How important is it to have either Swan or Ablett in your team? Would it be fine to have Bartel or similar as your first mid? Does everyone have one of the two???

i have 3 teams

one has GAJ, one has SWAN and the third NDS

You will need premiums in the mids who are capable of larger scores ( ie 130+ ) They won't always get there but there are some mids that will only get 100+ but will never get to dizzy heights

It's the beauty of the game - so many different combo's to decide on at the start of the year

i have neither.
if you want to save cash, stick bartel with captaincy. thats what i am likely to do. he's a player made for dt so not a problem there.

Hard to believe but having Swan or Ablett in your team could be considered unique as many DT coaches are avoiding them because of price..

I have Swan atm..

Both are overpriced. Their price is based on their form last year which is over 6 months ago. If they are worth that half way through the year as a result of CURRENT form then you might pick them, but not when it goes on form 6 months ago. Better value premiums available I feel. Nevertheless their guns.

Come on guys, your not serious about not having Ablett are you. Just have a look at Ablett's start to 2009 and the answer is clear.

Pick Ablett Round 1 or waste your trades getting him when he drops by 20k and miss out on an extra 20 points minimum each week.

For an extra 40k each week it seems pretty obvious to me!

I have got plenty of spare cash and think I will stick with Bartel over either Swan or Ablett.

They're prices are huge at the moment.

I waited all year for abletts price to drop all year last season, never happened. Not making the same mistake again. Bartell rarely outscores ablett.
