they should have done that with the EPL one as well, what happens for mid-season trades? do those players get added to the system and the players who leave are removed?

They just dont look fluent the only standout player is Alex terra one to watch for fantasy, but the player i said would kill it WORM embarssed himself a couple of times i am spewing aswell have heart in a multi :( they are tring to many long balls not using the width IMO

Its hasn't Fully updated yet because Subs are supposed to come in so i should be equal point with Ossie, from recolication last year there was over 30,000

Bugger, sorry guys, didn't realise I was missing all the banter here. I thought it had been quiet on the league forum.
(Well to be honest, meant to check back on this thread, but the SC finals + life has taken precedent. Got the GF win in the cash league, so can now switch back to socball full time)
I am Heart Attack (a Victory fan) who has been delighted with the start of the season. Sydney & Heart at the bottom of the ladder, doesn't get much sweeter than that!
Due to SC immersion, spent way less time putting together starting team this year, and was damn hard getting any straight info in the AFL dominated media.
Finally hitting my straps now, have traded my way to a decent squad, and prepared for the roller coaster ride of teams with double games in the coming rounds.

I just took the tour with Simon Hill, sounds fun. Can you join late? Is there an auto-fill function like in DT?
I only know players from Adelaide really and those who have played for Adelaide, plus the big names (too expensive?) and the villians from Victory >:(

You still get the 100. You can join but don't think you can join the H2H leagues. Could if you tried the codes.

Let's be honest, league ranking is not the be all and end all. Would you rather finish 3rd in a league ranked 15th, or 1st in a league ranked 98th? I know which one I'd take...

Warning - In Round 6, the 'double' games start.
Each week, 2 teams play 2 games - Wellington & Victory the 1st week.
Need to start thinking about bringing in some more players from these teams to take advantage of double points!
Obviously the two teams will change each week, so have a think about it when you are planning - in many of those weeks, could well be worth taking a 3 or 6 point deduction to load your team.
Have to think smart about it though. No point in having a defender play 2 games if he concedes 2 goals a game.
This, combined with watching out for future byes, will go a long way to separating the wheat from the chaff.

As these teams are playing twice in the upcoming weeks, it also means they will have more byes as weeks progess

From what I can see, all teams have 3 byes spread over the season. The double games don't affect that, just that the need to squeeze the extra rounds in somewhere.
The are taking a couple of rounds and playing them as one-off midweek fixtures during the season.
It is worthwhile printing out the full fixture if you can get your hands on it and then you can look at the doubles and byes coming up.
It is far from straight forward, as we can see this round with Gold Coast having their 2nd bye already.
Seriously? Double points. This is a strange fantasy game.
Double points only in the sense they will play twice in a week - same as the EPL, always have to be aware of mid week fixtures.
It is by far the rudimentary of systems as far as Fantasy Football goes, they buy the 'lite' version of the software from the EPL comp, so doesn't have all the same features.
The key to A League is to watch for double fixtures, byes (this year) and try and have a full playing squad to help with bye coverage and increase in team value.
Much harder than nearly any other sport to actually know who will take the filed each week, so keep an eye/ear out on Thurs & Fri for what info you can glean. FoxSports is as good as any site for updated news

Hello - nothing wrong with trading in this game. Nothing like SC with your limited trades, here you fall behind if you are not doing at least one trade most weeks. With so few points on offer, you need to be on the form players.

I'm not really sure. Never check up for foxsports on the weekend.
Just checked up. Do you know the black bar where it says my team, transfers' etc. Where it says Latest points, click there. It shows you this weeks scores so far on who's played.

The scores are normally updated a few hours after all the games for the day.
On Friday when there is only one game, normally updated within an hour, but for Sunday with both games, usually within 2 hours of BOTH games finishing. Substitutions etc done Sunday night.

Bit of bad news for you Powerman. Muscat has tweaked an ankle and will be out for a month, and Dugandzic will struggle for a start this week - suspect Celeski will take his place in the starting line up after he sparked the win v Brisbane.
I've got Petkovic, Leijer, Celeski, Riccardinho (My Boy Riccy! ;D) + Sigmund, Brown & Ifill (c). Will stand me in good stead this week, but next week, it's Gold Coast & Newcastle with the 'bonus' game.
I have little of either, so need to bank some big points this week, and use a few to trade the team a little. Sydney with the bye.

For the 1st time, they have a history tab near your team shirt that shows (presuming you have used the same email address?) your history in the comp. Unfortunately only goes back 2 years.

Muscat (saying 4 weeks, but would be staggered if he doesn't face Heart on Oct 2)
Beauchamp (suspended for 2 weeks).
Also, the Aussie Youth Team has an upcoming fixture. I think they are only missing one week, but incl the cream of A League youth and have been popular cheap picks.
The absent incl - Dugandzic, Ferreira, Foschini (Victory) Payne, Cernak (Nth Qld) Jesic (New) Devere (Bris) Mullen (Adel).
Trade Options
If you are not hell bent on picking up Newcastle or Gold Coast players this week (with 2 games in the round), Perez returns from suspension for Central Coast. Looked flash in his early game before copping a 2 game ban for diving (hallelejah! Way to go A League judiciary) :)
Priced at only 5.9, he showed he can take a penalty (always handy to have a few penalty takers in your squad ;)) Will direct the midfield traffic.
Now for those looking at grabbing some New or GC double action, the following have attraction:

As a veteran of A League Fantasy (since day dot), I feel this is really the only comp my experience can help others. I love my SC but haven't cracked top 5000, and normally wallow about midfield in EPL fantasy. I don't feel qualified in those comps to be offering advice.
It seems many of you are have little to no knowledge on many of the 'minor' players - I certainly don't mean that in a bad way! I am glad you are playing the camp and having a crack.
I had a peek at the teams in our Classic League. I am going to make suggestions as to who you should dump from your squads, for various reasons. I have mentioned a few possible inclusions in the previous post.
Ossie - Ramsay (Adel) will struggle for game time as the big names return from injury, Greenacre (Well) doesn't seem to have improved this season and could spend the cash better elsewhere.
Rob - Carle (Syd) is looking at missing another 2 weeks, and hardly sparkled when he did play (I had the goat too!) Henrique (Qld) suffered a shocking arm injury last week and will miss the bulk of the season. Trading those 2 would give you plenty to play with.
Yoda - Greenacre (see above). Obviously got your 2 New bench players to come in. Sorry, think Neville is another in the National Youth Team. Going quite nicley...
AUFC - Big week, well done. Surprised a Reds supporter could bring himself to pick up Muscat in the 1st place ;) He looks like missing a couple, maybe Thwaite from GC is a handy replacement who can score the odd goal, and save you some coin.
Hello - Heffernan is proving to be over priced, and largely disappointing (I had him too!). Kruse is going to miss at least another game, might be worth grabbing a (cheaper) Djite.
Benjy - Doubt you will get much return from Foxe. Sure, he's cheap, but will only come on a late sub in a backline that can't keep a clean sheet. Kruse (see above).
McRooster - Kwasnik is a goat, and will give you nothing but heartburn. Break free now! Kellaway from Victory is not cheap and seems destined for a bit part role - the kind that drove Ward from the club.
Again, I mean no offence, and if you don't want my suggestions, tell me to shut up. Only trying to help, and we are all shooting to boost the league rating.
Trade your team aggressively to take advantage of the quirks in the draw ;)

I have gone for the wildcard this week, my team was going fine untill this two games in a week thing what aload of crap, Becuase i love Adelaide this year and add 4 players hurts when they only play once hopefully the wildcard gets me back where i belong!
We get the same in the EPL Rob, with some teams having two games in a round, some none.
Brave strategy, ages until Adelaide have the two games, but at least no bye for Adelaide for the next month. Best of luck...

