Sup yall! 8)
Trade rules:
- Given all teams started the trade period above the minimum cap, you can't go submit a list lodgement where your total salary is below $8,900,000. If you do, you will lose your first round draft pick in 2018, and also 4 premiership points for the 2018 season.
- You can go over $11,100,000 (the max), provided you cut it down in your list lodgement
- Trades can be any combination of players and picks
- You can trade priority picks, picks in the first 5 rounds of the International Draft, first 2 rounds of the preseason draft and first 4 rounds of the rookie draft.
- Available list spots will be worth 100k each in your cap
Start date: Once I issue all the player salaries.
Finish date: 11:59:59 PM AEDST, November 17
Every Monday(ish) will put trades up for a vote.
List trades as:
Team X trades: Player Y + Pick Z
Team A trades: Player B + Pick C
*then provide reason and/or insight as to why you did the trade*
The other team must then confirm the trade, and also provide a reason and/or insight as to why they did the trade.
Please just list and confirm trades here! All talk should go to this thread:
WXV Trade Confabulation (http://forum.fanfooty.com.au/index.php/topic,110261.0.html)
Trade Voting
Every coach needs to vote, missing 2 votes consecutively will result in A LOSS OF A DRAFT PICK. So have your assistants in order. The first co-coach vote I receive will count, the second co-coach vote I receive will not.
- 0-3 votes is an auto-pass
- 4-5 votes passes the trade with the admin having the power to reject it
- 6-7 votes fails a trade with the admin having the power to pass it
- 8+ votes is an auto-fail.
You have a week to vote! However, this year I'll be trying to do 2 votes per week; one on Monday morning and another Thursday morning. This won't happen until about Week 3 or 4 of the trade period though, because we'll be more than busy in the first few weeks of mass trading. Lenience will be introduced if you miss the trade voting deadlines, as this can be quite regular.
I'll also be disclosing/quoting the reasons why you negged the trade (in a rejected trade) to the coaches involved (via PM), but omitting the authors of the negs.
This year, if I'm not satisfied with your reason why you negged the trade, I simply won't count it. If I feel it is out of being petty or the reason just lacks detail, I won't count it. If you feel strongly enough about a trade, the reasons should be apparent enough for you to articulate them into a couple of sentences.
Trade Etiquette
- If a coach trades a player that you inquired about without getting back to you, PM me with a quote of the message, and I will auto-neg it. It is then expected that the coach enter negotiations with an open-mind to the coach it previously didn't get back to, and once resolved, then the trade will be put back on for voting. Come on guys, this isn't hard and I get sick of it happening.
- Complain all you like (except don't) about the decision of a trade, it won't amount to anything. 2016 was a lot better, but even then there were complaints I had to deal with. Did they get anywhere? No. Please note how futile your doging is to me. I get so sick of it, that I might just start deleting posts if I feel it will lead to a nasty discussion. I just don't have the time or endurance to put up with it.
- If you have a genuine complaint, please PM me and we'll talk about it.
- FFS, don't complain about a trade decision (publicly). Just don't. Move on.

Confirmed.
Was very hesitant to lose Hanley as he is at his lowest value coming off a horror season with the passing of his brother and getting no continuity in his footy. I'm expecting him to get back to a 90 average next year (100.2 average in the last five weeks says he's back) so he should be very handy down back for New York.
But the fact of the matter is I don't really need him with Brayshaw a shot at DPP and Webster stepping up. I also get one of my all-time faves in Mundy so it's a win/win.
Toronto trade: Mitch Duncan + Lewis Taylor
Cape Town trade: Dion Prestia + Blake Acres + N4
Hurts me to trade a couple of guys that were a big reason for us climbing up the ladder this season. Duncan with a 109.8 average is now elite and a genuine captain option, the same can't be said about Dion so I'll have to bank on him bouncing back to make this trade worth it. Lewy for Blacres is like for like, GL gets a Lion while I get a good WA boy.
GL to confirm.

