Finals Week Two

IMPORTANT NOTE - PLEASE READ

AFL teams will be announcing their teams at 6:20pm AEST on Thursday (Wednesday for Thursday night games)
Sunday teams are confirmed at 5pm AEST on Friday (Saturday for Monday games)

We WILL NOT be using a partial lockout, please read the rule below.

You are encouraged to name your full team at the start of the round and edit accordingly as teams drop each day. I understand this is not possible for everyone, hence why it would be preferred that people name their full team to begin with.

If you make any edits to your team, please do so in a new 'quote' post.

There is no loopholing allowed in ADT

- With Fri-Sun games back, you can name four (4) emergencies.

- In the event a coach either submits an incomplete team or fails to submit a team at all without contacting the admin, they will receive a warning/strike and their submission from last week will be used. Penalties for this can be found in the rules post (no sacking coaches because we barely have enough as is). It's finals so I hope this doesn't happen

Friday night FULL LOCKOUT at 7.50pm AEST

- Teams are to be posted in this format only

C: Player name
VC: Player name
EVC: Player name

D: x, x, x, x
M: x, x, x, x, x, x
R: x
F: x, x, x, x
I: x, x, x

Emergencies: x, x, x, x (any position, in preference order)

- HGA for the first team named in the fixture and is the lowest scoring player (raw score) on field.
- C is worth x2 and VC is worth x1.5
- OOP Players are worth 50% of their total score

Finals Week Two:

Semi Final 2: Arizona Scorpions v El Paso Pioneers

Urbaninfinnity

It's a home prelim on the line for Springfield and Washington, with the loser facing an unenviable trip down to Texas where they take on prelim chokers Dallas. Springfield host this one courtesy of their top 2 finishing position, but they'll have to be wary of the rampaging Senators who are running hot. Both teams have been impressive all season, and this match should be no exception! Rory Laird is due a monster score, but it might not be enough against the well rounded Washington outfit.

On the other side of the bracket, Arizona and El Paso do battle to stay in the finals hunt! Based on ladder position it should be a slam dunk for the Scorpions, but with Darcy and Grundy both out of the side they've been slipping and are now in danger of an inglorious exit at the Semi finals. Last year's runner-ups will feel they better than this, and will have to call upon the rest of their team to put in the work, namely Bontempelli and Sicily. El Paso lose starboy Nick Daicos for the season, but as they showed last week he isn't a requirement for success. Look for Zach Merrett to dominate in the big time.

Finals Week 2 - Contenders and Pretenders

Washington Nuked.
Springfield Isotopes (1952) defeat Washington Senators (1624)

A Semi-Final mauling by the Isotopes! Washington stood no chance as they had to reach into their emergencies to cover the loss of Libba and Caldwell + Hopper who never even took to the field! Alas, Washington weren't a chance even if they had their full side firing, as Springfield went nuclear with one of the highest scores of the season! Only 1 team was stopping that 1952, and Dallas probably didn't get close this weekend! The Isotopes cruise into a home prelim against the winner of our next match, while Washington have to pull themselves together for a preliminary final against the top dogs in Dallas.

Scorpions with no Sting
Arizona (1519) defeated by El Paso Pioneers (1624)

It's an unceremonious exit for last year's runners up as they slump to a meagre 1500's score. That ain't enough to move on in August, and for Arizona it's farewell as they finish in 5th place after looking to have a top 2 spot locked up for most of the season. Brodie Grundy and Jack Macrae were the villains scoring 36 and 45 respectively, though Todd Goldstein got in on the act for El Paso with a 28! As for El Paso, they move on to the prelims! I called the Washington run as they capitalise on their opponents mistakes to edge on through, but with Washington and El Paso both posting 1624 up against Dallas and Springfield away next week, one can only think that this is a case of contenders versus pretenders...