I used the Wildcard as well this week. Team was absolutely horrible.
Big in's this week include: Culina, Ifill, Flores, Thwaite and Brockie (Double header by the Jets for 2 weeks).
Had to jump on a few average players to afford them but worth it 8).
Ahhh, God bless you John Curtis! My punt on an unloved, cheap Gold Coast defender pays off in spades when the gumby fires home a 90th minute winner. Certainly put on a better display than Mr Popular Djite, who really looked woeful in the last 2 games.
He has been a killer for all coaches who put the Capt armband on him this past round, and will need to lift pronto to keep a spot in my squad.
Another healthy haul this week - 57 points gets me up to 254th overall. League jumped up to 163rd, probably largely based on McRooster's much improved effort.
Now, strategy for maximum points over the next few weeks:
Round 8
Central Coast Mariners with the Bye
Syd & Nth Qld with the 2 games
(Syd are at home for both to Gold coast/Nth Qld, Nth Qld both away to Wellington/Syd).
I would be loading up on Sydney players - they should be fit and fresh after coming off the bye, and look to have 2 very winnable games at home.
Round 9
No double games this week, and Newcastle with the Bye.
Thinking the National Youth Team will have finished commitments by then, so right to start grabbing all the returning talent (Payne, Cernak, Neville etc).
Everyone has their own thoughts, but I am having great success picking the keeper of the team with a better chance of winning both games (Petkovic, and now Moss have both netted me 12 points in these rounds, pure gold for a keeper and guaranteed to give you the jump on the competition).
Here are a few players from Syd/NQ that look attractively priced (bear in mind I will be out tonight, so you will need to check squads to ensure all are playing):

Yeah, Captain choice is a real lottery.
Seems to go in a run too - if you pick a decent Capt, it is like everything you touch turns to gold.
Pick a goat (looking at you Djite!) and you can be cursed for weeks in trying to find a player that scores more than 2!

Williams could well be worth the risk.
I did have a look at him, but left him off best buys as I think NQF will struggle to score v Sydney. He should be leading the attack in the absence of Payne, but Payne should be back next week so it would really be a short term selection.
You could certainly do worse, but maybe lean towards Cazarine from Syd at a similar price.
Even though the Sky Blues have had a shocking start to the season, I expect them to gradually improve over the next few rounds, starting with their double header at home this week. Cazarine is a Brazillian who has already scored one goal, but might get shoved to the bench when Brosque gets back to full fitness.
Cheers for that. Might look at Sydney if they showed more form.
Hard thing with the A-League is that form seems to be very short term. Aside from Adelaide this season, all teams have had ups and downs in only 7 rounds.
Even in previous seasons, it it really only Victory of 2 years ago that have streeted the field, the table often ends up very congested, so it becomes trying to pick a player when he is hot, and dump them quickly for the next hot thing coming through.
Quite a different approach to SC...

Gold Coast's Curtis - Saviour one week, White Goodman the next. The goat was only only the park from 30 seconds before getting sent off for a stupid elbow. Would normally chuckle at such a move, but when his -2 score comes into the team to replace an absent Ifill, I ain't laughing!
Real mixed bag from my recommendations last week. The cheap players Hughes (NQ) and Cazarine (Syd) both found the back of the net. On the flip side, Reddy was just average in goal, Talay got himself red carded, and Bridge played well without any luck (still can't figure out why he didn't get assist points in setting up Sydney's 1st goal Wed night).
Can console myself seeing Sydney winless and bottom of the table ;D

With the Heart v Victory derby postponed to next Friday, that gives injured players like Fat Cat (Hernandez), Muscat and Brebner a chance to overcome their injury niggles and expect all back for that game.
The following week becomes even stranger - Central Coast (CC) have the bye on the weekend, but play the midweek game. Brisbane are the only team with 2 games in Round 10. They have a tough away game to Perth this week, but might be time to start looking at players like McKay and Theoklitos this week to save on trades next week.

Think he will only miss the one game, particularly as there are no A League games next week (except for the delayed Melb Derby, which counts towards this game week). The Socceroos play next Sat night, hence the A League break.

Caught up a bit to HeartAttack, but Rob overtook me, so I dropped to third.

Super effort from Rob this week - looks like I jumped off Djite at the wrong time :P Talk he is carrying an injury this week, so may not get 90 minutes, and with Fowler out too, some trades might be needed to fix up strikers.
Brisbane have 2 games this round, so I have done a double trade to bring in Theoklitos & Reinaldo (Capt). Them, plus Stefanutto and McKay gives me 4 playing 2 games.
Leckie, Kantarovski etc will miss this week too playing for the National U19 team. Painful they are away, but they have made the final of the Asian Cup (playing Nth Korea in the decider on the weekend) so a good effort there.

