Title: International Draft
Post by: ossie85 on October 28, 2012, 02:11:44 PM
THE RULES

- You have 24 hours to pick. If you are online during your 24 hour period, you have 2 hours to pick from the list.
- If you miss your pick, you get auto-picked the highest draft pick (if all taken, the next player going down the list from the beginning of "players not selected last year). If you get auto-picked, you only have 12 hours to make next pick. If that is auto-picked, all your picks from then on will be autopicked and you need to explain why you missed.
- You can choose to autopick. Let me know in advance
- The number of 'passes' you do is equal to the number of picks you have in the preseason draft. You may also get a pick in the preseason draft if AFTER the draft you choose to rookie list any of your players.
- Enjoy!

Hi guys, just should remind everyone that the 33,000 salary cap is still in force. For most, this won't matter.

Points:

18748 - Beijing Bears
26050 - Berlin Brewers
32212 - Buenos Aires Armadillos
30970 - Cairo Sands
28203 - Cape Town Cobras
21986 - Dublin Destroyers
28049 - London Royals
31391 - Mexico City Suns
26406 - Moscow Spetsnaz
23674 - New Delhi Tigers
24217 - New York Revolution
20389 - Pacific Islanders
28109 - PNL Reindeers
31572 - Sao Paulo Pumas
27328 - Seoul Magpies
29832 - Tokyo Samurai
28891 - Toronto Wolves
22885 - Wellington Warriors

Most players to be drafted have a score of 0, so you don't need to worry about those. Players that do have points are:

Mark Austin   506
Nathan Brown   490
Thomas Jonas   320
Mark Whiley   74
Aiden Riley   69
Marcus Davies   65
Sam Schulz   35
Cameron Hitchcock   25
Bradley Helbig   16
Lincoln McCarthy   12

You can still pick these players, you just can't go over 33,000 points. If they go over, your pick will not count and you will have to pick again. For most, not an issue.

Points...

- Might notice that some of your picks higher than you originally had. This is because after the List lodgement some teams did not have enough space for all there picks, so other picks moved up.

- Why is there a Round 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10? Others delisted more players than they had picks, so extra rounds are needed (like the AFL). This was always going to happen, just restricted trading to the first 5 rounds as otherwise it gets messy.

Plus everybody selected in the National Draft and any delistings from the WXV Clubs

Can Barry play in 2013? Is this a list of delistings, players from last years Nat draft who weren't picked up, 17yo guns(2) & F/S players?
Title: Re: Internatonal Draft
Post by: CrowsFan on October 28, 2012, 02:24:41 PM
Yes Barry can play next year. The only 2 on that list that can't are Martin and Hogan.

Interesting that all these players are available in the national draft, thought they would all be in the preseason/rookie one. But I guess if they weren't then there would probably only be about 60 people to choose from in the national...

Updated to make it a bit clearer

Martin/Hogan can be selected in the National draft, like the other two were.

Plus all of these players would have been available if they weren't selected for one reason or another.

I can make an argument that last years left overs can only be available in the preseason though?

Clay Cameron has been picked up by the GC via Zone Selection.

Don't want to stir up trouble but shouldn't pre-listed players be in the PSD ala NSW scholarship holders? Perhaps I don't fully understand.

Last year players like Zorko or Saad weren't available to be picked in the national draft, they had to be picked in the world draft, so shouldn't it be the same this year with the players like Lee, Anderson etc? I would think they should be in the PSD/rookie draft, but that's just my opinion and happy to go either way ;)

I was thinking Rookie too. Happy to go with whatever you say though ossie. I have some trades relying on where Anderson and lee can get taken.

Speaking from British/Asians anyone on an afl list after the Nat draft is completed is available to be drafted.

Oh OK. Was assuming we'd be trying to mirror the AFL with this. So NSW scholarship holders will go in the ND as well?
Title: Re: International Draft

Personally I'd rather all players not selected in the real preseason draft/rookie draft to be available in the draft. This seems unpopular though
Title: Re: International Draft
Post by: CrowsFan on October 29, 2012, 06:30:35 PM
Well os now that you are just the administrator and not a team coach you can make all the decisions yourself, without worrying about us ;)

Personally I don't mind either way to be honest. The more I think about it the more I am warming to your idea...

Just seems to remove a lot of value from the PSD is all. Seeing as we don't have rookie lists would it be better to just have 1 draft? :-/

Or we could introduce rookie lists...

Rookie picks will be more valuable than NDS picks if we add these players to the rookie.

Always saw the NDS as the most valuable.

Tom Lee, Dominic Barry, Jake Neade, Jed Anderson + Scholarship players - Find 10 better than the players available in second round ND.

