Well, she lost. Anyone else stay up and watch? 1 at the morning and I'm awake as 1 in the arvo. Anyone else think that Schiovone lady looked like a feminine man? And then rolling in the dirt at the end... Was nice how she climbed up into the crowd though. Really annoyed, had I known she'd lose I wouldn't of stayed up  :-[
Hopefully she can come back next year and claim the victory she deserved Geelong style.

Stosur was outplayed, and maybe overawed. Schiavone deserved the win.

Next stop Queens, then Wimbleton. Are they both playing there? Gotta get past the Williams's again though - not easy.

Defnitely outplayed, Schiavone's plan was brilliant and she executed it perfectly, she negated Sams strengths and maximized on her opportunities. Should both be at Wimbledon, both in the top 10 now, beating the Williams sisters will be tougher on the quicker grass court than the clay, with their powerful ground strokes overwhelming even the quickest of opponents.

Watched half of the first set then dozed off :'(. Unlucky for Sam, been on a role and couldn't get it done on the big stage.

There is always Wimbledon :D. Hopefully this Open was able to push her closer to top 5, then top 3, then numero UNO 8).

McRooster

Watched it all then switched off immediately at the agonizing end.

Had had enough of Schiavone's ear bleeding grunting-didn't want to hear her victory speech.

Clay might just be Sam's surface, won doubles title there. The title we all want for her and she seeks might just have to wait til next year.

Going to be very tough for her to get t number one unless she seriously improves her backhand though. Schiavone was just serving wide to the forehand then hitting into an open court and Sam couldn't get the ball back, however she can on the forehand. She also needs to use her volley experience from doubles to more advantage as she was continuously beaten at the net.

I'm optimistic :D

I love how people say this is a rebirth of aussie tennis. She's such a clay court specialist her name might as well be Sam Soderling

Rumour mill will start flying!! ;D

korza

That other player looks like a shemale

Alex7089

I know, she looks like a horribly ugly feminine man. But in all seriousness, she tactically outplayed Sam and deserved the win, no bagging necessary.
