Maca24 resigns as Kuala Lumpur Crocodile's Head Coach
Updated Thurs Feb 21, 2013

Addressing the world press this morning, Maca24 announced he would immediately step aside from his role as head coach of the KL Crocs.

The Club confirmed that Maca24’s decision was his own and he was not forced to leave his position. Identifying personal reasons as the driving force behind his decision to resign, an emotional Maca24 thanked the Club and fans for the support over the years.

A Club spokesperson also confirmed that the vacant position will be filled very quickly with many quality applicants already being approached.

More to come…

Ricochet appointed Coach!
Updated Fri Feb 22, 2013

In front of Players, Club Officials and Fans, the Club announced Ricochet as the new coach of the Kuala Lumpur Crocodiles.

The decision was not easy and took countless hours of assessing all applicants, which included the highly respected coaches Memphistopheles and SydneyRox.

But the Club are very happy with Ricochet and believe he is the right man for the job in rebuilding the KL Crocs into a premiership force.

Ricochet addressed the media this morning.

“I am very honoured to have been given this opportunity by such a great Club.”

“Obviously our list is very young so to our fans, please be patient as we rebuild”

“It will not be easy but the cream always rises to the top and I look forward to the challenge”

I hear people questioning the depth, certainly is scarce for 2013 but the best 15 is dam solid and should all improve.
Bellchambers should have a big year IMO.
You're depth will be some of the best in 2014 and onwards :)

Elephants joins Crocs
Updated Fri Feb 22, 2013

The Kuala Lumpur Crocodiles are proud to announce that coaching legend Elephants will join the Club immediately as Assistant Coach to Ricochet.

“Elephants was head hunted by the Club as soon as we were made aware of his resignation from Laos” Head Coach Ricochet said when addressing the press today.

“We cannot speak highly enough of Elephants and are very excited with what he brings to the club”.

But when pressed about whether Ricochet approached Elephants while he was still tied to Laos and rumours of secret offers, the outspoken coach was unusually quiet.

In other news, the Club has also announced that Maca24 has been convinced to return to the Crocodiles as mentor to Ricochet. It is understood that Maca24 agreed to a very lucrative deal for this position.

Trade Period #1 Review
Updated Mon March 11, 2013

The Kuala Lumpur Crocodiles went into their very first Trade Period with a clear plan that would lead to picking up some of Asia's most talented young players.

Under no illusion of where his current list is at, head coach Ricochet was very pleased with what was achieved in Trade Period 1.

“Obviously we are in a rebuilding stage and a few years off our Premiership window. We went into Trade Period 1 with a very clear goal”.

KL managed to secure young guns Shane Savage, Luke Parker, Luke Dahlhaus, Scott Pendlebury and Jamie Cripps at the expense of Trent Cotchin, Lewis Jetta, Steven May and ageing stars Marc Lecras and Eddie Betts.

"It is very said to see some of our senior players leave but we wish them all the best at their new clubs." Ricochet said

"But with the addition of the best footballer in the competition [Pendlebury] and four young stars, we are very excited for the coming years."

Injuries and Form is Worrying
Updated Mon April 22, 2013

After starting the 2013 season with a bang, the Kuala Lumpur Crocodiles are licking their wounds after a tough month of football.

Round 1 couldn't have gone any sweeter after cruising to a 389 point win over the Tibetan Llamas in Tibet, but form is not something you take for granted. The next three weeks were brutal for the Crocs losing to Bears and Folders at home and the Elephants away.

Injuries are starting to build too with Michael Hurley likely to miss one week with an ankle injury and Harley Bennell withdrawing from the weekend's game with a hamstring complaint. Both add to the growing Injury List (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,72574.msg998668.html#msg998668) with Beams (ACL) recovering from a full reconstruction, Nick Graham (knee) is still 7-8 away and boom draftee Brodie Grundy (back) is still suffering from soreness.

But Head Coach Ricochet is hardly the type of person who blames injuries with many players battling to find form. Daniel Rich has struggled to live up to his preseason form averaging just 76 per round since the start of the season. Dylan Grimes, another with so much potential, is also struggling at just 61 per round and Ahmed Saad has been nowhere to be seen.

"We need players that are willing to play for the jumper and I will not accept anything less" a furious Ricochet stated after the loss to the Elephants.

"Too many are being carried by too few. This will change"

With the selection axe expected to fall, underrated forward Graham Johncock could gain a recall as could experienced ruckman/forward Justin Koschitzke.

REPORT

A very tough week where our depth was severely tested. With four forced changes through injuries we saw the emergence of young star Aaron Black (112) and a solid score from a forgotten senior player in Justin Koschitzke (75). Josh Caddy and Shane Savage failed to make an impact after both being sub affected. As per usual Scott Pendlebury (292) lead by example along side KL's favourite defender in Harry Taylor (163) but others failed to deliver.

