Just can't help it, the X factor and new cult hero for the Australian cricket team

When he does what he does, wow he is great, how can we not love the man?

He is the spirit of the team? :o

Move over Tex Not really but, I love you Glen!

Really dislike him to be honest lol. Just strikes me as an arrogant flat track bully. How he ever made the test team is beyond me, and his batting performances there in India showed his true nature I believe. I guess he's ok in short form especially t20s but from how I see it his bowling is mediocre, and his batting is very hit and miss, and although he's good to come in at number 6 or whatever and smash it when the team's on top in a game, far too often he fails when the pressure is on.

I much prefer the likes of war horses Siddle, McKay and Harris who perform strongly and battle even when the team isn't going well, takes a lot more skill to do that imo.

I guess I can see the attraction in him, I'm a cricket purest though and the best form of cricket will always easily be tests.

Test cricket the best, one day cricket can be just as good, every time I saw a Test Series go, a ODI series came, sometimes it was mixed

Nothing wrong with one day cricket, not the same as test but, still awesome, Glenn Maxwell won't play Test cricket but, he is the heart of the new Limited overs team

Yeah I definitely think that Maxwell will become a very good limited overs player. Shouldn't play tests and should never have gotten into the team, but you need specialists for different teams, and Maxwell is good for ODIs and T20s.

I think he's reasonable at the short form games doesn't mean I have to like him though lol. I will be appalled if he ever plays another test  :P

43.3
Maxwell to RG Sharma, FOUR

43.2
Maxwell to RG Sharma, SIX, well, what can i say! It's a low full toss and it's smashed with the ease of driving a bicycle on an airstrip.. i don't know what to say really.. this is over the cow corner
paul mac: "A bowling machine would have taken more wickets today."

43.1
Maxwell to RG Sharma, FOUR, where are the fielders! this was a mere push through cover and there is no one in the deep, four more.. This is wrong, so wrong

Great bowling!

Pretty hard for a bowler when the pitch is a road, the outfield is about the quickest in world cricket and they're not the biggest of boundaries.

God I hope not lol. There is no way you can have warner and maxwell in the same test team. Maxwell should stick to the shorter formats, having him bat at 6 in a test team is disgusting lol and he's not good enough to be a pure bowler.

I refer back to this:

What this guy said. I really don't like Maxwell at all.

Overrated spud imo who just tries to hit every thing too hard.

Now James Faulkner - there's a talent. Shame he got injured as I would have liked to have seen him get a chance at Test level.

Bailey out, Haddin up to 6 and Faulkner in at 7. He just seems to have the right temperament to play at the highest level.

I love his game but his offies would get destroyed and his batting seems a bit one paced from what I've seen for test cricket, stick to limited overs, he's a star, will be our best one day player for years to come.

Overrated eh? Yeah right, spud he aint!

I don't think there are any people discussing him coming into test cricket. He's a fairly niche player and he's generally pretty good at what he does for limited overs cricket, there are always going to be games when the part-time/ all-round spinner gets smashed

Unfortunately the hate stems from when he did make a test appearance. Apparently some people can never move on.  :P

But yeah, he's a limited overs gun.  8)

I reckon for now he should stick to short forms of the game and maybe with more maturity 2-3 years down the track he could come into the test side as a batting all-rounder.
Title: Re: I Love Glen Maxwell
Post by: tbagrocks on January 30, 2014, 12:47:42 AM
Yeah am certain one day he will, the silly format has a of of these guys going nuts atm though

Once they mature and settle down in their cricket, possibly after making money off twisted20, they get to an age where they will perform at a top level. For the Big Show, I believe this will happen
Title: Re: I Love Glen Maxwell
Post by: Kellogscrunchynut on January 30, 2014, 12:55:01 AM
To be fair on him he did get chucked in the deep end for his test debut in India as the main spinner, with that kind of pressure on his bowling he wouldn't have had a chance to properly prepare for batting over there.

I know he's got many fans, but as much as I want to like him, I cannot stand this guy. Has an ego you can't jump over.

There is no question he is inventive with the bat, and combined with his spinners, he can cause serious damage in T20 and (to a lesser extent) ODIs... the problem is he does not do it anywhere near enough. He's more often a no-show than a big-show, and when he gets out it's off absolutely stupid shots.

Definitely not a Test player either.. don't get me started on why he was batting at 3 in Pakistan.....

Should be called the No Show.

He's a good T20 player but on form he does not deserve a spot at the World Cup, whether Clarke is fit or not. If he does get selected (and TBH I think he will - selectors love him) then expect a rage post from me... or two... or three...

He is out of form, he shouldn't make the squad based on form anyway. Mitch Marsh will miss as well. Faulkner, Smith, Warner, Johnson, Australia have enough players that can turn a game on its head in the space of a few overs.

I actually lost my sh*t when I saw that dismissal live... the sheer insanity of it was just baffling!

Then I saw Maxwell's stats.... in his last 28 T20 matches he's averaging 11.. he hasn't scored over 15 in his last 19 innings

And in ODIs he's averaging 25 in his last 16 innings

He doesn't deserve to but I think he will make the World Cup, only cos the selectors love him

As long as he doesn't get into the Test team I'll be rooting for him, please don't flower this up Maxwell

Adam Voges should be in the squad over this flog. He will stuff it up.

I don't get it. tbag calls it "slap and giggle", yet the biggest "sag" player in the game, Glenn Maxwell, is his favourite player. What does that say?? :O :O

Considering I like Glenn for his Aussie heroics and not his "Slap and giggle" Work in  that Twisted/20, plenty to like, anyone who saw his 95 last week! This kid can actually play! He will still play good Test cricket one day :o

It's his stupid brain that gets in the way but it doesn't stop Davey Warner from dominating!

kudos to the bloke. I bagged him a couple of months ago but lately he's been very very good. He's matured a bit with his batting, and hopefully it continues and he can stand up in the crunch games coming up

I'll admit, his efforts against Afghanistan and Englands mediocre bowling attack after the rest of the team set him a platform were very impressive.

Shame when he was put under a tiny bit of pressure against minnows New Zealand he chopped on for single figures.

Has the ability to turn a good position into an unloseable one, but can't do anything when he's batting in a 50/50 situation. Still not converted.

Looks like we're playing the Pakies the way the game's going

Trouble is, who's next! I think we've avoided NZ in NZ yes? SO it's India, Sri Lanka or South Africa I presume?

Glenn will certainly need to be up for the fight against those three teams after we blitz the Pakies at my Oval with another 50 ball ton to the Big Show :P

Reckon I can get a ticket? :o  frog id be lucky I reckon
