especially when you say it as Could of and Could've sound basically the same.
They'll understand, only after cringing at a lack of basic English skills and think less of you moving forward ;)

Yep, this is true.

Let's (not lets) use an example.

You're (you are) looking foolish for knowing the difference.

Your lack of understanding of the difference is very upsetting.

The latter is possessive, it really isn't that hard to understand and it gets genuinely annoying when people butcher it and get it wrong.

ill take great content with incorrect grammar over rubbish that is worded perfectly.

I think showing you're more capable at stringing together a sentence than a first grader is definitely not pointless.
