footywiz brought this up in the chat this evening. So, have at it. Let me know what you want to see next year from FanFooty. I'll let you know what is and is not possible.

To start with, here's some of what I want to do:

- A better purple name game, expanded out into more choices with real prizes as well (might get this up for '09 finals)
- A resurrection of Lethal League, with prizes
- A better private league system, which is fully customisable to somewhere near Yahoo/ESPN standard
- Maybe some merchandise... T-shirts especially, with a professional design from a really good artist I know, not just a logo and text
- Possibly a new overall design, just to freshen things up.

Things I am definitely not going to do:

- Charge money for basic FF features, or any of it probably
- Figure out some way to get live SC scores (unless the AFL etc have a change of heart)
- Run chat 24/7

Things I might do if you lot think it's a good idea, though I'm not 100% on it:

- Offer special low-cost memberships, similar to BigFooty at about $10 a year, which gives you something extra in chat... a colour, underline, icon, something like that. Could make the chat a bit cluttered though.

There, that's enough for now. I'll look in on this thread a fair bit.

G'day M0nty,

I reckon more work needs to be put into the forum - the forum seems like it is the only thing used on this site and where most people spend their time. What I mean by 'more work' is spending more time cleaning up the forum a bit, often there will be 3-6 topics started on very similar needs (e.g. When Higgins got injuried there were several topics started on basically the same thing -what to do with Higgins?). Maybe the FF forum should sort of head in the Bigfooty direction in that there are regular topics started each week - such as 1-2 topics where everyone talks about their trades, of course I hope this site doesn't become as strict as BigFooty ;) ...This will make the forum less cluttered and starts better and longer discussion about DT in general. Hope that all made sense!

Cheers

I've raised this issue with you a couple times M0nty but here it is anyway.

I think the blogging is still an important part of the site, but in addition to just Match Reports (which i'm happy to do next year if you want me) and round reviews/previews i think the site would benefit from some analysis and opinion pieces. Give something for the reader to really debate with the writer and give people a reason to visit the site mid-week.

What do you reckon mate?

m0nty, agree with a lot of the suggestions put forward, add icons as going thro the ranks:- bootstudder - ass coach - coach - etc. Available at a small cost,Revenue raising.
TShirts for say Bootstudders (heaps of people out there @ this ranking so far)Polo for next rank & so on.
Hats & Pens, Stubbie holders, etc. also helps in raising revenue.
Appointment of a mod, make that plural. No bias towards anyone thatway!
Only suggestions so that adds food for thought for you

Murphy2Judd, I admit I have let the side down again on the blogging front this year. The problem is that is a hell of a lot of work for no reward. Also, this year my DT and SC sides have both sucked badly so I haven't felt like I am able to lecture anyone on what they should do in fantasy terms. I don't quite know what to do about the motivation aspect. It's an ongoing issue.

naste, to be honest I am thinking seriously of removing the bootstudder stuff as I think it's just a distraction - I hate seeing all the crap posted by people just to boost their post counts.

I wouldn't be offering merchandise to make heaps of cash, those things are usually more trouble than they're worth anyway. I would like to have some quality stuff out there though.

Agree with you re getting to assistant coach etc as there has been a lot of garbage posted to achieve the status to advance.
The merchandise aspect is that yes the trouble with getting the right stuff / supplier / etc would be a headache let alone then supply out to the public.
Maybe getting a few items & recoup your expenses as say a trial run.

Yeah good point mate, but at the same time maybe we could do some pieces that stray away from the fantasy side of footy a bit? IMO for the site to become a major success it has to offer more than just Fantasy Footy.

Yes the site is primarily for Fantasy competitions but at the same time if we can also build some of the blogging and some of the forum around issues outside Supercoach and DT then we'll be bringing in more users to the site.

As i've said, i'm more than happy to do some opinion pieces and continue writing match reports as i have for the past couple of weeks, just a suggestion.

See I don't think the blogging is that important m0nty, because I believe this site has now primiarly turned into a forum - and therefore more time needs to be spent in it. Signing a mod or two would possibly be the way to go, considering you can't spend all your time on here.

There are ten times as many members of the general site as there are of the forum, hibbo, so I don't think you can say the site has turned into a forum. The forum still represents less than 5% of the traffic.

Murphy2Judd brings up another possibility that I have also been toying with over the last month or two, which is to expand more into general footy analysis. It would be more of a FootballOutsiders.com type of model I would be pushing for, if I thought that could work. That sort of thing would motivate me to blog more, I think.

yep that'd be god t o expand fanfooty into general footy. M0nty I may be able to do something eg. Injury list bubble boys. That sort of stuff helped me a lot when I was new and maybe I could do it next year?anyone else think that maybe there should be more predictions for fantasy football, I know there is the guru predictions but as far as I know that doesn't really expand past 5.

But as less blogging occurs, won't the forum start to take over? I had no idea about those stats, but I see hardly any posts on theblogs, but hundreds on the forum everyday.

I should change my words - the site isn't primarily a forum, but don't you see it heading that way in the future, just my view; but of course you have the stats to prove me wrong.
