,"
The Brewers have been rumoured to be on the verge of signing another young star midfielder to go along with the currently unconfirmed Jack Steven, and have been in talks with almost every club to sign another young star of an unknown position. Among current Berlin players, it has been noticed that Trent West and Jeremy Howe have been hidden from sight, opening up questions as to whether they will continue their careers at the Brewers.

New York not too much of a surprise to me given their trading, not saying that London and Berlin didn't trade well, I believe they did and as Purps said his team's looking considerably stronger than this time last year. It's just looking at New York's team listed for Rd1 I sensed they'd be right up there this year. Thank god Ryder will be back for my clash with Alex haha

The media went to enter the Berlin Brewers HQ for the weekly interview, only to find that the gates have been padlocked shut. A security guard came out and said

"This is the last place you, or anyone else would wanna be right now guys, no conferences today."

One begins to think from this reaction, that there is up to fifteen players being yelled at, told home truths, hurting... and sweating.

Berlin show worst, average and excellent form

Round 9, Round 10 and Round 11 Reviews (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,44831.msg732297.html#msg732297)

Major Points to take out of 3 the week period

Berlin go 2-1, with a easy win over Wellington, a respectable loss against the dominant Armadillos and a thrilling one point win over New York.

Rhineland go undefeated, having a firm grasp in the top four.

No debutants, as Berlin go to form their core XV, however with Reece Conca making a much welcome return and Jack Grimes still out injured

Lance Franklin stripped of captaincy as he gets given time to find form without leadership pressures

Michael Hibberd and Matthew Stokes represent Berlin in the EurAsia team facing the AAP Alliance, with Lance Franklin an emergency

Round 12, Round 13 and Round 14 Reviews (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,44831.msg732297.html#msg732297)

Major Points to take out of 3 the week period

Berlin go 1-2, an expected result heading into the period, but the game lost against Mexico was "an opportunity gone begging" - coach Purple 77

Rhineland go undefeated once again, stuck on 2nd position with Alexandria whom have a superior percentage.

Jack Grimes makes a more than welcome return to the Seniors! But Hibberd has taken his D1 spot while he was out, will he regain it?

Berlin at the fringe of the top 8, probably having to win against all three of Toronto, Seoul and Beijing to have a serious shot at the finals

Daniel Jackson and Lachie Henderson feature in Team of the Week

Round 15, Round 16 and Round 17 Reviews (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,44831.msg593652.html#msg593652)

Major Points to take out of 3 the week period

Berlin go 3-0, with an amazing and crucial win against the Toronto Wolves led by an mammoth Captain score by Jack Steven (161)

Subsequently, Jack Steven was awarded the Vice-Captaincy in TOTW

The following wins against Seoul and Beijing qualified the Brewers for the finals, finishing 7th!

Berlin go from 5-12 at 16th last year to 10-7 at 7th in 2013

Brad Crouch excites supporters with 3 straight centuries (100, 101 and 104)!

Berlin end the Home and Away season with the title of most defensive team of the year, with the least points scored against them than any other team

Please tell me I'm not the only one that sees it.

A few days late, but this is a glimpse of the new 2014 style for Berlin:

Round 1 just snuck up on me in the end, and it being split over 2 rounds, the team changed a bit so I didn't want to do too many of these. The challenge is to keep changing/improving the style each year  :P

Each week, the two opposing player photos will be the ones that first pop in my head lol

It's extremely sad and disappointing for Mitch, the Brewers and the Dees. This is actually the first I'm hearing about it.

Alexis Georgiou will be taking his place, will confirm in the appropriate thread.

When I heard about it, knew it was about his injuries, but the distress it has caused him to lead him into depression, wish that on nobody :(. Lets hope he can get himself right, as that's what's important.

On the plus side for the Brewers, at least get Georgiou promoted who's playing!

Very late I know, but I didn't think I'd do them this year. But, a spur of passion and avoidance of doing any real work has made me commit to doing it again in 2014.

Match reviews of course, and they can all be found on the front page. But will be posted on new posts this year as well. Like I'm trying to do each year, I am sporting a new look and/or trying something new.

Round 1 - Different Year, Different Brewers, Same Result  - 23/03/2014
The Berlin Brewers have started the year in fine style, capping Round 1 in a hard-fought win against the London Royals 19.16.130 to 17.15.117. The Brewers unveiled an incredible 7 new players to their round 1 side; Nat Fyfe (Dublin), Josh J Kennedy (Seoul), Dayne Zorko (Toronto), Jeff Garlett (Cape Town), Lewis Jetta (Cape Town), Jarryn Geary (Seoul) and Lachie Hunter (Dublin) all making their debut with Berlin. Berlin also welcomed back 2012 defender, whom came 3rd in that year's best and fairest, Paul Duffield (Seoul).