Young Star Falls
Updated Thurs May 02, 2013

Young Kuala Lumpur defender Jackson Trengove has been placed on the club's long-term injury list this afternoon.

Trengove had surgery on his foot on Monday and is expected to be sidelined for 10 weeks. His surgery involved inserting a screw into his fractured foot and it is likely the young star will not be able to run for up to a month.

"It is very disppointing" Head Coach Ricochet at this afternoons press conference,

"But again, it gives another young kid a chance to prove himself on the big stage"

Although taking another hit, KL's Injury List (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,72574.msg998668.html#msg998668) is likely to be shortened this week with the expected returns of Harley Bennell and Michael Hurley. Leaving Gibbs (Hammy), Grundy (Back), Beams (ACL), Rich (Shoulder), Graham (Knee), Davis (Back) and Trengove (Foot)

"It is very frustrating, but what can we do..."

OUT: Phil Davis (Back), Bryce Gibbs (Hamstring), Shane Savage (Omitted), Josh Caddy (Concussion)
IN: James Frawley, Zach Tuohy, Harley Bennell, Koby Stevens

REPORT
Round 6 ended up being a horror weekend for KL. Captain Scott Pendlebury, Luke Parker, Harry Taylor and James Frawley were the only shining lights for the Crocodiles. Young Stars Stephen Coniglio and Aaron Black did show good signs but it wasn't enough to overcome the Lambs monster score of 2173. Justin Koschitzke can accept a two match ban for striking Jamie Elliot after a typical brain fade.

In other news, it is sad to see Jack Frost miss 6 weeks after doing his PCL in the reserves.

REPORT
KL's depth took an even further hit during the week with Koschitzke accepting his suspension and young stars Grimes and Stevens being omitted. This meant the Crocs went into the clash against the Gazelles with no emergencies and Tom Hickey was forced to play his debut game out of his preferred position. But when many expected KL's senior players to carry the burden, it was the youngsters that stepped up. Harley Bennell returned to his best with 149 points while Aaron Black continued with his stellar form posting a 125. Tom Bellchambers (111), Luke Dahlhaus (104) and Ahmed Saad (95) where also solid contributors on the day.

REPORT
As per usual it was KL's captain in Scott Pendlebury (169) that lead the way for the Crocs. Young gun Luke Parker was again inspirational with 154. KL's other young gun stars were also solid with Harley Bennell scoring 97 points, Stephen Coniglio 110 and Aaron Black 102. Black is enjoying a particularly good year with scores of 112, 90, 125 and 102. Elliot Kavanagh came in for his debut game for the Crocs and was forced to play in defence where he fought hard for 50.5 points (101/2). KL's depth was again stretched this weekend but we look forward to the return of some regular senior players over the next few weeks

REPORT
The Crocodiles welcomed back superstar Bryce Gibbs for the clash against the Crabs, but it was another young Croc that stole the show. Koby Stevens had the best game of his short career with an amazing 191 points. He completely dominated the Crabs collecting 31 disposals, 8 marks, 3 tackles and putting through 3 goals. Head Coach Ricochet was also very pleased with Dylan Addison's output after being a late inclusion for injured Josh Caddy who was withdrawn from the team late on Friday afternoon. Addison kicked a lazy 4 goals on his way to 133 points for the day. Harry Taylor continued his fine 2013 form with 145 points but when it came to other contributors it was the bad that heavily outweighed the good. Michael Hurley was subbed out for 26 points with yet another ankle injury and may struggle to be fit for this weekends clash. Dahlhaus (55), Bellchambers (48), Parker (73) and Touhy (56) simply did not perform to the level that Head Coach Ricochet demands. Looking ahead we hope to welcome back Harley Bennell this weekend but the club injury list (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,72574.msg998668.html#msg998668) is still a major concern

REPORT
It was great to see the some of KL's youngsters showing their potential with big scores from Liberatore (147), Coniglio (141) and Black (171). Black has been particularly impressive this year boasting some very decent scores. Scott Pendlebury and Bryce Gibbs were again solid without being spectacular, both notching up 100s. But it was again KL's depth that just weren't up to the challenge. Saad (18), Stevens, (24), Morton (59), Addison (79) and Dahlhaus (77) were simply well below par and will need to improve sharply if the Crocs want to make any inroads this year.

REPORT
Round 11 was always going to be a real challenge for the Crocodiles with many players needing to be rested (byes). Tom Bellchambers, James Frawley, Harry Taylor, Koby Stevens, Dylan Addison, Luke Dahlhaus and Tom Liberatore all missed as Head Coach Ricochet looked to manage his young squad. Michael Hurley was big inclusion along with youngsters Jordan Mudoch, Jamie Cripps, Tom Hickey, Mitch Brown and club debutant Will Hams. Jordan Murdoch put in a big performance to put up a 142 while stars Bryce Gibbs and Scott Pendlebury (150) again performed strongly. Morton (104) bounce back from the week before and Aaron Black (93) was again solid up forward. But overall it was not enough as fringe players failed to perform and KL went down to the Tigers quite convincingly in the end.

