Current team:
D: H Shaw, S Higgins, J Newnes, A Oxley, K Simpson, B Smith <J Hamling, A Pearce>
M: N Fyfe, S Pendlebury, D Hannebery, P Dangerfield, D Mundy, L Parker, J Selwood, R Sloane <P Cripps, A Boston, J Glenn>
R: T Goldstein, N Naitanui <S McKernan>
F: D Swan, B Goddard, D Martin, R Gray, M Bontempelli, B Deledio <B Dale, M Cox>
I've never been this close to the cash before!
Obviously Sloane needs to go... and Selwood is a concern, and have $63k in the bank, and 12 trades left
If I just did a straight swap for Sloane, I could afford:
- Rischitelli (highest averaging player, not real keen)
- Kennedy (tempting)
- Shiel
- Boak
- Jack
- Barlow (who I traded out for Sloane the other week...)
- Rockliff (if he returns)
Sidey?
Also why are you asking us? You got this far without asking. We will only kill your team

Because I'll over think it!
Wasn't really paying huge amounts of attention and things are falling my way. Now I think about it it will end up like the monstrosity that is my supercoach team
Hey Os
Treloar may be a good POD if moving out Sloane.
Kennedy not the worst IMO.
Very nice looking team by the way
Kennedy would make that 3 swans in your midfield... whether that's a thing, that's up to you.
Well yeah Treloar might be worth considering, especially with Coniglio going down which might increase his midfield minutes. I mean, his first game without Coniglio and he got 131 DT.
Shiel hasn't gone nuts in a while, in fact he has attracted the tag recently (last century was Round 8 ), so I think I would choose Treloar over Shiel. I don't think Boak is the best choice IMO, and Jack is in the same boat as Kennedy in regards to Sydney players.
if Tom Mitchell gets dropped which is a possibility after the weekend would seriously look at JPK
Everything i'd like to do involves trading Cripps. Not sure you'd be up for that.

I might be!
This can wait a week to be sure of Steels JS but if it were me id move this week.
Cripps to Steele $397,500 in the Bank
Sloane to J.Steven $241,000 in the Bank
Round 15
Oxley to Picken $112,800 in the bank
Bontempelli to Dalhouse Ziebel Bennel Adams etc
One downgrade fills the team.
Leaves you with 8 Trades left to cover the run home and strengthen the backline should one of or a couple of Smith Higgins Newnes look like faltering and an extremely strong team across all lines.
In your position i wouldn't be looking to take cheaper options to save a dollar i'd be investing the money into players that can put a gap between you and the rest.
If that team were mine those are the triggers i'd be pulling.
Goodluck mate, lot's of ways to skin a cat and im sure you'll get some good advice. We'd love to see you win it Os.

Lol all good Grazz, I'm only half joking :P It's not as bad as Jack Trengrove.
But yes, I've heard nothing but good reviews about Jack Steele all year, and reckon he is a safer rookie option.
IF you can get Steven or Armo in do it. They are basically captain options week in week out. The others looking juicy at their price
Lewis - still averaging 115 (down from the 130 odd) priced at 549k
I. Smith
Hepp
Ward
The other option is hold, play Cripps and wait and see if Sidebottom kills it against the Hawks. He should be almost a straight swap the week after.
Get Steven in somehow,he is the top ranked mid atm and is still not in many teams 9% only which amazes me tbh.
I'd look at getting in one of Hepp, Lewis or Steven this week. They should really be in your final side but bide time.
Looking good other than maybe Brodie Smith, he could definitely be on the chopping block once your Mids are solid.

wow :o and he's captain material too. Low score of 92 for year Steven
s should be given serious consideration

I'd be tempted to park Smith/Oxley at D7 and then upgrade Hamling/TheOther into premos
Ok, held off on trading last night, will do tonight instead... so missed out on Kennedy (damn)...
But I've loopholed Hannebery so I'm on 516 after 3 players (captained played)..... can't complain about that...
Good start!

I wonder if we've seen a panic trade after the best18 strat today (and 4 premos out)