The game was full of performers and passengers for both sides, as only 9 players in the game scored more than 90, but it was the Brewers new captain Nat Fyfe (122), whom is standing in for last years Best and Fairest winner Jack Steven (foot), that proved the difference in the end. Others to stand up for the Brewers where club debutant Dayne Zorko (121), hard-nut ruckman Jake Spencer (104), defence leader Jack Grimes (100) and exciting midfield prospect Reece Conca (99). For the Royals, Danyle Pearce (122) and Heritier Lumumba (92) started the match in fine style, but only found support near the end with Andrew Mackie (109) standing tall in defence.

This is the 3rd straight year the Brewers have won in Round 1, with its famous defence taking out the match in the end and is clearly rubbing off on the new players.

Coach Purple 77 was pleased to get the win.

"A win is a win, so you can't be too upset. But at one stage the game was there for the taking and it really could have gone either way. London will go home regretting a missed opportunity, one that in the end we thankfully grabbed onto.

"It was fantastic to see the new guys in Fyfe and Zorko leading our team, as I'm sure our fans will be looking forward to seeing Jack (Steven) pairing up with Fyfe.

"Lachie Hunter is another I should mention, who shone with little experience in the forward line this week."

Meanwhile in reserves, second year player Josh Saunders (112) led Rhineland to victory in a purely dominant display, showing that he is well worth more than the mere Pick 78 he was drafted with. The Rum-Runners won the match 12.11.83 to 7.6.48 against the Imperial Princes, with new recruits Ricky Petterd (77) and Alexis Georgiou (64) showing their potential.

Round 2 - Wolf Leader without a pack in Brewer Victory  - 30/03/2014
The Berlin Brewers have won back-to-back matches defeating the Toronto Wolves 21.15.141 to 19.12.126. In a much better outing for the Brewers, the famous defence struck again, curtailing 6 Wolves to scores less than 50. However, the match threatened to go Toronto's way with a mammoth effort from Toronto captain Scott Pendlebury (182) kicking the match back into life. But it was ex-Wolf Dayne Zorko (161) that countered Pendlebury's effort which took the Brewers home with the win. Captain Nat Fyfe (118) continued to justify his trade worth, while key forward Josh J Kennedy (118), returning Brewer Paul Duffield (117) and defence general Michael Hibberd (96) ensured the win.

For the Wolves, exciting tall prospect Tom Hickey (127), Clinton Jones (98) and Michael Johnson (92) could hold their heads high, as the Wolves would be disappointed with their performance. Ex-Brewer Lachie Henderson (81) also proved serviceable for the Wolves.

Coach Purple 77 was proud of his charges post-match.

"The game looked like it might have gone Toronto's way, with Tom Hickey, Clinton Jones and that apparent human they call Scott Pendlebury all fired, but credit to the boys and especially Dayne Zorko, for standing up against his old club.

"It was a good win. A standard I look for every week."

In grim news for the Brewers, rising star Brad Crouch has unfortunately broken his leg, ruling him out for the next 4-6 weeks. Nat Fyfe has also been suspended for the next two weeks, against crucial games with the Sao Paulo Pumas and Cape Town Cobras. However, Daniel Jackson will be making his return after a lay-off with injury, as he will try to fill the scoring void Fyfe and Crouch have left.

Meanwhile in reserves, Rhineland have suffered their first loss of the season, going down against the impressive Toronto Wolves 20.17.135 to 7.3.45. Jeff Garlett (68) and Alexis Georgiou (64) tried for the Rum-Runners, but unfortunately the Wolves proved too much.

I'd have him above Viney, for now. It looked like Crouch was going to have an 80 averaging season, so he was just above him.

I'm more disappointed about how his "breakout year" (which I still think he will have) is delayed by another year. Development stunted for another year if you will.

Still, guess the player could have been worse Brewer wise.

Viney will be named in the XV in protest (if I have the flexibility), and will be up to the game officials to take him off the ground...

Berlin confident, if they make the finals (still a slim chance), that reigning B&F winner Jack Steven can have a part in it

I have so many key outs... I wouldn't make any impact on finals this year.