REPORT
Round 12 was again all about player management down at the Crocodiles with Head Coach Ricochet electing to rest some sore bodies after a rigorous first half of the season. Key players such as young guns Luke Parker and Aaron Black were given the opportunity to take a break for the weekend. It made for a tough weekend for those that played against the Dolphins who completely outplayed the Crocs for a 351 point win. Captain's Scott Pendlebury and Bryce Gibbs were again solid while young guns Stephen Coniglio (108), Tom Liberatore (116), Koby Stevens (105) and Tayte Pears (123) showed yet again that the future is bright down at Kuala Lumpur. Unlucky star Michael Hurley was again injured, this time re-injuring his wrist while others struggled to post competitive scores. This week the Crocs look to face a strong Dongs outfit without stars Scott Pendlebury, Bryce Gibbs and Michael Hurley who will be given a much deserved break.

In what has been a tough couple of weeks, Kuala Lumpur are understanding of Coach Ricochet's resting policy. Although it was not a successful 3 week period where KL rested all of their stars at different times, they know it will only benefit them going forward. Round 13 saw super stars Scott Pendlebury, Bryce Gibbs, Stephen Coniglio and Michael Hurley all given a much earn rest. Zach Tuohy and Tayte Pears were also among those given a chance to rest tired bodies, while Koby Stevens, Dylan Addison and Ahmed Saad were dropped due to poor form. Shane Savage, Harry Taylor and Daniel Rich were the only real standouts in what was a black day for the Crocs, losing to the Dongs by a whopping 779 points. Finally people down at Kuala Lumpur have seen the rewards of Coach Ricochet's "resting program" that drew immense criticism over the past 3 weeks. The Crocodiles battled on strong against the Head Hunters and with fresh legs ran over the top in the final minutes of play. Superstars Scott Pendlebury (145), Bryce Gibbs (164) and Harry Taylor (145) were instrumental in the win alongside young guns Luke Parker (129) and Shane Savage (136). But it was son-of-a-legend Tom Liberatore who destroyed anyone in his path to an huuuuge 191. The 21 year old is enjoying a big year averaging 130 over the early rounds of the year and is now on a 5 game average of 128. Finals Scores Crocodiles 1753 Defeated Head Hunters 1550

To Hard for Stiffy
Updated Thurs July 7, 2013

Kuala Lumpur stalwart Graham Johncock says fatigue forced him into his shock AXVs retirement. Johncock stunned Crocodile officials by calling an immediate end to his Asian XVs career.

"The rigours of playing AXVs footy, the body just could not handle it," he told reporters on Monday.

The 30-year-old carved a distinguished career as a backman yet played only two matches this season when ordered forward by first-year coach Ricochet. Johncock said selection rejection wasnt a factor in his mid-season retirement.

"It is something that has been building for a while, just little niggles every now and then, and taking longer to recover," he said.

"In the end, it was just too much to keep going.

"Over the last couple of years I have had problems with my ankle and then the knee and ongoing back issues. It just pretty much wore me down."

The Crocs had expected Johncock to play out the season, with Ricochet frequently saying the fan favourite was on the verge of selection.

He retires ranked among the all-time draft steals - taken with pick 60 in 2013.

"But not everybody gets that fairytale finish that they would like. I am over the moon with my career." Johncock said.

Johncock considered the offer of a farewell game on home turf, but feared his body would fail him.

"I am a firm believer that every game you get has to be earned," he said.

"And if I had earned mine, I would have wanted to perform. Im not sure my body would have held up."

Round 15 saw the Crocodiles pull together to kick a match winning 1731 points, just 22 points off the team's highest score for 2013. Up against a strong Ales' outfit, the Crocs had many strong contributors. One who has been struggling for form is young Tom Bellchambers. Tom certainly responded to his critics on the weekend amassing a huge 170 point game. But it was Super Star Scott Pendlebury who decided to go one better with a massive score of 174. Other solid contributors were Aaron Black (139), Luke Dahlhaus (118), Harley Bennell (118) and Michael Hurley (101). Final Scores ALES 1614 Defeated By CROCODILES 1731

