EurAsia's BIGGEST Game Ever... Was it Enough?

EurAsia needed to come out big - so they produced its HIGHEST EVER SCORE! What a coaching masterclass by 2021 victor JB - selecting a whopping 7 players whom scored 120+, and a further 4 centurions. Rome foursome Gulden, Kelly, Parker and Treloar combined for an eye-watering 604 points to put the result beyond any doubt quite early in the contest. It was clearly enough for the game... but what of the series?

AAPs only active victorious coach FTC (save iZander last week) produced AAPs 5th highest ever score to follow its highest ever score last week. This was largely off the back of Captain Bontempelli whom in most other years would have produced a match winning performance.

But did he successfully defend the series?

AAP Alliance (28.7.175) lost to EurAsia (31.6.192)

#19
2023 SERIES RESULT: AAP by a whisper

My, GOD!

This spectacle gets bigger and better every single year!

Game 1: AAP Alliance (30.6.186) def EurAsia (27.7.169)
Game 2: AAP Alliance (28.7.175) lost to EurAsia (31.6.192)

The series was tied at 1-1, so the overall points scored was the decider...

AAP scored 3610 to EurAsia's 3600.

10 SC in it! 60 players and only 10SC in it! My god, this could have been anyones match and it came down to every decision made in the match.

Congratulations to iZander and FTC for bringing the title back to the Alliance for the first time since that fateful day in 2019 when ROB went bonkers.

JOSH KELLY AND ERROL GULDEN wins the EURASIA Medal
TAYLOR WALKER wins the AAP ALLIANCE Medal
TAYLOR WALKER wins the WORLDS Medal

The series at a glance:
- AAP started Game 1 with a BANG when Tex Walker (208) did the unbelievable, the same time Laird (156) was VC loopholed and, you know it, ROB (135) made his presence felt
- EurAsia meanwhile started poorly with Houston (47) turning up for the wrong week and Cripps (58) making the normal look difficult
- Game 1 was decided well and truly at this point. But EurAsia renewed its focus - keep it within 200 and minimise the damage.
- Coaches Jukes/Torp turned it on at this point, with master coaching moves to bring Neale as a Captain (whom wasn't a clear choice mind you) and banking on some strong centuries along the way. At this point, AAP was too busy looking back, as they slowed RIGHT down towards the end and somehow DIDN'T finish 190+.
- The margin? A mere 174 points. We could do this.
- Game 2 started and it was clear AAP was nervous - barely managing a ton in the first half of the game. Of course, with one notable exception as Captain Bont (169) did Bont things. A Paddy Cummins-esque Captain Knock, as it would turn out
- Meanwhile, EurAsia was CHARGING. The JB-led side could do no wrong with centurion after centurion fronting up for the cause. But it was Jukes' troops that was doing the damage- the 5 Romans contributed for 712 points to give the EurAsian's the platform for its BIGGEST EVER SCORE!
- Going into the final game... Rowell + Dylan Moore needed a very gettable 195 for victory. And with 11 out of 13 centurions done, and 45 points scored in the first 5 minutes of the game... we all thought it would be a procession!
- Alas, Rowell choked. He choked big time, landing on just 87 where a 98 would have won the match.
- AAP win from a truly fantastic score and coaching prowess. A very EurAsian performance.
- Congratulations to all involved in what was the best incarnation of Rep Round we've had yet I reckon!