If I could get back Wells, Hibberd and Jackson for the first week of the finals, I would be optimistic. But none of them will be available. So, with Fyfe evening out the contest last night, lets  just see if I can make it.
Title: Re: WXV: The Berlin Brewers
Post by: ossie85 on August 05, 2014, 06:52:47 AM

To justify Purple's whinging about his season of injuries this year:

At the start of the year, you'd have expected Purple's best XV to bve:

D: M Hibberd, J Grimes, C Garland, P Duffield
M: J Steven, N Fyfe, D Wells, D Jackson
R: M Jamar
F: JJ Kennedy, D Zorko, J Garlett, M Clark
I: B Crouch, R Conca
E: J Geary, Jack Trengove, L Jetta

These are how many AFL games they have missed this year

D: M Hibberd (3), J Grimes (1), C Garland (7), P Duffield (0)
M: J Steven (5), N Fyfe (1), D Wells (13), D Jackson (8)
R: M Jamar (5)
F: JJ Kennedy (2), D Zorko (0), J Garlett (9), M Clark (18)
I: B Crouch (11), R Conca (2)
E: J Geary (11), Jack Trengove (16), L Jetta (0)

So his 18 players have missed an average of 6.2 games this year...

Are you rightly flowering kidding me? I mean really? REALLY?!!!!!'

flower me! flower! First Clark then this!

I took him in the 20th round in the original draft, where off the back of yet another underwhelming fantasy year (he never really had one in his career at this point), where he averaged a somewhat handy 78.1.

I remember it well. At the time, I was umming and arring over whether to pick the scientist of Stargate Command I acknowledge today, or Farren Ray. The aim was to get some depth in my pretty shocking midfield. I did finish 16th after all.

Jackson only averaged 71 that year, but it was his second half of the year where he performed well for me, and I thought I might keep him around for another year.

Then 2013 happened.

Playing every game bar AFL Round 11, Jackson, after scoring 2 sub-50 scores in the first 4 rounds, went on to smack century after vital century to finish the year averaging 92.5. Not great yes, but he really did decide some games for me as I made my mad  and lucky run to the prelims. His improvement was so unexpected, so vital and such a welcome surprise that he earned my Coaches Award for that year.

Then, into 2014, he averaged comfortably over 100 in his first 6 matches, filling the void at various times left by the absent Fyfe, Steven, Crouch and Wells.

Then, injury cruelled his year and final average, to an undeserved 88.9 where he unexpectedly pulled the pin on his career.

Jackson is the first Brewer to be originally drafted and retire at the club, defining what it is to be a true club man.

In his 3 year career at the Brewers, he played 37 senior games and 6 reserve games, at an overall average of 85.63. From the 37 senior matches he polled 48 best and fairest votes and from the 6 reserve game he polled 17 votes. He made the Team of the Week twice; once in the Home and Away Season of 2013, and in the 2013 elimination final against Cape Town. He also captained the club once in Round 7 against New York in 2014, and came 5th in the 2013 best and fairest.

So with this, I dub Daniel Jackson the first Life Member of the Berlin WFC, and wish him all the best in his life after Worlds.

Speaks alot when Wells is your #1 scorer after three seasons :P.

Jackson carved out a decent career with you guys, and came in handy after the downer! Happy you guys didn't choose Ray, as love him at PNL :).

Yeah, I don't like it either  :P

With Crouch starting his career and getting Fyfe, Steven and Treloar in the past 2 years, I hope to bump him down in the records :P but he will always be my 2012 B&F  :)

But, looking 'round at other teams.... could be worse

That's gonna sting Purps :-X. Feel for Brad as was looking great.

At least Fyfe is still ready to play, as a one man midfield :-\

Harsh on Steven and Treloar, but seeing as I rely on Fyfe to get me 250 points a week, I see your point  :P

Is a loss  :( but I've got plenty of options to cover him.

Don't... EVER scare me like that again oz! You know fully well you still have the reputation of breaking bad injury news in people's team threads, so naturally when I see a link about crouch, from you, I shower my pants.  :P

But that is a huge relief! He is vital for me come finals.

First look at what my 2016 team looks like:

*using 2015 averages, and 2014 averages for Libba & Crouch*

D: Michael Hibberd (82), Jamie MacMillan (89), Shaun Burgoyne (85), Michael Johnson (81)
M: Nat Fyfe (C) (124 * 2 = 248), Jack Steven (VC) (104), Tom Liberatore (110), Brad Crouch (95)
R: Max Gawn (102)
F: Drew Petrie (86), Michael Walters (81), Mark LeCras (82), Lewis Jetta (83)
U: Jack Viney (92), Chris Masten (89)
E: Sam Fisher (79), Charlie Dixon (70), Jake Spencer (72)

= 1509 on average.

I expect some to rise, some to fall... so will stick with that indicator of estimate.

Not better than Dublin or Mexico City, and IMO on par with a couple others, but I really believe, if you can make the prelims then you're on equal footing with the other 3 teams as anything can happen.