Coming off 3 wins in a row Kuala Lumpur were quietly confident heading into their clash with the Head Hunters.  Unfortunately the Crocs were on the back foot from the outset with key players failing to perform. Gibbs (88), Taylor (66), Bellchambers (75) and Hurley (79) where all disappointing giving their experience and position within the group. Again it was left up to captain Scott Pendlebury to lead the way with a solid 140. It was again up to KL's young stars to prove themselves on the big stage and they delivered with Caddy (126), Bennell (114), Parker (114) and Liberatore (120) all putting in strong performances in defeat. Head Coach Ricochet named an unchanged lineup for the important clash against the Crabs in Bangkok even after the loss to the Head Hunters. It was a show of faith to the boys that had delivered the 3 weeks prior. And boy did they deliver. Vice Captain Bryce Gibbs rebounded out of a form slump posting a nice 135 while Parker (110), Hurley (112) and Bellchambers (102) all notched up nice scores. But it was the youngsters that put their stamp on the game and announced to the competition... "be very afraid of us in years to come". Tom Liberatore amassed a monster score of 190 to follow on from his recent purple patch which includes a last 5 weeks of 190, 120, 161, 76, 191 (147 average). Luke Dahlhaus was also huge, kicking his way to 182. Luke is also enjoying a good run of 182, 71, 123, 118. And it was surprise packet Aaron Black who continued in his stellar season to produce a solid 162. All three are part of a core group of youngsters that will be the driving force of the Crocs in 2014 and forward. The Crocodiles went into the last game of the Home and Away Season as underdogs against a similarly placed Vipers. Head Coach Ricochet expressed his disappointment in lack of public faith but also said it would have no bearing on the outcome.

"Yes it is a little disappointing but at the end of the day we know internally what we are capable of and outside perception never even comes into it" He said.

And it showed.

Kuala Lumpur quietly went to work on the favoured Vipers to be eventual winners by 101 points. (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,72574.msg998683.html#msg998683). Captain Scott Pendlebury was again inspirational (146) but young gun Tom Liberatore stole the show... again. Tom posted a massive 162 in a very impressive performance. He is enjoying quite a purple patch, averaging 150 over the last 6 rounds! Harley Bennell also enjoyed a return to form posting a nice 149 while Luke Parker (144) and Zachary Tuohy (125) were solid once again. Unfortunately the win was not enough to see Kuala Lumpur play finals but the future is bright after winning 5 of the last 6 games. Bring on 2014!

Loyalty Rewarded in Kuala Lumpur
Updated Wed Aud 21, 2013

In the modern times of free agency and money grabbing it is a welcoming sight to see loyalty within clubs, especially when its down at Kuala Lumpur.

Earlier this morning Head Coach Ricochet announced the promotion of Elephants to a leading role as Co-Coach of the club.

"Elephants and I have worked together for many years", he said at a club press conference this morning

"and at Kuala Lumpur we reward those who work hard and demonstrate loyalty at all times"

"Elephants is a prime example of this and a role model to our young squad"

When asked about rumours of lucrative offers thrown at the then Assistant Coach by other rival clubs throughout the year, Elephants simply replied, "money didn't even come into it"

"We are building a strong culture down here at Kuala Lumpur and I firmly believe we have the right squad and foundation to launch into a 2014 premiership fight"

Kuala Lumpur had wanted to promote Elephants earlier in the year, but timing was an issue. They first had to seek approval from the League and then decided to wait until all players and officials had finished up their end-of-year "Mad Monday, Toppies Tuesday, Wrecked Wednesday, Terrible Thursday and flowered Up Friday" celebrations.

Club Info is updated here. (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,72574.msg998675.html#msg998675)

Name Change Denied

It has come to light in recent hours, that, on the back of Steele Sidebottom's recent transfer to Kuala Lumpur from the Taiwan Dolphins, Crocs Co-Coach Elephants has had his request for a team name change denied. A move from the Kuala Lumpur Crocs to the Kuala Lumpur Sidebottom's was deemed inappropriate and unnecessary.

A bitter blow indeed.

2013 Kuala Lumpur Fairest & Best Awards Night
Updated Fri Jan 17, 2014

As the players launch into the new year, we look back at the Kuala Lumpur Fairest and Best Awards Night held in October last year.

It was a night full of glitz and glamour, with an early focus being the red carpet and of course... the wives and partners.

Scott Pendlebury continued to impress both on and off the footy field as per usual...

As did Vice Captain Bryce Gibbs...

Most players attended the night, with only a few apologies. Tom Bellchambers unexpectedly caught a nasty case of gastro and was unable to make it.

Now, down to business.

Voting throughout the night proved to be a roller coaster ride with many monster scores being posted by players across the board. Scott Pendlebury was an early favourite before the night but it was the General in defence Harry Taylor who led after the first 5 rounds. Harry spent much of the year in defence but also got opportunities forward where he produced every time.

Harry's moment was short lived though, as young gun Luke Parker quickly took over after a stellar start to the year. Head Coach Ricochet was very pleased with Luke's progress and expected him to be more attacking in 2014 by spending more time in the forward line. He piled on 13 votes over the first 14 rounds and produced some massive performances. But this was the business end of the season and this is when superstars stand up... enter Scott Pendlebury.

