It is draft time guys :) Same rules as normal, 24hours for each pick and 2 hours if you are online whilst it is your pick.
Remember you MUST end with a squad of 40 so you keep picking until you get up to 40 players (and then all your remaining picks are skipped) and if you end the draft with less than 40 then additional rounds will be added to the draft which contain the teams in Spoon -> Flag order from last season until every team has 40 players.
Holz and I will work together to update the list of picks and also cross off the players from the lists you can pick when they are selected. Happy Drafting :)

Wish we had more picks :(
Shouldn't there be a list of non-selected players e.g. Brock McLean? Would be helpful although time consuming to form one :-\.

Holz has elected to not provide a list so that the coaches who do the research get the rewards :)
Come on Nails ::)

I see.... Makes it very easy for a player to fall then :-X. Just different I've got to say compared to other drafts!

Yes that's it, its not I didn't want to make a list.
Being serious though it shouldn't be too hard to find if you do abit of research just find a guy you like control f this page and if you can't find them pick them.
We didn't have a list of all available players in the initial draft either and that seemed to work well
Lahug and crows fan own thornton dont they? So he isnt aval ;)
I was so close to working through all the delistings and non picked Nat players etc to put one together earlier tonight, the only thing that stopped me was finding out misses was pregnant with number 2 :o maybe it is a good thing haha
I need an assistant here now badly! lol

Fair enough too, need to see about real life things first. I'm sure there will be people to cover for you here :P.
Congrats Pickers, in honour of the great news, The Swedes are going to make their first picker in this draft
I think a week ago we weren't going to select this bloke...
but with Griffen and Wallis leaving, causing us to not have super depth anymore and providing he has another decent season he should be a huge improvement over 1 of the other mids we'd have to play, we're taking a risk taking him
Brock McLean.
^ hmmm... just realised someone who's available and we might regret this pick...
gl McLean
And we are under way :D
Zip is always on yapping his mouth. Where is he?!?! lol.
To add a little more depth and grunt to the backline, the Valkyries would like to select a lions partner for Hanley, someone who should be getting more of a run off halfback with the retirement of Drummond,
Welcome to the Valkyries:
Mitch Golby

shows he's a hard worker.
The Valkyries are very happy with their smear campaign against golby this season- it has always been our intention to take him with our first pick, so we've spent most of the off season talking shower about him so that he would last until us ;)

you really didnt have to do that there were soo many better picks than him he was always going to slip to pick 2.

I wonder if he would of taken if the DPP was with :O
nice. He would have been close to a top 10 pick even without dpp.
I'd like to take a prelisted 17 year old GWS giant to help out, once again with my backline
Thomas Bugg, come on join the Valkyries soon to be stellar defense.
with that they Valkyries have close to finalised our defensive line
Def: J. Grimes, P. Hanley, M. Golby, T. Bugg (Jackson Trengove, B. Jacobs P. Veszpremi, J Roughead, T. Armstrong, J.Pittard, S. Frost, R. Laird)
Would have taken if available at 8 whatlez but dpp seals it.
Luke Parker

Well I should know who it is, but with your recent trading and DPP, I don't think you are chasing him...
Sorry boys, the pick will be up soon :)
Possibly a surprise here as we pick a relative elder statesmen compared to those that have been picked up earlier but we feel this lad will have an instant impact on our team and help us reach our target of lifting the cup come the end of the season.
Welcome to the Bashers, Danyle Pearce!

Ok to add to the Bison ruck stocks we choose...

Reason we took Jenkins was because we only had two rucks, Jacobs and Graham. So might as well grab Jenkins to complete the Crows trifecta of ruckmen. Averaged 61 in his first year of playing (66 if you ignore his sub games), and should play a whole lot more this year without Tippett there. Don't see why you think he is a terrible pick? ???

And a larger improvement to our side over any other player we could've picked up.

Haha, I think we all know who he's picking...
This kid could play 22 and average 90-95 as a defender
or he could get injured first game of the season and average 3....
Hopefully it's the former and having him re-ignites our premiership hopes...
Dylan Grimes.

