Title: WXV Vacant Coaching Position: New York Revolution
Post by: ossie85 on June 07, 2014, 08:54:45 AM
The WXV Competition (see http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,51596.0.html for more detail) has a vacant coaching position for the New York Revolution.

This is an exciting team, but has struggled with injuries, suspension and depth. It is a great fixer-upper team, and has some genuine future stars like Tom Liberatore, Harley Bennell, Adam Treloar, Kade Kolodjashnig and Luke McDonald as well as strong experienced players such as Travis Cloke, Matt Stokes and Josh Gibson.

To apply, please introduce yourself, your experience, your bext XV (4 defenders, 4 mids, 1 ruck, 4 forwards, 2 Benches from any position) and how you would take this team forward.

Applications close TUESDAY 11:59pm (10th June).

I'd consider but it has Cloke so I'll pass. ;)

Nah but someone should give the team a crack, it's got some guns like Libba, Bennell, Terloar, Stokes, Christensen, Macrae, Kolodjashnij, McDonald, Cannon.

That has got to be the silliest reason haha.  :P

Become coach and trade him to me like you did in BXVs.  ;D

Just go for it vin, at the end of the year I'll trade you Waite for Cloke.  :P
Not a bad team, just a pretty weak forward line. Lots of young stars.

I've told Daz to go after other teams before, he just didn't want to leave <3. He's welcome to leave like many of my assistants before me (*Glares at KB) but his call :).

I was actually kidding about considering guys. :P

To be honest, I hadn't thought about taking on another team. Probably not up for it right now, maybe down the track.

I'm really surprised at the lack of applications for any of the jobs. Three open jobs (maybe 4) and not one applicant.  ???

There really hasn't been any new coaches coming into the competitions even as assistants this year.

Maybe there should be a small bit of advertising for it on the SC and AF board which get a lot of traffic to let people know that it exists?

Ringo did that with the BXVs job, but posted them solely in the SC and AF board, not the childboards where all the traffic is.

Yeah, I remember that. It was good. It's a shame that we can't actually advertise in the P&T boards without getting it removed.

OK... I'll put my hand up.

So my name is Aaron, I'm 23 and currently work as a Tax Accountant. I am a fanatical Essendon supporter and a general sporting tragic.

I exclusively play Supercoach and have been doing to for the last 5 years. This may change next season. I try to watch every game each week and like the analytical/statistical part of the game (the main reason I like SC, as it better reflects the influence that players have on the game).

IMO this would be the current best XV for New York Revolution

Def: Dempsey, Gibson, McKenzie, Kolodjashnij
Mid: Liberatore, Stokes, Macrae, Bennell
Ruck: Pyke
Fwd: Cloke, Black, Kommer, Siposs
Bench: Christensen, Treloar

Obviously New York's major weakness is its forward line, so the major way to improve this side is to be aggressive at the trade table and attempt to lure one or two decent forward players.

To do this New York would have to offer up a midfielder that is not in the best 4 and top draft picks.

Another Ruck to cover for Pyke would also be handy and a running defensive player to help top up the defensive stocks.

Hey Ossie/Applicants (Thus far AK47), forgot to include 2 utilities/benchies :). Can be of any positions so pretty much the best players left to choose from for them!

I think you're just too scared to run a team yourself. When running a team you have no one to blame if you lose, but at the moment as an assistant none of the heat falls on you with poor results :P

Well you couldn't be too stingy since you would need to fix up the side with some trades. Anyway it would mean I may find it easier getting players from PNL ;)

Nice graphics Sid!

But perhaps you should be a co-coach? As shown in the past, you went AWOL once, came back and then resigned...

If you can come back and commit long term, then you definitely have my full support!

I'd love if Daz runs as well, would make it 3 worthy candidates to vote for, may be one of the closer votes we've had for World's!

Been away for the last couple of days, so haven't had the chance to apply yet.

Best XV
D: Gibson, McKenzie, Kolodjashnij, McDonald
M: Liberatore, Treloar, Stokes, Macrae
R: Nicholls
F: Cloke, Black, Menzel, Kommer
I: Bennell, Christensen

I really really like this team (despite its lack of Lions players  :-X), in a couple of years, the team will be premiership contenders, with K-Kolo, Mcdonald, Nicholls, Black, Treloar, Liberatore, Mckenzie and Bennell all quite young and should be awesome options in a few years. Then there are the more senior guys in Gibson, Cloke, Stokes and even Pyke, who I don't have in my best xv, as I like Nicholls more.

At the the end of the season, in the trade and draft periods, I would try to get another premium forward, and two more depth forwards (anyone getting consistent games). I'd look to trade out a couple of the midfielders to get the forwards. I'd also look to have a big year in the draft, but with the points cap thing, that may not be able to happen  :-X.

I have been involved in the xv's competitions since the start of 2013, when I joined up with Ringo at the Breakers (BXV) and I quickly was elevated up to co-coach. I am also involved at the Folders (AXV) and the 'Dillos in this competition. I have always wanted to join up to Worlds, which I think is the height of coaching a fantasy team on this website. I have tried out to be the coach of the Pacific Islanders, Beijing Bears (now Thunder), New Delhi Tigers and the Mexico City Suns in the last 18 months. All of which I have been unsuccessful :P. So yeah, I would love to be a World XV coach and I think I can really help this team become a premiership contender in a few years.

Wouldn't hold your breathe fellas.
I suspect the reason os wanted the applicants to all post teams was so that if the vote was decided mid-round there will be a team the elected coach chose - Which means it might be a few days yet. :)

I know I am late to this, but I just finally got around to looking into this XV comp after several coaches had invited me to join (Holz, LF and Ringo)

Anyway, if I am too late than so be it, hopefully another opportunity will come up in the future :)

As I was reading through this thread I saw AK applied and my first thought was that AK and I could be co-coaches, both being relatively new around here and joining FF at similar times, plus we regularly engage and discuss SC in the SC boards and I feel like we are on the same page and could work well together, but then as I continued to read this thread I saw that Sid and Rich also applied so that kind of throws that idea out of the window unfortunately :(

In terms of who I am, you can check out my interview with Nas, and even though I am too late to apply I might as well throw out a Hail Mary application and see what you guys think

New York's best team is as AK stated, but I would field Treloar over Macrae (Just swap them)

Def: Dempsey, Gibson, McKenzie, Kolodjashnij
Mid: Liberatore, Stokes, Treloar, Bennell
Ruck: Pyke
Fwd: Cloke, Black, Kommer, Siposs
Bench: Christensen, Macrae

All in all, it's a pretty poor team that needs a lot of work, but like the other applicants I would be up for the challenge :)

(Maybe because AK and I are totally new to XV we might get a chance to do this :) )
