So the above is the rookie draft pool of all leftovers and should be pretty much up to date following the AFL trade period. Players will be removed from the the above if they're delisted. If you notice any mistakes or player that shouldn't be there, just let me know. Also, all the 'top up players' have been returned to the rookie pool as was agreed upon at the start of the season.
The order is fully updated for trades. this draft is a while away as it is after all delistings, which takes place after the national draft.

Lets get this going?!
Check out the discussion thread. At minimum it will be a week plus away. Trading important with loads of dpp movements
I'll use my morning to update this thread since I haven't got much else to do.
Edit: The posts with available players should be up to date. Will have to update them again before the draft once Euros teams have delisted.
Since Holz is overseas, I'll be happy to take over this and try to keep it updated (once or twice a day when I get onto a computer). It is also might get the comp back up and going with the fantasy games opening up shortly!
I'll say we can officially start on the 27th of January, so gives everybody a few days to finalise their lists and spots, maybe trade for picks and whatnot. This will be the first draft where you can trade picks/players mid-draft I assume since we've never actually had a trade period besides for DPP changes, but we also can't leave this draft until too late.
HP, any chance we can make it the 28th instead? A lot of people might want to spend Australia Day Public Holiday not doing FanFooty stuff, and then Friday we can finalise lists for a weekend start? (Actually, people might be taking a long weekend and going away so I'm not even sure if this weekend is great...)
I'm cool with that. If people want to take picks earlier they are welcome to but I won't enforce a tight picking schedule/autopicks for a week or so as it is a short notice start, so will give people time to prep for sure.
The 30th might be good (Monday of the following week).
Just relies on people taking their picks quickly and being active (which is a serious issue at time in this comp).
Think Holz wants to delay this to next week after delistings are finalised!
I'm happy to postpone, at least now we got the ball rolling again for the draft ;).
So when is this starting/ when do we need to have our delistings done by? Im confused now

Just an update on this guys.
Plan is to start the rookie draft tomorrow at 9am, with the aim to finish it up in a week. Very possible if everyone commits to being active and taking their picks.
To speed up the process, it'd be fantastic if each coach could work out what picks they're planning to take, and which they're planning to pass in order to speed up the process.
Nige will be updating the position thread and your own records should make it pretty clear how many spots you have available on your list.
Once this is sorted, if you could let us know what you're taking/passing I'll be able to update the OP :)
Cheers guys!
We have 36 on our list so will be using four picks: 1, 5, 15, 21
Thanks LH!
The Player Pool is nearly fully updated. Some of the delisted players might not be on AFL lists anymore (went from memory) so give us a shout if you see someone who shouldn't be there!

Also, if people don't respond to this thread, just check Nige's Team List thread and work out which picks people are taking. E.g. If someone has 38 on their list, they're using their first two picks and passing the rest. If someone has 40 on their list, they're skipping all their picks. Etc.

Will do, but not until the thread is 100% updated. Still some minor errors on there throwing out the list numbers.
thanks Ele,
im taking all my picks.
8, 28, 42, 56, 70 as i have 5 spots to fill.

Empahsis on the nearly ;) Cheers mate!
I think Holz and Nige have covered the leftover player pool (seems to be a lot of players there though but I suppose the more the merrier. Better to have double listings than miss out players completely!

i reckon i have a heap of retired players too. just quickly added the list im sure nige is far more on top of it then i was.
Svalbard will be taking 9, 23, 37 :)
Spain would like to un-delist Ty Vickery, and will only use its first pick (4) in the Rookie
Thanks to ele for his work on this thread, keep giving us updates on which picks you're using and passing. I'll update the team list thread later tonight.
Wolves using all 9 picks, thanks.
So... do I take my first pick at 9am or do people still need to finalise lists?

I'll wait to hear. Someone PM me and nas when we've decided to start. He knows our first pick too and I'm at work so might not be able to get on.
Im making the call, everyone has 40 on their list or under.
lets start this thing.
If anyone desperately needs to delist anyone PM me but that wont affect this draft.
With our first pick, the Belarus Bison select Josh Smith from the Collingwood Football Club.
Will PM next.
Please PM nas too for our next pick as I'll probably be offline and he can get me on Facebook (or just get me on Facebook if you have me).
Pick 2:
Archie Smith!
The Wolves have now locked in our ruck succession plan (we have Stef Martin as our #1).
Bashers have been alerted.

We're definitely expecting this kid to do great things one day, already shown he can find lots of the pill!
Ed Langdon
ele, did you PM Spinking?
Actually, looks like he hasn't been online since last night. :(
Yep I've messaged him mate. Hopefully he jumps on some time today and we can smash through another 30 picks (easy considering Scrads has 28 of them :P)
is there anyone who has no picks? Or finishes super early?
(And is very active/ willing to help out a lottt), because if so people could PM them in advance?

