Seems that Colin Sylvia came back from the break bearing a new spare tyre. Skin folds not in the right place. LOL.
I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in RTBs office when he addressed Sylvia. I bet they had the painters in the next day to repaint the office as the spittle would have been acid enough to remove all the paint.
This venture has been a total disaster.
Looks like a wasted year at Peel for Sylvia... or will he spit the dummy and want to back home.
If he goes back home... are we able to elevate another rookie? Would that allow Ballard to be elevated?
Freo havent had any luck with forwards moving over there have they
None what so ever, but I think this guys problem is himself. I think the others at least had a go and just couldn't cut the mustard, but this guy just seems to think it is a holiday for him being here.
I am not sure that even Peel would want him with his attitude.
Got a source for this man?

I think he ate all the mustard
No definitive source for the skin folds but lots of talk about them not being good. From all the training reports I have read he has been doing lots of running drills - so take out of that what you will.
Edit: Also hearing he has had an ankle issue.

On one of the news bulletins last night or the night before.
I think that this whole deal has turned out really well... For Sylvia :P
He's getting paid sh!t loads of money for doing nothing. I would definitely do that!
If we delist him, as or send him back to Melbourne, are we allowed to elevate a rookie? Or is elevation only for LTI?

good question common sense says yes but not sure
Found this little tid-bit in a training report
QuoteColin Sylvia was also absent, despite running freely before Christmas. The 28-year-old had ankle surgery during the off-season to correct soft tissue issues in his calf that he suffered late last season.
"Co's had a couple of setbacks with his rehab over the off-season and then into the pre-season period," Barlow said.
"He's one who's not too far away. The ankle itself has been quite good. I think it's just the rest of the body adapting to the surgery. He's going as well as everyone else in rehab and hopefully he'll step back into the main group quite quickly."
A comment from a trusted source who was at training.
QuoteI spoke to a couple of the assistants about Sylvia and he has re injured the same ankle that was operated on hence the lack of pace and extra weight gained .
At this stage he is not expected to be up to full fitness until round 10 of this season . The assistants said it was a devastating blow to him since he has had high expectations of being available to play from round 1 .
Very disappointing. Was expecting big things from him under Ross but things haven't gone his way at all.
At least he has 2 more years on his contract to prove himself

Same old Colin ::)
Won't be surprised if we release him at the end of this year
Well that doesn't sound positive
Lol.
That is all.
333k a year to play in the WAFL
Here's the AFL link too

It's almost sad.
Hopefully he can do a Walters, for his sake and the clubs
I feel like I'm probably in better shape than Sylvia haha

I hope so too.... but I am not confident about it.
This guy always had a "I'm too good to play at melbourne" sorta feel to him, and I'm not at all surprised that he struggles at a good club.
As I said at the time, the day that Sylvia left... I haven't been that happy since Cale went to West Coast :P

He struggles at Peel and they arent a good club - would have been a close match between Melbourne and Peel last year.
QuoteSylvia also left Fremantle's 2014 best and fairest count in November last year early, after falling ill in the lobby of Perth's Crown Hotel.
Hmm. ::)
http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/fremantle-reviews-recruiting-after-exiling-colin-sylvia-to-local-league-20150206-137spf.html
Fremantle are reviewing their recruiting processes after having banished former Melbourne star Colin Sylvia to WAFL club Peel Thunder for failing to meet the club's expectations about his fitness and preparation for the pre-season campaign.
Sylvia, 29, played just six games for the Dockers last year in his first season for the club after being picked up as a free agent on a three-year deal reported to be worth $1.2 million. And a disappointed senior coach Ross Lyon on Friday said the latest chapter in a 163-game career littered with fines and suspensions for indiscretions and poor attitude would force the club into a re-think about its recruiting policies.
"We've got to go back and work through our process of decision-making and research and reference to make sure that we get it right in the future. That's the real opportunity here," Lyon said.
"What didn't we see to tell us that this outcome would occur? So myself, [football manager] Chris Bond, (list manager) Brad Lloyd and [chief executive] Steve Rosich are working through our whole process of talent identification and bringing people into our club, because it's really important. When you see what Nick Dal Santo has done for North Melbourne, or Danyle Pearce has done for us or Brian Lake has done for Hawthorn, we're trying to get outcomes like that. And we haven't derived that outcome."
Bye bye Col.

Yeh we haven't. Although Syliva is the only one that has cost us. The others we have grabbed cheaply
I never had a problem with the Gumbleton pickup. It was always a risky proposition and we only gave away pick 50'ish for him. If it paid off it would have been a masterstroke.

Difference is, we gave up next to nothing and chucked him on a rookie wage :P

Sylvia can turn it around - says Lee Spurr
I don't think he is struggling at all - imo he has just lost his passion for the game and is riding his contract out
He had complications with his ankle after surgery, and obviously wasn't as strict over christmas as he should have been. That along with missing most of the pre-xmas preseason has put him way behind. Especially after the much higher level of preseason Ross has put the boys through this year. This is a prime example of why preseasons are so important in setting up teams/players for the year

Ric, I hope you are not using that as an excuse for Sylvia.
Remember he was sent back for the same reasons last season. He just hasn't grasped the idea that he is no longer at Melbourne FC.
Even if he couldn't run, surely he could ride the bike. Do body exercises to make sure he didn't load up that, those spare tyres. There are more than one way to skin a cat.
He is just bone lazy. He is G O N E.
He will not see the end of the season out. He will not like playing ressies for Peel.

Not at all man, no excuses here. Was simply a statement about the importance of full preseasons.
He should have thought of that before he arrived all padded up last season. He has done nothing to help himself.
He has only himself to blame.
He had the chance for a full PS last year yet blew it.
Bye Bye Col.

Paul Medhurst was at Freo first before being traded to Collingwood. Just clarifying that one.
We traded in Jack Anthony who was useless.
