We could be in for a long year.
That performance on the weekend was pretty but I’m not writing us off yet.
I see that Gaff has not ruled out returning to Melbourne either.
But last week was only a scratch match.Even as a Dockers fan, I wouldn't take much from it.
I watched the game and thought they lacked any real want for the ball, except a few players. The senior players of the side was very poor.
I'd rather Gaff goes than Gov
Really liked Lycetts game on Sunday.
He wasn't against a true ruckman but it it was the other things he did that stood out, tackles, clearances and marks inside 50 all good signs
Biggest thing that impressed me yesterday was our disposal
Can't remember the last time I saw the boys be so clean and hit so many targets
Great start to the year overall, all things considered :)
So I'm coming over to Perth next month and want to see the WCE vs Rich game on May 20
When I look at tickets online it's saying there isn't much left, and what is left are top level with "restricted view"
Surely it's not sold out and they are just showing the limited seats because it's still so far out?
Any idea on what might be best to do? Book these ones now, or wait til next month?

I went to the Geelong game and sat at the top tier, was awesome viewing, similar to MCG looking over the grounds. Restricted I think is because the front row has these clear glass panels that are about eye height and in certain sections there is railing that might block out certain angles when the ball is in certain areas, can't comment on how bad it would be, but I know it would annoy me as well as the glass panels. If there was any dirt or marks on the glass panel it would look like a dead pixel on a TV and prob piss me off, unless you are tall and looking over the top of it. Would piss you off even more if your eye was level with where the top of the glass meets air. I'd maybe hold off a week or two if these things bother you like they do me?
Thanks for the input mate :)
Yeah I figured Top Tier wouldn''t be too bad at this ground - not like sitting up in the Southern Stand at the G - that's too far for me lol
I think I might just hold tight for now and check out tickets next month - hopefully better seats pop up
Worst case scenario I pay more on eBay or somewhere but I don't care, as long as I'm there!
Been a surprise packet for me this year (so far), had them tipped for the wooden spoon.
I guess even Nic Nat at 50% is a lot better than no Nic Nat at all. He's exciting to watch.
Will have to get over some time to see the new stadium, looks bloody brilliant. Let me know what you think RD!
The stadium very much reminds me of stadiums in America, this is a good thing. Or maybe it's every stadium, but I'm just used to Subi Oval.
Boys are rolling, hopefully we back it up against Carlton on the MCG, nice easy run to build our confidence for when shower gets real.
Watching the Sydney vs Dogs game and seeing Coxy in a Swan's uniform in the coaches box was diabolical. :'(

Yeah that was tough to swallow
So now Ticketmaster is saying there are no tickets? Still more than a month out so I will try next month too I guess
Are there any Members here who don't plan on going and would be willing to sell me their tickets? I need 2 tickets
You might need to wait until the resale of members seats if it’s sold out now

If one of us get the resale ticket, I'm sure we can flick it through to you. Try this maybe and keep checking.

I might be getting a box for the Tiges game RD but there's two issues - you'd have to fight my misso for my member seat and also there'd only be one haha
Good luck finding something though
Shocked at how good we've looked this year. Pressure has been amazing all season, probably only the third quarter against Geelong and first 5 or so mins of the 4th is the only time its really dropped off. We're a different team with JJK and Nic Nat up and running.
Really hope Ah Chee gets through the WAFL this week so we can drop Redden asap haha
Thanks guys
I'm not actually a member (Don't see the point as we barely play in Melb) so I don't have the ability to get those resale tickets as far as I can tell
If anyone here does happen to be able to get 2 tickets and doesn't plan on going then I'd be very appreciative if you could help, otherwise I might just have to pay overs on eBay or something

Just a quick question for you guys over west , this new stadium and all the talk of the surface being to hard has it got a car park or something underneath with a concrete base for the playing surface ?