Confirmed. I was looking for another reliable mid after what happened with my mids this season, and Duncan suits perfectly. Dion obviously decided to get back into form the last 4 weeks, but i think sacrificing him and N4 for Duncan is worth it. Lewy and Blacres like for like as Ada mentioned, i just wanted another Lion and Ada liked Blacres :)
Cairo trade: Josh Smith + N43
Cape Town trade: Tim Broomhead + Mitch Honeychurch
I've always been a pretty big fan of both Sweeps and Sweet Jesus. Obviously neither has really cemented a spot in their team, but I'm backing both to go improve in 2018 and eventually do so. Our defenders aren't looking terrible and Cape Town both want and needed a solid defender which they get in Josh Smith.
Dav to confirm.

With Cairo winning the auction of Dan Hannebery posting the trade:
Cairo give Rhys Mathieson + Dom Sheed + N6
London give Dan Hannebery + Mav Weller.
To get ahead needed to trade a gun to assist rebuild.

It's probably no secret Hanners had a down year, but he's also gone 101, 114, 113 in '14, '15 and '16 and we expect him to bounce back to 100+ average making him a very good addition to the Cairo midfield. Insanely gutted to be giving up Matho, Sheed and N6, all of which I rate highly, but it's the price you pay for a good midfielder. Mav didn't have his best year but has gone 70+ in the two years before this and I think he'll also have a better 2018.
Confirmed.

Who? I hear you ask. Soon to be 3rd year tall and future superstar at the GWS Giants. Yet to debut but slowly improving.

And now my second captain option goes. Kreuz has been absolutely monstrous this season and is arguably a top 5 player in the competition for value. We needed something decent to move him and we got that in the form of JOM, albeit with significant injury issues. JDG is another guy I never thought I'd move, taking him at pick #7 overall in the re-draft and he's only just started to repay my faith. Would not at all be surprised to see him average 95 as a forward next season but you gotta give quality to get quality.

Sauce is an absolute gun but he's at the wrong end of his career in comparison to Sean Darcy who really could be the next Mumford. Darcy's youth makes up the difference in scoring output at this point in time.

A champion at the wrong end of his career vs a not champion but a solid scorer with many years left.
A couple of handy picks for a young star in the making. Looks like a loss through my eyes but the next part sees an absolute champion player switch WXV clubs and it'll have captaincy ramifications for a long time to come.
OFFICIAL TRADE IS Rio trade: pick 84 Christchurch trade: Jed Anderson and pick 80

Cripps is an absolute superstar of the game and any team would be proud to have him. He's a legit captain option for gr next decade and already a WXV premiership captain. Yeo is a gun, so it would need 3 excellent players to get a duo like this to a new club!

Toronto trade: Jade Gresham + Sam Kerridge
We like the look of Gresham, a high potential young forward at present that should soon permanently play through the mids (hopefully rotates through as early as next season). Confirmed.
Ok just wanted to address some of the comments that mentioned NDT's part from the coaches that didn't like the trade
Menegola averages 106, Crouch averages 106, they cancel each other out:
Menegola actually averaged 100. And when Jelwood was in the side he only averaged 92.5.
Matt Crouch averages 110 this year, and 115 from Round 5 onwards. As a 22yr old he is our most valuable player and it's more than reasonable to expect him to got 110+ again for many more years.
He is also a captain option, so another +10ish points on most our other captain options.
McInerny will be the #1 ruck next year with Stef moving back to Victoria:
Atm McInerny is the
back up ruck to Archie in the ressies, playing well in the NEAFL and Stef is still at Brisbane. He is also still a rookie listed player. Going on media speculation if Stef to get back to Vic, Lions are looking to bring another ruck in. Even if they didn't bring another ruck in, and Stef left, Oscar would still have to jump Archie.
Menegola will get fwd status:
Menegola didn't get fwd status in AF in the first changes, it wasn't until RD 15. That's because he played inside mid in the first half of the year, then had a stint as a fwd/mid through the middle of the year. Then when Jelwood missed he was back inside.
And just for reference Jelwood missed:
RD15
RD16 - got knocked out in the first few minutes
RD21
RD22
RD23
Very very very unlikely he'll get fwd status
Not having a go or anything, just wanted to clear a few things up :)

Cobras give: Kayne Turner + N59

I don't mind Clarke, hoping he can get some games next year, and have plenty of fwd depth so whilst I rate Turner, not a huge loss. Rio Trade: Mason Wood
Im a big marshall fan i had him possible late 1st in my mock draft. Named in the finals in game 2 says why. Also like parsons as does geelong.
However as a north super I LOVE mason wood. The guy is a walking injury but has shown glimpses when he gets a few games together.
Will be crossing my fingers and toes a miracle happens and he plays 16+ games. Not counting on it though

