Title: 2015 team and predictions

Best 22

Henderson - Hartigan - Brown
Smith - Talia - Laird/Jaensch

Jacobs - Sloane - Crouch
Mackay - Thompson - Douglas

Cameron - Walker - Lynch
Betts - Jenkins - Dangerfield

Cheney, Van Berlo, Kerridge, Podsiadly

Am sure Luke Lowden will push for games, should JJ as I would like be shifted to the HB position, the forwards open up. Mitch McGovern could easily fit into the forward group and am counting on it! Dangerfield to play 50/50 forward/midfield, how dangerous is that with Brad Crouch in the guts? :o

Grigg, Lyons, Rory Atkins can all play, seriously play, but their opportunities are ahead of them! They need to make their spot their own! Im expecting all three of these blokes to have an impact in 2015 and I like Jarryd Lyons as a forward, has a heap of ability and I really think he can play as a forward :)

Matt Crouch, Cam Ellis-Yolman will play games, CEY is a great unknown and could be anything or nothing! Expect the un expected. Matt Crouch not sure on yet this year, will play Rd1 team, JJ to play back in my perfect world! Such big imposing unit but I=his athleticism is his weapon, play him back where he thrived late last year :D

Tommy Lynch plays the roaming marking tall, leaving Mitch McGovern and the Great one in the fifty! Im not sure McGovern and Pods can play in the same team if the others are fit! But I really want to see Mitch play, along side Tex, someone needs to take the pressure off him. This is the only problem with the JJ backline switch! Who are the talls that will make it easier for the Great Man?

Tommy Lynch playing helps him stay forward more with Tommy moving up field, but Luke Lowden enters the fray! Unsure how ready big Luke will be but he's 22, big, very big and waiting to play games! The 22yr old Ruckman forward kicked four in the Hawks VFL final! So maybe he's am better forward/Ruck? This fits perfectly if he is AFL ready ;)

What about Brodie Martin?
He played 17 games this year and suddenly he isn't in the team?
Not to mention the fact he resigned in October and the article states that they expect him to be a integral part of the team and are looking for him to take it to the next level.

Brodie Martin an interesting commodity! Showed great ability before his knee off the rookie list, club stuck by him but he never really found that top level game until the second half of last season!

Do I rate him in the best 22? Not really as I can't see who comes out for him, there are a few if they don't perform but thanks to this .......

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-01-19/crows-list-not-there-yet

Walshy basically foxing the team! Who will step up, who will work harder? Is what this says to me, Walshy is not stupid, he's a footy genius because of the effort he's put in over 30 odd years in the game ;)

So Martin ...... Well, I think he will play games and he will contribute! Wether he's best 22 or not he will add something when he plays :)

Lever has to play. He'll be out of his depth but Cheney will have to play like Gibbo and get to as many 2-on-1's as possible. Lever is ready to go and leaving him on the sidelines while giving games to a nobody like Hartigan will do nothing for the team. This isn't the greatest thing to say to Crows supporters but he is the next Chad Cornes, he'll be the most attacking, damaging centre half back in the league.

Definitely agree even though he isn't in my round one team. Will we probably have to give him a few games in the SANFL to start of with considering he hasn't played in over a year. Walsh has already said as well that he will be given opportunities this year. Very likely that Lever will finish the year in our best 22.

And just quietly, Hartigan isn't that bad. It's his disposal and decision making that needs work.

Lever to get games throughout the year.

Cheney, Henderson, Mackay, Podsiadly and Camerons spots up for grabs. I think everyone else pretty well picks themselves.

Best case scenario I can see the Crows finishing 5th. Worst case scenario I can see the Crows finishing 11th.

Hagebear's prediction; 6th

Not much information has come out of our trainings due most of them being closed sessions. From my personal opinion, I don't see him playing round 1, I think he needs some game time in the SANFL considering he hasn't played in roughly 18 months. But no doubt we will see him sometime during the year.

Has Scott Thompson got enough to go around again? There are a few on the sidelines that'll give him a run...!

Kerridge could also hit semi elite status as a midfielder... (2nd tier)?

Mackay/Grigg in for Martin/M.Crouch would be the changes I make. I reckon this will be Martins last year on our list, he is turning 27 with only 35 games and would rather get games into Grigg. Mackay comes in for Crouch otherwise we are too slow and Crouch has had an interrupted pre-season.

Yeah the D-Mac plays, the best wingman and really had a great patch of footy last year! Proven and has reach that 26 year mark since his birth with 124 games to boot!

This looks a very strong line up even without Wright on field. Is it likely?

I think at least 18 of those guys definitely start. I think they need to get the games into the likes of Matt Crouch, Charlie Cameron and Rory Laird. Mackay could come into the side for Martin but I like Martin's hardness and competitiveness. I think Mackay lacks a bit of that. Grigg could be a straight swap for Crouch, but Grigg (as well as Lyons) needs to find some real consistency instead of just showing glimpses.

Where do you all think Jake Lever and Harrison Wigg fit in?  I'm thinking all this time that defence is the key and this is the toughest part of SC team selection to figure out so far this year.

Wigg is a fair way back in the pecking order. Would require a few injuries to get a game. Lever a much better chance for games but still don't see him playing round 1.

Yeah I see it that us recruiting a defender first round is significant.  He's the 33rd most popular pick this year to date: http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/supercoach-2015-who-are-the-most-popular-selection-choices/story-fni5f3gz-1227236940512

gotta fit Jarryd Lyons in. He's my boy but he's a seriously talented player and Walsh could be the coach who galvanises him into becoming a regular, he re-signed here for a reason!

Excited by our midfield depth with him, Griggy, Ellis-Yolmen who's come along in leaps and bounds, Rory Atkins, and Riley Knight who's currently sidelined but has a future

I still can't believe we didn't go for Dan Gorringe or Ryan Schoenmakers, and I reckon we may struggle in defence if we come up against tall forward lines. Cheney will give his all - no question there - but he might be undersized at times

My Best 22:

Back - Kyle Cheney, Kyle Hartigan, Ricky Henderson

Half-Back - Brodie Smith, Daniel Talia, Matthew Jaensch

Centre - David Mackay, Scott Thompson, Brad Crouch

Half-Forward - Sam Kerridge, Taylor Walker, Richard Douglas

Forward - Eddie Betts, Josh Jenkins, Tom Lynch

1st Ruck - Sam Jacobs, Patrick Dangerfield, Rory Sloane

Bench - James Podsiadly, Nathan van Berlo, Jarryd Lyons, Mitch Grigg

Emergency - Any 3 of... Matthew Wright, Matt Crouch, Charlie Cameron, Brodie Martin, Rory Laird, Luke Brown

Lairdy's playing back as the second small defender rotating through the middle as many including Eddie Betts are, Walshy's new system. Im expecting Lairdy,s numbers to be consistently similar

Thommo, racking up the numbers in the SANFL but, who would come out for him? Im not sure any would and Lyons might even come in before him if Smithy doesn't come up. Could be wrong but I think Walshy wants those who use the ball better

Was definitely his best game and how good was that first half with 18 possies? He was simply supreme but now his worst nightmare has been confirmed :-\  tough break for a young man who had found his niche recently in his football career!

I hear our second draft pick Harrison Wigg might be in line for a debut?

Crows depth really being tested and right in a week where our whole club will be tested up against the new kids the Giants this week!

But Wigg's AFL debut might have to wait a few more weeks.

Although happy with Wigg's development, Walsh said he wasn't quite ready to break into the senior side.

Instead, the coach suggested Mackay would spend more time in defence as he did towards the end of Saturday's win over St Kilda.