Don't want to offend anyone, but I'm noticing a lot of spelling mistakes in the list of players already on squads. Makes it very hard to sort out if someone really isn't there of if you just can't find them because it has been spelt wrong... :-\
if its mainly first names that was me cause i had to add them in for 3 or 4 teams players. Sorry :-[
It's a mixture of both. For example I just had the fan planner open and was searching every name from the top, not expecting to find anyone free for ages when I search Chapman and it doesn't come up because it is in there as Capman! Thought I had found bargain! ::)

Ok, so with pick 18 the Valkyries would like to select a big man bolster our ruck stocks, since roughead and trengove have lost ruck eligibility since the initial draft.
Tom Hickey, come and join the best youth in the competition.
Tom's a great fit for the club, should work extremely well in tandem with Mcevoy, averaging nearly 60ppg not including his vested game, including an extremely impressive ton against collingwood- for a 200cm+ second year playing weighing less than 90 kg, it's very impressive.
Nice pick, was on my list of rucks.

This bloke should be handy for a 75 (80 if lucky) average. He adds much needed depth to both ends of the field for us. Can cover in the fwds if we need but should mostly feature down back. He should be in a lot of DT/SC this season. Will play 22 if fit.

what are you smoking dude? he turned 20 in november, he debuted in 2011 (but only played a couple of games), then he was used as a sub 4 times, and he tonned up twice out of his 7 unsubbed games. He was one of the youngest players last year in the comp, and didnt get stacks of opportunities this year as the saints were trying out all their new forward recruits. Honestly, for a young forward, he's one of the best remaining.

My name is Travis Boak.
Stevenson and cambell heath hace been recruited as "mautre" ready to go defence options. We have lost chaplin, surjan, pearce and jacobs so our defence is depleted
Carlile and trengove will be the main talls with hombsch playing sometimes as a third
Logan and a mix of pittard oshea heath and stevenson will fill the smalls plus defensive mids like hartlet cassisi broadbent
Stevenson will get games and is probably just ahead of cambell heath

Hang on, Hombsch will replace Chaplin, so don't say that he'll play "sometimes". Stevenson and Heath have hardly played, not great for mature, i'd rather play O'Shea, Pittard, Logan.

Beams would have been my next choice.
Anyway I've sent a PM to LH discussing our next pick (this draft went a lot quicker than expected), but don't know when he will be online so you may be waiting a while before we get a pick up...
Do you want me to message him on fb? Oops already did ;)
The front page names are funny. C.heath, C.kinnerly, Someone grant, J.Toupas, L.jong, Hannerbury, Moribito
I think there are other, but a lot don't even have first names :P

Trengove is secured the second tall spit
Hombsch maybe even blee maybe daniel stewart will play third tall role that trengove played

that's a smashing pick- averaged 80 unsubbed as a 19 year old? cheering.
daaaaamn.
edit* talking bout siposs
Joking? :X Was there even subs in 2010? :P lol
It looks a terrible pick :X
High score of 85 in his career :X
what are you smoking dude? he turned 20 in november, he debuted in 2011 (but only played a couple of games), then he was used as a sub 4 times, and he tonned up twice out of his 7 unsubbed games. He was one of the youngest players last year in the comp, and didnt get stacks of opportunities this year as the saints were trying out all their new forward recruits. Honestly, for a young forward, he's one of the best remaining.
http://www.fanfooty.com.au/players/profile.php?firstname=Lewis&surname=Stevenson
^ if I search Lewis or Lewis Stevenson he's the only one who shows up...
And that says he only played in 2010 :|
EDIT: just saw you were talking about Siposs.
Sorry guys, online now (was asleep :P). Will talk to CF and pick shortly.
Sorry for the delay guys. With the Bison's last pick we will take 20 year old defender who averaged 68 last season (72 without the sub games).
Luke Russell
Is Russell a defender ???
Well he is in SC so I'm assuming he is in DT too...

a forward who averaged nearly 70 in his first year.

