What the hell is all this BS about Lou Richards. Richards was a cheeky rover that was not opposed to biffing players behind play while their back was turned. He was the captain of a premiership side, but so were many other players. After playing he got a job in the media for which he was well paid. Footy owes him nothing, he owes footy his life.
Collingwood supporters love him, and thats fair enough, I'm a Geelong supporter and I hate him, almost as much as he hates us (Geelong).

I love Lou, as I'm supposed to. But I agree, he shouldn't be made a legend of the game. That should be given purely to playing/coaching performances. Hell, we wouldn't want Mike Sheahan as an AFL legend would we  :-X

I'm luke warm on Mike Sheahan myself ossie. Richards started that "hand bag" bullshower in the 70's and I'll never forget or forgive. This is strickly personal though, I have no axe to grind with the pies, I even like Eddie

Grind the Pies axe, dammit!

Eddie is a pain, Lou is an ornament to the game, mainly for offering to sweep Bourke Street with a toothbrush, and, one day you will miss Mike Sheahan!

I like reading Mike Sheahan's articles! Just saying that if they expand the criteria, well, Sheahan's just about the most profilic football journalist going around and I don't want that meaning he gets 'legend status'.

Now I read that Tony Shaw is having problems getting into the hall of fame!!!! Shaw was a great player, I loved the way he played. 100% commitment, limited skills and fair.
This hall of fame and legend BS is getting out of hand. Obviously they should sack the panel and just ask us

Damn straight.

Shaw will get there eventually. Probably a good thing to. Don't need his head to get any bigger.

I have mixed feelings about him. Sure he has a premiership cup in one hand, but he has a wooden spoon in the other.

I loved his attitude though ossie. He was hard at it and fair, more than what you can say about some other players. I hate it when someone hurts another player who has basically got eyes on the ball and is called a "tough" player. Whats tough about biffing someone who can't defend himself? And yes, I know that some past Geelong players have done it, Ray Card comes to mind.Maybe its something that will always be in our game. I love it when great players clash and rough each other up, but when the game is on the line, the great players play the ball and win games, the ordinary players go the man and penalize their side.
I must admit though, probably because of the pace the game is played now, unfair or unduly rough contact is not as common as it used to be.