yep that changed my strategy, got rid of Dale and Sloane for Armitage and Steele, Cripps survives
New team:
D: H Shaw, S Higgins, J Newnes, A Oxley, K Simpson, B Smith <J Hamling, A Pearce>
M: D Armitage, N Fyfe, S Pendlebury, D Hannebery, P Dangerfield, D Mundy, L Parker, J Selwood <P Cripps, A Boston, J Glenn>
R: T Goldstein, N Naitanui <S McKernan>
F: D Swan, B Goddard, D Martin, R Gray, M Bontempelli, B Deledio <J Steele, M Cox>
Ok. My two nebies last week Armitage (awesome) and Steele (great for rookie) did very well.
Moved me up to 8th... (panic setting in)
10 trades left, with some cash in the bank.
My issues:
- B Smith
- A Oxley
- J Selwood
- M Bontempelli
I'm thinking of downgrading Cripps to Caleb Daniel (and switching Steele into the midfield) and upgrading either Oxley or Smith to Hodge - which would leave me some cash to perhaps upgrade Selwood or Bontempelli or Oxley/Smith in the future.
Thoughts?
Who do you guys think I should get rid of - Oxley or Smith?
With a 20 day break, is it possible Selwood could start scoring like his old self? I'm thinking it would be good to get either Steven or Ablett in eventually.
Oh, and SCREW YOU GODDARD. You are damn lucky your score didn't count this week.
I'd give Selwood another week
We're all familiar with his '2nd half' performances, so it's worth seeing if that will happen this year - he's affecting games, but drifts in and out
I think Oxley's coming toward the end of his useful life (particularly with the likes of Maynard breaking through, and Scharenberg not too far off either) - so would be leaning toward premo'ing him over Smith (Enright Picken Hodge Hibberd all good options)
I'd also be tempted to down Bontempelli (play McKernan as F6) with generating some cash for the upgrade next week (of Selwood->Gaj/Rocky/Steven or Cripps/Boston->Premo Fwd [via Steele DPP])
I was going to ask why Goddard was an issue.
I like the idea of Cripps out moving Steel and getting a prem fwd. Gives you the DPP freedom
Still 8th... luckily after Captain Armitage spudded up last week.
I thought about upgraded Oxley or Smith to Hodge... and I'll probably regret it...
but in the end have gone with Selwood to Ablett
Team for this week:
D: H Shaw, J Newnes, S Higgins, K Simpson, A Oxley, B Smith <B Maynard, A Pearce>
M: S Pendlebury (vc), D Armitage, D Hannebery, N Fyfe, D Mundy, L Parker, P Dangerfield, G Ablett (c) <P Cripps (e), J Steele, J Glenn>
R: T Goldstein, N Naitanui <M Cox>
F: D Swan, D Martin, B Goddard, R Gray, M Bontempelli, B Deledio <S McKernan, C Daniel>
7 trades left and $125,800 in the kitty. I know Hodge is going to sky rocket in price this week :( But next week will look to upgrade either Smith or Oxley (I'm hoping the decision is made for me!... as long as it doesn't cost me points)

Probably time to rid yourself of Brodie S. he's been a liability for a while now.
Yeah will turn him into Hodge this week unless something happens
Can you go Cripps to Hodge using the Maynard DPP with 1 trade? Smith and Ox at D6/D7 means you can play match ups
Quote from: ossie85 on July 20, 2015, 05:39:14 PM

that would seem to be the best option at this early stage ...
one other option I would propose just for consideration is ...
Cripps --> Bartel (moving Bont [M/F DPP] to that 'e' position in the middle for a little bit)??
It maximises the cash from Cripps, gives you another M/F link (though I accept you don't need it) - but if you're 'swimming with trades' could be an option?? ;)
bit superfluous though when you've already got good cover in Steele there though I accept ... :P :)
especially if you can do that and turn B Smith into Hodgey - that's probably a bit too aspirational though eh?? ;)
whatever you do, good luck Oss!!! :)

Agree, Brodie has single handedly cost me probably 300-500 pts, the diff between ranked 137th or top 10
Interesting idea j! Will give it some thoughts
Hodge a must ossie to get in this week. Oxley or smith to go im not sure. Just a matter if on keeps getting to play loose in defence ! Least he has potential get rid of smith!

I did. Sigh.
It was the right call, I had him captain as well and he was on 20 odd with 7 minutes left to go in the quarter so he probably would have gone 120+. Injuries f'ing suck
Yeah at least my eliminator opponent has him also
bad luck Matt
I hope for you the top few teams all traded him in and made him skipper. That could work out to your advantage big time if you include the trades.

Make any trades this round? Gaz is the obvious one. The Brodie Smith coverage looks like it will come in handy as well with no Ox this week.

I almost went Ablett/Oxley for Picken/Selwood
but instead went for Lewis/Yeo
I think I made a mistake
I think Lewis will be better down the stretch compared to Selwood. Selwood will crash and burn next week against the Swans. I do prefer Picken over Yeo by a fair bit though

That's always the issue but I guess you get what you pay for with Picken. Unfortunately as the season goes on money gets tighter and trades become gold.
Looks like after this week I'll have one trade left :(
But I'm 10th, and feel I need to go for broke. Also in the final 32 in the eliminator. BUT I have decent cover in most lines.
Traded McKernan/Steele out this week for Gawn (I'll need the ruck flexibility) and Scharenberg (no real decent option, as I needed a defender as Higgins had to go forward).
Ah well, you don't die wondering.
D: H Shaw, L Hodge, J Newnes, E Yeo, K Simpson, B Smith <B Maynard, M Scharenberg>
M: D Hannebery, S Pendlebury, D Swan, D Armitage, D Mundy, P Dangerfield, L Parker, J Lewis <R Knight, N Fyfe, J Glenn>
R: T Goldstein, N Naitanui <M Cox>
F: D Martin, B Goddard, R Gray, S Higgins, M Bontempelli, M Gawn <C Daniel, B Deledio>
Captain this week? stumped. Think I'll back Pendles. Not confident though
Pretty good work there mate. Gotta do what ya gotta do in times like this. Ruck cover could pay off at some point.
What about Rocky as Captain has had some huge scores against GC.

Good luck Os, having a cracking season so far. Your DPP flexibility is very handy to have.
Good luck Oss, I personally would've taken on Parker as Captain.
All over with Nic Nat out. Goddammit could've covered it if announced before lock up