Not sure on what is underneath, but from all reports stadium management are claiming its well within AFL regulations and even toward the softer side on some categories.
Pretty interesting, just read both WCE and Freo won't be training on it (nor will visiting teams) for the next 3 weeks so stadium management can soften up the ground a bit.
Tbh, storm in a tea cup sort of stuff for me. Can't take too much from 4 weeks data

Ok it would explain the complaints because Etihad suffered the same problem and just reading that Longmire reckons Buddy's foot injury started after playing over there in R1 and has not been able to train fully since.

Didn't both Ryan and Venables injuries come from getting trapped under an opponents leg though? Not way to avoid that and can't blame the ground.

He's still tied for the most total goals kicked at the stadium so far ;D
So I'm still keeping an eye out for tickets to the WCE vs RICH game
Prices at this stadium are insane!
For a half decent reserved seat you're looking at $77-$99 per adult
How the flower does it cost that much just for a game of footy? I can get prime time seats at the G for half the price!

Welcome to WA buddy, everything is expensive haha
If the seats are centre wing then I can somewhat understand, but the seats aren't even that great
Is that just normal for you over there? Nearly $100 just to watch a regular season AFL game? LOL that's just flowered

To be honest I haven't paid for tickets to a game in Perth for years so I couldn't tell you
I had a look at the tickets after your first post and I agree $77 for those locations is ridiculous
hey WCE supporter peeps ... Tom Cole ...
why'd it take so long for him to come into the side?? his JS is shaky yeh??
i'm tempted as he looks like a decent downgrade with some cash projections $80k-$120k over the next 3rds, just wondering if he'll get to that stage or dropped before he 'fattens'?? thoughts??

Definitely more expensive given the demand over here. Bit different in Melbs when you're only rarely filling a stadium
My membership works out to like $50 a game

Hey mate, his old boy passed away just before round 1 so he was on personal leave for a couple of weeks. Very much best 22 now, underpinned by the 10 tackles he had on the weekend. I really can't see any reason why he'd be dropped
Yeah fair point ele, simple supply vs demand I guess
And I agree, Cole was somewhat being groomed for that HB role and I think he is ahead of the likes of Nielsen etc so I don't expect to see him dropped anytime soon
Might not make heaps in SC, but should make 100k at least eventually and provide decent cover - good bye too
Supply and demand shouldn't matter, they are just bs prices.
The members/corporates will fill their sections and the public should just be first in best dressed as it is at every ground.
I understand its brand new and more likely to sell out than other grounds but that shouldn't increase it by that much. Imagine what you'll have to pay for finals tickets :o I spent $700 combined on the qualifying, prelim and GF last year (all sell outs). You'll be lucky to get 1 Final at Optus for that by the sounds of it

Yeah it's elevated with a metal fence in front, but being the very first row it should have a little extra leg room and looking at the 360 map the view looks really good, so I'm chuffed to get them at that price and finally head over to see my boys at home!

Ainsworth has been in good form but by golly I'm scared he will snap in half. Reckon Partington gets in over him? Maybe Ah Chee despite not having monstrous numbers he's a bigger body who seemed in the frame early days.
Could even throw a forward like Karpany in the mix (Brander/Allen maybe for NicNat if the nonsense continues) and play Cripps/Willie through the middle more as we've seen lately
All in all, I am so excited for what lies ahead, not only are we winning but we have so much new blood coming through!
And yeah jeepers we'll surely challenge that NicNat ban. It was definitely a free against but stupid suspension. I'd argue the tackle on Parfitt was worse?
Nah mate Amon was ded should've been 2 weeks :P
In all honesty can I testify to award Nic Nat a prize because Amon is so trash we probably got better while he was off the field being treated ;D
Good to see Robbo and Gerard both saying it's a rubbish decision and expecting us at the Tribunal tomorrow to get this horrible decision overturned
The duty of care is with the tackler, just because Amon is significantly smaller than Nic Nat doesn't mean that he can ragdoll him. Nic Nat did drive his head forwards into the turf, not giving Amon a chance to protect himself.
That being said, I don't think he should miss a week, a free kick and probably a 50m penalty would have been a suitable punishment.
Watched the footage and to be honest seen a worse incident at the Gabba that was not even mentioned in reports.
So best wishes to the club for their appeal which in my opinion they must do.
Should get your 10K refunded if the charges are dropped.