Sorry Lads, been a little absent of late. Was hosting the mother-in-law from Florida (86yo but won't slow down). Hence activities that were not deemed 'necessary' by the missus fell by the wayside... :'(
During this period, I have wallowed in mediocrity, and allowed some great surges from Oz & Rob to propel them to the top. It's been great, steady progress in our league ranking. Confident if everyone stays (relatively) on the ball, we can crack top 50.
Sympathies to those looking for big scores from various NQF-New players after their match tonight was postponed. Seriously, was there no one with a brain big enough to think hosting motorcross might not be conducive to a playable surface?
And to make a decision when NQF had already flown to Brisbane, and was on the road to the Newcastle was just amateur. One step forward, 2 steps back...
Now, looking ahead. I know some of you have already used your Wildcard, but for those holding it close, the upcoming 6 weeks oftens defines the season, both in real and fantasy terms. With many teams doubling up, time to jump on board.
I know they have been woefully out of form (imagine gifting Sydney, at home, an easy win - disgraceful!), but it could be time to jump on the Glory train.
I'll break this into 2 sections - the schedule, and best buys. Let's look at the teams with double games on the horizon.
Game Round 12
Brisbane (Syd-A, Well-A)
Perth (CCM-A, Heart H)
Heart (New-A, Perth-A)
Game Round 13
Adelaide (Bris-A, Perth-H)
Perth (Well-H, Adel-A)
NQF (CCM-H, Heart-H)
The standout is Perth, with 4 games in the next 2 rounds. A League history has shown that often one team bottoms out each year, but can't see that being Perth this year. Team form regularly fluctuates for mid range teams, and it is hard to see them failing to bank some points during the upcoming fortnight.
A run of CCM (A), Heart (H), Well (H) and Adel (A) sure contains some obstacles, but a rare opportunity to get 4 sets of points in 2 rounds that can't really be ignored.
Many, included me, saw Brisbane with extra games coming up and decided to stay loaded after their double a few weeks ago. What I hadn't really picked up was who they are actually playing.
Over the next 3 games, the face Syd (A), Well (A) and Adel (H) - that's a damn tough run, and they will be doing very well to still be sitting in 2nd by late November.
Best Buys
Perth:
Fowler (Fwd - 9.8) Takes the penalties, and should be safe to assume at least a goal each game round.
(His price is 9.8, but for some reason, despite 10 edits, can't get rid of the bloody icon)
Sterjovski (Fwd - 9.0) A cheaper option to Fowler, and sure to see plenty of game time. And will take the penalties when Fowler gets dragged after 70min ;)
Velaphi (GK - 8.4) Mainly suggested for those with Bolton (Syd) currently between the posts. After copping the arse from Lavizcka last week for the young Nicevski, he will find it hard to get back into the team following a clean sheet v Perth. Even if they give up a few goals, with 4 games, it would take a shocking performance not to log enough points to make all-star each week.
Heart (The next 3 games are all away in some tough venues. Be vary about loading up on them):
Kalmar (Mid - 2.4) For those who don't have this super cheap option, get on board. Getting good game time - started as an injury replacement and has been signed to a 2 year deal. A Steal!
Behich (Mid - 3.3) Actually plays as a defender in the current Heart set-up, but another handy option for those looking to bank some points for future upgrades.
Terra (Fwd - 5.1) Due to come back from injury this week, and with Aloisi missing at least the next 2 games, should have a decent spell up front.
NQF - Don't go dumping any of these boys if you can avoid it. With 2 winnable home games in Round 13, and the postponed game from last night on the horizon, hold those you can.
One recommendation though is Grant McDonald (Def - 2.2). Has been getting good game time, and would be a handy replacement for those holding Hamill (Heart), who is facing a good month of the sidelines with a bung ankle.
Injury News
Mullen from Adelaide rolled an ankle at training and is certain to miss the pyschological thriller against Victory on Friday night. The Reds are cruising at the top of the table, but the Victorians have won their last 9 clashes. How mouth watering...
Leckie and Dodd are both listed as doubtful. Would not be surprised if one of them makes it to the start line, but anyone's guess which one...
Burns from Perth is suspended this week. Even though he plays for Perth, I would suggest ditching him ASAP - it's a rare week he doesn't acumulate a yellow card.
BTW - for those wondering if Victory will ever get a bye (this draw makes the AFL look like pariah of fairness), they will come later in the season. The FFA learned that teams would struggle to handle the burden of Champions League mid week, combined with a full schedule lead to a reduction of quality across the board.
Yeah, I know Adelaide & Newcastle have made great strides in previous ACL campaigns, but often as the expense of their domestic form.

It will be rescheduled at some later stage Oz. Few tams have some holes in their fixtures in January, so imagine they will try and capitalise on school holidays around that time and slot it in then.
Happens in the UK too, but generally because of frozen pitches, not motorcross...
The AFL is too pig headed to do anything about changing, we have seen that with refusal to move games to the G, and consistently defending the Etihad surface. Many Victory games have been threatened due to the state of the turf, but they pressed on regardless.

Ahhh McRooster, welcome to the murky world of the A League team lists. They are next to useless if your target is on the fringe - most teams lists finish with 3-4 to be ommitted, giving you not much to go on.
I suspect he was given a breather last week after a good campaign in the U 19 Asian Cup, and would be surprised if he doesn't play forward in the starting 11 v Gold Coast this week.

Theo with two away games is a brave choice, but could prove successful. I am a sucker for forwards, with a proven record. Reckon I will be going Fowler, but not quite decided on what trades to pull this week. Reinaldo is my other option.
Stefanutto is out again this week with a hammy. Be surprised if they risk him mid week with an away trip to Wellington. He will need to be benched for this game round, or traded for some of the cheap options I've suggested to get the form players in the mids/fwds.

That's a 50/50 call. Gold Coast have struggled for many goals, but NQF always seem to concede at least one. Maybe go with Fyfe, and you have McDonald up your sleeve for a double game next week.

I suck at Foxsports so lose interest in it. Forgot to check my team for about a month and checked up on it last week (as well as my EPL). To my suprise it wasn't last :P.

Luigi - it is a forward full of woe and dispair :-[ Greenacre has all his success early each season, Cazarine is still dependent on a poor team, and Williams have never come close to the hoped for potential.
Obviously can't do anything to fix it until the next game round. Post your whole team (incl bench) when you can and we'll see what we can fix up. Have you used your wildcard yet?
Another good round this week, continue to chip away at Ossie, but the man is holding strong. So painful to see Ifill deny Victory the 3 points, but the pain is eased somewhat when he is your captain!

nah i used my wildcard already. but are there still areas which i should be improvn? rate my team out of 10 then tell me some improvements then a new rating out of 10. and forget about fixtures, unless they have byes, let me worry about fixtures, unless its a really big factor of course :)

Sorry bud, work has been hectic. Had a chance to look over the team, and once I write it down, I like it a lot! You know you weak point is the fwds, but the rest is very balanced. What are you ranking these days?
I don't see a double trade costing 3 points as much of a risk. Especially with up to 4 teams with 2 games each round, keeping your squad current and maximising double point potential is easily worth 3 points a round.
Certainly agree with ditching Greenacre and Cazarine. You know this means they will both score this week :P, but you are thinking long term to fix a forward line reliant on the occasional brilliance of Williams (tho God knows what the keeper was thinking on Weds night for that long range strike).
I agree on Barbarouses, the boy is in great form and behind many of the good things the Roar are doing. Not so keen on Kruse (bear in mind I am a Victory man, and hard on our players. About to trade out Leijer, my last MVC, this week).
Looking at the draw for the next few rounds, Djite once agin looks attractive. Gold Coast have been ravaged by injury for the last month, and have done well under the circumstances. As Djite returns, with a game under his belt towards match fitness, plus Culina & Thwaite's return helping out, I suspect he will edge back to the great form his was in 3 weeks ago before injury.
I like Sydney's Bridge too - always goes on a good run once in form, but with a patchy playing schedule over the next 3 rounds, not a risk I am taking.
Handy to keep that buffer of 2.5 odd in the bank, doubly so as you have used your wildcard. Reckon about late Jan, many fanatsy teams will suffer badly as a few A League players depart for a month during the Asian Cup, and Victory and Sydney start their midweek Champions League campaigns a few weeks later.
Those with a bank or wildcard should prosper nicely during this period.

