Title: WXV Vacant Coaching Position - Mexico City Suns
Post by: ossie85 on January 28, 2014, 12:22:50 PM
Required information

Maca24 has been MIA for some time now, with only 2 posts since September. He has been contacted many times, with no response. Normally this would mean he'd lose his team, but his Assistant JROO8 has been filling in greatly.

Maca has been given until the end of the month to respond, or he'll lose his team.

If you can contact Maca, let him know that time is running out.

I've started the application process now, because if he doesn't come back I'd like to have this team up and running by the NAB cup. If he returns by the end of the month, this process will be stopped.

History of the Mexico City Suns

.... Now this is a biggie. I could even see coaches of other Worlds team wanting to take the reigns of this one also!

The Mexico City Suns are one of, if not the most, successful teams in the competition. Titles include:

- 2012 Premier
- 2013 Minor Premier
- 2012 Reserves Premier
- 2012 North American Cup
- 2013 Americas Premier
- 2013 World Cup Winner (from all four XV Competitions)

His 2013 year was outstanding, finishing the home and away season with a 16-1 record, before falling down at the last hurdle losing to the Sao Paulo Pumas in the Grand Final (almost reverse of what happened the year before).

The squad includes a large amount of stars, with the full list below:

Hurn   Shannon
Hodge   Luke
Adcock   Jed

I would like to apply to manage this team, however I will not be giving up my Pumas team. My plan will be to trade all the good players to the Pumas and form a super team called the Sun Pumas. This is a similar animal to the Snow Leopard but far stronger and faster.

I hope you consider my nomination ;)

Just a heads up for those considering applying... Getting this job comes with an automatic rivalry with the Pumas :)

I am applying to be the coach of the Mexico City Suns.

Since leaving the New Delhi Tigers I have quit playing basketball which took up my time as I had two training sessions and a game per week. I have wanted to get involved in WXV again and have been putting my name out as an assistant.

XV Experience: Original coach of the New Delhi Tigers, assistant coach at the Vietnam Vipers in AXV and the Winchester Werewolves in BXV

Backs: Shannon Hurn, Jimmy Bartel, Luke Hodge, Jed Adcock.
Midfielders: Brendon Goddard, Scott Thompson, Steele Sidebottom, Brad Ebert.
Ruck: Ivan Maric
Forwards: Nick Riewoldt, Jarrad Waite, Stewart Crameri, Adam Goodes
Utilities: Jordan Lewis, Corey Enright

This is a quality lineup and there is plenty of cover for injuries as well. If I took over as coach I would keep much of the same lineup. The only thing that could be needed is youth, with a fair few of the players in the lineup and in the depth getting to the twilight of their career.

I would love to be the coach of the Mexico City Suns and I hope you guys will vote for me

Think JRoo should apply as he has pretty much taken care of Mexico in Maca's absence. But not sure how many teams he'll be willing to run as probably involved in other XV's.

Hi, as most of you know I've been Maca's assistant for the last few months.
I wished there was some way to contact Maca,  :( as he has put a lot of effort into this team and that's why when I was his assistant I declined a few trade offers, as it wasn't my team and I had no idea when Maca would be back. However, I was left to do the team's drafting, since Maca wasn't on.

I would like to coach this side, as we're a chance at the Premiership and IMO the most prestigious XV team in history, so far.  :P

The team is very strong and my best XV would look like:

B Bartel Hodge Adcock Enright
M Sidebottom Goddard Ebert Lewis
R Maric
F Crameri Yarran Goodes Nroo
U S.Thompson Vince

EMG Moloney Sandilands Hurn

If I do get this job, I'd look to bring in a forward and possibly another captain option.

I'm usually on everyday and usually respond to PM's straight away so I'm easy to contact. I like trading, so I would try to complete a few trades by the end of the trade period, to improve the side's Premiership hopes.