So we were pretty damn rapt to get Hanners, especially after what we gave up for him, but we don't see Hanners to Hall as a huge downgrade, especially with Hall every chance to average 100 with Gaz gone and then getting Nick Vlastuin, a solid defender who had a great finish to the year and could be D/M and probably a future mid is huge coup. NDT were gonna delist Davis so chucked him in because we said we'd happily take him too.

Ebert isn't the most stable premo going around and I'm pretty confident N4 will be a better prospect long term, but I've got enough youth so it's now time to beef up my mids.

Picken and Robbo should both get fwd status and score pretty similar, but Robbo is three years younger. I was a fan of TC in his draft year and he'll add to my young defender stocks, however Hartung is worth a bit more at this point in time. He, along with Ah Chee (likely at a new club) and Reid (who I was going to delist but Levi wanted as depth) make up for the age difference between Robbo and Picken.

Rio Trades: Gary Ablett + Josh Walker + National Pick 11
The foundations of The Jaguars are built on the back of Gary Ablett. My absolute favourite player of all time and the very reason I joined WXV to begin with has officially departed.
I'll love you forever Gary more than anyone will know. My heart feels empty without you in my team but it's time to move on. 3 years with you is "enough" and I'm happy to finally get O'Meara. JOM is maybe the only player I love as much as GAJ (and Cripps). I trust that JOM will come back strong and be a key part of The Jaguars in the future.
I hope the one and only God brings joy to those in Toronto. Along with this trade Coach Adamant and myself outlined some rules which will be met if the situation arises.
Rules:
1. If Gary Ablett retires this year, we will reverse the trade.
2. Gary Ablett gets auto-traded back to Rio whenever he eventually does retire.
3. Gary Ablett must have a halo on every graphic that Adamant makes.

Don't reply in this thread btw, but trades are now required to have an accompanying reason, even if it is only like 7-10 words.
Here:
The chances of drafting an 80+ defender at pick 8 are 50/50 at best. Tom Langdon already being proven (multiple 80+ seasons) and developed (but still young) is worth giving up 18 for. It's a risk free trade IMO and I'm willing to add the second pick for that.

I like Melksham, Rowe, Brown, Hunt, Garland, McNiece, Narkle, Hulett, Allen, White, Uebergang and N49 more than Jetta and Pearce combined.
Jake Melksham is without a doubt the star of this deal. Melky kicked 21 goals in 12 games this year and will be a valuable medium rare option for the Jags in the upcoming years.
I don't know anything about Sam Rowe but what I do know is that he will help my reserves team grow. He will slice the excess fat off perfectly.
Nathan Brown is an SC Gun. 23.1DT for 38.2SC is borderline elite. That is 40% scaling. Just imagine if he averaged 40DT! That is one shiny piece of cutlery!
Taylor Hunt. An original Jags boy who I am STOKED to have back. You might say it was a punch out of a deal!
Colin Garland is the perfect knife for cutting a sandwich for a light lunch.
Ben McNiece is a nice knife to use when you are eating dinner with your niece.
Quinton Narkle is a special edition knife with a lot of shelf life.
Liam Hullet is a blunt knife who has some versatility.
Matthew Allen is a knife only to be used for dessert.
Matthew White is a fast knife which will make cutting through streak a breeze.
Matt Uebergang is perfect for cutting tough steaks.
National pick 49 is an unopened knife which has potential to grow into a great knife for cutting potatoes.

Christchurch trade: Picks 6 + 19
Moskva trade: Picks 5 + 31 + 35
Move up a spot to ensure I get the lad I want, and have 2 cracks at finding another late gem. A guy like Daniels could go at 19 or could slip to 31 in this draft so sacrificing 19 isn't horrendous, and I'll be sure to mop up the last of the good players remaining in the 30's.

Last time I traded out Masten he was a 50 game nobody coming off a season of ten matches at 57.3. He played 22 at 89.5 the following season so it's fair to say that I love him. Hoping he can do similar here so I can whinge and whine about compo some more.