46.
After looking long and hard at the remaining players, after disappointment struck with siposs, elliott, daw, mitchell, schulz being snagged less than a round before, there are very few left of value remaining for the Valkyries team... to be precise, only about 4 maximum that we believe would be of value to our squad.
But what is this? A shining beacon of light, coming unexpectedly from geelong?
Who is it do you ask? He is known by many titles.
An upgraded rookie.
A man with a remarkably similar name to a high draft pick this year.
A little asshole who beats on women.
But more importantly?
a 66 averaging first year player, removing his subbed games, and with the exception of one outlier, extremely consistent.
Known for his ability to score 30-40 points after coming on as the sub with barely a quarter to go, a man who, if he would stop hitting women, grow a pair of balls, and a proper tank, become a really good DTer, and something for the cats, alongside with caddy, to build a new midfield around....
The Valkyries, final pick, 46, soon to be known as the steal of the draft, goes to one of the top 2 remaining players in the draft, and the one with the best job security
JESSE STRINGER!
Disagree about no value left, I have 1 pick left but a list of 29 names still left.
10 more picks for my #1 option to last !! haha.
yeh quite a few quality boys left over
haha, no.
there's only one more decent guy from the actual rookie draft....
there's almost nobody left from the initial pool worth taking- a couple of youngsters, but you're punting on 50/40 ppg averages :P

good question Lez, l wouldnt have a clue either
4 I think
I thought we were going to get more because it wasn't fair for the people wih high amount of rookie picks compared to the high amount of Nat picks e.g. Pickers to Elephants.

Trade Period 3 (Post Rookie Draft)
• Once we get closer to the season starting a third trade period will start
• This will last a total of just 1 week
• During this trade period a total of 4 player movements are allowed from your squad
• Trades must be kept uniform (i.e 1 for 1, 2 for 2, 3 for 3 or 4 for 4)
Wow this is poorly done. Like a few days ago it was argued that some teams were disadvantaged so there would be more. But it's not for another 2-3 months? Pickers has already declared he has players from Nails' side, but he will not get them for another few months?
I really would of liked to know about these rules before the Rookie Draft, as I had the impression that you get a lot more list movements, well at least 6.

yep. 3rd trade period is just to fix up dpp changes etc.

I have Griffen from Nails side for next trade period, who i wont be trading anyway so dont really care when i get him aslong as i do. It was always staying at 4 list movements, the only thing that changed was rookie picked players can be on traded and not count as one of those 4.

Wasn't all that fantasy relevant when looking at his scores in the VFL, averaged only 59.56, but he should get games for the Suns, which is all you would ask for with a pick at this time...

Yeah, but who knows? Might get a different position at Suns and become fantasy relevant. Can't always guarantee VFL gun = AFL gun, nor can you guarantee a VFL will be an AFL spud.
Similar to Tom Rockliff (although both years in AFL)
Like 2011 = super fantasy player
2012 as mid only he was a spud...

It was never said until like 1 week ago when Holz just said it randomly. Not sure how that works as a rule cannot be made up on the spot.
Also I lost 6 mids to DPP and 4 lost the position altogether I think. So if it's to fix DPP then I should get more than 4 list movements? If its to help with DPP why does everyone get the same list movements?
Plenty of talent left, but I'll go Steven May.
I think he has DPP.
I'm not going to go dig it up, but when we were first discussing the extra trade periods, the 3rd one was only put forward and agreed to due to changing dpps etc.
For instance, since the initial draft, jordan roughead and jackson trengove have both lost ruck eligibility... I've already addressed this in the draft, but honestly if hickey hadn't been available, I would be in trouble.

• During this trade period a total of 4 player movements are allowed from your squad
• Trades must be kept uniform (i.e 1 for 1, 2 for 2, 3 for 3 or 4 for 4)
It never mentioned DPP in the "rules" if it did, I probably would've put through an extra trade last period.
I seriously cbf to dig it up.
I dont think its limited to DPP, like we can trade players apart from dpp I'm pretty sure... I'm just saying that's why there's so little list movements.
No offence but you guys are stupid.
When Holz said the reading period is for DPP changes he didn't mean you can ONLY trade a player that lost/moved position eligibility. He means that just in case a couple of players change positions that you have the opportunity to fix anything that might have been changed from what you originally had. The low amount of list movements is for subtle changes, not for team cleanouts.
Well up, they are the rules. Whether they are for DPP changes or not it doesn't change the fact that there's 4 movements available, and rookie picked players don't count. :)
Carry on in the draft please. :)

