Justin Clarke is a key defender an at the ,moment takes opponents No 1 forward. He had the better of Tex for most of the game and his forte in preventing opponent from getting marks by spoiling. Until this art is recognised as a deliberate tactic by fantasy comps and scoring added accordingly these type of players will probably score an average mid 60.

If you had trades etc would probably be handy bench cover with that guaranteed 50/60.

Thanks Ringo. Fits into AF nicely as a bencher

Be prepared for some low scores though but just hope it is not when you are relying on them. Can through in a few when well beaten.

roo boys!

Sauce Merrett due back this week?

Ringo

Had a full game against Northern Thunder in Darwin on the weekend in the NEAFL and was recorded amongst best players so expect him to be considered for call up.

Yet another brave performance from the boys.  Have played 1st and second in the last 2 weeks and more than held our own only to fade a little in the last quarter. This weeks fade out not as bad as previously but we again failed to score a goal. Whether there is something wrong with our conditioning or whether it is the youngsters still not physical fit to match the demands do not know but the telling stat is that in our last 4 final quarters we have been outscored 24 goals to 4. This really needs to be addressed.

The real positive from the game is that we broke even 141 each in contested possessions where we have been well beaten previously. Need to keep improving in this area.

Injury to Gardiner early did not help our cause as it put us down a key defender. Still trying to fathom what he did or what happened to gift Tippett the 50 minute penalty for Swans first goal. Yes umpiring was again sub par but went both ways.  What concerns me though is umpires tend to favour certain players in forward 50's. Buddys 2 frees a typical example and there was no difference to how Sauce wrestled with Tipett and Buddy yet Buddy gets 2 frees.  Just an observation from the game, holding the ball continues to frustrate me at times players seem to be given an eternity to get rid of it yet at other times players are pinged almost instantaneously some no doubt ducking the head interpretation which is really a lottery.  Hanley virtually had his head taken off in the goal square yet umpire called ducking the head and play on!! As I said though decisions went both ways but just highlighting my main beef over inconsistencies with rule interpretations.

More positives:
Andrews continues to hold up as a key defender.  Although Buddy scored 3 goals 2 were from frees and he only had 5 possessions to half time due to Andrews close marking. He will be key defender for the next 10 years and time to offer extended contract now.
Sauce had a reasonable return and great to see him organising the defence from the rear. Had a great understanding with Andrews as Andrews dropped back when he ran up the ground.
Beams continues to show why he was brought to Brisbane and really forming a great partnership with Rocky.
Rocky is back and great to see him going into tackles so obviously really over the broken ribs. Credited with 11 tackles for the game.
Zorko undoubtedly had one of his better games for the year.
McStay really needs to work on his work at ground level with second efforts.  If he drops a mark he tends to drop off rather than follow up.
Paparone continues to relish his role across half back and is open of first picked each week. The real surprise packet of the year and although not leading in Player of the year will be in the top 5 in my opinion at the moment.
Daniel Rich continues to be an enigma and really struggling to find form. His long kicking accuracy seems to have deserted him.
Nick Robertson may be strife for his little jab on Buddy bud a solid replacement for his name sake.

Two disappointments from the game itself - There seemed to be a lack of communication with the start of the game. A tribute to Phil Walsh was starting and then the initial siren sounded meaning the tribute was missed.
Secondly the continued booing of Adam Goodes every time he received the ball is really not on.  Goodes has done nothing to the Brisbane club and this reaction is totally unwarranted.  Apologies to Sydney fans.

Come on boys this weekend and give it to the Demons.

Think you'll find Sydney are third, we're second ;)

No idea how we're favourites this week

Your midfield is crazy good

Gone close to Swans and Freo the past 2 weeks as well

Probably because you are at home.  ;)

Have not updated our injury list for a while but still pretty lengthy with 6 players gone for the season.

Cian Hanley (Knee) - Season
Jackson Paine (Ankle) - Season
Michael Close (Knee) - Season
Jaden McGrath (Foot) - Indefinite
Luke McGuane (Knee) - 1-2 weeks
Claye Beams (Knee) - Season
Josh Watts (Groins) - Test
Josh Green (Foot) - 4-6 weeks
Mitch Robinson (Ankle) - 1-2 weeks
Ryan Lester (Knee) - 6-8 weeks
Darcy Gardiner (Shoulder) - Season

Lester is the latest to be added to the list and there goes a little more of our depth.

Agree with this assessment of our players on the outer:

After turning over 25 players in the past two seasons, Justin Leppitsch is getting closer to the team he wants. Young midfielder James Aish has been the centre of much speculation surrounding his future. The club wants him, but the 19-year-old is yet to commit anywhere for 2016. Aish has struggled for form, played just nine games and been dropped twice in a difficult second season.
Ruckman Matthew Leuenberger might not be fighting for his career, but he is fighting for his spot at the Lions. He was spoken about as a potential trade chip to lure Paddy Ryder last off-season, and playing second fiddle behind Stefan Martin in 2015, the out-of-contract West Australian seems in limbo. He has much to offer, but wants to be the No.1 ruck option and has eight weeks to prove he is.
Veteran Brent Staker has looked off the pace in his four senior games this year, while fellow forward Jackson Paine has played six games in two seasons and suffered a season-ending ankle injury.
Talented half-back Mitch Golby has fallen out of favour, playing just five times this year, in a loaded part of the ground. - Michael Whiting

Staker to retire as I doubt he will be trade bait.
Golby definite trade bait and he has fallen way down the pecking order with the emergence of Paparone  in that role and Harwood to return as well.
Paine not sure really waht to make here but he sure will be a pain to retention committee.
Aish is one that if we have to let go we should be asking reasonable compensation for.
Berger is the other difficult one especially with West still in the wings and kicking 2 goals in NEAFL.

I agree with your assessment of Staker, Golby and Aish. With Paine I think we give him one more year and see how he goes, my expectations are that unless he cracks the first team next year he'll be gone. Leuy is definitely challenging, but I think we should resign him ASAP and use Martin as trade bait  :o or not use Martin in the ruck and use him as a midfielder with occasional stints down forward and/or in the ruck. Leuy is a better ruckman imo.

Ringo

Maybe use Martin similar to how Geelong are using Blicavs this year with Burger in Ruck.

Yup. I reckon we should give that a go.