Just for clarity I'm not suggesting that Hogan, Martin, Daniher, Viney, Hunter, Mark Austin, Josh Hall, Jason Johannisen, Lincoln McCarthy, Mark Blicavs, Darren Minchington, Michael Hartley or Sam Michael be taken in the PSD.

This is going off the BF phantom draft (it's a little old so not 100% accurate but gives you an idea) -

Jake Neade - #120
Tom Lee - #40
Dom Barry - #34
Jed Anderson - #20

Of course they were then zone drafted so they won't go to the ND and we'll never know but I'd hardly say they're better than pick 20/25+. :P

Front page updated...

We have at minimum 81 players available - but there will be more when delistings are taken into account :/

If there are any other players out there you guys know of that weren't selected in the draft, but made there way onto an AFL list through the thousands and thousands of AFL rules, let me know.

Craig Moller (Fremantle)
Ben Richmond (Collingwood)
Ciaran Kilkenny (Hawthorn)
Gideon Simon (Richmond)

Have added the above players as being available in the draft. They are all NSW scholarship holders or strange types of rookies that won't be picked up in the AFL preseason or Rookie drafts.

Hard to find a comprehensive source....

Shouldn't they be available in the PSD/rookie draft? Caolan Mooney was one of these last year and I had to wait until the rookie draft to pick him.

My logic here is that if somebody wants to senior list these players, they are free too. You are right though, it probably isn't consistent with last year - but some of that can't be avoided.

Depends on when everyone lists their squads with delistings

Still have half the teams left for list lodgements, but we are up to 108 players available in this draft....

If picking from the delisted Worlds players, please make sure they are actually still listed... Is possible I missed them!

Sorry c4, didn't see this last night!

I think, like Q suggests, won't bother with time limits until January 2nd. I will prod people, but its holiday time so we should enjoy all our family, camping, beaching, bbqs, etc :) So yeah, basically am suspending it but still encouraging people to pick

Toumpas had to go early. He's had 2 years of senior experience in the SANFL, which is obviously a far better competition than the TAC Cup, so should adjust to the pace of the AFL a lot quicker than them...

Yeah that's correct. Not sure if it will work but daisy got unexpected forward status and to play him in his new position I'm going to need more MIDs. Not sure if Ossie will allow it as I knew a few days before deadline of period 1, but it wasn't enough time to get a deal done.

Really interested to see how the top 10 will shape out. I'm really surprised one guy got passed up for top 4

Yeah, I'm being lenient. I almost skipped FisherSaints this morning, but thought we could be patient for a bit.

Senior coaches should rule with iron fist, and co-coaches need to have planned though....

But Ringo is deliberately holding up the draft! I say strip him of his first and second round picks for the next 5 years. If Nails pulls this shower his penalty should be at least 50 years.

You should be enjoying your birthday!

Terry Daniher's a bit old for my liking, but fair enough :)

Joe Daniher is the guy I thought definite top 3, so at #9 is a steal. Menzell also fantastic.

Needed to increase our forward power and they are they 2 standout picks.  No secret that is what we were seeking in the draft given we only had 6 forwards after delistings etc,

* Will take 2 years before he starts scoring well.
* Doesn't mind an injury.

First reason was why we skipped him and also you can never guarantee a KPP to score.

This was a really difficult choice I knew who was easily the best player avilable (and better than some who have already been picked)

I needed a mid and i needed a guy who would play this year.

So I did the only sane thing and picked a forward and the only guy left in the draft who cant play next year.

Watch out though he is a beast and he will turn it on in 2014

Kind of a difficult decision but going with Jackson Macrae for positional reasons. 78.4% efficiency will suit the game and should fit right in at New York.

Ok decided on my pick :)

Wasn't the most prolific midfielder this year (only averaging 80 DT in the TAC Cup) due to some hamstring injuries. Been described as extremely classy and has elite use by foot and hand. Likens himself to Pendles, so if he can turn out anywhere near as good as him I'll be happy :)

Hi guys, just should remind everyone that the 33,000 salary cap is still in force. For most, this won't matter. I'll post this on the front page also....

