Title: Round 14 Lodgement Thread
Post by: Ringo on July 01, 2014, 12:41:39 PM
Round 14 Lodgement thread for this week.

Round 14 (Round 16 AFL: July 4th to July 6th)
1. Manchester Magic  v Bradford Badgers @ Old Trafford
Badgers should win this but Magic will be looking to bounce back after last weeks surprise defeat.
2. Newcastle Falcons  v Grope Lane Giants  @ Chester-le-street Oval
Falcons should be too strong for the Giants although the Giants have been stringing some strong games together and may surprise.
3. Blackpool Bunnies v Winchester Werewolves @ Bloomfield Road
Werewolves should continue on their winning way.,  Who will stop them.
4. Liverpool Rams v Leeds Leeches @ Goodison Park
Toss of the coin here and depending on which team turns up for both sides. 8 point game here and Rams need the win if they are to challenge for the 8.
5. Oxford Owls v Crosby Cruisers @ Incheon Stadium
Another 8 point game with the winner looking strong to cement 8th place. Toss of the coin again here with Cruisers anxious to put last weeks surprise loss behind them.  Can the Cruisers cover the loss of Jack Reddan.
6. Birmingham Dragons v  Huddersfield Hawks @ St Andrew's Stadium
Hawks should be too strong here and need a comfortable victory to increase % if they are to challeng the 8.
7. Hastings Hurricanes v Swansea Breakers @ Pilot Fields
Hurricanes have won 4 straight under caretaker coach and should account for the Breakers but need to be on their game as the Breakers showed a return to form with last weeks win over the Cruisers.
8. Staines Stein v Swindon Swaggers @ Wheatsheaf Park
Swaggers should win this over the rebuilding Steins
9. Hebden Bridge Hedgehogs v Nottingham Hoods @ Todmorden Sports Centre
Hedgehogs will want to consolidate 2nd place and may be too strong for the Hoods who would like to bouince back after last weeks defeat.

Teams to be locked at bounce of Roos/Hawks game on Friday night with scores to be lodged by 9:00am Monday Morning,

There will be a delay in posting results next week as I will be going into hospital for surgery on Monday.

Round 14

What a round with a few upsets with some lower teams defeating higher placed teams. Giants with their thirsd win of the season accounting for the 4th placed and injury depleted falcons.  Dragoms also had another strong win posting their second highest score of the season showing what could have been if all players were healthy.

Sorry guys just had a call from the hospital and they want me in now so will update scores later in week but will post table now.

Race is still on for 8th position although Owls have it at tge moment some of the teams on 24 points can push them out as they have better %. Race for fourth position is interesting as well as should Falcons or Hoods continue to falter Hurricanes and Magic also have better %.

The way we're playing there's not much you can do to reclaim that #1 pick.

First game in ages K Jack was poor which means no chance for us. Tippett a late out hurts as well plus Josh Kelly sub.

Sigh. Already looking forward to next season.

Well maybe if I updated my team each week then I would have a better or very similar % ::)

The rule cannot be there after this season. Winning games cause you don't work or are on holidays shouldn't allow you to win games. I don't how there is a comparison to the actual AFL. Oh the game was within a goal, but this team submitted their stat sheet they win.

How is it the same? It's like the game finished one point the difference. If you submit your stat sheet on time you get an extra 6 points. E.g. Port won by 1 point over Sydney. But no cause Sydney posted their stat sheet on time, they get that extra 6 points and the win. I don't see the AFL doing stupid things like that. Lol.

Title: Re: Round 14 Lodgement Thread
Post by: Purple 77 on July 07, 2014, 07:17:19 PM
What if you got 20 bonus points for the next week, instead of the current game? Like, by submitting Round X team, you get 20 points for Round X+1.

It is comparable to the AFL in say, by posting your players scores, it is like reviewing their performances, acknowledging what they did (like most AFL clubs do on Monday's), and hence the team will benefit because of the review going into the next match, hence by good coaching, the team has an advantage (for BXVs, 20 extra points...)

Yeah but then someone would not do it this week for example and then complain about losing next week cause they couldn't spare 5 minutes.

Lez think about the work Ringo has to do man. Least we could do is spend 5 minutes and add scores up for him..

Mate, I don't go to school like you and have time to be on the computer. I occasionally check the forums on the weekends especially on a Sunday night. Have you seen my SC/DT/AF teams? I came 69th in SC last year cause I had nothing else to do but play fantasy football. Now I'm I don't know and I don't have the time like you guys who can sit on this forum all night every night and post about shower. I actually called in sick for work this morning so there was no way I was going to update my team this week.

I don't get why we have a rule that disadvantages people. I'm not the only one who doesn't update, but I was the unlucky one who lost because of it. If this was me or someone else, I would have the same opinion on the topic.

Dude I understand some people are busy but the thing is we don't do it Ringo has to do. Sucks that you lost cause of it but that's bad luck. Maybe we can find somewhere between that works for both sides. To help Ringo out and to take into account people that have things to do.

How about we give people until like Wednesday after every round, gives everyone a good three days. Yeah results come out later but whatever.

What people think? Just a suggestion, not sure what it means for Ringo.

I'm still a fan of having the bonus points added to your season total, not your game total. Hence it will help percentage. Bonus points might have to be increased to keep the same level of incentive to do it, but I reckon its a good idea.

Or get a co-coach/assistant that does stuff.

Rico/Ele or I will do our teams score when the others can't and it does take 10 mins max
