Pretty much the same as the old forum layout, just inside the new design (the Gameday theme for Wordpress). No doubt there are a few display bugs I am yet to iron out; please post them here and I will get to them.
Already don't like it I am on my iPad and have ads popping up everywhere blocking my screen
Where is my FF inbox can't seem to find it
The jQuery Mobile interface for SMF has no ads, it should appear for mobile and tablet users.
this is horrible
gonna take some getting used to, so used to the other layout

I have temporarily reverted to fix the mobile issue of the menu not showing up.

The actual forum only took up 1/3 of the screen on my phone - The rest was just blue
Also half of some posts were just cut off
This is why there is a mobile skin.

It will, yes. Got a few other things to do right now but that will happen next week.
So the new forum has just kicked in
Is this permanent? Old version seems much more cleaner. This seems a bit messy
My team threads for XV comps are ruined now all that work on them and now they look crap
Definitely gonna take a bit of getting used to.
I agree with RD.
It will be permanent, yes, but I will fix display bugs.
For instance, I just put the old stars back in.
I cant find the "new replies" button/link has that function been removed? was my most used
Looks ok just will take a bit to get used to for a second there I wondered what had happened well done m0nty nothing like a change

It's there on the wide view, I need to add it back in to the narrow view (300px).
I use the "mark as read" all the time, but that's just moved to the right so no biggy
I don't like how threads with multiple pages, the page numbers get bigger each number
Also, on the forum homepage the AFL section, the teams go all the way to the right, they need to fit under the section
Quote from: SydneyRox on March 27, 2015, 04:39:11 PM

Yep where is it, need this can't live without it need i say more. :P
Not a fan of the new layout. :(
Why fix something that wasn't broken?
I think what will help me the most is changing the default font
The Section headers seem to be in the normal font, but the topics titles, time stamps and all other fonts look like times new roman which makes it looks cramped and ugly
If you can get the fonts back to the normal font then that should make a big difference

Why fix something that wasn't broken?
Mac, when you finish studying and enter the workforce you will see that this happens all the time
People like changing things just for the sake of changing them
If there are genuine improvements by doing this than fantastic, but if its just for the sake of doing it and provides no new benefit then its useless
Still have ads popping up on my phone and I close it and go to another page and they pop up again
I dont hate it, does look more modern i guess ?
Yep, changing the fonts back to the old fonts will def make a massive difference and make things much easier
The thing annoying me most is having that G'day message along with the inbox on the right side of the screen, I'm so used to looking at it on the left. In addition to that, it feels like it's super cramped in that space. It also seems weird that my pic/gif is visible, but half of it is cut off.
Also, maybe it's just me, but the does the actual forum look smaller now? If it isn't, i must just be the blue background making it feel smaller.

I like how my avatar pic is at the top right
In regards to the forum looking smaller, a lighter background colour and reverting back to the old, smaller font will fix all of that
I do like how sticky topics stand out now :)
it's so bad on my phone, I can't read anything. it's one word a line, our names and DP and that take up 95% of the screen. computer was alright from what I can remember
It is smaller now go check out the XV team threads
http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,101005.0.html
Everyone asking about the new replies button
Its at the top right next to your profile pic and inbox

It's disappeared now, so looks like m0nty is taking our feedback on board and playing around with things
XV section seems fine to me
Just need font fixed for me, the rest I can get used to
I have added "Unread" and "Replies" buttons to the grey nav bar at the top.
The main reason for the change is to conform to the new design... couldn't go on with the old design, you have to get everything looking the same. There will be teething problems but I am fixing things you guys suggest. May not get to it all today, though.
Can i pay for premium and get the old skin back?
Open to the change, can see things I will get used to.
Just with the "new" symbols in the main page that have been introduced, I don't know about anyone else, but the bolded blue text indicating a new post has been made would be enough for me, on the main page that is.
It's just I don't go everywhere on the forum so having these "new" symbols everywhere on my main page might enrage my OCD and force me to mark them as read in an everlong losing battle.
I also find the font whilst typing a message off-putting, but overall I reckon I can get used to the changes :)
Thats better. Only issue I have now is the format doesn't fit on my phone
You can't see what this says on the pages because the Dark Blue hids it
(http://i1344.photobucket.com/albums/p660/rdw206/FF%20pages_zps2xpfh81q.png) (http://s1344.photobucket.com/user/rdw206/media/FF%20pages_zps2xpfh81q.png.html)
I will see what I can do about the icons... simple just to copy over the ones from the old skin.
If I get a new PM, will the messages tab get a (1) on it, or do I actually have to click the tab to see my inbox to know if I have a new message or not?
I believe the (1) appears, yes.