Hahaha don't you worry, I'll be around regularly ;)
The Stallions select Rupert Wills
That is our last pick for the draft ;)
Will notify next in line.
The Bison pick young gun Kade Stewart.
Will PM next.
Each of the first 5 players taken in the draft have been Euro leftovers!

Nice pick. I'm spewing this draft has started so late as we usually get it done before the pre-season games start. Probably would have been able to grab him with my 12, 13, 14 bundle otherwise :P

He was on our very short list along with Josh Smith, Rupert Wills, Archie Smith, Ed Langdon, and a couple of others that haven't been picked yet. I had a 12 person list all up before the JLT started and all 5 picks so far have been from it (4 of the 5 were in my top 5 too!). Makes me a bit worried about my other two picks... :-\

Got alot of guys ahead of this guy but i need him and i doubt he slips to 28.
Braydon Preuss
The goldy back up.
Just something before we get to that pick, according to the team lists thread Serbia has 40 players on their list and so I am guessing they won't be using pick 11 just thought I'd mention it because that just gives Scrads 4 picks together.

Just something before we get to that pick, according to the team lists thread Serbia has 40 players on their list and so I am guessing they won't be using pick 11 just thought I'd mention it because that just gives Scrads 4 picks together.
I think they delisted Cox so they could take 1 pick in the draft :)
Cool thanks wasn't sure on that one
Unless I'm looking in the wrong place I can't find any mention of Cox being delisted.

Oh ok maybe he doesn't have a pick then
Also just noticed that Spain undelisted Vickery and he is still listed in the available players list, just so people know not to pick him

Might have changed his mind and deleted but I definitely read that Cedric Cox was delisted so they could take a pick?
Okay maybe I'm imagining things, sorry for the confusion! I'm happy to wait for Nrich for confirmation anyway :) he's usually pretty active.
We'll go Ruggles
Coming into his prime footballing age, so can't see him going backwards.
Sorry Guys, Year 12 is showering on me atm.
I didn't delist Cox so will sit out this draft. :)

Be kind to the rest of us haha :P
Nic Newman - taking a punt here that this guy gets some games and has the capacity to score well.
Tom Papley - injured early, but I think he has the potential to be a solid forward option for years to come.
Aaron Black - surely going to replace Kersten in a forward role for the Cats.
Rory Atkins - improved nicely in his 2nd year, could take another step this year. Welcome back to the Wolves after being a top-up for us last year.
Wrap her up boys, Scrads just cleaned up. :P

Sorry guys. About to pick now. Was in bed when by the time it was my go :P
At the risk of upsetting ele, we pick Reilly O'Brien. The moment Jacobs retires or, heaven forbid, gets injured, our ruck depth is amazing!
I'll message LF but she's at work so might not be able to pick. I'll ask her if I can pick for her as her next two picks are before mine so a 3 player depth chart won't stuff things up.

Nice pick! Had I not got myself Archie Smith earlier I probably would have grabbed him as he was in contention for my bundle just then.

Was tossing up between him and one other guy. If that other guy lasts through LF's and ele's picks, I'll be a happy chappy.
Because we don't have a backup ruck and had planned to grab one anyway and now really need one with Roughie out for a few weeks
Croatia picks Roughies team mate Tom Campbell
LF's let me know her next pick so I can help her out if she can't get online after ele's pick
A defender that dropped 4 scores of 80+ in his first 8 games. I've seen enough to suspect this guy definitely has a fantasy scoring future, and I can't wait for him to do a Pittard and shed one of his last names the year before he goes premo ;)

Haha I am no fool!
Fairly surprised this bloke lasted to us here! Coming off an ACL, about 12 months ago I would have had him top 3 in the rookie draft. I've cooled on him a lot lately although I would have rated him inside my top 10 (depending on needs).
Step up, a good WA boy, Jackson Ramsay!
Will give the OP a good update and have messaged Zip.
OP should be right up to date, have included all the passes I have been made aware of so we should be able to race through a few picks today

I
wrongly assumed that ele was going to take a ruck and would take O'Brien with his pick because he already had Jacobs. I thought I'd better take O'Brien with that pick and then DBJ if he slips through with ele and LF both needing rucks. Looks like I was wrong.
We'll go Wilson
Same reason as Ruggles really, provides that defensive depth, a player about to hit his prime etc.

I figured 15-20 was the range that ROB would go. I'll admit I was slightly disappointed he didn't get the chance to slide, but I just couldn't say not to DBJ and 18 and Rambo at 22!