The Club Captain piled on 9 votes over the last 5 games to snatch the lead and eventually the Croc Medal. Within his season Scott also managed to produce a massive 200pt game which currently holds the record within the Kuala Lumpur club. Another young star in Tom Liberatore finished second with 16 votes while Parker, Gibbs and Taylor rounded out the top 5. See all the votes as they were polled below:

In Scott's acceptance speech he was very humble and thanking of the Club and family,

"We have already built a great culture here in KL" he said,

"and even though this was only our first year we are all grateful for everything the club has done for us."

Coach Ricochet also said a few words to those in attendance. He spoke highly of the playing group but also gave a stern warning to those at the club and the competition as a whole,

"Although we have a lot of kids on our list and this was our first year within the Asian Competition, we need to be bigger and better next year"

"We have set a solid foundation, it is now time to build on it"

The night was full of celebration and went without major incident. Although we did notice someone sneak in a side door earlier in the night, but we couldn't quite tell who it was...

Review: A huge year from the Kuala Lumpur Captain as he lead his young chargers from the front. Pendlebury enjoyed a super consistent year with only one score under 100 in Round 18 when Whiley kept him to only 25 touches. But with 15 scores of 140 or more, including a massive 200, it is easy to see why Pendlebury is considered a modern day superstar. Pendlebury was rewarded for his stella season after being selected in the 2013 All-Asian Team, finishing 5th in highest averaging players across the competition, and is hot favourite for the 2013 Croc Medallist.

Review: Kuala Lumpur finally got there man. Steele Sidebottom is a gun. Full Stop. The End. Need we say any more? Slightly down on his 137 average from 2012, he still enjoyed another great year in the Asian Tournament averaging 129. This still placed him inside the top 30 midfielders of the comp! And at just 22 years old! Steele was given a lot more attention in 2013 and was tagged effectively on a few occasions but when he is standing alongside Scott Pendlebury, we expect him to overcome this hurdle. After all, he is learning from the best. 2013 also saw Steele spend quite a bit of time forward, with at least 7 games where he definitely started forward or spent time forward. This could see the midfielder gain forward status, but it might be wishful thinking. One interesting note is Steele's friendship with the Vietnam Vipers' Dayne Beams. It may be only a coincidence but despite being in completely different teams, in different countries and more than 2000kms apart... Steele's level of performances were directly related to whether or not Dayne played (for the Vipers). When Beams did play in 2013, Steele averaged a massive 140! Placing him inside the top 8 midfielders in the comp! So please oh please Vietnam, look after Beams and give him a full season in 2014. Or just trade him to Kuala Lumpur

Review: What a breakout year for young Libba. He certainly grabbed the attention of a few in the industry after increasing his average from 100 to 126 in what was a very impressive 2013. He also finished the home and away season on top of the contested possession leaderboard and also the clearances leaderboard. Not bad for a 3rd year player. Much like Sidebottom and Smith,Tom must have really enjoyed his mid season bye as his 2nd half of the season was also huge. On returning after Round 11 he posted a 138 average over the remaining 12 games of the season! In Round 14 we saw just how high Tom's ceiling really is after he posted a huge score of 191. And just to prove it wasn't a fluke, he did it again in Round 18 (190)... and again in Round 21 (194)!! In fact he posted 7 scores over 150 during the year. Consistency is a concern but at just 21 years old he has a few years left in him develop.

Review: The Crocodiles are very excited to see what 2014 brings for young Shane Savage. Full of potential and ability, Savage has always been held back by the Substitute Rule (introduced across all XVs competitions in 2011). If we look deeply into Savage's modest average of 92 in 2013 we can see why those at Kuala Lumpur are getting excited for 2014. First of all, 5 of his 15 games this year were sub affected, severely hindering his overall average. If we take these games out Shane's average jumps from 92 to a very nice 118! Second, of the 6 of his 10 full games he actually started forward/played forward (he also kicked 3 goals in the 7th game), giving him a very very good chance of starting forward for the Crocs in 2014. All in all it was a solid season for Shane and we at Kuala Lumpur cannot wait to see what his 2014 brings.

Review: 2013 proved to be an interesting year for Bryce Gibbs. The Vice Captain of the Crocodiles was often thrown around up forward, down back or through the midfield depending on the needs of the team. He posted a modest average of 117, which included an injury affected game (120ave unsubbed), but fell away at the end of the year after a superb start. But boy oh boy did he go bang at the start. Bryce averaged a mammoth 139 unsubbed in the first 10 games of the year to put himself right up there with the best defenders in the league (by a long long way). A second half fade out saw him drop to a 117 average which still placed him as a top 5 defender in the Asian Competition. Gibbs was often required to start in defence on multiple occasions and did it well, giving many the indication he will do so again in 2014. For Bryce personally he is hoping that in 2014 he will to get back to his former heights of a 143ave in 2011 and 140ave in 2010 to really stamp his authority on the competition

Review: What a breakout year for young Luke Parker. In just his 3rd year he boosted his average from 85 to a respectable 114. The young midfielder certainly showed the Asian community what he was capable of too, posting four 140+ scores in his 2013 season. Inconsistency is commonly seen in young players and there are a few areas Luke needs to work on in order to stamp the quieter games out of his season. None the less Kuala Lumpur are very impressed with the improvement Parker showed this year and are expecting more improvement in 2014.