If you can find me proof that Holz said this BEFORE the first trading period then you are, call me stupid.
I'm not saying he didn't, I'm saying he should of mentioned every rule pre all trading periods. Like CF or someone else I think mentioned a few days/weeks ago, why are rules being made up all of sudden.
...
you're still not getting it lez.
YOU CAN TRADE ANY PLAYER REGARDLESS OF DPP BEING LOST/CHANGED.
the low list movement number was establish quite some time ago- before the second trade period had started.
the reason for the low list movement number was because the trade period was intended to finalise and fix holes in your team etc. Not that it really matters, since you knew about the list movement numbers, and there are no restrictions on the players you're allowed to move.
Holz has also said that players taken in the rookie draft do not count as movements (from memory).
Originally, we were only going to have 1 trading period, but because so many people wanted multiple trading periods, holz allowed it, hence why the rules mightn't have been around before the first trading period.
The first trading period started as soon as the season ended- we were still discussing the rules for subsequent trading periods at this point.
Then why is this DPP bullshower even brought up if it's irrelevant?
someone was doging about the list movement number being too small.

Not our fault people don't know how words work
Quote from: Ziplock on December 22, 2012, 07:40:35 PM
yep. 3rd trade period is just to fix up dpp changes etc.
A synonym for just is only...
Therefore "3rd trade period is ONLY to fix up dpp changes"
Leaves an implication that trades are only available for DPP fixing/changing...
but now that it has been explained further, I'm on board and understanding. Not really stupidity by Whatlez/myself. Just stupid word use. Not my fault I have a high IQ ;) and expect others to be able to replicate understandable English.
Haha Nails.
But 4 list changes isn't enough to fix up my dpp changes?

Was moreso just to fix holes in your team as was meant to fix majority of them in the big trade period we had recently. We shouldn't be trading alot of players every time so I'm for the limited list movements just to fix any little things we may need (e.g. a Top defender, a Ruckman, Captain choice, etc).
Most teams shouldn't be decimated by DPP to the point where they need more trades. If they are, I say bad management :P.

I wouldn't say bad management. I lost 6 pure mids so yeah.
for instance, in my teams case, I Had the following changes
Veszpremi: F-->B
Roughead: R---> F/B
O'Hailpin: F---> F/R
Adams: F/C--> C
Bewick:C--> F
Haynes: C-->F
Goodes: F/C--> F
as you can see, the majority of those changes are to younger players, who haven't had a definitive role yet- for instance roughead spent last season being groomed as lakes replacement. This affected my team composition pretty heavily, but in my case was advantagous... I was lightest on my backs and gained 2.
However, my ruckline really took a blow, losing trengoves dpp last year, and now rougheads, left me with a line of
Mcevoy (Stephenson, O'hAilpin). I would have been sweating bullets all year if Hickey hadn't been available to pick up.
Fact is, most players who lost dpp were players we expected, fyfe, sidey, beams, danger, lids etc.
soooo
poor planning :P
l had 6 dpp changes after the draft last season and got no compensation (and still managed to win the premiership :P), so really dont understand why its such an issue this season
what were our trading rules last year?
more importantly, what were your dpp changes? :P
for instance, imagine the scenario where my ruckline was
Mcevoy (Roughead, Trengove, Stephenson, OHailpin)
like, it's not amazing, but it's solid.
if after the draft though, I found out that trengove and roughead had both lost dpp
Mcevoy(Stephenson, Ohailpin)
annnnd thats why we have the new rules.
I have 3 rucks andim happy. You have 4 rucks and you're complaining... ::)
Now I have 4 rucks, before I had mcevoy and then a 31 year old rookie listed player and a 30 year old who'd only played 7 games in 2 years :P

Green is a fwd and Martin just turned 24, also signed recently for another 2 seasons :)
Martin had played "some outstanding football in the SANFL", Adelaide football operations manager Phil Harper said.
"He has also shown some good signs at AFL level," Harper said.
"We think he can develop into an excellent player for us and we are pleased he wants to be part of our playing group for at least the next couple of years."
ahhhk, makes more sense then. The draft is short on forwards now.
If you think Green is a top 20 pick then you're a spud. Seriously. You thought two guys left are top 20 picks lol.