I am struggling with that choice myself. Only have Kalmar and Topor-Stanley with 2 games this week, leaning towards Top-Stan as double points are soooo hard to resist :)
Few stands out choices, but Barbarouses might be a go. Guarantee Roar v Victory tonight will not finish nil all, so the boy has a good chance of points again.

BTW, went with Kalmar as captain this week. With Skoko (groin I think for a few weeks) and Shroj (stupid clown has accumlated 8 yellow cards, so misses two weeks) out, he should get game time in a double game round, and praying he hits the taget (again!)
For those who don't follow the A League much, a few pointers. Yellow cards kill you - once you accumulate 5, you automatically miss a game. Another 3 (so 8 in total) costs you a 2 game ban. Not sure what happens beyond that, will try and find out.
As this season is 30% longer than any previous, I can't think of anyone else who reached the 'next stage'. Although Ross Aloisi should be facing life on 2 counts; his all star performance in the 2007 Final, and his commentary... ::)

It's a good squad, and like me, you are looking ahead and seeing a friendly run for Gold Coast (if they perform). Looks like it cost you a bundle in team value...
For those still holding wildcards, I'd suggest waiting for the team upheavel that will come with Asian Cup/Asian Champions League (ACL) in mid January and tweak accordingly.
Also, a hint for all people using widcards!
If you plan on using your wildcard (WC), remember one important point - do not trade out your whole team!!!
If you are looking at WC action, the temptation is to remove the whole team and re-build it. That will cost you badly. I have fallen for this before in the early years - you clear the team, and end up with players you already had, but because you have 'bought' them at their new value, you take a hammering.
Assess your weak points before hittiing any trade button. Keep those you want long term, and only trade those superfluous to a winning team.

It looks like BUY for Adelaide players with 5 games coming up. Talk Flores will be sold to an Asian club once the January transfer window opens, so be wary of him as a long term fix.
Reckon van Dijk will be a good buy, Fyfe is always popular but Galaekovic could be the best buy of the lot.
This takes us through to December 29th, so bear in mind:
The Asian Cup kicks off in January (would you believe it’s in Qatar, the home of world football). Our first game is Jan 10th, so allowing for training and travel, reckon we can wave goodbye to players like McKay, Thwaite, Culina, maybe Brosque from the New Year. There will be more talk in the next few weeks as the final squad is named, and that should give you a few rounds to ease out of any these if you are holding them.

McDonald has been named in the squad for NQF, and reckon he will make the cut. Vargas on the other hand is rumoured to be taking a 'rest' this week, and lined up with the 'seconds' during training this week. Might be worth switching those 2 with Macca having a double round, including a winnable game v Sydney.
I think Kalmar has nearly run his race. He might pinch a goal or two before the season is out, but with starting midfielders Shroj & Skoko returning, he could be back to picking splinters out of his arse.
*I must admit in a moment of stupidity, I annoited Kalmar (c) last round. A doubling of 4 points from 2 games was only more galling when I had Topor-Stanley (18) Culina (16) & Sigmund (11) up my sleeve. Stoooopid! >:(
Nikas (NQF) is a cheaper option - God bless him - and is playing regularly at the moment. With a touch of luck (or skill ;)), could have scored in last 3 games.
NQF also have a double next round, so no harm in grabbing a few cheapies. Think I am going with Djite for Capt this week. Could switch to Culina, unsure yet...

Had Partfaalu and Fowler on the pine but when Cassio hurt himself at training Thursday night I brought in Fowler for a three pronged strike attack and benched Cassio.
Coach Rini Coolen took a calculated risk with Cassio and it paid off >:( ;D, now hope Robbie Fowler slots a double.

Commiserations to all those with Culina as Capt this week. He will miss the mid week game, along with Robson and Caravella. Dodgy knee playing up again. They won't risk him for mid week games, and will dose him up on pain killers to get through the Asian Cup.
Look at trading him out over the next fortnight. Flores, Brown and Broich all appeal as goal scoring midfielders (though Flores may be gone come January transfer window).
Luigi, consider trading Vargas. After a god defensive performance in the derby, Victory have proved that while they had much success over the years with a back 3, we look better with 4 now, genuine speed and width from Kemp and Sukha gave a much better balance.
They won't drop Leijer, and Muscat is still King while he can walk, so Vargas might struggle for game time over the next few weeks.
Is it worth trading Vargo out for another Melbourne Vic defender, e.g. Kemp, Leijer, Muscat? or should i get a GCU defender like Traore or Djulbic, which one of GCU?
and either way i will have like 5.0 in the bank, ... Williams to Kruse?

If you are already a little 'Red Heavy', CCM have a double next round so take a pick from their defenders. I think you have missed the boat timing wise on GC defenders.
Williams to Kruse looks good, but I'd be tempted to wait another week as NQF have a double again next round. I only say this if you are already using trades down back, but a handy swap in any case.
Took the risk and went Djite for Capt over Culina. Unless he does something good v Newcastle, he will still finish with a lower score than Culina's one game effort (and certainly with less quality in the middle of the park to supply him)... :(

except for Supercoach, this was my first year for any other fantasy game so i made a team, then as planned, found out it was terribel then used to my wildcard after avid researching, then bang, almost all better..

BlueStorm has finally got his showere together, and using his beer-soaked brain for good (for a change...)
After bagging Kruse a few weeks ago, I will be sucumbing this week and getting the lad. Things won't be so easy for him with Archie missing up to 4 games with hamstring, but Victory are back in gear and he will be the focal point. Goodbye to Djite - useless goat did nothing, but having a game cancelled didn't help.
If you are determined to do 2 trades Luigi, I'd think about Theo to Galekovic. He should get called up to Asian Cup (as 3rd keeper behind Schwarzer and Federici) and miss most of January. BUT, reckon he will score at least 3 points (cost of extra trade) over Niceski this round.
Will finally get Fat Cat (Hernandez) on board next week, before Victory's double round. Hopefully that gives him plenty of time to rest up, get his (ample) weight off the ankle and be good to go.
For those with him, relax- he is meant to play this round, but not expecting anything nimble. Hell - who are we kidding, it's Fat Cat! I don't expect him to break a sweat, but he could well still score ;)

Haven't heard exact dates on Asian Cup yet. I'd expect the initial squad of 50 to be trimmed to 23 (I think) in about a week's time. Again, working from memory, but our 1st game is Jan 10th, and you would think they will have a good week together before it all starts.
Just meant that Djite did very little in his last 3.2 performances, and disappointed me badly. With Gold Coast likely to lose Culina & Thwaite to Asian cup, can't see Call-Me-Bruce starring on the Coast.
I went Djite to Kruse too, Fyfe remains captain - just so you all can steer clear of Fyfe, with my kiss of death and all.