Review: It was another huge year for the Little Master (nickname given to Gary Ablett Jnr for his mastery of Karate while living in Asia). The 2013 Oriental Medallist enjoyed another big season posting a 151 average across 21 games. In fact, he was averaging a massive 162! until injuries started to take their toll later in the season. It's no secret, Gary Ablett Jnr is a genuine superstar. So when Kuala Lumpur got wind of his willingness to leave Taiwan, the Crocs left no stone unturned in order to find a suitable deal to get the Little Master across to Kuala Lumpur. There are rumours that Head Coach Ricochet may use his prize recruit up forward more in 2014, which will only improve his scoring in the Asian Competition and increase his chances for M/F status in 2015! Exciting times ahead for the Crocs.

2014 CW Preseason Cap
Updated Tues March 25, 2014

The Kuala Lumpur Crocodiles have secured their first piece of silverware after taking out the 2014 CW Preseason Cap.

Named after the Inaugural Administrator of the AXVs Competition, Colliwobblers, this competition ran through February and March in a lead up to the 2014 AXVs Premiership Season.

Kuala Lumpur were lucky enough to have a majority of their senior players available right through the competition as they breezed into the Semi Finals.

"If they are fit they will play" Co-Head Coach Ricochet stated.

"We are taking no prisoners this year and will be firing on all cylinders for Round 1"

"This competition is the perfect preparation"

The 1st Semi Final proved to be a little more difficult with a close fought 59 point win over the Laos Elephants. KL were without star recruit Gary Ablett but it did not matter as young stars Josh Caddy (161) and Koby Stevens (157) stood up to lead the team into the 2014 CW Preseason Final.

But in order to take home the Preseason Cap, KL would face a big challenge in the form of the 2013 Preseason Premiers, the UAE Tigers. UAE had recruited strongly over the off season and were considered a strong contender in the 2014 Premiership Season.

However the Crocodiles seem to have a new hunger in 2014 and oh boy were they ruthless. Gary Ablett Jnr reminded the competition he is still #1 by posting a huge 185 as captain. Scott Pendlebury (165), Corey Enright (148), Jack Darling (142) and Luke Dahlhaus (141) were also superb as Kuala Lumpur cruised to a 313 point victory.

Congratulations to the 2014 CW Preseaon Cap Premiers and bring on the 2014 Premiership Season!

What a start to the year. Not only did KL comfortably overrun the Taiwan Dolphins 2152 to 1780 but they also top scored for the comp. It was the experience of Gary Ablett Jnr (185), Scott Pendlebury (165) and Corey Enright (148) who led the way posting massive scores. Luke Dahlhaus and Jack Darling were also impressive in producing 141 and 142 respectively. It was please weekend for coaches Ricochet and Elephants, with all players contributing to the win.

In what was a disastrous weekend for Kuala Lumpur, the Crocs were soundly beaten by the Australian Ales 1912 to 1669. Gary Ablett is rarely beaten but he was kept to a quiet 102 by the Australian taggers. In complete contrast to the week before, there were limited contributors from the Crocs starting squad. Scott Pendlebury was exceptional posting a massive 205 and Luke Dahlhaus continued his early season form with a 123 but others were well below par. Hopefully the players will learn from such a poor weekend.

What can we say... the big guns really game out to play this weekend. Gary Ablett Jnr was huge with a massive 210 points and as the skipper lead the way. He certainly wasn't alone either with Luke Parker (171), Tom Liberatore (170), Steele Sidebottom (170), Jack Darling (141) and Bryce Gibbs (126) all producing strong scores. Despite a couple of others underperforming it was an easy win for the Crocs, overrunning the Dongs by 338pts.

REPORT
Round 4 again saw the KL Crocs grab the 4 points in what turned into a very scrappy affair. The stroy of the day was KL's forward line who failed to show up, leading to low scoring game. Luke Parker was the stand alone forward who was productive on the day but Jack Darling, Aaron Black and Josh Caddy all failed to fire. Brodie Grundy was also clearly beaten in the ruck and was eventually subbed out of the game. Despite many poor performances the KL midfield were able to step up and pull the Crocs over the line. Gary Ablett Jnr was exceptional (as per usual) posting a lovely 173pts, while Scott Pendlebury (153), Bryce Gibbs (126) and Steele Sidebottom (130) were also solid. Kuala Lumpur were eventual winners beating the Vipers 1767 to 1630.

