Week Preview
In our first game, the Avalanche host the Quetzals as both teams look to grab their first victory of 2017. Seeing as Colorado have scored more points so far this season I'll back them to take out both the league and reserves matches.
Las Vegas were mighty impressive last week, but they take on a good Houston side with plenty to play for at 1-1. Houston in a tight one, while the reserves match should be a good one also.
Ottawa sit tied for top spot, with Wisconsin right behind them at 1-1 - despite scoring 37 more points this season. Ottawa's luck will probably run out this week against a premiership threat, but who knows. It's also a top-of-the-table clash in the reserves (again, Montreal probably lucky to be that high), which should be interesting.
Our next match pits unbeaten teams against each other - the table-topping, high-scoring (but inconsistent?) Panthers against the skillful (but not too speedy) Ducks. If Carolina can match their effort from last week they'll get up - but can they? Home ground advantage to the Panthers could be the key here. In the reserves, the Dragons will hope to get a win and climb off the bottom of the ladder, while the Tar Heels look to hang on in the top 8.
The same old story for the Grizzlies - playing well but injuries and bad luck are taking their toll and really pushing their depth .The Hawks have been solid this season and a win would really help their push for finals, but they will be tested against a side 18 months off a premiership, no matter the injuries. The ressies match should be a good one, with the sides averaging 61 and 60.5 points per game this season.
In the final match of the round, two top-six sides clash with the four points very valuable. Boston at home you'd back, but you can't write off this plucky Sharks outfit who are hungry to get back above a .500 record. In the reserves, both teams will want to get their first win of the season.

Can I start naming a second forward line and no midfield? And that's after trading Wingard away.
Obviously, I'm biased, but there's some actual depth in Quito and the side doesn't even look too bad.
Midfield is the lightest line, but with so many young M/Fs who will eventually be M only, it is also very positive.
Plenty to like about lots of these players going forward.
Apparently this baked potato continues to fail to notice the other teams have an extra utility ::) ::)

Colorado Avalanche 16.14.110 defeated Quito Quetzals 16.13.109
(Real: 1645 vs 1644)
Oh boy, the first match of the round is a ripper with the Avalanche stealing the win by a solitary SC point! Murphy did the bulk of the work for the Avalanche, while several players scored well for the Quetzals - except vice-captain Shaun Higgins, who helped cost them the match. Meanwhile, reserves captain Travis Cloke lead expertly as the Tortoise got their first victory.
Best
Colorado: Murphy, Hickey, Scully, Ebert
Quito: Neal-Bullen, Rich, Curnow, Swallow, Cameron, Ross, Suckling
Reserves
Colorado Bootleggers 5.7.37 lost to Galapagos Tortoise 6.7.43
(Real: 369 vs 429)
Las Vegas Sinners 15.15.105 lost to Houston Bombers 20.9.129
(Real: 1570 vs 1937)
Rory Sloane as captain was enough as the Bombers got home comfortably in Las Vegas, condemning the Sinners to another 0-3 start, as impressive as they've been. Surely Houston will be back in the top 6 now? And at least the Sinners got the win in the reserves to stay unbeaten, lead well by captain Billie Stretch and youngster Nic Newman.
Best
Las Vegas: Fyfe, Walker, Rockliff, Mitchell, Plowman, Jones, Petracca, Lloyd
Houston: Sloane, Ziebell, Adams, Rance, Witts, Hill, Beams, Barlow

Nevada Desert Coyotes 9.7.61 defeated Rio Grande Valley Rockets 9.5.59
(Real: 605 vs 589)
Wisconsin Cockerels 15.17.107 defeated Ottawa Otters 15.7.97
(Real: 1608 vs 1458)
Wisconsin were pretty great...if only captain Gawn hadn't gone down injured, they would've had a great score. For a while it was looking like the Otters were going to scrape over the line for the third straight week, but in the end went down by ten points. In the ressies, the Roosters remained unbeaten with a big win over the second-placed Moose - premiership favourites?
Best
Wisconsin: Duncan, Miller, Ablett, Zorko, Shuey, Macrae, Dunstan
Ottawa: Jones, Treloar

Carolina Panthers 20.7.127 defeated Anaheim Mighty Ducks 17.10.112
(Real: 1898 vs 1687)
Carolina were great and deserved to win this eight-point crunch match with the usually high-flying (for a duck, at least) Anaheim, who put up a pretty poor showing, but will be happy with Hannebery's return to form. The usual Dusty and Bont show prevailed for the Panthers, with great service in the ruck by Mumford and Grundy.

Anaheim: Mundy, Dangerfield, Hannebery, Sandilands, Merrett
San Francisco Grizzlies 20.11.131 defeated New Brooklyn Hawks 16.13.109
(Real: 1971 vs 1628)
The Grizzlies finally got back on the winners list after three straight losses with a convincing win over the Hawks - and they will only get better with Coniglio, Pittard, Steven, and Deledio back in the side as a few guys they would replace had awful outings (Young 29, Swallow 52, and Wright 47). Liberatore tackled and handballed his way to a successful captaincy and the Hawks had a few good scores, but simply not enough to get the win in San Fran.
Best
San Francisco: Montagna, Goddard, Martin, Wines, Watts, Hawkins, Williams, Leuenberger, Viney
New Brooklyn: Liberatore, Sidebottom, Acres, Cripps
Boston Terriers 21.12.138 defeated Chicago Sharks 16.13.109
(Real: 2074 vs 1640)
As expected, Boston preserve their unbeaten run with a big win over the Sharks, who were let down massively by two of their starting midfielders combining for 52. It's a good side on paper and they will succeed once they gel - but when will that be?
Best

Quick questions on a couple of things Jukes. Don't understand the rules myself so just curious.
Do Savage & Rich in this situation (seeing as Rich slots into F4 as a Mid and Savage into F3 as a Def) get half points for OOP? I dont think they do currently.
My interpretation of the sub rule was it replaced the lowest scoring player on the respective line. Could be very wrong on that so forgive me if I am.
Whats the EMG rule for Americas SC? Does Varcoe as the FWD EMG come straight on for Elliott, does Savage slot in there as OOP, or does Balic move to the forwards and Savage slots onto the UTL bench?
sub has always gotten full points in any position
