NORTH Melbourne defender Nathan Grima's injury woes have continued into 2015, with another back injury to sideline him for more than three months.

The 29-year-old is scheduled to have an operation to repair a disc on Wednesday.

North Melbourne director of football Geoff Walsh confirmed the setback.

"The docs have had a round-table conference on this, and it's been decided there will be surgery," Walsh said.

"It hadn't been responding to the conservative treatments.

"He'll be sidelined for 12 to 14 weeks, that is the estimate."

Grima, who made his debut in 2009 and has played 86 matches for the Roos, has long battled back problems and also had trouble with his foot in 2014.

He signed a one-year deal at the end of last season.

Potentially good news for fantasy with one of the defensive rookies a better chance now.

Durdin has trained as a forward all preseason. Tarrant is probably the one who gets a crack now.

Should just retire. Enough is enough.
Yeah you have to wonder if this is the last straw for him. Hope not, because even though North made a point of targeting some key defenders over summer its still an area pretty light on

I will put my money on Tarrant and Tippet thanks.

The dude just can't seem to ever get his body right.

Robbie Tarrant could be a decent forward rookie now in terms of job security. It is interesting to read Durdin has been training with the forward group.