I know you like Theo but what about Petkovic and double up? Brisbane does have a round coming (23 I think?) where they don't play and you have Smith, Broich and Barboureses already - it's going to tough to cover all them unless you unload one or two over the next couple of weeks.
I've gone Galeckovic to Brighitti (brought on Petkovic to start) and bought in Hernandez (in a tough decision) for Cassio.
Just so you can avoid the temptation to put the C on Hernandez this week, I've put the kiss of death on the big pie eater this week for the double.

And probably come round 24 when Brisbane have a bye, i'll ship Theo off to Petcovic who will have a double 2 weeks in a row, then they have a a bye the following so i can hope Necevski starts or bring in someone else for the remaining 2 weeks of the home and away season...

I went Pantelis to McGlinchey myself just a little while back when he slowed in form and think it would be a good idea to move on him.
However if you do go Theo for Petkovic this week and make some money you could take the three point hit by also going Corthwaite to Wilkinson who has the doubles in rnd 22 and rnd 23.
Then set your team with 4 defenders ;)
1.) Im thinking of doing yet another double trade this week:

Broich back this week, Milicevic (New) has walked out on the club and won't play again (strange cat that one). Baird has transferred from Perth to CCM, Allsop a chance to start for Victory this week, Sydney's Finnish beanpole striker prob off the bench again, and Adelaide have 2 new players - Uruguyuan Usucar and Dutch Slory - no idea on how either will perform, or game time they will get.
Looking at 8 players with doubles this week. Time to munch my way up the overall rankings... ;)
OK, just summarising the schedule from above for each team to help with shopping (split in to two groups - those that are any good, and those that are crap!):

Looking at that, the teams you want to job on board - Central Coast, Gold Coast & Newcastle all have 3 double and no byes over the next 5 rounds. Very attractive... ;)
Looking at good options to pick up (a few of these guys are almost must haves, so every chance they are already in your squad), I'd avoid any strikers from Newcastle (if they have any :P) as these guys would struggle to get a root in a brothel!
Central Coast - Ryan (now Necevski has lost favour in Syd, the best cheap keeper), Rose, Perez and Simon - even tho I hate him so very, very much, will be picking him up this week to replace Van Dijk (they have a woeful record vs Victory, and a bye the following week.) Kwasnik is suspended this week, so don't go grabbing that donkey...
Gold Coast - Moss (as your expensive keeper), Djulbic is having a great season and scoring the odd goal, and Djite - basically included him through lack of options, but yet to be convinced he can lead the line without help from Culina etc...
Newcastle - Ummmm...OK, it's not that bad, but this team tends to fall apart at least once each season, and their injury list makes for depressing reading. Topor-Stanley is having a season worthy of Socceroos inclusion down the track, Zadkovich looks to be improving and cheapish at 4.9, and Jesic a bargain rate of 2.3 if you need to save some coin. Bear in mind I don't recommend getting him, but might help you strengthen other areas.
OK, that should do if for this week. Happy trading, and let's stop the gradual slide of our league. Top 50 is still very achievable, and would be a great effort with so many first time players. ;D

OK, Hernandez looks a keeper for the rest of the season, McGlinchey & Paartalu have been clever, rewarding picks, and Kalmar worth persisting with as Heart have a double next round.
So Culina to... Options include:
# 1 - Broich. Yes, jumping on a bandwagon, but he is class, and got a double this week. Not cheap, but you have the coin.
# 2 - Brown (Well). Love this lad, had him for weeks now, and he is playing very forward in the absence of Ifill. Not a great week to grab him fixture wise, but one for the radar (have double in 5 rounds). Has a great knack of grabbing goals.
# 3 - Nichols. Pretty cheap at 6.5, but certain for lots of game time in the absence of McKay for (hopefully) the next month. Gets forward a lot, and sure to grab some goals/assists over the next few week, plus a double game this round.
I think Broich is the safest bet, but if you are looking to save coin for future trades, could do at lot worse than Nichols. With 4.8 in bank after trade, could look at ditching Kalmar in 2 weeks time. He has done well this season, but he (and the Heart) are getting tired and don't expect much from them for the rest of the season.
Looking at the rest of midfielders, can honestly say none of them excite me. One of the problems with A League Fanasty is the limited scope to make your team different, and have success. Especially towards the end of the season, you will find most of the top teams have at least 6 players in common, a mix of big names like Flores, Hernandez (Fat Cat) and the value stars for the season - like Rose, Barbarouses & Ryan.
In AL, we have approx 264 people to choose from over a season (incl injury replacements). Only 121 get a start each week, and once you knock our injured players, reserve keepers who never get a gig, plus national team withdrawals over 3 age groups, there is a very limited pool of talent to pick from.
Compare to PL, where there are approx 500 players in squads, and 220 starting each week. Suddenly there are many more viable transfer targets each week, and certainly harder to keep informed about that many players. I do my best AL wise each week for updates, but realise I would need hours to stay on top PL wise, but greater reward for those that can find a 'unique' or two for a rankings boost.
The other major problem with AL Fantasy is there is no way of checking a player's game stats - minutes played, yellow cards accumulated etc. All this info is readily available in PL Fantasy, and vital when looking at a new prospect. I know you can see a points and transfer history, but that is of little help when you are about to trade in a player one game from suspension for example.
Safe to say I don't offer any of these thoughts to my mates in my other league, who have been going for a few years now, and rivalry and sledging is cut throat ;)

I have McDonald too, and starting him this week. He is playing as a forward/winger these days, is a good crosser of the ball, and taking advantage of as many double points as I can.
Admittedly, I am a Victory man, but would consider benching Fyfe for him as I can't see the Reds keeping a clean sheet this week. Also recommended benching Fowler to a mate of mine - he will be handy in weeks to come, but hard to see him troubling the scorers this week (just watch him go now ;D)
Have gone with Barbarouses as El Capitano this week. Reckon he will be a popular choice, but in a rich vein of form, and hoping for good things from him tonight.