My team is looking alright for a spud coach . Matin probably 30ish pick but i need young forwards so why not go for green. Why wouldn't you want a lion forward with guys like rich redden rocky and zorko in the midfield.
Probably more of a SC player but still handy to have on your list
65 avergae in his last month. 70 is what im tipping him at next year if he cements his spot in the team

the rucks can go eitherway, but I'd give the edge to the eagles as well
adamant has rated the utilities of the eagles lower than yours... Honestly though, sandilands is a year younger than carrazzo, and has better scoring potential, the only thing that really makes them equal is sandis injuries.
Grigg has topped out (at best, honestly, I think he was overperforming chronically this season) with an average of 97, I'd rate the first pick swallow to beat that this year- honestly, I think he would have gone 90+ this year, if it wasn't for his injury... he was averaging nearly 90 before it- he averaged 82 unsubbed.
The bashers win out with youth mostly, and their cover is a bit better however.

Holz defence beats us just marginally while our fwds beat his how do i say it not by a lot but more than his def beats ours
Lets say holz def is 10-20ppg better than ours remembering stanley ave 92
Our fwds are 20-30ppg better than his
Our mids are fairly even. He may win by 5-10ppg depending if boyd holds a 115 average
Then our utilities win by 15 or so ppg carrots = sandi grigg > swallow
So our team is 15-30 ppg better overall
He might have 'more' better players but our overall team wins
Why not add last years averages all together then see who wins?
What^

In what world does priddis beat Barlow. Priddis is old and never been a DT player. Barlow has sub games too remove them and he averages 100. I cut priddis from my team as I didn't want him.
If fyfe is as good as a 110 average mid than the trade should have been rejected.
So Holz on your logic, Whitfield is equal to a 100+ average?

haha fair call.
I do think i win that trade but whitfield looks like he could be a better player than brlow at some stage.
I guess we will see, if fyfe really does pull out 110+ this year as a 21 year old than it will be a terrible trade. I guess the same could be said if whitfield does a tambling and barlow gets over his leg injury.
I think we will see later that whitfield is worth a 100 average 25 year old mid. But anything could happen.

*sigh* even one of your co-coaches agreed with my summation.
comparing them on this years averages is pointless- holz traded specifically for players who had underperformed by their standards in order to build a super team- like flower he would be able to get gibbs otherwise if he'd still been a 108 average back, or cloke as a 95+ forward. That being said, that's where these players lie in scoring ability, with ease.
Let me put it this way. Gibbs beats birchall by 20 points. Goddard beats stanley by 20 points. Shaw beats houli by 10-15 points, adcock beats pearce by 10-15 points.
Pendlebury beats murphy by 5 points- why do you think I traded him, he can't deal with a tag. Boyd beats swallow by 10 points. Deledio beats Fyfe by 10 points, Barlow beats Priddis by 10 points.
goldy/ hmac are more uncertain, imo, it's goldy by 5-10 though.
Thomas beats cloke by 5 points. Robbo beats lecras by 10-15 points, pavlich beats harvey by 10 points, rioli beats petrie by maybe 3 points.
Sandi probably beats carrazzo by about 5 points, but fair enough to call it even. Grigg and swallow comes down on opinion- imo, this year they'll be equal.... grigg might win by 5 points, but I can't see there being more than a 10 point difference between them.
Your forward line wins. And maybe your utility... now stop talking, you speak an obscene amount of shower.

So The Eagles average 1386? That's cute.
Enright 80 Newman 70 Lake 76 Dempster 75
Watson 112 Thompson 105 Tuck 107 McLean 103
Minson 86
Cox 99, Johnson 102, Bartel 97, NRoo 88
Montagna 96 Hayes 97
(Averages all except 1, rounded down)
1393. Brian Lake should be 96 next season too.
The cool thing about our team though is we still have plenty of decent backup mids.
With that, I think we'll take McPharlin, should be a slight improvement over Newman if Grimes or Staker don't fire next seasons. Otherwise he'll be great depth.
So when do trading periods open?
Also why can't traded and Nat picks not cow towards list movements!!!
I think the eagles have a better side but it may crumble from lack of depth if injuries go against them.
Think the Wolves will be behind the pack this year but anything can happen in finals in this game and I am sure I will make finals at the very least. Will be ecstatic with a top 4 finish.