I may be mistaken but I thought that was the case?

For sure! My mother in law managed to get tickets, $80 a pop, but will be worth it when we take top spot!
So keeeen haha. If we win on Sunday the lid will begin to loosen :P
Eagles are a class above in Perth and despite the Tiges form im tipping the Eagles, if this game was at the G ofc it would be different but you guys with the list and 22 you are putting out should only get stronger
;D

Why are West Coast playing Hawthorn at Etihad this week when there is no game at the MCG? How can WCE back up their credentials as flag favourites if they don't get to play on the MCG when they have the chance?

VFL conspiracy I TELL YAH. Can't have a WA side getting used to the MCG!
Was casually looking at flights to Melbourne last night for that last week in September. Long way to go and a lot of work to do, but it's still an excuse for a holiday.

Yep Eagles do not have the greatest H & A record at the G, When in Melbourne a couple of years ago went to my first H & A game at the G as a neutral observer and Eagles were soundly beaten by Pies.
Subi was 15 metres longer than the G
New stadium is the same as G
Watch out!
Seriously though, it's a problem the AFL needs to fix - interstate teams should be getting a lot more than 2 games a year on the G
Yeah farcical really.
I do think Optus mirroring MCG dimensions will help enormously though. That and being a good football team again haha
Should head into the bye with another win against the Saints. I bit the bullet and bought flights to Melbourne for grand final week, hope I didn't jinx us. :-X

Yeah to be honest 5th or 6th was my absolute beyond expectation finish this year, didn't even consider 1-4
Swans in Syd, North in Tas and Pies at the G are the biggest tests remaining.

he's not everything, but even NicNat for 50% of a game makes all your players walk taller ... I can understand why Robert Walls had you for the spoon, he didn't factor in NicNat coming back! ;)
Yep definitely thought we’d struggle to make the 8 this year
I laughed when I saw people placing us in the bottom 4 pre-season, even 2nd bottom
I thought anywhere from 6-13 would be where we landed, but am happily surprised with how things have progressed :D
How good are Rioli and Waterman for us? They just make our forward line so much more powerful and full of variety and they've slotted into AFL so seamlessly
I just love the team footy the boys are playing - 22 every week playing their role, not being selfish or lazy, and it helps when you improve your DE as much as they have over the summer
Yep you guys have been the real surprise packets and playing attractive football - I had you finishing 12th due to a couple of retirements but players have steeped up. Reddan is probably having his best season for you since we sent him to you as one who has stepped up to cover.
Robert Walls just named us as the team most likely to play in the Grand Final.

Been doing better this year than I could have expected, interested to see if they can sustain this form going forward. Couple of pretty exciting young players too.

still don't think they'll lose a final over there though
Not too worried about the actual loss, every year the top teams get rolled in a game they're expected to win
Our forward line though is a big concern. I can't remember the last time a team had their two forwards out at the same time, and it's clearly very difficult to cover such a loss
We looked horrible forward of ground and I don't know what we can do, the next couple of weeks are going to be difficult
If we can somehow get Barrass back next week then we can play Gov forward. McInnes and Lycett aren't good enough to play full time forward so we need Gov there until JJK returns or we're going to be in trouble especially with Adelaide in Adelaide, GWS and Collingwood coming up

Fair and honest assessment RD. Inside 50 count was 59 - 45 in favour of Eagles so that really is a damning stat when you were outclassed and coupled with woeful kicking for goal.