Thoughts & Reports
* Expect Shane Smeltz to come to terms with Gold Coast, and once again be their striker from next week. (For those not familiar with his work, Smeltz won the Golden Boot for top striker last season, and early season was switched for Djite from Turkish club Glenbri - ahh, bugger it, can't spell any Turkish clubs ;))
He only played 4 games over there, so might take him a few matches to get back fitness, but expect to see his name in most of the top teams over the next month. Will also make Gold Coast much more potent come finals time with Culina supplying a decent front two. They also have a German midfielder from the Bundesliga expected to join them next week.
* Be wary of grabbing any NQF players. Heard last night they have instituted a rotation policy for the last 7 games, and starting last night, gave Pasfield (1st choice keeper) and Edds the night off to have a better look at the youth on their books. Not only does it make any NQF players a risky proposition for game time, it also makes for a disjointed team. They were a rabble for most of last night, and performances like that make it hard to accumulate any points.
* After talk Brosque would be out for the rest of the season, largely resting his groin to be right for the Bling's ACL campaign, it now appears he will be back in the squad next week. Back to back wins, for the first time this season, suddenly has revived (futile) finals hopes, and Brosque wants to be part of it.
Sydney this year remind me a lot of Adelaide last season. Had a woeful league record for much of the season, but started improving towards the tail end, and performed fabulously in the ACL. As a few new signings come on board, and the pressure eased on the coach, can see them going (relatively) well for the run home.
* Under the "Nothing Ventured, Nothing Gained" file - Newcastle (yes, the Aussie one) are trying to sign Michael Owen for next season. He's had little game time at Man U this season, and hard to see him playing another year of top flight football. He will go somewhere, and good on Newcastle for having a crack. Wish 'em luck, but not holding my breath...
OK, that's it for Sunday morning ramblings. Off to the rubbidity-dub in a few hours, then to AAMI Park to watch Allsopp and Fat Cat tear the Reds a new one ;)

Rooster, not sure if you have this right. Tonight's game is still going ahead (Barbie Capitano still a chance to pay off ;)). It is the game next Sunday (next game round) that is being postponed.
Should mean another double game round for the Roar down the track, but will do the homework in a week or so and let you know. Think the game is slated for Aussie Day 26th. Victory playing NQF that night, so imgine it will be an arvo game that day.

Some nice scoring last round, but this week is shaping up very ugly. Like most, will have many holes in the team with Bris v Well postponed, and the Reds with a bye.
No games for Broich, Solarzano & Barbie (Bris), Flores (Adel) + Sigmund & Brown (Well). Add the 2 NQF players (Nikas & McDonald) who face Gold Coast away and seem to be going backwards, and this has disaster written all over it.
Don't be afraid to to a few trades at a price this week - there will be many with pitiful scores, and spending 6 points could propel you up the rankings.
Will post tonight with some thoughts and recommendations for others in the same boat, after checking the repercussions of the delayed game too.
Rooster - Barbie did 'OK' as El Capitano, certainly better than many weeks when the Gumby I have entrusted with the role returns 2 points!

Would not surprise if many don't have 11 on the park this week. If you are trading (particularly players with doubles on the horizons), check out the selling price compared to what you paid.
Selling a player like Flores (presuming you have had him for a while) will screw you on his value, and cost a bundle to buy back. Offloading a Solarzano will cost you little, and can buy back for the same price later if you want.

Both have doubles and look the best chance to cover some potential doughnuts this week. I don't recommend Fowler - fine if you have him in already, but risky to bring him in. With a midweek game and away clash v Wellington in 2 weeks, he will struggle for much game time.

On 50 points now that A-League Fantasy Foxsports have finally updated...
The picture made an appearance last season when I openly declared that if one particular week Johhno Brown was to fall under 300k value in DT then I'd shave my head completely.
HP responded "I'd like to see that" and I posted in return that the pic I put up of the plucked rooster would become my DP also.
Browny did fall under 300k, but not that particular week ;)

I'd swear sometimes that A League Fantasy scores are entered by just the one person - if he is on a bender or suffering from a big Friday night, he doesn't do the scores. Tends to happen about 3 weeks a year, and seemed to finally kick in about 9pm last night.

Who did you have - Simon? I did, and was thankful he scored, but he should have taken the match ball for a hat-trick. Only the selfishness of his strike 'partners' (Kwasnik, then Baird) prevented it.
Hopefully Graham Arnold has given them both a bake, and we shall see Simon bang in a couple v Perth on Wednesday.
And any news on Leckie? Last I heard, he was meant to be back in the line up about now, but they still list him as at least 2 weeks on injury sheets. He would be a massive boost to the Reds heading into the finals, and a handy pick up Fantasy wise if he still has the speed and touch of early season.
Sport news is beginning to be dominated here by pre season AFL footy talk. I will ring my mate at Bianco's tomorrow and see how he's progressing - remind me ;)

It's disappointing. I know the Reds haven't been on fire for the last 6 weeks, but after breaking the Victory hoodoo and becoming certanties to make finals after what was a largely poor domestic season last year, I would hoped the media were jumping on board :o
Yeah it's sad, but the biggest news was when Nick extracted the coin and also when we made the Asian Champions League. That brought so much exposure to our little 'backwater' and was fantastic at the time.
Adelaide is a town that has a massive tall poppy syndrome and most media haven't reaaaaaalllly embraced their successess because they can still remember the devastation of the 6-0 loss in the GF to Victory all those years ago. (an expensive night for me ::))
If we make the GF then there will be an interest but probably as a second story behind say Taylor Walker's mum's ex partners recently de sexed cat and how it purrs to the beat of 'Eye of the Tiger' :P

Looking at the upcoming schedule, Victory look tasty with 2 doubles in the next 2 rounds. Before you load up, take note: this is followed with a bye for them (the mega week when 6 teams have doubles) so don't over committ.
Smeltz is currently at 11.4. If you want him, grab him now as he is sure to steadily climb as people jump on board.
If you have DeVere from Brisbane, trade him. Has signed for a Korean club and likely to walk out in the very near future.
I am all for Aust developing players and selling them overseas to gain experience and help the Socceroos both in a World & Asian sphere, but it is sad to see players like Devere leaving when he is 5 weeks away from a Premiership Plate with a finals series to follow.
Look at Adelaide players this week. OK, they only have one game this week, but it is a home game v NQF, who are leaking like busted seive. Expect good things ;) They have a double next week too, so planning for the future.

Sigmund is a good cheap option, only dumped him last week. I have decided Broich is worth taking a risk and dumping. They have no doubles left, and wouldn't be surprised if his troublesome groin is rested for a week or two now the title is wrapped up.
Wellington might have a double this week, but Brisbane away for the second game doesn't hold the promise of many points, particularly for a defender like Sigmund. I like Brown though. Perth go on the world's longest road trip in domestic football for the first game, and after 2 red cards last week, should be ripe for the picking, and Brown is that sort of player.

Staggered that only 26% of teams have Flores. What a masterclass, 3 goals (incl 2 rare headers), another two assists, and stripped the ball many times in the midfield.
That sets a new record for individual fantasy score points - Archie held the record with 22 with his 5 goal effort in the Season 2 final, but Flores has the new mark at 23.

We had just over 10k last night I think and like I've said before the atmosphere with only 10 to 15k can more often than not be more intense than 40+ at AAMI watching the Crows where alot of supporters sit politely and cheer occasionally.

Nope, he has Fat Cat as Captain, and no Flores on his team, so already dropping points to me this week.
Two sets of rabid fans at either end of Etihad, with pockets of support along both sides and perfect weather should make for a cracker tonight. Bragging rights, and possibly a finals spot, will be decided tonight.

