NEWS: As if Nathan Ablett didn't have enough hype around him, Geelong captain Steven King told the Age that he is ready for senior football. "If he continues the way he's going, he'll get a game sooner rather than later," King said. | So much for the Cats hierarchy wanting to dampen expectations. Coach Mark Thompson made some noncommittal noises about whether Ablett would be picked, so the younger Ablett son will probably have to wait like his brother did.

NEWS: The hype surrounding Nathan Ablett will only increase with news that he kicked five goals in three quarters of a practice match against VFL side Port Melbourne. The Herald-Sun reported that two of the goals came from outside 50 metres. | No matter how many current or former Geelong identities come forward to tell Cats supporters to keep their expectations sane, it will do no good. The younger Ablett son will have to make his debut this year, but not immediately - if you hear he's close to selection, pick him up.