Pretty sure that's 2 weeks in a row we've dominated on the inside 50 account with nothing to show. Jetta and McInnes should honestly never get another game. Nelson was barely sighted and covered the top 5 km's in the match, was he running away from the ball?!? :o
When you've got a forward line of Lecras, Cripps and 3 players who are in their first year (Waterman, Ryan, Rioli) it's always going to be difficult to kick enough goals
McInnes and Lycett aren't good enough to play majority forward either
Without JJK and Darling, we need to play Gov forward now - we just need to because we have no forward target at the moment and we can't keep bombing it into 5 smalls and expecting that to be a successful strategy.
I'll be really disappointed if we go into next weeks match with the same setup as last night
Richmond find a way to win even when their only tall forward (Riewoldt) is out. Got to be something Eagles can overcome.

You guys have a massive amount of non-free loading small forwards who put in effort, they also all seem to have the ability to find the ball with midfield traits. That's the difference. Willie, Rioli and Waterman are still super fresh, LeCras is a deadset passenger now, when the going gets tough he doesn't stand up, I'd say Cripps is our best small forward, but seems he has to put all his energy into tackling and forward pressure because noone else does.

Yep exactly
Richmond have the best small forward line by a long shot - it's no secret our success and forward line is built around JJK and Darling, and the smalls do well supporting them but they can't be left to do it all on their own - they are way too inexperienced

Could be these couple of losses could serve WCE for the better in the long run, highlighting a weakness and making it a focus going forward.
Not at all concerned with that. The first quarter killed us and Essendon couldn't miss for most of the game. No fwd structure without JJK and JD and we were crushed in the middle.
No fking idea why McInness gets a game over Brander (he's such a spud and has to be delisted) and tbh Hutch over Sheed is another shower call.
Good reality check for the boys, will be better for it.

The guy let his opponent get to the ball first every time even when he actually got there first he'd let them pick it up so he could tackle, then give away the free kick anyway. Does not belong on an AFL field any more. Keep giving the kids games, it's what got us here in the first place! Simmo going back to his old tricks that had ppl calling for his head.

Yep, Crows are a rabble, but they're at home and we have to many of our good players out, plus plenty of passengers basically flying over to SA for a night out...
Sounds like Barrass is taking longer than hoped and won't be back this week

Yeah it's going to be a tough few weeks
Hopefully we get at least Barrass and JJK back for the Pies game or it could be a real embarrassment.
I thought Schoey wasn't too bad, good depth and critically important right now as Barrass is injured and Gov is hungry for the dollar.
Our midfield got flowered by Essendon and they had so much spring off half back. Not really his fault, nor is it any of our back 6s fault imo.

Not sure what to make of this. Players in minor bingles don't often make the news. It almost sounds like there was a mental health component. Who knows. Hopefully he's back out there this weekend, losing another forward would be pretty shower.

NicNat has done his other knee
I feel so sorry for him. So harsh to only get 15 games after all that time out, only for it to happen again
I believe we can still contend without him, but he's a massive loss
I’m so flowering devo :(
Poor bloke, hope Slyce can become elite over the next 24 months - the ruck role is his.
Feel terrible for NN, cracking fella.
:'(
Poor Nic really feel for him
We need to get Lycett’s signature on a new contract asap,he said he wants to stay let’s hope that’s true
Let’s not flower around either Vardy straight in not McInnes or any other “quick fix†they think of
WCE are in a really tough spot for 2019 without lycetts signature. He can demand a lot more now, probably more than what he'd get on the market. Good for him, tricky for WCE. As a player who is second fiddle to another ruckman he's not likely to have as much true blue loyalty for a club too.
Slyce will stay, well give him all the extra coin we save on Nic Nat not meeting games/performance triggers

I wouldn't think he'd have much of that in his contract, he's too elite. Even with his history.
Yeah NicNat will be taking a haircut although I can't imagine it will be heaps but we need all the space we can get if we're going to be able to retain Slyce, Gov and Gaff
We've also got a few boys out of contact next year too so it's going to be challenging