Well that just sucked :'( Should have led 3-0 at half time, but as usual, defensive lapses cost us badly. Second half was painful to watch - suggested Muscat was good for another red card (stoopid fool!) and to be honest, surprised we didn't lose 4-2. Was rare to be over halfway, and then only to turn it over.
Thank God Allsopp scored, reckon he could be good for 3 vs NQF on Wednesday (I said they were a rabble, love you long time Nikas ;))

The Gov is a pub on Port Rd we go to beforehand and sometimes after. It is also an amazing live band venue.
No frivolity tonight however, we were all so sapped from the heat. I can't believe how the Mariners kept that intensity up for so long, the drinks break about 25?mins in the first half was a good idea.
Our drinks breaks were a little more frequent ;)
That back half was horrible without Fyfe. In the silence after the first 10 mins we could hear clearly the players screaming at each other 'your area, your player, get on Rose' lot's of finger pointing.

I'm proud of getting on board Kruse and Allsopp early just before they started getting into form. Wish I could say the same about Smeltzy, had Djite at the start of the season when he was injury prone instead. I've also been foolishly distracted by double game weeks having players like Payne and Williams in the side at one stage.
Haven't had Hernandez for the first time this season as I've found all the value in defence. This weeks trade was forced Luke Devere to Rose, so I'm glad Rose scored a goal tonight!

Issues: What to do about;Returning Socceroos - presuming McKay hasn't been signed to Krakow Krusaders before the transfer window shuts, he, along with Kruse return to A League ranks in the next few days. Surely they will rest this mid week (Kruse), but keep them on your radar next week.
Victory - Fat Cat (Harnandez) is always a popular pick, Allsopp has attracted many transfers, and Petkovic is an ideal mid price keeper. Do you trade these players allowing for the Victory bye, do you have cover?
Rumours - Bas van de Brink may have played his last game for GC, looking for a European transfer. Victory looking at signing Velaphi next season (he'd want to improve rapidly >:() Looks like Fowler will re-sign with Glory for another season. Must be a glutton for punishment...

Capt Fantasy - thanks for the heads up about the postponement. Wasn't easy to find news of that, so much appreciated. Thankfully have no Brisbane players, and not using my NQF guys anyway.
Very hard to tell when the game will be played. As next weekend is the last week of the regular season, and both teams already have a game then, thinking it will be either Thursday night next week (already 2 games Wed, and only 1 on Thursday). Can't play the same time as any other game due to agreement with Fox Sports to show every game live. Guessing still be part of this game round then, but no one will know for sure until the announcement is made.
You could always bench Allsopp & Smith for Moriaysu and Wilkinson, who will both play 2 games, then just trade Broich perhaps?
Luigi, I don't think that double is a bad move, particularly with the uncertainty surrounding when Brisbane will actually play. You would be swapping one certain start for 4, and that can't be a bad thing...

Had the volume down for most of matches this week Luigi.
I suspect Simon was largely rested for the mid week game they have coming up. With treacherous conditions in Melb last Friday night, the game was lucky to go ahead. CCM obviously saw little benefit in risking Simon for second half.
Petratos - missed the fact he was subbed off in the 1st half, but knew I was in trouble when I couldn't see him in the second half. Had taped the game, so went back and had a look tonight. He copped a tackle from Elrich that had him feeling ginger with a bung ankle about midway through the 1st half, and was subbed before half time. Praying that was a preventative move to ensure he can play on Wed night.
Safe to say making him Captain was a capital FAIL, particularly when I was thinking of the safe Smeltz option :'(
Solarzano and Murdocca to miss tomorrow night, but McKay back in. He would be a tasy pick-up comes finals...

Hernandez will play, but prob only about 15-20min off the bench. In saying that, every chance he will score the winning goal with a trademark free kick, but wouldn't bet the house on it.
I suspect Kruse will get more game time in the finals, but really a line ball call. Victory's forward line could well vary for each match depending on who they are playing (if they lose week 1, they are out anyway).
Wellington players a good choice for Capt playing the woeful Fury in NZ, but not many of their players have been popular. Be wary of selecting any CCM as Capt - if by some fluke NQF get a result v Well, Newcastle will be gunning for the last finals spot and will throw the kitchen sink at CCM.
Capt choice will just be a matter of luck this week, all in the same boat

Pretty happy with my haul this week, late Rose to Perez winner was gold, but tipping I ain't Robinson Cruso there.
Van Dijk & Simon missing hurt somes teams, but those who didn't use 6 trades to fill their squad with regular starters deserve the result.
Now stand by for the big fight this week - whether Gold Coast deservedly hold their home final at home, or whether the FFA deem Skilled Stadium 'unsuitable' (read crap) and transfer the match to Melbourne. That would be a tasty twist, and would have Victory starting favorites.

OK, thinking about trades this week. Only about to start shopping myself, but a few things to consider while assessing your options:
When to trade - Anyone who has been burnt fantasy wise by trading in players only to find out Friday arvo they are a withdrawal, plays with caution and leaves his trades as late as possible. it's a fine theory, and one I subscribe to. The problem is a player's value changes depending on his popularity.
More than once this season I have had my trading plans foiled when i fall .1 short due to changing values >:( Unlike SC, the value changes in 'real time'. Flores 8 on Tuesday, 8.2 by Friday for example.
If you are cutting it fine with the finances, bear this in mind and consider locking in your trades now!
Who to trade - 2 schools of thought; pick a wide spread and hope for a consistent effort, or try and pick the 3 winners from this week and load up. I tend to take the second option. With a smaller pool of players to choose from, many teams will share 60-80% of players, so you need a big score, preferrably from a unique like Paartalu ;) to make any ground at this stage of the season.
For what it's worth, thinking Adelaide 2-0 or 3-1, a tight game between GC and Victory, flip a coin, and expect Central Coast to give Brisbane a real fight this week in Gosford. I know that doesn't help you this week, but put your balls on the line and pick some winners ;)

Luigi - I'd be inclined to take Dodd over Cassio. With his pace, and playing up front, a much better chance of goal points than the Fat Calculator (Cassio).
Why are you thinking Stefanutto to Sigmund? If it is because you are .1 short of doing it all without him, I'd suggest leaving the Moss trade off instead. Reckon Ryan will be super this week, but need a decent option next week when CCM head to Suncorp.

I am leaning towards Dodd or van Dijk for (C). OK, I am only guessing, but thinking the Bris-CCM match might be a dull affair. The Roar know they will be hosting the final barring a major miracle, and might just settle for even a draw. I know it is not their style, and they are every chance of going ballistic and nailing 4-5, but that is what I am thinking.
Only 4 goals in 3 games last week. Aside from Victory mauling the Reds in Season 2 (sorry Rooster), there are few goals scored in finals. All about picking the man who nails that precious goal.