My XV History
AXV - Head Coach of the UAE Tigers, click here  (http://www.fanfooty.com.au/forum/index.php/topic,68409.0.html)for my team thread.
BXV - I was an assistant at the Hastings Hurricanes for MTTY for about a year.
EXV - I was an assistant at the Spanish Stallions for Torpedo10 for about a year, before moving to the Valkyries with Zip.
WXV - I was an assistant at New York with Sid before leaving to take a Head Coach role at Beijing. I then gave up that position (as I wasn't able to run two teams at the time but now I'll have a bit more time and I feel I'm able to run two sides), I then joined Mexico City, as an assistant to Maca, before he left and I've pretty much taken over as a temporary head coach, in place of Maca.

SuperCoach is my favourite fantasy comp, so to be involved in WXVs would be a great privilege.

Thanks and good luck to the other applicants. :)

I'd like to apply for the head coaching position.

Before I begin, I'd just like to say that in the past I relinquished a XV role so that a new coach could come along and join in the XVs community. As there does not appear to be any coaches waiting that are not currently involved, I feel that it would be alright to apply. Also, I have always wanted to get into the Worlds competition, and I have applied at every chance I have gotten.

Best XV:

DEF: Jimmy Bartel / Luke Hodge / Jed Adcock / Shannon Hurn
MID: Brendon Goddard / Steele Sidebottom / Brad Ebert / Scott Thompson
RUC: Ivan Maric
FWD: Nick Riewoldt / Jarrad Waite / Adam Goodes / Stewart Crameri
UTI: Jordan Lewis / Aaron Sandilands
EMG: Corey Enright / Brent Moloney / Chris Yarran

Team management:

As for areas of improvement, I feel the one thing that this team is screaming out for is a bit of forward depth. It is worryingly thin  when there are only 6 or 7 forwards who are genuine best 22 starters, and injury prone players like Waite and Yarran are included in that list.

I feel there is a good spread of premium scorers that there will always be a suitable captaincy option. The ruck depth is amazing, and I would definitely look to trade some of this off for another forward. Same with the mid depth, but I don't feel those players hold quite as much currency as the young guns in the ruck.

My XV Experience:

WXV - I have been assistant coach to Ringo at the London Royals since mid 2012 and have enjoyed my time there as we go through a rebuilding faze

BXV - Originial coach of the Leeds Leeches, before handing head coaching duties over to jhello and staying on as a consultative assistant coach

AXV - Original and current coach of the Manila Folders who were AXV runner-up last season and are poised for another shot at the premiership this year. My B&F count and stats sheet (which FanFooty won't let me attach) were both quite popular at the end of the season too. Recently I have also taken on a role as co-admin of the AXV alongside Colliwobblers, and this is a role that I am enjoying. Here is a link to my club thread. http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,66602.0.html (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,66602.0.html)

I am also head coach of the Munich Eagles in Terran X, and I have an assistant coaches role with FS in Americas XVIII.

As I stated above, I have always wanted to get a head coaching role in the WXV, as SuperCoach is my favourite scoring system, and I do really like the XV format of running things. And wow, wouldn't this be a great team to inherit!

Thanks for taking the time to read my application, good luck to the other applicants, and I hope that everyone is doing well in general. :)

I was going to apply but since JRoo is assistant of the team already, I reckon it's right that he gets the coaching role. Macca probably would have liked that aswell seeing as he recruited JRoo as an assistant in the first place.

Ill put my name down for coach.

Ive had expirience with xvs teams for the last year or so, Co Coaching with ringo at the Swansea Breakers (bxv), assisting at the folders (axv) and the 'dillos (wxv) and I have recently been assisting at the Titans in Euros.  I also am a coach in DT 18s, SC 18s and TX. 2014 will be my 4th year of fantasy sport.