There is a little, plus the coin we save when we lose Gov haha
Gov signed for 5 years
1 down
2 to go
And now sanity prevails with the MRP and the big fella is rightfully cleared
I thought we had Mitchell for 4 years
All the talk over here is that he is heading back to Victoria at the end of this season :(

Good riddance, stupid flog.
Haha nah shame, seems his family love being uprooted!
I thought half the reason Mitchell went over there was to take up a coaching role at West Coast after he retired?
Yeah he has been midfield coach this year but it seems higher level opportunities beckon in Vic. Probably as a senior assistant at a struggler like Carlton.
Simmo will coach us for the next 30 years <3

Some West Coast supporters, I have always been a Simmo fan. Hard not to be when the bloke coached us to a GF in his second season!
Not panic stations by any means but that was a pathetic performance
1 goal in the entire 2nd half. Makes sense when for the entire flowering game all we did was bomb it into the 50 to a pack every single bloody time
Defence was under siege all day - boys down back did the best they could but our play in the forward half was the worst I've seen in a long time and that's because our mids got absolutely smashed
We missed Jetta
Shuey for you was a big late out. Think Gaff feeds off him and gives you a lot of run.
Well we lost our best ruck, 2nd best mid, 2nd best fwd and arguably most important player in transition from D50 to F50 in Jetta. Blundstone Arena isn't a venue conducive to our playing style, thank flower a final will never be played there haha.

Haha, true
I thought Vardy struggled forward too. So often we kept just bombing it into a pack because Vardy and Jack were near each other - they weren't spreading and giving each other space like Jack and JK usually do
Like I said, not too worried, but we were comprehensively beaten. Just frustrated as if we won we'd have locked up a Top 2 spot essentially.
Freo looked cooked today, so let's hope the boys bounce back next week with a big win
Is that the end for Gaff in the yellow and blue? :'(
Surely if Cotchin gets to play the grand final they only suspend Gaff for 4-5 weeks.
Play on tbh, that's just footy

Might be one of those rare occasions where police have to have a look at it as a potential criminal matter. Was very ordinary. Hopefully not, by all accounts Gaff is a pretty good bloke.

Silly comment. Were cops involved with the Hall incident? Conca? Cameron?
It's a terrible act by Gaff, did he intentionally strike Brayshaw? Yes. Did he intend to hit him that well? Certainly not. Gaff is really shaken up and I hope hes all good. The media will grill the hell out of him and I think hes played his last game for West Coast.
5-6 weeks imo
I dunno Ele, the club sticking by Gaff through this might just be what the doctor ordered in terms of him staying loyal and re-signing
5-6 weeks
4 would be very very lucky
Anything more than a $1000 fine and I'm calling Vic-bias AFL.
I hope so RD, but I can also see him wanting to get out of WA and have a fresh start now. :(
Broken jaw and 4 broken teeth. He's looking at 6+
Could still play in a gf if west Coast were to make it but they would actually have to lose their first final for it to be possible

Would be an interesting proposition, him missing a GF by winning Week 1.
Precedent is Barry Hall's seven weeks for a similar type of off the ball punch. Barry had a bad record, but Brayshaw is more seriously injured.
Didn't Jonas get 6 for whacking Gaff? Probably has to be the same on precedent. If the AFL wants to get serious on this stuff it has to be 8+ soon enough. Last year they wanted to crack down on jumper punches that did 0 damage. When a guy takes a legit swing I wouldn't mind seeing them miss half the season from now on.
Cameron got 5 for badly concussing a player in a contest this is much different it's off the ball and the player has severe injuries , comparing it to Barry Hall ha ha that was eons ago I think the game has moved on a fair bit since then I would say his season is over and by the way I did hear the words " criminal charges " mentioned on this mornings news , it seems out of character for Gaff but don't think that is going to help him.