Remember houli fyfe thomas robinson all had below par years then add how pearce is at a new club and i dont see much difference. Was a zone selection pick so not sure how good he is. Was unfit last year and worked hard in the preseason to play round 5 this year, got injured round 7 but when he came back in round 14 he played every game bar 1.
He has listed as a back now and if he can be safe in GC 22 than that should help, even if he only averages 65-70

If this is correct, and Holz needs 5 picks and Bashers need 10 picks then the 'filler' order should be:
71. Holz -
Charlie Dixon72. Pickers
73. Torp
74. Elephants
75. Nails
76. Holz
77. Torp
78. Elephants
79. Holz
80. Elephants
81. Holz
82. Elephants
83. Holz
84. Elephants
85. Elephants
86. Elephants
87. Elephants
88. Elephants
89. Elephants
Someone needs to confirm/check this for me. I will update OP and check now.
OK so I am pretty sure this is correct, if someone else needs filler picks or I got your amount wrong let me know ASAP. Otherwise, Pickers is up and may the draft continue :)

Well that makes no sense since Petterd is the only Petterd in the AFL, so would be quicker searching that :P
also you have to know that theres only 2 rickys as well, who is it, dyson and petterd?
*edit* turns out its henderson and petterd, did dyson retire?
anyway, I know a fair amount about what players are where, and I didnt know that... but I was pretty sure petterd was the only petterd.

Alright, both teams with last years averages (with sub affected games removed):
Serbian Eagles (Holz)
DEF: B.Gibbs (92), B.Goddard (97), H.Shaw (82), J.Adcock (81)
MID: S.Pendlebury (113), M.Boyd (115), B.Deledio (110), M.Barlow (100)
RUC: T.Goldstein (85)
FWD: T.Cloke (75), M.LeCras (86*), B.Harvey (87), D.Petrie (81)
UTI: D.Swallow (82), A.Sandilands (100)
Belgian Bashers (ele + Ric + FARK)
DEF: G.Birchall (89), D.Stanley (92), B.Houli (79), D.Pearce (73)
MID: M.Murphy (105), A.Swallow (103), N.Fyfe (97), M.Priddis (97)
RUC: H.McIntosh (95)
FWD: D.Thomas (97), M.Robinson (93), M.Pavlich (95), C.Rioli (89)
UTI: A.Carrazzo (100), S.Grigg (98)
Total
Eagles: 1386
Bashers: 1402
Well, the Bashers win on last years averages, but keep in mind that Gibbs, Shaw, Goldstein and Cloke had horror years - they will all smash their 2012 averages. Also Pendles had a below par year for his standards. Anything could happen though, both very impressive teams.
Remember houli fyfe thomas robinson all had below par years then add how pearce is at a new club and i dont see much difference. Still reckon we have a slightly better team and there is no doubt we have the better cover on bench. Either way other than lahug/crowsfan i cant see any other team competing with us or holz so... Smd. A few will get close (nos, jb) but can only see 3 real premiership contendors
Btw if you cant tell i love to talk trash
It takes two to tango
Lol... Jb... seriously? lol
And the Bison? Decent team, but not that great.
We're a captain option away from being a real premiership threat!
Anyone wanna make a trade...?
Bison have good quality depth in every team..lots of potential, good mix of youth and experience, been helped by dpp

22 year old 200cm 95kg ruck who is on senior list at fremantle, the staff have said how versatile he is and how he can pinch hit at chb or in the fwds as well. Dont think he was recruited as a ruckman and more as a second tall fwd to help pav, similar to john anthony but hopefully better. Ave 65 at centrals last year, we need another ruckman for cover and this bloke was the one we rated highest out of all the rucks left.
Wouldn't Zac Clarke be that forward they could use to pinch hit in ruck ?

Taking a big punt here. Was a very talented player overlooked in the draft for no reason. First player ever to get a perfect score in goal kicking and was a under 18aa
Andrew Boston
Okay i believe we have 6 picks? In no order
Tom Jonas
Cameron Guthrie
George Horlin Smith
Jake Lloyd
Jackson Allen
Jamie Cripps
Was also looking at andrew collins, martin clisby, callum sinclair, nathan lovett murray and will hams but narrowed it down to the 6 above

I am not sure if we have 5 or 6 picks :/ im on my phone but if it does work out we only have 5 then we will drop cripps but im still not sure

Holz do you want to hold a 2nd List submission where each team submits their full list of 40 players ? Or maybe do this after our final trading period and at the same time nominate our rookies ? Do we have official dates for the next trading period yet ?
Just wondering what the go is now :)
People were talking about magner going pick 1 at some stage. Looks like he is out of favour and with viney toumpas coming in can't see him getting back in.