I just got one and yeh you get a (1) next to it.
Only thing is you use to get a popup notification and that didn't happen

Monty said something about there being a mobile skin though? Not sure how I would access that
I'll be the first to admit that the mobile skin is ugly. Functional, but ugly.
Did you consider any other SMF themes at all m0nty? I was just having a look through the wide range of options, a lot look much better than this one.
Edit: Link for those curious: http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/
Is it possible to have a lighter red background used on the Board. It is very dark and hard to read headings.

This one is based on the OverviewLight theme, which is minimalist which is the style I prefer. If you want to suggest a better one, be my guest.

The colour scheme can be changed depending on your account options from the main site.

Ah okay.
Something like this (http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=2805), this (http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=2436) or even this (http://custom.simplemachines.org/themes/index.php?lemma=2329) is pretty simple and would be good enough.
Not saying to specifically use any of the three hyperlinked above, but they're general examples of what I think would look a bit better.
I personally like the bolder, more colourful ones, but those ones above are probably more suited.
Phone layout almost unusable
I'm trying to keep the theme colour-neutral, as there is so much colour customisation available in the account options. A colourful one would mean changing all the colours in the theme to suit each team, which would produce unpredictable results (like those ugly blue headings).

Ah yeah, I didn't think of that.
I still feel there's gotta be a better option than the current one, however I'm not sure which one exactly, but you'd probably know what would suit and work best with the other aspects of the site (like the account stuff).

Kind of wish this was tested before being launched
What was the rush? Always better to perform testing to iron out all bugs and launch it new spot on the first time
Please change the font asap :) (Font that our posts are in is fine - all the fonts used on main forum section headers and thread headers need to be changed from TNR)
Sullendy I see the old format again ...
When typing out a post it all comes up in bold letters. Really unpleasant to look at.
I actually liked the new version :)

Yep I checked it out on the computer and it was pretty good I thought
Mobile is where the problems come in
Alright, rethink on the layout.
I'll try shoehorning the old layout in to the new design, so as to minimise disruption.
Its going to be difficult to fit all the stuff inside 300 pixels width, though.
i believe in you m0nty
Not sure if you can do this m0nty, but would be awesome if you could launch the new forum on another URL, give that link to a couple of us to perform UAT

Anyone who was worked in businesses introducing new systems would have been involved in UAT so not really a new concept. Purpose of UAT is to find flaws and fix prior to introducing.

By all means, ossie, and I have a lovely bridge you may be interested in!
If I had a building full of employees to set that sort of stuff up, plus months of preparation to create a professional software shop, I would.
In the absence of that, you're going to have to deal with it being just me doing things my way.

entirely your right to do it all by yourself, but you have likely dozens of people willing to help you for free because they enjoy the site you created. I'd encourage you to utilise, or at least communicate, with this resource and who knows you may get a building full of employees one day.

Not the sort of response I was expecting when offering advice and free help :-\
What ossie said
Agree with Oss here m0nty.
Not being 100% technically over all that is involved but based on my experiences with UAT all that is involved is setting up a test environment and giving testers access, Not sure the technicals behind from your perspective but as Oss said there are a number who would be willing to test for free for you.
Like they said.
I appreciate the thought fellas, but running a test server just complicates things from my end. I've got way too much to do as it is.