Give him a 12 month ban, that way most of his ban will be served for his new club... :'(

For the record I do think Gaffy has played his final game for the club - would absolutely love to be wrong. Whoever Gleeson is, he's a flog but there was one thing he said during the hearing that was spot on. "Good people can do bad things but it doesn't make them bad people." This is the exact case here and Gaff through largely shower-luck imo is getting his punishment.

Yeah I was watching the tribunal rundown and some of the things Gleeson was saying were very floggish. Basically telling Gaff he's lying because he said stomach instead of chest?!? Reason why lawyers should not be involved in hearings as they laack the necessary understanding of what players go through during the course of a game. What is wrong with a simple hearing of both sides. umpires if they observed and victim and then make decision rather than having all these legal people earning extra money to ridicule players as part of of argumemnts.
Whilst I agree with the Gaff penalty some of Gleesons statement are bordering on the ridiculous.

Should've just gone to criminal court, prob would've got 50 hours community service...Shannon Grant has plead guilty to bashing his girlfriend 3 times and is out on bail. :o
So so sad tbh.
The guy was in a high pressure situation that he's never been in, and rarely speaks in public. Give me a break you high and mighty tosser! Apparently Simmo has an upcoming talk/presentation with Gleeson.
It really "Grinds my gears" reading those transcripts as to what Gleeson is saying (not just the Gaff case, others previously as well). Typical lawyer really, and has no feel for what players go through on the ground.
This also covers most of the ppl coming out of the wood work to voice their opinions.
Yep nothing more annoying than seeing this “I don’t follow or watch the AFL butâ€
If you don’t follow or watch then shut the flower up

I saw a meme that said when you can't be bothered and you copy and paste the end of an old essay with a pic of the Eagles celebrating! ;D
Flying Ryan really fired us up there at the end! I would say we didn't deserve that win, but Port had one of the worst meltdown's I've ever seen at the end of a game. Who's Ken going to blame this week?

Injuries I suspect. Houston, Dixon and Ryder all down, pretty large injuries structurally so probably a fair whinge!

Always an excuse for the Pear, goal posts moving, players being soft... :P
Yeah there's no doubt we only really won and got back into it in the last because they lost 3 important players
But I don't care, I'll take it!
Shouldn't have even gone down to the wire like that - we should have been 3 goals up by that time anyway considering the last qtr was spent in our forward half and we just kept butchering it
Very lucky, but now it's time to crush the Dees dreams again ;D
1 win locks us in the top 2, not sure who I'd rather play first week of finals though? Maybe GWS due to all their injuries and average travel record? Bit scared to play Hawks.
Yee haa!
Pretty happy to be playing Pies out of most of the teams to be honest. Some revenge for the 2007 overtime final where they got us.
Lets bloody do it boys!
Saturday night makes no sense at all, but hopefully we get the W and the extra week off
No footy next weekend is going to make the wait even more painful lol

How would you structure the finals? People are complaining about the fixture but no one is offering up an alternative structure that is fair.
The way I see it keeping the Th-Fr-Sat-Sat structure means the current fixture is the only way that is going to work.
WC/COL on Thursday would lead to either 2 games at the G on Saturday (never going to happen) or SYD/GWS having two less days of recovery (Not going to happen either)
RIC/HAW Thursday, WC/COL Friday means MEL/GEE get two less days

I would have thought WCE/COL Thu, Rich/Haw Fri, Syd/GWS Sat twilight and Melb/Geel Sat night makes sense
Collingwood has the longest travel, so playing first allows them to get back Fri, and then they play Fri night vs Syd/GWS and then Haw/Rich play Sat night vs Melb/Geel meaning again that it's just 1 extra day for the Top 4 sides

With the week off now before finals an extra day or two shouldn't really have an impact either

Yeah I'll concede, as long as one club doesn't have a 6 days break the AFL seems to be happy
Finals baby! Although a weekend with no footy. Stupid bye. :-[
How far can we go? Top 2 gives us a big shot at making the GF, most likely think we'll be up against Pies then Dees. Think we can handle the Dees this time after losing to them twice at home, but gotta make sure we put away Pies first so one week at a time as they say. Glad I booked tickets to Melbourne months ago, fingers crossed for a good result.
I actually think we will make the GF but I can't see us beating Richmond at the G :(

