This is the thread where we will discuss and decide who gets various positions. The player positions are listed in the Draft Thread OP. The changes will be changed there but confirmed here. How this will work is:
Player Name:
Current Position(s):
Suggested New Position(s):
Reasoning:
Simply fill this out and then if it is a simple call, I'll make the change. Otherwise if I feel there is an element of iffiness attached, I'll send out a vote to all the coaches and if at least 3 reject the proposal then the change will NOT occur and the coach will have the chance to resubmit their proposal.
I'll start us off with:
Player Name: Heather Anderson
Current Position(s): Midfielder
Suggested New Position(s): Back
Reasoning: She is listed as a Defender on her player profile see here: http://www.afc.com.au/news/2016-10-12/womens-draft-player-profiles
Official Changes:

Lauren Spark B to R/F - Confirmed
Kirsten McLeod M to F - Confirmed
Kate Stanton M to F - Confirmed
Pepa Randall M to F - Confirmed
Harriet Cordner M to B - Confirmed
Also I'll try to limit DPP's as we can't have too many :P
Jakarta requests,
Player Name: Erin McKinnon
Current Position(s): Midfielder only
Suggested New Position(s): Ruck only
Reasoning: She is a massive 189cm tall, and was named as the ruck-woman in the 2016 Youth Girls' All Australia Team
Source: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2016-09-05/youth-girls-all-australian-team-announced
Should be a relatively simple one I would imagine :)
Player: Alicia Eva
Current Position: Back
Suggested: Mid/Fwd
Reasoning: All sources suggest that she is and will play as a mid/fwd. The source below (Collingwood draft profiles) even state she's a half-forward/midfielder.
Source: http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/news/2016-10-12/pickbypick-afl-womens-draft
Confirmed both Alicia Eva and Erin McKinnon. :)
Player Name: Isabella Ayre
Current Position(s): Pure Midfielder
Suggested New Position(s): Pure Forward
Reasoning: Her player profile here (http://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/2016-10-12/pick-51-bella-ayre), says she is a predominate forward with the capacity to play in the midfield. However I think she should only be listed as a pure forward and not given DPP.
ftr, I've just contact afl fantasy to see if they intend on making a women's league next year... because if so this could end up being redundant :P

It's not so much AFL Fantasy we need to worry about, we just need any website to publish the stats (if not FanFooty) and we can calculate the scores from there.
If no one is committed to doing all the player stats, or at least publishing them, then we are in a spot of bother.

I reckon the Afl site will have a Matchday score centre.
Player Name: Tayla Bresland
Current Position(s): Pure Forward
Suggested New Position(s): Pure Back
Reasoning: She is listed as a key back in player profiles
Tayla Bresland â€" Pick 52

I meant regarding the positions, a third party setting it would probs be more accurate than what we do
there wont be an AFL fantasy comp for women's next year (they'll start it in 2018 apparently), I'll check with SC tomoz I guess :P

lol I thought you meant stats as well ;D ... we will just go with what we can find out I guess .. as Ossie said this year is just a practice year.

yeah I know, it'd just make it easier :P
I'm not entirely sure this is the thread for it, or if I should be PMing this to Levi or whatever but after doing a bit of digging (my lord, it was tough) Lou Watton's a ruck and Sophie Casey is a forward flanker. And Taryn Priestly is a mid. Gemma Houghton apparently hasn't even played a competitive footy game yet and so nobody really knows her position (like legit the Freo site hasn't even got a position for her profile).

Player Name: Hayley Wildes
Current Position(s): Midfielder only
Suggested New Position(s): Defender only

Pick 44: Hayley Wildes, Cranbourne FC
Rebounding defender who can run all day.
That's all there is to the profile, it's a one liner.

Koenen comes from a talented sporting family â€" her brother is in the Suns Academy and her sister in the National Netball League’s new Sunshine Coast Lightning team.

All good FTC.
Player Name: Emily Bates
Current Position(s): M
Suggested New Position(s): M/B
Reasoning: Depending on where you look she is either listed as a mid or as a half-back. Most sources agree that she moves between both though. Watching her highlights (http://www.lions.com.au/video/2016-10-13/emily-bates-highlights) she seems to spend a fair amount of time back.
See here: http://pedestrian.tv/news/sport/nicola-barr-makes-history-as-the-1st-ever-draftee-/565992ec-ec51-4e72-88f9-c23a174b66fc.htm

Player Name: Kate Deegan
Current Position(s): M
Suggested New Position(s): D
Reasoning: In this interview (http://www.lions.com.au/video/2016-09-16/womens-meet-kate-deegan) she says she plays in defence as she was a defender from her previous sport of soccer.
Player Name: Tayla Harris
Current Position(s): F
Suggested New Position(s): F/R
Reasoning: http://www.lions.com.au/news/2016-07-27/profile-tayla-harris
Some reason Tayla wasn't listed as a ruck but she is.
Haha, so we were waiting until the end of the draft before dropping all of these