The best thing about the euro last year was it was soo even. I did the numbers and this year the SD was much lower in the euro than the worlds. I think next year we will be higher than the world's. I know alit of it is too do with the strength of the eagles I just hope it doesn't get worse.
The drastic thing I was considering was giving up my euro team like Ossie. Or to do one sided trades to help the weaker teams. But that might have caused more damage than help

Yeah Holz, stop saying you are going to give your team. Only cause teams trade for future players with Bashers and Bashers win short, you don't have to keep threatening to quit

Sorry I didn't want to give that impression, I was only considering giving it up so I could be completely unbias. Its hard making choices when when you have a team in the comp.
Will stay though, I really want to make the euro as strong and fun as I can and I'm looking at all options to do so. Just being an admin like Ossie I considered but I feel its best to have a team

Holz I wouldn't worry so much about the disparity between teams, I mean look at the AFL and the gap between teams like Sydney and Hawthorn with Melbourne and Port (no offence to Demon/Power supporters).
Things like that naturally happen and even though we can't tell because our competition is so young but things are put in place to help the bottom teams become stronger. Your team jumped from spooners to a top 1 or 2 team simply because lets face it- your team wasn't actually a wooden spoon quality team you were just super unlucky with DPP and injury that it made your team look that bad. Then it was simply a matter of using your new assets (high draft picks) to make your team even stronger. It isn't your or anybody's fault it is simply the nature of the game we have :)

Fair call scrads will balance out eventually teams like spinkings have soo much potential that with some young guys living up to potential and some early picks they could be scary in a few years.
The draft will balance it all out. The expansion teams will be an interesting concept if it goes ahead. There could be some huge news on that front coming up shortly. If it goes ahead it could be huge for the euro
Whereas I will lose Boyd Petrie boomer soon and I'm expecting to lose DPP down back when Gibbs pumps out a 110+ season :)
are we going to do mini picks? because that could be extremely interesting :P

Reilly is D3 for you hahahaha
Houli had an off year, he will ave 85 this year, pearce at freo = 80 ac so bo...reilly would be first bench
houli had an off year? houli had the same year he normally has- averaged mid to high 70s.
pearce's highest average was 78 in 07, when port were actually a top 2 team (albeit, with the most appalling grandfinal performance in history).
just saying. It's a stretch to say that a 27 year old player is finally going to become DT relevant.
Fark talks shower. Reilly 4 years straight 77+.
Pearce ave 20+ touches when port won
Pearce ave 14 touches when port lost
Freo win a lot more games then port so smd pearce will be fantasy relevant
Houli ave 80+ in 2011 so no im not talking shower youse are the flowering shower talkers flower shower flower shower flower flower shower
one year of scraping 80+ and 4 years of 70s generally indicates the 80 was overperforming, and not underperforming this year.
It's ok, I can see why you dont have the balls to go ruckless against us with a showerhouse backline like that.
Stanley top 4 defenders
Birchall top 7 defenders
Houli top 15 defenders
Pearce/nicholson/terlich top 15 defendrs

haha, my spuds? Grimes, a top 4 defender despite having no preseason this year, hanley a top 10 defender, then a 75 average 2nd year player, a 70 average first year player, with jacobs, pittard, armstrong, roughead, trengove etc. as cover? Golby out averaged pearce and nicholson despite being younger, and injured lol. You talk so much shower.

No-one even giving the Metal a show?
Best depth amongst all the teams imo :-X
We have no chance Nails.
I can see you being very dangeorous, probably need another back like heath shaw or jed adcock (who are both on the table, Adcock more so)
Please Holz, don't talk us up. I think we are capable of finishing in the top 8, but the Bashers, Stallions, Eagles, Valkyries, Wolves and last years winners the Roulettes are all stronger than us.
Why I would say one of the best miss in the comp very deep there. Cox will still be a top ruck. Than you have guys like stevie j and Higgins up front. I think you might actually beat me up front rucks pretty even mids I win unless I get injuries. The back line is an issue lake could go very well at hawks and enright is pretty good.
PB, Bashers and Holz' team worked out what their best XVs would average based on 2012 averages
We averaged around 10 more than Holz but 15-20 less than the Bashers
Not sure why you think we're no chance?