Jeez you saw what happened to the Crows last year don't count your chickens to early I'm a Tiges supporter and no way I'm thinking they are a monty for the GF the Dee's are looking like very serious contenders with there game style and attack ATM , as we have seen in the last 2 years form leading into and continuing it in the finals is the key ;)
I really feel like this week break between finals could screw us again
The Dogs played Freo in R23, had several of their good players injured but they had the extra week which allowed their players to get right, and they didn't have to travel back to Perth 3 days later like they would have
Now, Collingwood played Freo R23, and the same thing is happening again - they avoid having to fly back a few days later and this time Howe, Treloar etc get the extra week (Apparently Pendles has been sick as a dog all week too!)
I hope it's not a jinx, but this week off could screw us again
At least this time we have the double chance, but flower I don't want to have to use it
QuoteDee's are looking like very serious contenders
Put a quinella on Dees/Eagles GF way back, but it can't happen unless Eagles lose against Pies, and I don't want that!

Definitely screwed us the year against the Dogs, that was brutal. This year I don't think so much as we have a few of our own who are coming back from injury and get the extra week to get their fitness up. That Dogs year was worse because the bye had just come in that season, and it gave the Dogs such a perfect run.

What are peoples thoughts on Gaff's GF behavior?
The entire GF match, and then hours and hours after the match, all I saw was him moping around with a miserable look on his face
I get it, it sucks you missed out, but to not put on a single smile, be happy for the boys and just constantly look grim the entire time - I just felt it was extremely selfish of him, and pretty damn annoying too

I think he was being a bit of a flog tbh... It also made me pretty sure he's going to North.
Yeah thought it was pretty poor form, if anyone had a right to be devastated it was Shep, 95 games straight before his injury!
Well done Eagles, too good in the end. A day of sitting on the receiving end of emails and sms from mates (eagles supporters) in Spain, Mali, Denver, Panama and of course bloody Perth.
Definitely class the season for WCE as over performers. Great forward line, rioli and ryan added a missing ingredient to complement Kennedy and Darling. Always worried Pies would not score enough to win and that is how it turned out.
If only the supporter group had as much class as the players.......

Either way, much needed LeCras replacements
(Watching the above video made me realise how important Lecca was for us this year)

FoxSports mock draft have us getting both - Hill then Taylor but I see that as fairly unlikely. Would be huge though

Maybe a bit of payback by the Crows for swapping trades with GC so they could land McLennan haha ?
Interesting pass on Bobby Hill ???
Must be eyeing off Cameron later on instead

Either we didnt want a bar of Hill or we mucked up big time there haha
Dont mind this crop so far, looks to be mainly safe picks. Surprised we let Freo get Valente
What did we do with those 4th rounders?
Are you guys surprised that a) you delisted Partington, and then b) you didn’t pick him up as a rookie?

He signed with Glenelg not long after they delisted him.

Just about all players will sign with a clause though, in the chance they do get picked up again.

No and no, also not surprised no other AFL club picked him up.
Should have a solid SANFL season next yr though

Amazing. The last 2 minutes fkn got me teary. First time since that day in September. Incredible insight though
Gross, there are several players who need to be dropped to the 2's at this stage to learn some heart and effort.
Starting to get fired up at the tail end of the season, Nic Nat back was great to see, his chemistry with Shuey is epic. I started to get visions of Coxy tapping it to Judd, Cousins and Kerr! Barass and Gov to come back this week puts us basically at full strength now, with just Hutchings to come back. Will be interesting to see if we use anyone else like Nelson as a tagger, I'm not a fan of him, but he's done a solid job against a forward over the last 2 weeks. Will Hickey/Vardy continue to play when Nic Nat is 80%+ or will they opt to pinch hit with Allen? Who gets dropped this week? I'd say Cameron for sure, and maybe/hopefully Masten and Schofield, but I'd presume Masten stays now that Hutchings is out.

