Carlton and Essendon will both have to adjust to new forward structures and playing styles having lost extremely effective goal scorers last year. Also Carlton will be missing Judd for first few rounds which will hurt.

St Kilda will be hungry all season but wont win the flag imo

Geelong want one last crack at it before their window closes.

Barry Hall isnt the answer to the Doggies prayers.

West Coast finished on a high last season and will carry that into this one, they will make the eight if Kerr stays fit and doesnt get suspended and Cox makes sucessfull a return from injury. Otherwise they are another year away from finals footy.

Voss' patch up job of the Lions will be interesting to see in action, dont see them challanging for the flag though.

Look out for Freo this year, with a number of young players coming back from injury. Their list is loaded with young midfield talent. Mark Harvey needs them to improve to get a contract extension.

And yes 'LMAO' Adelaide are solely dependent on about 5 over 30 pensioners. As soon as these guys lose form the scum riddled crows will hit the ground with a larger thump than a fatman from 2000 ft.

The difference is Adelaide are at the end of the road, with little hope, dangerfield cant keep you up the ladder by himself.

I'll just name a few of our players in their prime......Bock, Thompson, Vince, Van Berlo, Tippet, Symes , Rutten, Riley, Porplyzia, Knights, Johncock, Mackay, DANGER. And one of the so called old farts won all australian selection last year, and the other over 30 boys would still be in any clubs best 22.
The only way is up for the Crows who will probably be sitting 8-1 after round 9 (just looking at the draw), probably more wins than essendon will get for the whole year! LOL
Hurley bashes taxi drivers and is always injured and Gumby is more frail than half the oldies in your average nursing home. No Forward line = NO GOALS! Compare essendons forward line to Adelaides and you'll realise how dismal your hopes really are.
I'll be sure to come back and remind u of this after round 22 and then we'll see who looks like a tool.

I think the big race this year is who will make the 8. 

St Kilda are smack bang in the middle of their window of opportunity right now and I think they have the goods to go all the way this year.

Geelong are slowly on the way out over the next couple of seasons, but in saying that, they are definitely in the premiership race this year.

Western Bulldogs are your perennial team that is up there.  A few top up's may help a bit, but I am not sure.  They will either get to the big show and lose or drop out the week before.

Adelaide and Neil Craig know how to play football.  I think the old fella's have enough to go around 1 more year at full pace, and they do have an exciting crop of young players.  Will be up there, but I dont think the aging bodies can get them over the line in September.

Hawthorn had a really bad run of injuries last year.  I do believe their premiership was too early for them in where they believe they are at.  Will be up amongst it this year.

Collingwood are a good side but I dont think that they have "what it takes" to go all the way.  Ball and Jolly are big additions but like the Bulldogs it wont be enough to go all the way.

Carlton when they are all firing have the potential to destroy teams, but inconsistency and a new forward will mean its not a regular occurrence.  When they do "click" those wins will help boost their % and get them over the line and in to the 8.

Fremantle are on the improve and I think will shock a few teams this year.  If core group of players can stay healthy and young guys develop well then they are a chance to sneak in to the 8.

Eagles are definitely on the improve.  If Kerr, Cox and Masten can play all year then they will be up there in the race for the 8.  If those 3 go down (injury or suspension) then I am not sure the young brigade are quite ready to carry the load.  2011 for the Eagles

Brisbane traded hard but I dont think that they picked up any real quality.  Yes.... they got Fev, but they lost Bradshaw.  I think Brisbane want to try and get as much hype about themselves as they can before the GC arrive.  Hiring Vossy, Trading Fev/Bradshaw, Trading Heavily (high media stories)

Essendon are improving but I think their fixtures are going to kill them.  Playing the top teams twice is a hard ask for a developing squad.  I think they have it in them to upset one of the big teams during the home and away season.

Sydney will play better as the season progresses, but I think a slow start will hurt them come August and the race for the 8.  Mumford and Seaby too improve during the year.

Kangaroo's I think will play good football, but not quite enough to get enough wins on the board to play September footy.  If the younger players develop quickly during the season then they may be a few places higher come the pointy end of the season.

Melbourne will improve on last year, but will have to play a lot of young kids to get some games and experience in to them.  About mid season they may go on a good run, but fade towards end of year when the youngsters are getting tired.  2011-12 they should be a handy team.

Port Adelaide... to be honest I don't know what it is about Port Adelaide.  They have some quality players but just cant seem to put it together on the field.  I thought they needed to get rid of Chocco and bring someone in to inject some energy in to the club. 

Richmond need time to develop the young kids.  They will win a few games, but a small handful of players cannot carry the rest of the team.

I think some of you will berate me for a few things here. Let me explain:

Carlton wont finish in the 8 because they wont kick enough goals. enough said

Essendon's draw will be a bit much on the young side, especially with a brand new forward set up.

The first 7 spots i think most will agree on. Sydney's list has only improved. Though they are without Hall and Mickey O, they've got White, Goodes in the goal square, Jetta, McGlynn, Rohan, Dennis Lane to make a solid multi-pronged attack.

West Coast looked good in the second half of last year; their list is coming along nicely and with a bit of luck, could make the eight. Need to re-establish their home ground dominance of their premiership years.

Fremantle are probably not capable of more than 10 wins, but they should improve on last year (6 wins)

Melbourne: still cant see them winning games

Port: Wildcards. If they get their act together there's no reason they wont play finals, though I doubt they will.

Just saw this now. Massive fail toodledock.

Tippett, Vince, Knights, Walker, Porplyzia, Dangerfield, Van Berlo, Otten, Mackay. Clearly, we are not at the end of the road with all these players yet to hit their prime. An Essendon supporter should even be able to figure that out.

The players you mention end pretty darn quickly. Not what i would call the "start of success". Hurley should be in jail and Gumbleton can't get his body right to be talked up that much. Vince > Watson (just) and Danger > Prismall. Heck, Talia probably has as much potential as Pears.

Your point about Adelaide having 3 first team players over the age of 32 is completely redundant. If they are still playing good football then they deserve to be named. Essendon had Fletcher, Lucas, Lloyd last year so you should be very familar carrying golden oldies in your team.

Stop humiliating yourself and try to be hospitable for a change.

Adelaide are contenders this year - I think 7 teams have a chance to win this year, it is REALLY close - but the Crows pre-season form is concerning. Yes, I know it's just practice matches, but still.

These 7 teams I think could make the top 4, and if you make the top 4 you are a chance - Adelaide, Brisbane, Collingwood, Geelong, Hawthorn, St. Kilda and the Bulldogs.