Isaac will be the star of this trade. Wilson leaving GWS and Heef being 100 years old means he'll step in and be the main man down back with his awesome left boot, much like WitherGun did this year. Fiorini is a future fantasy star but hopefully the lad I pick at 4 is just as good, maybe even a tiny bit better. They better be since Isaac for 26 is a steal.

RIO TORONTO AND CHRISTCHURCH COMPLETE TRADE FOR GOLD COAST GEELONG SUPERSTAR!
Today marks a significant day for the future of the WXV competition. It's not too often that an opportunity to secure one of the absolute guns of the competition rolls around, but today will be known as one of the defining days of this competition. In the following trade we see a deal that involves one of the best best AFL players of all time switch clubs.
Christchurch coach meow meow had the following to say: "We at Christchurch could not be more happy with this deal and think that it presents an opportunity to really challenge for the premiership, not only in the upcoming year but for many seasons onwards".
Gary Ablett jnr has long been a star player and probably the greatest SC scorer of all time. Any team with him in it is automatically a genuine contender for the premiership.

Right. So I certainly didn't expect to ever trade Gary, let alone just two weeks after attaining him, but this deal was perfect in allowing my Freo bias to override everything. Gary is a champion, but (C)onnor is a future star. At least he better be as this could cost me a flag! 11 + 20 obviously covers the age difference.

Toronto trade: David Zaharakis + Shane Savage + Mitch Robinson + Bailey Rice + Brandon White
Cairo trade: Aaron Hall + Jack Newnes + Jade Gresham + N61 + N79
Giving up three starters for two in order to reduce the age profile slightly. I was starting to get a little bit OCD after not being able to attain Dan McKenzie and complete the St Kilda rebounding set, so I decided to hand Rice and White over to Nige. He doesn't have Webster though so he might suffer the same problem. I get to continue playing hot potato with Gresh too.

So this one took a bit of doing because we weren't overly keen to move on any of the guys involved on our end. Hall's a bit better than Zaha we think, but it's not a huge difference. Newnes is a gun, but we're not entirely sure whether he'll remain as a defender after 2018, whereas we know that Savage will. As Ada said, Rice + White go nicely with McKenzie since one one of them is likely to slot into Joey Montagna's role. Gresh was the hardest to lose though because we really rate him but Robbo is a safe bet for at least an 80 avg which helps our midfield dramatically. We won't be using the late picks and Ada needs some so that just balances it out given we're getting the older players in the deal.

Toronto trade: Jade Gresham + Harley Balic
New York trade: Dom Tyson + N32
Tyson is a bit of a butcher and it's not unreasonable to think Gresh could get close to his 2017 output next year, but I've been looking for another 85ish mid to slot in on the interchange and he's a decent fit in a good age bracket. I'd also prefer to boo the flower out of Balic for years to come rather than cheer him on for my Worlds side so I'm good to let him go for a pick that's well below his worth.

Balic definitely has his concerns and carries risk and probably won't even be best 22 at Melb for a while, but we've always liked him and will give him a shot
Tyson worth more than Gresh at this stage, so his extra worth + 32 for Balic is spot on

The real GOAT returns!
That's right, what you're seeing is really happening. Lions coach Fags has seen many gun players in his time such as Crawford, Hodge, Franklin, Rockliff and Schoenmakers and he has declared that Lester is better than all of them combined. He even deleted Rocky because he has earmarked Ryan to be the new 125+ average Lion. 77 as a forward is just the starting point.
Obviously we have to give up quality to get quality, and Kyle Langford and quality go hand in hand. But even that's not enough to make up for bringing in THE superstar of AFL/WXV.
Jack Steele is one of the brightest young prospects around. #4 in the AFL for tackles per game is a strong foundation of a solid and reliable player but he's also a ball winning gun. 92 average and not yet 22 years old means he'll be a star for a decade and still has room to improve.
We also get back a guy who just signed a 4 year contract so has some good footy left in him. A minor player in this deal but I am happy enough to take him.
Christchurch trade: Kyle Langford + Jack Steele
New York trade: RYAN LESTER + Bryce Gibbs
Confirmed
meow has been struggling for a while now, and I just couldn't keep Lester and Gibbs from him any longer. Ever since he sent them our way you could tell something was missing and he just hasn't been the same, so meow can now rest easy again
They're two of meow's guys, and Church just isn't the same without them so we've sent them back as a gesture of good faith and to maintain the strong relationship between Church and NY
Gibbs has signed 4 years and Lester is a 25 80+ forward, so all of that makes up the age difference for Steele, and we get Langford who isn't best 22 just yet, but is a decent youngster with potential, to even it all out