The Team
DEF: Bartel, Hodge, Hurn, Adcock
MID: Goddard, Sidebottom, Ebert, Thompson
RUC: Maric
FWD: Riewoldt, Crameri, Goodes, Waite
INT: Sandilands, Lewis

EMG: Enright, Moloney, Yarran

If I get the go ahead to coach the Suns, I will try and recruit another couple of forwards, as there are only 9 of them, with only 6 or so in their best 22. Some weeks we may only have 4 or 5 forwards playing, with Waite and Yarran being so injury prone. I think the rest of the team is well balanced, with some older players and some younger players.

If youve been bothered to read this, I hope I didnt put you to sleep, thank you for reading it. I am happy to co coach with someone, if they feel like they dont have the time to fully commit to xvs, but still want to coach a team.

So I've spoken to FS today about deactivating his account.

Something has come up in the last couple of days for him and he feels that his priorities need to change a bit. Nothing to worry about health wise, but he just feels it is time for a change so he has deactivated his account.

Obviously he has pulled out of the running for the Suns coaching role.

A bit of a personal issue has come up that he would rather not discuss in public. He just needs to take a break from FanFooty for a while.

Title: Re: WXV Vacant Coaching Position - Mexico City Suns
Post by: maximus on January 31, 2014, 07:50:00 PM
I, Maximus am applying for coach!

Hey guys I'm Max and I would love to be the coach of the successful Mexico City Suns!.

Im pretty new to Fanfooty but i have been around supercoach for at least 5 years now and I seem to have a thing for winning. I am young and have a lot of time on my hands for fanfooty and stuff like that. I respond to pms quick and I love to trade. I am a young member and I like to get young players.

I see there is a lot of success with this team and with me as coach there will be only more success to come, adding more WXV premierships to its name.

If I were to be coach my starting line up would look like this...

DEF:  Jimmy Bartel, Luke Hodge, Corey Enright, Jed Adcock

MID: Brendon Goddard, Scott Thompson, Steele Sidebottom, Brad Ebert

RCK: Ivan Maric

FWD: Nick Riewoldt, Jarrad Waite, Adam Goodes, Stewart Crameri

UTI: Jordan Lewis, Aaron Sandilands,

EMG: Shannon Hurn, Bernie Vince, Brent Maloney

If I were to coach The Mexico City Suns I would try and gets some young guns into this team that has so much experience. I also love the depth and experience in this team it means there will never be any problems when picking a side.

History

Assistant coach at Pacific in the WXV
Coach of the Seattle Saints in AXVIII

I know there is not a lot of experience compared to the other guys but that's not going to stop me from winning. I signed up half way through last season waiting for an opportunity like this and now finally there is one so I plan to take it with both hands and take The Mexico City Suns to even more Success.

Thanks and I would love for your vote #vote4maximus :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)

I actually expected some of the current WXV coaches to apply. I would have thought some would like to try and get some instant success...

Jumping ship for a possible but not guaranteed year of success isn't something I, for one, particularly fancy.

Thought of it HB but lifting the Royals is a challenge I am enjoying and do not want to desert them before they reach full potential.

So votes were sent out, 9 of the 17 coaches have replied.... No clear winner obviously at this stage!

Should point out people that another position over in Britain has opened up:

I shall vote tonight! Been a bit busy/tired and very very out of it with disturbed sleep screwing with me (think waking up 10-15 times a night). Kinda know my preferences but just the numbering needs a bit of thinking.

Have messaged all candidates!

Thanks everyone for applying, thanks everyone for voting, and thanks everyone for putting up with my pushiness  :P

The winner is JROO8!

Encourage the other candidates to keep on applying.

If Maca24 returns, he will have no say in this team other than what JROO8 allows. It could be a tricky situation if it occurs....

JROO8 will have until the start of the Geelong/Collingwood match on Wednesday to organise trades..... So please be ready to trade with him if needed. Trades can only be done based on positional changes.

Should point out that JROO8 is the first coach to be the sole head coach of two different franchises!

He is also the only coach with a career winning percentage of 0%
