Round 10 Results
New Brooklyn Hawks 15.8.98 lost to Colorado Avalanche 16.7.103
(Real: 1473 vs 1541 )
New Brooklyn just weren't up to the task as the away team in Colorado came over to play. Captain Lachie Hunter lead from the front with Jimmy Bartel, Andrejs Everitt and Ed Curnow providing support to help Colorado to victory while for New Brooklyn, only vice captain Jack Gunston and small forward Jamie Cripps put up a fight.
Best
New Brooklyn: Gunston, J.Cripps
Colorado: Bartel, Hunter, Everitt, Curnow
Chicago Sharks 15.11.101 lost to Anaheim Mighty Ducks 18.10.118
(Real: 1512 vs 1765)
Chicago seems to be having a few problems lately, including leadership issues with their captain and vice captain failing to fire. This is just one of several reasons they weren't good enough to fend off an inspired Anaheim team whose leadership duo showed the opposition exactly how it's done. Anaheim were simply better across the board with no real dead weight, while the Sharks just had too many passengers.
Best
Chicago: J.Gibson, Burgoyne, Wells
Anaheim: Smith, Hannebery, Dangerfield
Boston Terriers 20.11.131 defeated Ottawa Otters 19.7.121
(Real: 1967 vs 1818)
Boston are just too good at the moment with another great score and team effort the reasons for them taking the victory over a spirited Ottawa. With 9 players named in the best for the Terriers, they proved to be a true powerhouse. While for the Otters, they weren't disgraced and would have beaten several other teams this week, but were at the mercy of the luck of the draw.
Best
Boston: Howe, Pendlebury, Priddis, Cotchin, Neale, Gray, Goldstein, Riewoldt, Dahlhaus
Ottawa: Treloar, Zaharakis, Cunnington, Grigg, Naitanui, Jones
San Francisco Grizzlies 19.9.123 defeated Houston Bombers 14.18.102
(Real: 1848 vs 1523)
The Grizzlies are definitely making amends for their slow start to the season, easily accounting for the Houston Bombers who had a very ordinary week. San Fran were solid across the board, only let down by the form woes of ruck Stefan Martin and the absence of their sub Kade Kolodjashnij. Houston would be filthy with vice captain Steven Motlop who put in a disgraceful effort which more or less summed up the week that was for the Bombers.
Best
San Francisco: Steven, Deledio, Christensen, Betts, Jack
Houston: Roberton, Henderson
Carolina Panthers 19.11.125 defeated Quito Quetzals 15.15.115
(Real: 1876 vs 1727)
Another good game went the way of Carolina who took down the boys from Quito. Carolina had a lot of stellar performances including that of their captain Dustin Martin who performed admirably. Quito weren't embarrassed though, but they won't be happy about some of the individual efforts that really weren't up to scratch. However, they can smile about the form of Bryce Gibbs and Scott Lycett.
Best
Carolina: Docherty, Ward, Kennedy, Shiel, Kelly, Edwards, Martin, Rioli
Quito: McVeigh, Gibbs, Goddard, Lycett, Wingard
Santiago Cockerels 21.7.133 defeated Las Vegas Sinners 18.14.122
(Real: 1991 vs 1828)
The Cockerels posted the highest score of the week on their way to a win at home agains the Las Vegas Sinners. Santiago had all but two of their nine midfielders in the best and were just a class above all up. Vegas were on autopilot with the coach nowhere in sight. Captain Tom Mitchell stood up and made sure his men put in a display that would silence the critics, but they unfortunately messed with the wrong team this week.
Best
Santiago: Shuey, Duncan, Macrae, Ablett, Armitage, Gawn, Kennedy, Jenkins, Hartlett, Zorko
Las Vegas: Haynes, Lewis, Mitchell, Lloyd, Franklin, Westhoff, Walker
HOWE DOES HE DO IT!
The Ladder
Boston Terriers 8 2 1273 1136 112.06
San Francisco Grizzlies 6 4 1222 1168 104.62
Carolina Panthers 6 4 1168 1147 101.83
Chicago Sharks 6 4 1135 1119 101.43
Santiago Cockerels 5 5 1202 1183 101.60
Anaheim Mighty Ducks 5 5 1129 1131 99.82
-------------------------------------------------------------
Ottawa Otters 5 5 1177 1188 99.07
Houston Bombers 5 5 1115 1126 99.02
New Brooklyn Hawks 5 5 1091 1144 95.37
Colorado Avalanche 4 6 1112 1121 99.20
Quito Quetzals 3 7 1122 1187 94.52
Las Vegas Sinners 2 8 988 1065 92.77
So the widely considered best two teams in the competition (last year's grand finalists, and the two highest scoring teams) finally take their place at the top, with Santiago and the widely written-off (mostly by their coach) Anaheim climbing into the top six, at the expense of Ottawa and Houston. With one win separating second and 9th, still plenty of time for everything to be shaken up.