Parker for picks? Ludicrous! I mean yeah, we should win this long term cause obviously we lose this short term. Suits both teams atm with meow creating himself a pretty dangerous mid (Gaz, Parker, Murphy, Gibbs). Should give him a captain for many years to come while giving us some quality youth to bud for our future.

Polec has one of the worst heads going around and I couldn't bear to have that on my list any longer, the pick(s) upgrades are just a bonus really. Gibson leaving means Mountford should have 22 games on the wing sewn up.
Jroo and Ringo to confirm.
Happy with exchange of picks - Opportunity to get 2 picks between 11 and 40 needed due to the number of players who may be delisted who may not be picked up in Free Agency. Confirmed.

Ever since the news that Burgoyne was going around again, I found myself with a surplus of depth, and the opportunity to let go of one of my 'premiership drivers'. Cousins has promise, and has value long term, such value we feel bridges the gap between Burgoyne & Rampe.

Berlin trade: Jamie MacMillan
Buenos Aires trade: Harry McKay, Pick 23, PSD Pick 1 + PSD Pick 8
So, I've found myself with a nice handful of decent defenders, and a team projected to be over the cap. So I thought it was a good reason to get back into the draft, and have some fun there. I've been pretty happy with my PSD pick performance over the years, and will back myself in to find a couple of gems. Pick 23 will be fun too. I actually do have a few list gaps and very little picks, so this trade really suits me, and it helps Buenos Aires with their cap, whilst also netting a decent best XV defender.

JKH actually could be decent. A handful of 40+ touch games in the VFL shows that. Alas - and I didn't tell Nige this, but he should know - JS will be the kicker, and I'll gamble PSD Pick 6 might have it better in this regard.

Macrae, (C)onnor, Hopper, Brayshaw, Clarke as long-term gun under 25 mids. Down back I only have Witherden, Newnes (?) and a few speculative types, so I'm just balancing out the lines with KK, who despite a filthy DT:SC ratio, has a lot of upside if fit. I also thought I'd punt on the potential of Fiorini for the current better scorer in Tyson. Taking a bit of a risk on Christensen after missing so much footy in the past two years, but he should at the very least fight out a spot at F4 with Hopper. Absolutely kills me to trade Gus after taking him with Pick 6 in the re-draft, but I've already ripped the bandaid off by trading De Goey so I'm just going all out.

This trade needed to be done for cap reasons mainly. More than that it is a trade that helps each side out in areas of need. Trade Period 2 is now open! It doesn't close until January 31st, 11:59:59pm AEDST
Now, this trade period is a bit more limiting.
Rules
- Only 4 player movements allowed, and they can only be 1 for 1, 2 for 2, 3 for 3 or 4 for 4.
- You can't go over the salary cap of $11,100,000, and you can't go under $8,900,000. If you are already under $8,900,000 - you can't make a trade that makes you even lower.
- No trading of future draft picks.
- I decide all these trades for this period. If 6 coaches object to my decision, they can PM me, and the trade will need to be renegotiated. How I approach trades is, I make a decision on the day its put up, sleep on it, then post the decision. So trades should be processed within 24-36 hours.
Got to say love the trade aproval process in this trade period
First trade of TP 2 here for y'all.
Toronto Wolves Trade: Declan Mountford, Jeremy Finlayson, Kyron Hayden, Aaron Hall
Rio de Janeiro Trade: Wayne Milera, Lynden Dunn, Jake Melksham, Tom Bellchambers
Here at Rio we despise player attachment. Henceforth we have ensured to negate all feelings of attachment whilst trading this offseason. In addition we feel trading Aaron Hall back into this lineup is in accordance with our mantra. We see this as a Bellchambers for Hall swap. A Mountford for Milera swap and the other two for the other two. Our backline, whilst quite sturdy could use the stiffness gained by Mounting.
Toronto are clearly here to challenge for a premiership and their staff were committed to building some extra forward depth after a few DPP changes went away from them. Coach Adamant is always a little #CONCERNED about the health, fitness and playing capacity of NicNat. Adamant feels as though Belly could be the final piece of the premiership puzzle and wants that piece of mind of having some rock-solid ruck depth.