REPORT
The boys certainly responded to Co-Coach Elephant's post game spray last week. The KL Coaching Staff were not impressed with what the players produced last week and moved to immediately rebound. And rebound they did. After a dismal effort up front the week before, the KL forward were relentless. Luke Dahlhaus (151) and Jack Darling (144) were both outstanding, while Luke Parker again contributed strongly with a nice 129. Debutant Sam Lloyd was also solid up front with a 93. The Kuala Lumpur engine room again produced massive numbers. Steele Sidebottom (183) was simply outstanding in his best game of the year, while Scott Pendlebury (166), Gary Ablett (160), Bryce Gibbs (147) and Koby Stevens (124) were unstoppable. The Crocs cruised home to victory, smashing the Tigers 2090 to 1733.

Things couldn't get much better down at Bukit Jalil National Stadium as the Crocs keep ticking along. Round 6 saw another win on the board. As per usual it was the midfield group leading the way. Steele Sidebottom showed that last weekend's 183 certainly wasn't a fluke, posting his third 170+ score for the year. Gary Ablett was again strong with a 169, while Bryce Gibbs continued his 2014 form with a huge 160. Tom Liberatore (145), Koby Stevens (133), Luke Parker (144), Luke Dahlhaus (137) and Scott Pendlebury (134) all enjoyed big games as the Crocs overrun the Mongolian Lambs 2004 to 1950.

Round 7 turned out to be a low scoring affair down at Bukit Jalil National Stadium as the KL Crocs 1881 defeated the Laos Elephants. The Crocs had many contributors with only a few standouts enjoying massive games. Gary Ablett, Luke Dahlhaus and Tom Liberatore were these standouts. Ablett has enjoyed a great start to the year averaging a massive 166 across the first 7 games, consistently posting huge numbers. Round 7 was no exception, producing a nice 168. Luke Dahlhaus is also enjoying a breakout year. His 158 against the Elephants brings his average for the year up to 132, placing in the top level of fwds in the Asian competition. Its been a slow start to the year for young gun Tom Liberatore but he backed up his 143 from last week with a nice 149. KL are hoping this form will continue. At the end of the game KL Head Coach Ricochet was happy to get the W but acknowledged that the group was still building to the level they are expecting.

REPORT
And so it begins! Round 8 marked the start of the bye period which was expected to be a very tough time for all clubs across the competition. The Crocs would have to travel to Tibet to face the Llamas in the first weekend of the byes. It was expected to be a challenging weekend with KL only fielding 12 players and many stars being rested. But at KL when times get tough, we expect our personnel to rise to the occassion, and rise they did. Tom Liberatore was unstoppable as he worn the captains badge in the absence of Scott Pendlebury. He posted a massive 203 points in a GAJ-like performance. Bryce Gibbs also continued his 2014 form working his way to a masssive 163. Luke Parker was sensational (again) for the forwards, kicking and tackling his way to a 167 score. KLs other forward weren't to be outdone either, with Jack Darling (131) and Luke Dahlhaus (112) also stepping up. Even without some big names, KL were too strong for the Llamas and won easily, 1653 to 1157.

It was round 9 where the Crocs felt the full carnage of the byes. A massive 350 from Captain Gary Ablett Jnr could even save the Crocs from falling to the Bangladesh Bears 1852 to 1656. Luke Parker and Steele Sidebottom were also huge in defeat, posting 167 and 135 respectively. Luke is currently enjoying a breakout year in the Asian competition. Aaron Black and Scott Pendlebury were also solid contributors, but it was left to too few and KL were soundly beaten.

The Crocs looked to continue their winning form in Round 8 and had some standout performers. Heath Shaw and Jimmy Frawley were excellent in defence against PNG, posting 141 and 136 respectively. Young gun Tom Liberatore was also excellent in the middle as get climbed to a massive 164 in true workmanlike fashion. Other strong performers were Luke Parker (139) who continued his breakout year, Jack Darling (125) and KL Captain Scott Pendlebury (140). But the star of the day was young ruckman Jarrod Witts who posted a big score for a ruckman (133) and was in fact a late inclusion for young Brodie Grundy. It was Witts' highest score of 2014 to date. KL ran out the game eventual winners 1990 to PNG 1792.

Crocs Feast at Awards Night
Updated Wed August 27, 2014

The KL Crocodiles' 2014 season is far from over with all involved focused on the Grand Final this weekend, but their successful season (thus far) was rewarded on Tuesday night at the 2014 AXV Awards Night.

The most prestigious sporting night in Asia was as glamorous as ever with all clubs, players and coaches on show. In its second year, it is the night for awards such as the Golden Dragon, Wooden Chopstick and the biggest one of all the Colliwobblers Medal. Named in honour of the man who set up this entire competition, the CW Medal is a Brownlow style medal, with 3-2-1 votes given for each AXV game. The night was a success for all involved with little drama (except for a drunk KL co-coach Elephants who ran nude through the crowd, kissing elderly women on his way). KL were particularly successful taking home a host of awards.