Points:

18748 - Beijing Bears
24489 - Berlin Brewers
32133 - Buenos Aires Armadillos
30074 - Cairo Sands
28150 - Cape Town Cobras
21986 - Dublin Destroyers
27271 - London Royals
30522 - Mexico City Suns
26406 - Moscow Spetsnaz
23379 - New Delhi Tigers
24217 - New York Revolution
20389 - Pacific Islanders
28109 - PNL Reindeers
31572 - Sao Paulo Pumas
27328 - Seoul Magpies
29832 - Tokyo Samurai
28704 - Toronto Wolves
22885 - Wellington Warriors

Most players to be drafted have a score of 0, so you don't need to worry about those. Players that do have points are:

Sam Lonergan   885
Ashton Hams   824
Adam Selwood   778
Andrejs Everitt   532
Mark Austin   506
Nathan Brown   490
Jake King   471
Aaron Davey   422
Thomas Jonas   320
Joel Wilkinson   272
Sam Reid   272
Jesse White   187
Jamie Bennell   175
Bradd Dalziell   79
Mark Whiley   74
Jason Johannisen   72
Aiden Riley   69
Marcus Davies   65
Setanta O'hAilpin   59
Josh Hall   53
Sam Schulz   35
Cameron Hitchcock   25
Gerald Ugle   23
Bradley Helbig   16
Kurt Aylett   14
Lincoln McCarthy   12

You can still pick these players, you just can't go over 33,000 points. If they go over, your pick will not count and you will have to pick again.

For most, not an issue.

Why not? Doesn't affect anyone if no one else has picked yet. I doubt many people saw the pick too...

Nice pick with Hrovat though :) Although don't know how the Doggies are going to fit all their young midfielders in to the side. They have Wallis, Libba, Smith, Macrae, Hrovat, Stringer, Pearce among others...

Taking abit of a gamble here, I know the can kid can play but will he score? we will fidn out soon.

I take the number 3 pick in the draft.

"needs a bit of mid-depth" he says!! LOL My Chumps!

Good pick...

Plugging through the positions of each player, noticed that 3 players were delisted by AFL clubs that I didn't notice (thankfully all the coaches who had them also delisted them, so doesn't impact draft).

Those 3 being Sam Martyn, James Craig and John Heslin...

I'm pretty happy with that as a result.

The Premier (probably)
Mexico City
---------------
The Contenders
Sao Paulo
Buenos Aires
Cape Town
Moscow
---------------
Mid Table
Cairo
Tokyo
Seoul
Dublin
Toronto
Wellington
--------------
Young Teams/Celler Dwellers
New York
PNL
Berlin
London
New Delhi
Pacific
Beijing

My Plan was to use pick 10 24 30 on mids who would play next year. In the end i got a forward who wont play at all, a backman and at least now im picking a mid. Good luck getting games in the 2013 premiership team.

Kid could be a star though

Damn CF, I wanted Wood :(

Seeing as I didn't have any picks until later on I thought there was no real need for research and I'd just take Garner/Wood as they were drafted to North :P Obviously I can still do that with some of our later drafted players (not to be named ;)) but Jacobs and Hine already on lists makes it tougher.

Matthew McDonough!

Needed forwards, and although this fella may have been my sixth choice and will probably be one of those small forwards who will average about 60 (for next year anyway), I really think he was the best available.

Welcome Matthew!

Hi guys, as of today ERIC WALLACE is available in the draft after just signing on with North today... I think in the same way as Gideon Simon - these rookies are rookies without actually being drafted as rookies :/ So if anybody knows of anyone else, let me know.

Gideon Simon isn't anywhere on the SC site, so I'm guessing no they can't play next year.

There were three outstanding players to choose from, but only one could be chosen.

The Pacific Islanders with pick 38 select...

:o

Post by: roo boys! on December 21, 2012, 11:02:12 AM
I'm also in need of a forward and there's a plethora of tall forward options available around this range.

I've chosen this guy for a couple of reasons:

1) He'll take a while to develop but certainly has the talent and height (reckons he's still growing) and hopefully I won't need him for a couple of years.

2) I see him getting R/F DPP eventually.

3) At Port he has a better chance of breaking into the team than others who I considered that are at more successful clubs.

So with that, I draft

Mason Shaw

Not small is he!

Sigh. Good pick. Didn't think he'd get to 55 but still had a faint hope.

REALLY good pick actually, the guy is a champ. The only thing that might stop him getting games however is another gun called Jack Viney....

Clay Cameron

Kurt Aylett

Will be great back up to Berger and Longer Nails - May also get games at Full back if injury intervenes,  Looks great at training as well - As you know player of the NEAFL Final.

Was on like 25 at quarter time, went missing for the rest of the game which is understandable in your 1st game. But he was like Carlton's best fantasy player in the 1st quarter :o

I've said this to all the other 14 coaches who have finished...

Plowman averaged 93 SC in TAC Cup. Only got the draftees and players who can play this season I think. Will have to wait tillnext year on Hogan, Anderson you could look on internet