If Nic Nat goes down my season is over. Belly averaged 105 against unrecognised/second tier rucks and 76.3 against the elite. He'll find himself at U2 when he comes up against rucks like Goldy. Mountford and Milera are the same age and averaged the same last year, purely a positional swap. The rest of the deal is Levi injecting some more youth at the expense of old depth.

Rio de Janeiro trade: Wayne Milera, Lynden Dunn, Jake Melksham + Tom Bellchambers
Overall, I'm comfortable in passing this trade. The coaches reasoning fills me with the confidence to give them the benefit of the doubt if it ends up going pear shaped for either team. I think these players are more or less comparable.

I simply needed another defender, and after a tiresome search I had two deals that I'd probably wouldn't do if I wasn't in dire need of a defender. In the end, I chose this one (sorry meow!).
Hodge will strengthen my defense to what it needs to be to compete, at the expense of a surplus midfielder.
IZander to confirm.
Dublin trade: Lachlan Tiziani
PNL trade: Phil Davis
I'm comfortable in passing this trade. You know what you'll get with Davis, whereas you don't with Tiziani. These small players are too insignificant to neg.
Trade passed.

Purps asked me to rule on this trade as he's a part of it and also slightly elaborated on his reasons for the trade to me.
I don't think there's a lot to say here. Both teams basically get a player they need with some elements of risk attached to them. I've got no issue with this.
Trade passed.
What a great system.
Quicker, easier and less controversy.
Why dont we always have this

How was this trade passed? Phil davis is a proven scorer and tiz might not even play a game? wtf?

Davis is a proven scorer
In the Ressies :P
At least with Tiziani there is some sort of hope and potential for the future. We all know Davis isn't going to improve (in terms of SC)

I'm gonna have to agree with iZ here
I guess I can see both sides of the argument so let's break it down:
Phil Davis "proven scorer" = solid 60-odd player and guaranteed depth as he'll play a majority of the games.
Lachlan Tiziani "younger and potential" = drafted with AFL and WXV pick
54 two years ago.
You could argue Tiziani is worth less than that as he hasn't played for 2 years. So let's say he is worth WXV pick
60. A simple way to determine Davis' pick value is to look at some of the previous trades completed this offseason. Davis is a 27yo defender who averaged 65.8 last year.
Mark Lecras is a fwd and averaged 66.3. Now you can argue that Lecras has a deeper scoring history than Davis but surely the 4 year age gap accounts for said difference?
This was the Lecras trade:
QuoteTrade 95
Dublin trade: Mark LeCras + PSD Pick 8
Buenos Aires trade: Pick 35 + PSD Pick 19
So a 66.3ave fwd who is 31 years old is basically worth pick
37-40. Therefore a 65.8 defender who is 4 years younger should be worth about the same.
Another example:
QuoteTrade 113
Moscow trade: Lynden Dunn + James Frawley
Rio de Janeiro trade: Pick 34 + Pick 48
Dunn is 30 and averaged 68 whilst Frawley is 29 and averaged 66.3. You could say both are worth pick
41 simply by splitting the picks.
BUT... as Purp said:

These small players are too insignificant to neg.
Conclusion: Make one for yourself cause I bad at computars... :-[

i dont really agree with that logic.
Like if i pick a KPP with pick 30 knowing they will take a few years. In a few years time (as long as they are tracking along as expected) then id actually expect a top 20 pick for them.
The reason why KPP slip is people dont want to wait for them.
Like Weits went pick 8 but its clear he is now worth pick 1 as he is about to be a superstar.

Where did this KPP talk come from? It doesn't have anything to do with Tiziani because he isn't one.

I can only imagine what Weits will be worth in a few years. Probably 3 pick 1's! Not just envy but I also lust for Mexico right now!

I think we might actually have to introduce future pick trading just for Weitering.

Well you saw what a average mid (parker) went for, so that seems about right.