After finishing a disappointing 12th in 2013, Kuala Lumpur were aggressive in trade periods and became one of the premier teams within the AXVs competition. The Colliwobblers Preseason Cap provided the perfect launching pad for the Crocs' 2014 season. The CW Preseason Cap is named in honour of the Inaugural Administrator of the AXVs Competition, Colliwobblers. Colli will always be remembered by Asians everywhere for his commitment to the AXVs competition. The Crocs won the preseason (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,72574.msg1323198.html#msg1323198) compeition after defeating the UAE Tigers 2090 to 1777. The CW Cap was the first award for KL of the night.

The CW Preseason Cap

The Crocodiles finished 2nd in the 2014 Home and Away Season and will play off in this years Grand Final against the Bangladesh Bears. This improvement was reflected early in the event, as number of KL personnel were singled out in the first of the individual awards of the night, the All-Asian Team of the Year. Gary Ablett was awarded the teams Vice Captain, while young guns Steele Sidebottom and Luke Parker also made the final team. Co-Coaches Ricochet and Elephants were also rewarded for their year and were named as the coaches of the All-Asian Team.

The Golden Budda

The cameras didn't stay off KL for very long as the Golden Budda was awarded shortly after. This award is given to the Highest Scoring Team of the 2014 Home and Away Season. A strong reflection of how well the team performed this season, KL took home the Budda after scoring 36,132 points for the year. KL's total score was also a new record! Eclipsing the 36,043 set by the Lambs in 2013. It was an award that the team at KL were very proud of, although Co-Coach Elephants did attempt to do body shots off the Budda's Belly later in the night... but thats another story.

Other awards were given out throughout the night including the Golden Tater, Wooden Chopsitck, Golden Dragon, Jade Ring and Oriental Medal. The team at the KL Crocs would like to congratulate those winners. But it was time for the big one, the Colliwobblers Medal, and what an exciting finish it was. Gary Ablett, who had dominated a majority of the year, missed the remaining few games with a shoulder injury and Papua New Guinea gun Tom Rockliff was closing in fast. An upset was not to be though, with the KL superstar taking out his second medal (previously called the Great Khali award) after edging out Rockliff by a single vote. Congrats GAJ!

Have updated the Complete Trades section on the front page here (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,72574.msg998673.html#msg998673)

Its been a busy trade period for the Crocs. I've combined all the completed trades into one below

IN  Harley Bennell + Nick Malceski + Nick Dal Santo + Josh Thomas + Shaun Burgoyne + Chris Mayne + Matt Rosa + Joel Patfull + NAT 38  + NAT 43
OUT  Bryce Gibbs + Josh Caddy + Dean Towers + Claye Beams + Dylan Buckley + Jamie Cripps + Nick Graham + Harry Taylor + NAT 15 + NAT 31 + NAT 47 + NAT 70 + ROOK 15 + ROOK 47 + ROOK 63

Our backline was our weakest link so priority was given there to strengthen that. The result is (If a few dpp changes go our way):

Nick Malceski, Nick Dal Santo, Heath Shaw, Shaun Burgoyne
(James FrawleyD/F, Corey Enright, Shane Savage, Jimmy Webster, Dylan Roberton, Joel Patfull, Dylan Grimes, Jackson Trengove, Tayte Pears, Kamdyn McIntosh, Jack Frost)

Its obviously very very old but only Enright and Burgoyne have the one year left with the remainder having contracts of 2 or more years left. So hopefully in that time kids like Jimmy Webster will develop into starters, while guys like Savage and Frawley are already there.

and hopefully we can sneak in a few more late trades before the end of the week

Good to see a young emerging KL star get some recognition.

http://www.richmondfc.com.au/news/2015-08-26/foley-backs-fleetfoot-mac

QuoteRecently-retired Richmond star Nathan Foley has strongly endorsed emerging Tiger youngster Kamdyn McIntosh.

Foley believes the hard-running McIntosh has what it takes to develop into a key member of the Tigers’ line-up over the next decade.

“It’s his first full year of (AFL) football, which people forget, and he’s played every game,” Foley said on this week’s edition of the Club’s official podcast ‘Talking Tigers’.

“He’s just got elite attributes . . .

“He’s a big body, he’s got an amazing tank, wins his own ball, gets it on the outside and, defensively, he’s unbelievable on the wing.

He’s had a great year.”

Get around Boris! Coming off a lovely 118ave too!

http://www.geelongcats.com.au/news/2015-09-11/enright-to-play-on

QuoteGeelong veteran Corey Enright will play on in 2016, and could potentially break the club games record.

“The club made me an offer earlier in the year but I wanted to wait until the end of the season before making a decision,” Enright said.

“My body feels good and the coaches are happy with the way I am playing and I am keen to go on. It was disappointing to miss the finals this year but I think we have a good group of players and we will be back contending next season.