Coz the team isn't as good as you say it is. ;) Top 8 is gettable, but after that i'm not so sure. :-\
I'm surprised you rated the valkyries above your team- I expect huge improvement from my team, but atm I only had 2 players average 90+ this year, and only like another 3 or 4 who went 80+.
of course this is all going to change this year- four 110+ mids, four 90-100+ backs are going to carry my team to the cup ;)

at times like this I hope you're trolling.
FTR, wellingham+ clark are pretty much equal, wellingham will probably only have dpp for this year... aand as a 90 average mid (at best)... mediocre. They're about the same age as well, so that's not really a factor.
Griffen is a higher averaging and more proven player than shuey as well- personally I think he could really explode this year. That being said, shuey age might tip it in his favour, depending on your structure.
But, all that being said, its a mid and a fwd for a mid and a fwd... so it all comes down on how you rate them personally :P

Horsley i honestly reckon will ave 90 this year but shaw yeah haha hes a spud. Just provides defence cover thru js
Shuey will go 100+ easy and Welly easily out averages Clark and plays a lot more.

Richard Douglas,
82 average without the subs will come in handy if he can average 85+
I only have Pearce on the bench than it goes to omeara i think douglas can outscore omeara.
I just got back from a holiday, and checked the last few picks. A bit of a delayed reply, but oh well lol. :P
Douglas - a 25 year old who averaged 82 without subs and close to 90 back in 2010 is a massive steal at pick #79. He could even be a chance for DPP down the track too. Nice.
Completely agree Adam. We were looking at him with our final pick at 32, but decided we needed defensive cover instead. Massive steal!

Couldn't believe when I found him wouldn't be surprised if he turns out a better pick than Pearce who cost me 6.
I just secured what I rate as a gun mid so probably don't need either anymore

hahah dont think that surprise will come Holz, Douglas will struggle to ave 80+ imo. He's no longer a midfielder we have plenty of younger better players ahead of him in there and his role played as a HF last year wont see him have much value in Euro's unless he gets DPP in future yrs. A 26 yr old mid (when season starts) who has never ave over 88, is always going to be a sub candidate for us and has had two lenghty injuries keeping him out for 7 & 6 weeks in past two seasons, in comparision to some of the younger guys taken around #79 dont really see why this pick would be singled out.......
Douglas will continue to rotate through the midfield ;)
If you don't want him, trade him to the Bears ;D
Douglas, spud. Won't make Adelaide team or will be sub. Nuff said, reasons why he slipped.
To replace kilkenny I'll take Aaron Cornelius

Are you sure you get a replacement ? Kilkenny is still technically officially on an AFL list...
Holz said I could

Still on a list but thought it only fair he could pick again.
what happened?
he basically decided after like 3-4 months that he didnt want to play afl and quit.
Does this mean if someone like Guerra does his knee (touch wood it doesnt happen) and retires I get a replacement pick too ? Just wondering what the general grounds are for this compensation pick
If it's before the season starts (NAB included) then i guess so. :-\

if that did happen wouldn't it be better to wait until next years draft to take your compo pick? will prob get an earlier one with more/better players to choose from that's what i'd want to do anyway instead of trying to pick a player when the drafts are complete

I would say basically as he picked a guy who has just decided to walk away from afl and is no longer an afl player he should be allowed to have 40 afl players on his list
Doing some research on players who could be available in the rookie draft.
Wow did Holz get two absolute steals in this draft in retrospect!
Douglas at Pick 79 and Dixon and Pick 71.
What's even funnier is everyone was bagging him out for those picks yet they lauded him for taken Weller who has now been delisted.
Weller will get picked up again,

these guys were a big reason why i went from spoon to minor premier. i dont think i can do it again, the draft will never be this strong. I thought both players were pretty good when i discovered them. Didnt expect anywhere near what they gave me though.
the funny thing is used pick 5 on siposs who is a spud.