This is why in future we should pump out the rookie draft and have a 1 week trade window post-draft ;)

i was just about to say i absolutely love having the draft close to the season and was thinking we go even later next year. People are getting some serious value now rather then just taking stabs in the dark. If we drafted 2 weeks ago i would have taken DBJ pick 8.
being close to the season ill be able to pick up a decent defender.
No surprise with the defenders getting picked up,look at the team lists and see how many teams needed defenders, this is why we grabbed Dea with our first pick so we could get our ruck backup along with another mid with later picks, could see a lot of defenders going in these rounds

Haha, instead I'm getting some serious value in DBJ at 18 ;) People letting him slide cos Port haven't played a JLT match yet.
I don't really mind when we do it, but the absolute key is that
THIS MUST BE DECIDED IN THE POST-SEASON IN OCTOBER!!! Some teams are put at a significant disadvantage by having some JLT matches played and others not played. Plus this entirely changes the value of some rookie picks (for better and worse) therefore it is critical that everyone is on the same page from the beginning of the trade window.

I've strayed from my original plan based on picking the best players available in my opinion. Just a happy accident that these were defenders, but the Euro rookie has a history of solid defenders popping up!

Agree and apologies for the stuff up. Ill put it to vote after the draft finishes for next year.
I think we just need to do the draft once we know new positions for the year,as soon as we know do the draft
Lets get going team, so keen to knock my picks out haha
Just heard from HP, he's just landed back in Melbs and has said he'll check in tonight
Yep I've been on a work trip past few days so only got home today. I was going to grab Ramsey until somebody else snatched him :'(.
EDIT: THIS PICK WAS TRADED TO BELARUS
Nevermind, i do have the pick but saw wrong trade haha. Aaron Young still coming down then passing the rest.

Generally, I believe they prefer if both are pm'd, I know they've made that request in other comps. nost hasn't been on for a few days whereas Rids was on this morning so I guess it makes sense.

So here's my issue. It's been over 24 hours since a pick was last made. Sure, there was a debacle surrounding the fact that the more inactive member of the dynamic duo was PM'd over the more active one, but there has to be a point where the call is made to get on with it. This draft started late enough as it is, and from a personal perspective as someone with late picks, every moment that passes it putting me at further disadvantage because of the poor administration, lack of planning and general inactivity in this competition. The JLT series is well underway and I daresay a number of the players picked so far wouldn't have been touched or gone as early as they did had this started before it began.
I'm not trying to be rude or offensive, simply providing a blunt opinion on the state of proceedings. I want Euros to have a future, but there seriously has to be more of a system and an atmosphere rather than making this a chore for everyone involved.
I just want to take my last pick so I can be finished with the draft :(

We are moving on aliir aliir
Russia can pick whenever they want
Teia Miles for Croatia
And we are done for the draft
With pick 34 we'll finally take that backup ruckman! Playing as a KPF this season, eeeeeeasily best 22 at his club, giving Ryder a chop out in the rucks. Come on down, Jackson Trengove!
Now Rico amd I are loving the punty nature of this pick. Its no secret that key position fwds take a long time to develop, but we feel we've got the ability to invest some time into this kid. Two averages in the 50s in his first two seasons, exactly the same as one Buddy Franklin in his first two years ;) Come on down the Bashers Buddy understudy... Paddy McCartin!
Aaaand Bashers are done!
Zip messaged, will update OP when I get home
I never got a message to say this had started or it was our pick. The only message I saw was the message Holz sent yesterday at 2:30pm when I logged in 5 mins ago......
Anyways, will need to try and chat to Nostra who hasn't been online since 21 Feb. Pretty disappointing that we have been skipped after waiting weeks for it to start.
Jake Barrett is on Zips list. Try again mate
OP error, my bad
I apologise for the confusion everyone.
Nost and Rids have always been fantastic in the euros and across the boards.
Really its my fault for starting the draft soo late.
Just a reminder Rids and Nost are co-coaches. As are Ele and Rico
seriously.....
The guy we would have taken was taken last pick as well ::) ::) ::)
We take Tom Lamb if he isnt on anyone's list.

Devo on trengove, would have been my last pick :p
Gimme a sec while I boot up my laptop
Svalbard will go with Short for our last pick
He's just turned 21, played 16 games last year... a little short (pun intended), but he's young enough that hopefully he can get a couple of cms on him still :P
Ticks our box as a defender, hopefully he can add a couple of points to his average and be good depth for us this year :)
We pass on our remaining picks
Wolves will take Darcy McPherson.
Fun fact i moved up to rookie 8 to pick this guy up. I wanted him all along last year but took Cooney in the rookie knowing i could take this guy in the essendon top up. Was worried he wouldnt last so as i said traded up.
no brainer at this pick.

welcome back to the team.
the next guy i wanted to draft, been injured but like what he can do
David Cuningham
Haha nearly took Majak over the Grove, waned more than 4 games from him ;)
Will grab Shaun Hampson, at work so can someone PM next for me please!
I think I'll take a punt on Alex Witherden. I think he was pick 22 in the national draft and would have been taken higher had he not broken his leg. A running half back or outside mid type. Has the potential to be a steal for rookie pick 63! I think Holz has 1 more pick and we'll be done for the draft :)
As this is the last pick can discuss who i was going to take.
i really wanted to take Darcy Cameron but need the defender more.
Sam Collins.
