NEWS: Coming into season 2012, Martin was shaping as a catalyst for Melbourne's move up the leader board. He had a terrific end to 2011, and at 198cm and 101kgs, he was very gifted athlete. But it all went terribly wrong with injuries and form ruining his season until his return to the senior side in Round 13. Since his return he has been performing well. He recently discussed his form on melbournefc.com.au saying "It's been OK. I've been building and getting used to the pace of the AFL again after playing a bit in the VFL and being on the sidelines. There's been not a lot to take from [this season] really. I played the two games and then missed the rest, so in some ways, it was a bit of a shame and a waste of time. But I'm looking forward to the second half of the year and trying to do the best I can and springboard into next year as well. It was hard work, because I haven't been playing as much of a percentage in the ruck, so even that fitness base I didn't have from the previous games. I like playing in the ruck as well as forward. I was happy to go into the ruck when Russian (Jamar) went down. But having said that, I was happy starting to play as a forward - it's nice to kick an early goal."

NEWS: Jamar is the starting Ruck option for the Melbourne Demons. Martin will play in the Forward lines and pinch hit in the Ruck during games. Martin was excellent in the Ruck when given the opportunity last year with Jamar injured. This is likely to dent Martin's fantasy outlook only slightly. He was still scoring in the 100s last year with Jamar on the field.