Ahhh sorry. I wondered why everyone was doing it the same way :(
I know it's 11th hour but requesting two changes. 1 which I feel I wouldn'tve been able to make earlier.
Player Name: Gemma Houghton
Current Position(s): M
Suggested New Position(s): R/F
Reasoning: Pre-season game against Adelaide her first competitive match of football. No one had a position for her before that. Now listed on fremantle's website as a Ruck, but listed as a forward flanker in other places. Will happily take just Ruck though.
Reference: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-01-26/infographic-get-to-know-the-aflw-dockers
Player Name: Steph Chiocci
Current Position(s): M
Suggested New Position(s): D/M
Reasoning: Listed as a D/M on the Collingwood website, as well as in her captaincy appointment article on the AFL Website.
Reference: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-01-26/blues-fan-then-bulldog-but-now-chiocci-is-pies-skipper & http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-01-29/infographic-get-to-know-the-aflw-magpies
I think the best way to go this season is with the clubs website player profiles, with exceptions.
In the recent player profiles on the Fremantle site she is a Half Back? ... in the article you have posted it says she is a Ruck, she came from a basketball background so I am happy for Ruck position but I don't think we can give her R/F DPP.
Chiocci is definitely a D/M DPP
New positions
Gemma Houghton (R)
Steph Chiocci (D/M)

Confirmed both Koop.
A few changes after team announcements tonight, best indication of positions thus far I suppose,
Player Name: Dana Hooker
Current Position(s): Midfield only
Suggested New Position(s): Forward only
Reasoning: Listed to start at CHF http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-02-02/aflw-all-the-round-one-teams
Player Name: Sarah Hosking
Current Position(s): Midfield only
Suggested New Position(s): Defender/midfielder
Reasoning: This video suggests that she will start off a half back http://www.carltonfc.com.au/video/2017-02-02/aflw-team-selection-round-1
Player Name: Shae Audley
Current Position(s): Midfield only
Suggested New Position(s): Forward only
Reasoning: Same video, Audley is listed to start as a forward pocket http://www.carltonfc.com.au/video/2017-02-02/aflw-team-selection-round-1
We are going by the player profiles not teams ... if we were i would have 15 Backs :P
That's cute but, a team can't have 15 midfielders. Maybe all 15 of them are midfielders but there's only 8 or so spots.
You see it frequently in the AFL, young midfielders entering strong sides have to play as forward pockets.
Please let me know if my changes are passed or rejected soon.
All good FTC.
Also as of now there are NO MORE POSITIONAL CHANGES! Unless there is a crazy exception.
Players play all over the ground, they don't always start in positions that they play normally, positions can change due to injuries and lack of players in that position or maybe the club want to try a player in another position or maybe they start them there and then when the game starts they move them back to normal position for tactics or during rotations. There are multiple reasons players don't always start in their normal positions.
Everybody drafted players according to their positions on the player profiles (as was the rules) . If I changed every player I have according to the way the teams have been named it would be a joke. Personally I would not have let the changes through.
Don't appreciate the cute comments, have some respect or you can run the comp.
Just trying to be accurate mate, if all of your players are listed to play elsewhere, you should've put in for a change. I definitely would not have whined. It's a debut season, the first week of matches, team announcements are the first indications of where players will actually line up in a match. I personally would be allowing positional changes throughout the season as we gauge who is playing where. Season 0, the tester, there's no sheep stations, accuracy is more important IMO.
The rules were we go by player profiles, I don't know how else to explain it to you. If I changed my players according to the round 1 teams I wouldn't need backs or forwards I could just play all my mids because most of them would have DPP.
We all drafted knowing the rules, and we all chose players according to the positions so we all had enough players to cover positions. My backline is pretty rooted ... I am not going to request that my mids are changed to D/M because of round 1 teams.
Imagine AFL Fantasy changed all the positions according to round 1 teams.
Decline them then, it doesn't really worry me. Whatever floats your boat.

Tbh, I find this pretty dodgy. I'm not fussed (and I'm pretty sure I'm playing FTC this round) and I don't know the final results/ I'm happy for them to stand however it lands, but I don't know of any fantasy competition that changes the positions of players the day before round 1 based on where they were named on the field for the first game.
Why are there so many mids listed on the sites? Because most of them would have been midfielders when they didn't play AFL- in lower grades unless you're a monster goal kicker if you're a medium height then if you're the best player on your team (which the draftees would have been) then you're going to play in the midfield.
Otherwise it's like me emailing the supercoach/ afl fantasy a day before round 1 of the mens being like 'so I heard dangerfield's been training forward a bit, and he's named as a HF for round 1, so like, he should be fwd thx.'.
We decided the positions based on what preseason info we had after drafting, then clarified with official position releases from the AFL/ clubs. As I said, happy for whatever result is this week, but for future weeks this is dodgy af, unless we start naming teams based on where they're named in team lists every week (which is a pain in the ass).
