Title: i5s Preliminary Finals
Post by: ossie85 on August 23, 2015, 08:18:22 PM

48 teams started!

Only 4 teams Remain!

INDIA v IRELAND
Last time they met:
Round 12: India 5/504 v Ireland 5/429

India have been coachless for the last couple of weeks, but still managed to win and finish top... VERY lucky. Ireland have been up and down all year, but have huge scoring potential any given week.

VICTORIA v FRANCE

Last time they met:
Last week! Victoria 5/427 v France 5/426

Unbelievably Victoria beat France by only 1 point in the last round of the season. Pretty long odds playing someone back to back in this competition.

Winners through to the Grand Final

The luck of the Irish has been with us but our best footy was earlier in the year and Round 1 score still by far the highest of anyone, last week when it counted the Irish showed what they can do!

Taylor Walker is BACK and we welcome any challenge ;D

smeh, not really lucky- the team I've been fielding for the last couple of weeks have been just my top 5 players... it'd be like that for most people throughout the season- only really differed when I had a couple of form slumps and fielded watts/ oxley...

but atm I don't really have much of a choice to with my team :P

so,

French Faux pas

Swan
Bennell
Viney
Kolodjashnij
Watts

(Emergency TBC)

Swan *might* end up getting an alright SC score since he pumped it so hard early game.... but he's done for the season, so honestly I hope I dont win this game, because I don't think we'll we able to put up a decent team for the GF with nicholls and swan out.

India 0/0
B Harvey, N Riewoldt, S Higgins, J Newnes, D Roberton (S Gilbert)
v
Ireland 0/0
T Walker, JP Kennedy, B Smith, R Laird, J McGovern (R Atkins)

Not yet off the mark for either

Victoria
B Goddard, S Mitchell, M Boyd, C Hooker, J Melksham (C Dempsey)
v
France 1/83
D Swan 83, H Bennell, J Viney, K Kolodjasnij, J Watts (T Downie)

Good effort by Swan from just a half of football, but France on the back foot now

Swan 83
Bennell 70
Viney
Kolodjashnij 110
Watts

Downie
263/3.

Vic

Brendon Goddard 82,  Matthew Boyd 94, Cale Hooker 99,  Jake Melksham 61, Dempsey 53
389/5

So I need 127 from watts+ viney to win. Sadly, not a guarantee :p
Title: Re: i5s Preliminary Finals

India 2/181
B Harvey 81, N Riewoldt, S Higgins 101, J Newnes, D Roberton (S Gilbert)
v
Ireland 0/0
T Walker, JP Kennedy, B Smith, R Laird, J McGovern (R Atkins)

Ireland not off the mark yet, and India have been subdued. Way too early to call

Victoria 5/389
B Goddard 82, S Mitchell C Dempsey 53, M Boyd 94, C Hooker 99, J Melksham 61 (C Dempsey)
v
France 3/263
D Swan 83, H Bennell 70, J Viney, K Kolodjasnij 110, J Watts (T Downie)

As mentioned above, France needs only 127 from Watts and Viney - should do it, but who knows with Melbourne. Victoria would be very disappointed with its score this week, not one player cracking a century.

After Eagles/Crows

India 2/181
B Harvey 81, N Riewoldt, S Higgins 101, J Newnes, D Roberton (S Gilbert)
v
Ireland 4/393
T Walker 101, JP Kennedy, B Smith 126, R Laird 105, J McGovern 61 (R Atkins 77)

Strong start by Ireland, who are 282 in front with Kennedy to come versus Riewoldt, Newnes and Roberton.

Victoria 5/389
B Goddard 82, S Mitchell C Dempsey 53, M Boyd 94, C Hooker 99, J Melksham 61 (C Dempsey)
v
France 3/263
D Swan 83, H Bennell 70, J Viney, K Kolodjasnij 110, J Watts (T Downie)

France needs only 127 from Watts and Viney - should do it, but who knows with Melbourne. Victoria would be very disappointed with its score this week, not one player cracking a century.

Smart money currently points to an Ireland v France affair

T Walker 101, JP Kennedy, 117 B Smith 126, R Laird 105, J McGovern 61 (R Atkins 77)
