Finals Week One

IMPORTANT NOTE - PLEASE READ

AFL teams will be announcing their teams at 6:20pm AEST on Thursday (Wednesday for Thursday night games)
Sunday teams are confirmed at 5pm AEST on Friday (Saturday for Monday games)

We WILL NOT be using a partial lockout, please read the rule below.

You are encouraged to name your full team at the start of the round and edit accordingly as teams drop each day. I understand this is not possible for everyone, hence why it would be preferred that people name their full team to begin with.

If you make any edits to your team, please do so in a new 'quote' post.

There is no loopholing allowed in ADT

- With Fri-Sun games back, you can name four (4) emergencies.

- In the event a coach either submits an incomplete team or fails to submit a team at all without contacting the admin, they will receive a warning/strike and their submission from last week will be used. Penalties for this can be found in the rules post (no sacking coaches because we barely have enough as is). It's finals so I hope this doesn't happen

Friday night FULL LOCKOUT at 7.50pm AEST

- Teams are to be posted in this format only

C: Player name
VC: Player name
EVC: Player name

D: x, x, x, x
M: x, x, x, x, x, x
R: x
F: x, x, x, x
I: x, x, x

Emergencies: x, x, x, x (any position, in preference order)

- HGA for the first team named in the fixture and is the lowest scoring player (raw score) on field.
- C is worth x2 and VC is worth x1.5
- OOP Players are worth 50% of their total score

Again, congratulations to our Top 6 for making this years finals series! Admin work has been done lazily, but ideally I'll be on top of it for the finals, as there's a distinct possibility it will be the last ADT finals series. Now...

It's a familiar face standing at the top, with last years minor premiers backing up the job handily, though not undefeated this time around. With a few key personnel still out of action, it won't be as easy as can be, but led by English and Gulden anything is possible. Springfield have made a resurgence to finish in second position, and secure a beneficial double chance. They'll back themselves to beat Dallas as they did prior in the H/A season (along with Guadalajara), though travelling to Texas will pose a problem.

Arizona were sitting pretty in 2nd spot until the end of the season where a couple stumbles saw them slide down to third. With Sean Darcy injured and Grundy in no-mans land, Arizona find themselves in a tricky spot with both star rucks unavailable. They're vulnerable, and last year's 4th placers Washington know that too well. They're riding a high after snagging 4th spot, and will be looking to go one better than their dream run last year, but Arizona won't go down easily.

Finally, we have two newcomers at 5th and 6th, with Calgary making a return to finals after missing out last season. El Paso have continued their progression off the back of Nick Daicos and co, and will fancy themselves in this match. Both teams can smash out big scores, but are also prone to some quiet games. What will we get in the finals furnace? I'm excited to find out.

Predictions:

Dallas
Washington
Calgary

Finals Week One

Dallas Drama Denied
Dallas Coyotes (1731) defeat Springfield Isotopes (1673)

As I finished plugging in the scores, the readout had 1731 apiece! However I soon realised that I had not deducted the necessary 50% from Rowan Marshall's VC score, so here we are. (Dallas still wins on HGA afaic) It was a real day for the pigs with Errol, English, Newman and big Mason Wood all posting 130+ scores, but it was the supporting 100's that got Dallas over the line here, namely Conor Nash's 125. However, the win came at a serious cost with Wil Powell now missing a big chunk of time after a bad leg break. For Springfield it's disappointing, but they'll have to regroup as they take on the winner of our next match in a weeks time.

Ruck-less Scorpions Running out of Time
Arizona Scorpions (1698) defeated by Washington Senators (1750)

It's not looking good for Arizona here as they are still without a ruckman. Ziebell stepped up to fill the void with a monster 138, but they can't rely on this every week and they still lost the game. Washington cruise to a strong position as they win a chance at a home preliminary final next week against Springfield and if they keep this up, they're a good chance of it. For Arizona it's into the danger zone as they host the winner of the Elimination Final, and are left to think - what if Grundy had played? It might have made the difference with Gawn lining up for the opposition...

Fireflies Fizzle Out
Calgary (1587) defeated by El Paso Pioneers (1739)

Unfortunately for Calgary their return to finals is short-lived as they bow out in the Elimination Final to a punchy El Paso outfit. Nick Daicos' injury and tag riddled game didn't slow them down one bit, but will be leaving El Paso nervous as he misses the remainder of finals. Merrett and Green picked up the slack though and will have to do so again as the Pioneers look to take on an embattled Arizona next week. There's real potential here for another boil-over and I'm excited for it! Commiserations to Calgary though, as they simply had too many passengers with the likes of Cox, Houston and Sheezel posting some stinkers. Sixth then for the Fireflies.

With these results, here's how we look for next week!

Semi-Final 1: Springfield Isotopes v Washington Senators

Semi Final 2: Arizona Scorpions v El Paso Pioneers

Resting: Dallas 8)

Sixth: Calgary