Yeah I'm not a fan of Nelson either but he was our 5th best possession winner in the slop and we typically don't perform well in those conditions. If he plays his role and doesn't consistently make monumental flower ups every week I really dont mind him being in our best 22.
I think we will always play 2 rucks. Partly to preserve Nic Nat, I think we can win finals with NN playing 65%-70% TOG. Also we really havent got a proper back up ruckman. Oscar gets monstered in there, and taking Gov out of defence flowers with our structure too much imo and his body isn't exactly up for being smashed around. Still think we lose too much contested marking when JD comes out of the forward line too. I much prefer Hickey to Vardy at this stage - hope he can work well with NN.
Masten looks so cooked and idk why. He was decent last year but he literally brings nothing to the table now. He doesn't have any defensive attributes, he's not a good user, he cant play forward or back. I really think he needs to sit in the WAFL until he is putting up 35-40 possession games and demanding to be picked. Would rather see someone like Brainsworth getting some exposure in a similar role.
This is what I feared with having Cameron, Ryan and Rioli in the same side. When one had a stinker they all seem like they will. Amazing when it comes off but probably not feasible just yet.
Schoey is so far off, so I'm happy to see him get cut. Fine depth player.
Haha, you jinxed Rioli, Cameron and Ryan into all having good games together, although it was against the Dockers! :P Cameron can't get dropped now. Duggan out, so hoping Rotham gets a shot again, Ah Chee goes back out for JKK. Hickey seems to love his role next Nic Nat, I think Vardy is done for the season now. Shepp keeps on Shepping, good to see him get some recognition with the medal, he is sooooo underrated. Reminds me a bit of Beau Waters in the back there.

Yeah Shepp is an absolute gun and certainly goes underrated
Pretty sure Vardy is injured anyway
I would think Cole comes back in for Duggan

Just needs to know his limitations. Hes not Jetta so he needs to stop trying to pick out someone 60m away between 4 opposition players. Keep your direct opponent quiet, play the percentages and spread when the switch is on. Only things he needs to do week in week out tbh

Yep, Cole has done a lot of good things for a while so has the runs on the board - I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and put it down to just a slump in form - hopefully he bounces back to form tonight

And no Stephenson so no repeats of that GF first qtr :-X
Wish there was tbh. Probably the loss we needed to have, but it was a pretty gutting one. Especially seeing all the chirpy Pies fans at the cas afterward
How good is Cameron tho
Gutted, our seats aren't too far from the opposition cheer squad so it made things worse! :'( JKK has become non-existent with all our avenues to goal now, 2 or 3 per game would be serving us well though. Hickey blew that goal right in front by trying to hand it off to Darling, but I have no doubt Darling called for it and Hickey didn't actually take the time to process the possession. Like ele said, it's prob the one we needed to give us a kick up the backside.
The Pies were due to get a win over us so I'm not worried losing by a point. The only thing that really sucks is that we could have been 2 games clear of third and had a lock on Top 2 and home finals but now it's going to require a lot more work

Great news
Yeah lock him in because it would not surprise me if JJK hangs up the boots this year :'(
Nice debut for Franky Watson - like the look of him
Waterman needs to stay in the WAFL. Looked good on debut and early parts of last year, but he's just stagnated and if anything is going backwards
That umpiring today was beyond atrocious.

Just comes in and plays a trash role. Once JJK retires and we can run Darling, Allen and Waterman as keys he will be fine. He's just struggling atm playing out of position.
You're probably right, just let him chill in the WAFL for the rest of the year and have him keep kicking bags

Yep, don't get me wrong I see him being a part of our future, my comment was just about the now, and I agree that the role isn't helping him but heading into the business end now I'd rather not see him out there
Refreshing to see JJK remind us of how lethal he can be come finals 8)