Say you've held Broich for most of the season, you've made a nice profit. Once you sell, you lose half that profit, then have to pay market price to grab him back for the Grand Final.
If you have plenty of spare cash, not a concern, and after ditching van Dijk & Flores, most of us should be sitting on a tidy sum.
I am holding Franjic from Victory, and have no intention of trading him. Only cost 1.8, and you really shouldn't be needing your 2nd and 3rd reserves in these final two games.

I have no problem with Ryan keeping this week. The option is the more expensive Moss, but since I am keeping Theo on the bench this week, happy to go with Ryan. I think Central Coast have proved themselves a better team over the season, and Gold Coast has been excelling each time they play - history tells us that can only go for so long.

I should keep a hold of top 20 for the teams that started in Rnd5 and have you to thank for it. Your quality of input was only possible from someone who obviously knows the game inside and out and has a genuine passion for the world game.

I just like talking A League, and watch 90% of all games each week. I will gladly admit to being one of the original A League Fantasy tragics, after being indoctrinated via the superb EPL Fantasy comp. Once you can watch the games (I do love you FoxSports - well only the HD channels :), but the sport really needs a free-to-air deal to engage the public), you can quickly pick out the bargains, and see who is knocking up assists - quite hard to find in general media.
BTW, presume you have heard Cornthwaite has left, joining the exodus of tall (mainly Adelaide) defenders to Sth Korea. Has signed a 2 year deal with Chunnam Dragons. With Rini Coolen signing for another few years, I would be happy knowing he will guide the rebuild, particularly if you can retain class like van Dijk & Flores.
Reid is confirmed gone, Dodd has left to join Perth. Who could be scary good next year with Vuckovic, Fowler for another 2 seasons, Dodd, and a major crack at Smeltz too - but we say that each off season about the Glory, then fall about pissing ourselves when they crumble after Round 5...
I am already looking forward to gathering us all up for another crack next season. With the start of next season pushed back to avoid AFL, that will give us plenty of time to plan, read up on practice match reports, and hit the ground running! A good start gives you that leg up for the rest of the season as your team value balloons while others chase the value.

Thoughts:
Really wrestled between Theo & Ryan in goal. I suspect Ryan will have more saves to make, but more vulnerable against a Roar river to goal.
Strikers are tough. In the end I went with the only 3 that should start this week. If you, like me, suspect Brisbane will cap off a fine season, then a few striking spots for CCM is the least painful spot to put them.
For all of Roar's dominance this season, it has been driven by the midfield trio of Broich, McKay & Nichols.

im not rely in this but r any of uses takin a risk say put in all players from 1 team huge reward but huge risk
well u can't actually. u can go half half i think but not all from one team.
but you could have your keeper, starting mids and starting strikers all from the same team then the reserves and defenders all the other i think would work aswell i think.
i've got 8 BRIS and 7 CCM

On a dodgy reception just outside Bristol in UK, so quick reply for now. Was a fun season, and more than glad to help a few converts! Only went up 6 spots this week, think I finished 63rd, but spewing I missed what sounds like a cracking final. Hope to see y'all next season to do it again.

If you remember from my A League postings this last season, I go to the matches with a Kiwi mate of mine - and believe you me it will BE ON between the two of us >:(
What should I put on the line if we lose?
1. Speak with a Kiwi accent for a week
2. Wear a Wellington jersey to an A League match at Hindmarsh
3. Perform a haka in the front bar of The Governor Hindmarsh

Stupid bloody A League. How does Heart get two home games v Victory - again! The say the AFL draw is bad, but there is no rhyme or reason for the A League fixture...
How does that really matter BS when Victory and Heart play at the same ground?
Just means Victory will get another home game against another team which will more of an advantage for them
Wrong Crows Fan! Victory play all their 'big' games at Etihad (Adelaide, Sydney, Heart).
For those of us with reserved seats at AAMI Park, that means we get relegated to general admin at Etihad, a poor venue for soccer at best. As Victory have transferred another 3 games there this year (to make it 6 in total), we as members get boned.
I know why they do it - Victory have the sweetest tenancy deal of any sporting club at Etihad, so they can make more money hosting games there, even if low drawing. Doesn't make me happy though.
Also, if Heart have two home games, then us as Victory members have to pay to attend two of them. Since Heart had two home games last season, we should have the two this year. Might be minor, but shows they have little regard for fairness.
Ah ok I don't pay enough attention to the A league to notice that. I was just scrolling through the draw and saw that Victory seemed to be playing their home games at AAMI park.
Want to talk about not fair though? 2 years I have lived in Sydney now and 2 years in a row the Crows have not come to Sydney to play the Swans. Both years they have only played once a season and both times have been in Adelaide. Not fair for a Crows supporter living in Sydney haha

Exactly - the AFL draw is anything but, it really is a fixture, and same with A League. Everything is done with attendances and cash in mind. Mind you, the way both teams are going at the moment, you are probably lucky the Crows haven't come to town ;)
Anyone know when this starts? - and is anyone wanting to start up any type of League? (I reckon we had about 5/6 FF one's on the go last season)

I don't really mind who makes the league TBH, I will volunteer of no one else does :P However, the last BlueStorm was on, was July 15! :(

I have started a new thread for the fresh season, and have put in a few notes about player movement etc.
Think the site will open about 2 weeks before the season kicks off (which is Friday, October 7th).
There was talk the Victory-Sydney game would be moved forward to the Thursday night to open the season, but that looks unlikely now. It's a pity, as Emerton will certainly be in the Socceroos squad that weekend, but Harry should be suiting up for Victory (presuming he doesn't bruise a fingernail in the meantime :o)

The Newcastle Jets have terminated the contract of coach Branko Culina, effective immediately, as well commencing the process of applying to the FFA to have the contract of Jason Culina set aside.
The moves follow the injury to Jason, which effectively rules him out of playing for the Jets in the foreseeable future.
Jets’ Chief Executive Officer, Mr Robbie Middleby said, “The decision to terminate the contracts was made after a long deliberation by the Newcastle Jets’ Advisory Board.â€
“The Club believes that it is highly unlikely that Jason will return to the A-League in the near future, following medical advise,†he added.
The Club’s owner Mr Nathan Tinkler supports the position taken by the Jets’ management team.
“Jason’s injury could mean the Jets are without their marquee player for up to three seasons â€" not a good result for the club, supporters, sponsors and players,†Mr Tinkler said.
“While I acknowledge the difficult timing of this announcement, I am confident in the character of the Jets’ players and staff who will quickly put this matter behind them and enjoy a great season,†he concluded.
With the season just four days away, the players remain focused on the task that is Melbourne Heart this weekend.
“We thank Branko for his contribution to the Club and wish him all the best for the future,†captain Jobe Wheelhouse said.
“We are professional footballers and after our long pre-season it is important we remained focused on Saturday’s game.
“When faced with this type of adversity it can often spur players and the team on to greater performances.
“We are hopeful for a big turn out at Ausgrid Stadium, and our Members and can be assured that we will do Newcastle proud.â€
